Kenya Moore has apparently wasted no time bringing the drama since her return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

According to Straight From The A, Kenya Moore had her first major run-in with a castmate and was even kicked out of a party.

The site reports that the entire RHOA cast gathered earlier this week to film their first group event. The special occasion was the soft launch for Marlo Hampton’s “I Am Her” wig line.

Though Kenya was an invited guest, she came in tow with gift bags featuring products from her Moore Hair Care natural hair care line.

She handed out the gift bags to Marlo’s guests, telling them her products are “healthy alternatives” to Marlo’s wigs.

A clip of Kenya’s messiness from the event was shared on blogs. She got on the mic saying her products will help your edges grow. Marlo grabbed the mic and asked if the products will help with gray hair, aiming the jab at Kenya.

Sources tell Straight From The A that security had to get involved in the situation between the two women. Kenya was ultimately escorted out of the event and then chose to pose alone for photos outside of the venue.

Despite reports, NeNe Leakes—who is beefing with Kenya—was also in attendance and was even seen photographed holding a Moore Hair Care gift bag. Sources say she left the event when Kenya and Marlo started to get into it because she wanted to avoid the drama.

Trump Personally Vouching for A$AP Rocky’s Release to Sweden’s Prime Minister May Not Do Any Good

As A$AP Rocky continues to be detained in a Swedish jail, Donald Trump has personally spoken with Sweden’s prime minister to advocate for his release.

The president is confident the two heads of state can come to a resolution, but it may not be as simple as his tweets make it seem.

On Saturday (Jul. 20), Trump wrote on Twitter that he had spoken to Prime Minister Stefan Lofven to “personally vouch” for Rocky’s bail and assured him that the rapper would not be a flight risk.

The president also claimed that Lofven said that Rocky would be treated fairly. It has been alleged that Rocky is being held in “inhumane conditions,” including 24-hour solitary confinement and sleeping on a mat on the floor.

Trump’s pleas and promises, however, may fall on deaf ears.

Following the Saturday phone call, Lofven spokesman Toni Eriksson essentially said in a statement that the prime minister’s hands are tied and A$AP won’t receive any special treatment.

“The Prime Minister made sure to point out that the Swedish judicial system, prosecutors and courts are completely independent. He also pointed out that everyone is equal before the law and that the government neither can nor will try to influence the judicial process.”

Eriksson even denied Trump’s claim that the two governments will discuss the matter further within the next 48 hours.

“It is possible that there will be follow-up calls, but right now there is not one planned,” Eriksson said.

A judge ruled on Friday that A$AP Rocky is a flight risk and must remain detained for another week while prosecutors continue to investigate the case.

The rapper has been held—without charge—for over two weeks following a physical altercation with two fans in Stockholm. Though it seems he did not initiate the fight, prosecutors have been slow to decide whether or not to charge him with assault.

TMZ reports that Swedish prosecutors revealed their plan to indict Rocky in a press release. When TMZ contacted them for a statement, prosecutors told the site “they mistakenly put that info in the press release and then removed it.”

A representative from the U.S. State Department arrived in Sweden earlier this week to advocate on Rocky’s behalf.

Trump personally got involved in the matter after Kim Kardashian and Kanye West contacted the White House and lobbied for Rocky’s release. Other celebs have urged the White House to help as well.

“Many, many members of the African American community have called me, friends of mine, and said, ‘Can you help?'” Trump said from the Oval Office on Friday.

He continued, stating that Rocky has America’s support.

“I personally don’t know A$AP Rocky, but I can tell you that he has tremendous support from the African American community in this country … and when I say African-American I think I can really say from everybody in the country because we’re all one.”

Now, whether Trump said this out of sincere concern for an American citizen or because he’s angling for a perceived “win” after telling four U.S. congresswomen of color to “go back” to where they came from and inciting a “send her back” chant at one of his rallies remains to be seen.

Rocky could face up to six years in prison if charged and convicted of assault.

Master P Calls Out BET Awards for Honoring Nipsey Hussle After He Died: “I Thought That Was Strange”

Master P is known for keeping it real, and that’s exactly what he did while speaking about his late friend Nipsey Hussle in a recent interview with Rolling Out magazine.

According to P, the attention Nipsey received after his death was confusing to him, because he believes the Victory Lap rapper should have received his flowers while he was still around to smell them.

“Me and Nipsey was tight, man,” Master P said. “That was my little partner. I was showing him the game, showing him the ropes. I had a lot of respect for him, he had a lot of respect for me.”

P continued: “I don’t normally just hang out and go in the studio with just anybody. He was special. My thing was to the world: why make him special after he’s gone? This man did so much while he was here, and nobody cared. His last album was two years ago [and it’s] now like, the biggest record around the world now.”

The No Limit CEO also called out BET for making Nipsey a central figure of the 2019 BET Awards, including having a blue carpet and giving him a number of trophies posthumously.

“BET gave him a Humanitarian Award and Male Artist of the Year,” Master P said. “I thought that was strange. What about the year before? That’s the same album. Ain’t nothin’ changed.

“He ain’t even get a chance to go on the main stage [the year before]. He was on the pre-show. Him and YG. That’s my dog so you know I know. We talked about this stuff. So, he really upset about that. You remember last year when he went to the BET Awards, he got into it with the security guards ’cause he act like he ain’t know who he was.”

“So, how do we get from there…now, if I would have did that, I wouldn’t have even been invited to the awards the next year,” P said, insinuating that if Nipsey were still alive, he probably wouldn’t have been invited to this year’s show.

“Let’s be honest. So, that’s what I’m saying. You going with what’s hot, the trending topics, instead of what’s right. I mean, Nipsey’s my dog, but Snoop [Dogg] has been doing stuff in those communities for at least 15 years. I’ve been in those same communities for over 21 years. Think about it. Me and YG mama been feeding the people at least five, six years. Why he didn’t get no award?”

Boonk Gang Says His Jaw Will Be Wired Shut For 6 Weeks After Getting Punched in the Face

You won’t be hearing from too much from Boonk Gang over the next six weeks because his jaw is wired shut.

Earlier this week, the social media menace turned rapper was seen in a viral video getting punched in the face.

The brief clip showed Boonk getting hit just one time, but apparently, that one hit was so lethal (or maybe he was hit more times after the camera cut off) that it broke his jaw in two places.

Boonk—who also goes by his rap name “John Gabbana”—shared a series of graphic videos on Instagram Sunday (Jul. 14) showing off his injuries, writing in the caption of one clip: “They knocked out most of my teeth bruh with that cheap sh*t bruh.”

The next day, he took to Instagram once again, this time to reveal that he had to have his jaw wired shut for the next six weeks.

“Face fat af man,” he wrote. “My [jaw] wired together for 6 weeks. Surgery went well … Thanks for all the support & love [middle finger emoji] Who hating.”

He can be seen in the video below talking through a surgically clenched jaw. “Six weeks, with my mouth wired together,” he said.

Boonk Gang (born: John Robert Hill Jr.) is known for his ridiculous antics on social media, particularly for taking things out of people’s hands and running away from them, or just acting a whole entire fool inside establishments like fast-food restaurants, convenience stores, Walmart and more.

Boonk’s popularity sparked a trend of people recording themselves snatching things from people and running off while yelling his catchphrase “Boonk Gang! Whole lotta gang sh*t!”

When he joined Instagram in April 2017, his first video showed him going behind the counter of a Popeye’s and walking out with a box of chicken. The video garnered more than a million views within four months.

In July, Boonk—a native of Miami, Florida—celebrated reaching one million followers on Instagram by stripping down to his underwear and throwing milkshakes all over himself inside a local Chick-fil-A.

That same month, he was arrested and charged with burglary and petty theft for taking a tray of doughnuts from a Dunkin’ Donuts in Miami Gardens two months prior.

He returned the doughnuts at the request of an employee and later pleaded not guilty and was sentenced to 60 days in probation.

In late June 2018, Boonk posted a number of sexually explicit videos to his Instagram stories showing him performing various sex acts with a woman in a hotel room.

The videos quickly went viral and Instagram eventually deleted his account in early July.

Later that month, he posted on Snapchat that he had gotten shot twice, but an insider at the hospital where he was treated said his bullet wounds were “self-inflicted.”

Just two weeks prior to him “getting shot,” he went viral on social media after a video showed him falling and hitting his head on a wall after he showed up high as a kite to an interview on Adam 22’s No Jumper podcast.

And now … in July 2019, Boonk Gang’s jaw will be wired shut for the next six weeks after getting punched in the face on camera.

What is it with this guy and the month of July? Is it the Miami heat?

Dwight Howard Says He Feels Liberated After Dealing With Rumors Regarding His Sexuality: “It Really Just Set Me Free”

After facing allegations regarding his sexuality last year, Dwight Howard is opening up about how the situation affected him and “liberated” him to just be.

Howard spoke candidly in a two-part interview on FS1’s Fair Game with Kristine Leahy. The NBA player says he very hurt and isolated himself after a gay man publicly claimed they were in a relationship together.

Howard—who says he’s not gay and has never met his accuser—says the experience changed his thinking and set him free.

“I went through a situation last year that kind of, um, just, it really just set me free,” he said. “I saw all the hate, the pure hate, from people that I never met before just pile up everywhere I went against me.”

“I think that liberated me, because I saw how a lot of people would feel, whether they’re gay or they’re straight, or whether they have issues, people are afraid to be who they are. They’re afraid to just step out and be…because they’re afraid of what other people might say or think about them. And so that situation made me realize, you not like this, but just be you, be free.”

“I’m not gay,” Howard continued. “It’s a lot of people who are and they have to hide, and there’s people who have mental issues and they have to hide. There’s people who have different problems in life and they have to hide. They have to put on the mask every day, and it’s like, I don’t wanna wear no mask, I just wanna be.”

Last year, a man named Masin Elije claimed online that he and Howard had been in romantic relationship and it ended because Howard was allegedly cheating with other men.

Elije then alleged Howard and his pastor tired to pay him “hush money” and force him to sign and nondisclosure agreement.

“People were talking about it, and it upset me because I didn’t even know who the person was,” Howard said in the interview. “Why would somebody who I never met, never had any contact with, make up a whole story about me.”

Elije filed a lawsuit against Howard in March. The NBA star countersued.

19-Year-Old Rapper Tay-K Found Guilty of Murder, Faces Life in Prison

Rapper Tay-K could possibly spend the rest of his life in prison after being found guilty of murder by a North Texas jury Friday morning (Jul. 19).

The 19-year-old, whose real name is Taymor McIntyre, was on trial for a 2016 home invasion that resulted in the murder of a 21-year-old father named Ethan Walker.

Walker, a father-of-one, was shot in the stomach after he told McIntyre and a group of other robbers that he didn’t have any drugs or money.

Prosecutors said it was a 15-year-old girl who actually planned the home invasion robbery, and earlier this week, one of her friends testified that she contacted McIntyre on Instagram asking him to help her get guns for the robbery.

McIntyre responded to her DM, saying that he didn’t have a gun but his friends did and he knew one who was “trigger happy.”

According to the testimony from Megan Holt, McIntyre recruited three of his friends—Latharian Merrit, Sean Robinson and Jalen Bell—for the robbery.

Holt said Merrit had a .40-caliber Glock with an extended clip on it when he arrived at the apartment for the robbery, while Sean Robinson had a .38-caliber gun and Jalen Bell was armed with brass knuckles.

As for McIntyre, Holt said: “He was kind of scared. He wanted ot make sure that his friends had his back if something was to go wrong because he was walking in there unarmed. Scared isn’t the right word. Maybe a little nervous. Unsure.”

Because McIntyre wasn’t the one who fired the weapon, his attorneys argued that he should be found not guilty, however, prosecutors said McIntyre was complicit in the crime, and knew the robbery would end up with someone being shot.

The young rapper—who gained notoriety when he went on the run after the murder and recorded a song and video about fleeing from police—pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery by threats in the robbery of Walker’s girlfriend and another man who was present in the home in Mansfield at the time of the incident.

He pleaded not guilty to capital murder and a separate count of aggravated robbery in connection to the robbery and shooting of Ethan Walker’s roommate Zachary Beloate, who was shot in the shoulder, but survived.

For Walker’s murder, McIntyre faces between five and 99 years in prison, CBS DFW reports.

Kim Kardashian Contacted White House to Free A$AP Rocky from “Inhumane” Swedish Prison, Thanks Trump for His Help on Twitter

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have been fighting for A$AP Rocky’s release from a Swedish prison for several weeks. In fact, Kim personally contacted the White House for their assistance, which worked.

Kim took to Twitter on Thursday (Jul. 18) to thank President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for getting involved in A$AP’s case.

“Your commitment to justice reform is so appreciated,” she wrote in part.

It was reported on Thursday that Kim and Kanye became “very concerned” upon learning A$AP was being held in a Swedish prison with “inhumane conditions.” A$AP was detained July 2nd following an altercation with fans.

Kim—who has worked closely with Trump and the White House on prison reform over the past year—contacted Jared Kushner and informed him about the situation. Kushner relayed the information to Trump who reportedly agreed A$AP was “being held unfairly.”

Sources say that West urged Kardashian, who met with the president about prison reform earlier this year, to contact Trump’s son-in-law and senior advisor Jared Kushner.

He took the matter to the president, who encouraged him to get involved, as did Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

TMZ Reports that a State Department member was expected to arrive in Sweden today (Jul. 18), and that the department has become involved in working for Rocky’s release.

Earlier this week, a spokesperson for the State Department expressed concerns over how A$AP was being treated while detained in Sweden.

“There are certainly some facts about the arrest and detention that raise concerns. We expect all governments, including Sweden, to treat American citizens fairly and with respect. We hope to see A$AP Rocky and his colleagues back on tour and reunited with friends and family soon.”

A$AP Rocky has been held in the Kronoberg Detention Center in Sweden since July 2nd after an altercation with fans who had been harassing him and members of his entourage.

Though not officially charged, the rapper is being held while prosecutors decide whether to charge him with assault or let him go. They have until Friday (Jul. 19) to make that decision.

However, it is being alleged A$AP is being held in “inhumane conditions,” including solitary confinement, inedible food, and forced to sleep on a mat.

A$AP’s manager John Ehmann was the first to make the claims. The Swedish Prosecutor’s Office denied the inhumane treatment allegations.

Last week, Snoop Dogg made a public plea encouraging Kim and Kanye to help free A$AP.

“You’ve been gettin’ all kinda n***as out of jail this year. Go get Rocky outta jail,” he said in an Instagram video. “Look out for us.”

“Love & Hip Hop” Star Mendeecees Harris is Getting Out of Prison Early

Things are looking up for Love & Hip Hop star Mendeecees Harris.

According to a report from Bossip, a year and a half from now, Harris will officially be a free man.

The site reports that Mendeecees will be released from prison in November 2020, at least three years earlier than expected.

Mendeecees was originally sentenced to a minimum of 97 months (or 8 years) in prison back in December 2015 after he pleaded guilty to drug trafficking.

Harris confessed to being a part of a massive drug ring that transported millions of dollars worth of cocaine and heroin across New York between 2005 and 2012. He admitted he was a part of the operation between 2006 and 2008.

Harris fought the sentence, but it was ultimately upheld in appeals court. He had already served 15 months prior to being granted bail in the case, which was considered time served, court records stated.

After all is said and done, Mendeecees will have served five years of his original eight-year sentence.

Bossip reports that the 40-year-old was initially incarcerated in a facility in Pennsylvania, but he’s since been transferred to a medium-security facility in New Jersey, likely to be closer to his wife, Yandy Smith-Harris and his four children (one of whom he shares with Yandy).

Mendeecees noted in court docs that he completed a substance abuse prevention class as well as courses in money management and parenting from prison. He also said he took classes for health, nutrition and public speaking.

ABC Looking to Permanently Add Keke Palmer to “Good Morning America”

From the TV screen to the movie screen, 2019 has already been a busy year for Keke Palmer. And now the word on the street is that she’s being considered for a permanent job in daytime television.

Palmer has been guest co-hosting the ABC talk show, Strahan and Sara, all summer long while co-host Sara Haines is on maternity leave.

However, the chemistry between Palmer and host Michael Strahan is undeniable and viewers’ response to Palmer’s addition has been overwhelmingly positive.

Sources exclusively tell Love B. Scott that ABC execs “are trying to ‘figure out’ how to make Keke a permanent part of the Good Morning America family.”

Last week, Palmer had a viral moment on Strahan and Sara when she had a message for racist trolls and defended Disney’s decision to cast Halle Bailey as Ariel in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.

Palmer has also recently been taking the lead of the hosting duties while Strahan is away working on other projects. A rotating cycle of celebrity guest hosts have joined the 25-year-old.

Strahan and Sara initially premiered in 2018 as a third hour of the Good Morning America brand with the title GMA Day. It was rebranded in January 2019 to diminish its GMA ties and focus on its hosts Strahan and Haines, similar to Today with Kathie Lee & Hoda, now known as Today with Hoda & Jena.

It’s unlikely ABC will replace Haines, so the challenge is to figure out how to incorporate Palmer on a regular, if not permanent, basis. B. Scott suggested the title “Strahan and Sara Have a Keke.”

In addition to her summer hosting gig, Palmer has a leading role in the VH1 series Scream and co-stars with Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B, and Lizzo in the upcoming film Hustlers.

35-Year-Old Father of Seven Drowns in Ocean While Trying to Save His Two Kids Swept Away by Wave

A Sunday trip to the beach turned into a tragedy after a father drowned while attempting to rescue his children who had been swept away by a strong wave.

Johnny Lee Vann Jr., 35, and his family wanted to spend a day at Wrightsville Beach in North Carolina after church service on Sunday (Jul. 14). Suddenly, two of his children were swept off a jetty wall and carried into the ocean.

The father of seven quickly jumped in the water to save his kids.

“He never hesitated. He threw everything down—phone, keys—and ran out there,” Johnny’s wife Dawn Vann told reporters. “What any father would do in that situation.”

Johnny was able to rescue one child, but began to struggle after going back into the ocean to save the second. He refused help from bystanders as the current took him under, encouraging them to help his child instead.

“They could’ve easily saved him,” Dawn recalled. “He said, ‘Forget about me. Get my kids.’ He didn’t care about nothing else.”

The rough waters pulled Johnny underwater for 30 seconds. After saving the second child, a rescue crew pulled him out of the water and performed CPR for 45 minutes. They were unable to resuscitate him.

“You couldn’t ask for a better person,” Dawn said. “You could have took anybody else. I mean me personally, I would’ve preferred to take me than him.”

Dawn says she is in shock and denial of the tragic loss of her husband—who always “put his family first.” She also described him as “the best man you could ever imagine to ever have in your life.”

“His spirit is still alive and we’re all going to remember him as a hero,” Johnny’s daughter Kierstyn told a local news outlet.

A GoFundMe page has been created to help cover funeral expenses as well as potential grief counseling, relocation expenses, and to help transport Johnny’s body to Michigan to be buried next to his mother.

“Johnny was known to his family and friends as a pillar of jovial spirit,” the GoFundMe reads. “His smile could light up any room and was guaranteed to put a smile on your face.”

Sunday’s tragic incident has reignited ongoing concerns about the jetty wall which is completely submerged during high-tide. Warning signs to stay off the jetty were blown away during Hurricane Matthew back in 2016 and were never replaced.

Dawn feels the jetty should be made taller or completely removed. “It’s still dangerous,” she said.

Witness Andre Neil says the nearest lifeguard station where the incident took place is too far away.

“If there was a lifeguard station right here yesterday, this would not have happened,” he said.

Macy Gray Claims She’s a Vampire in Bizarre Interview: “I Want to Just Go Bite People, But It’s Illegal” (VIDEO)

We all know that Macy Gray is a little left of center with her kooky sense of humor, but a recent TV interview was so bizarre that many viewers were left feeling a little concerned for the singer.

Gray appeared on the British morning show Lorraine with Lorraine Kelly earlier this week. The 51-year-old briefly discussed a recent hospital visit due to a blood-related issue and that’s when things took a turn.

“I’m a vampire,” she said. “I have a low blood count, so like every two or three years I run out of blood.”

Now this statement alone could just be an off-the-cuff joke that Gray’s strange mind conjured up. But that’s not where it ended.

“I want to just go bite people, but it’s illegal,” Gray added, to which the British host advised her just to continue seeking treatment at hospitals.

Later during the interview, Gray complained about having to be up so early to do to the morning talk show.

“Why do you guys go on so early?” she asked. “You should shoot it at night and then tell people it’s live, that’s an idea. Why do it in the morning?”

And as the host attempted to pivot to discuss Gray’s upcoming headlining performance at the WOMAD Festival, Gray asked directions for her next interview.

“Where is Malmesbury, how long will it take to get there in the car?” she asked.

Following the bizarre appearance, viewers took to Twitter to express the concerns for the singer as they processed what they had just watched.

Black Twitter Slams Madonna for Posting Photos of Black Daughters Posing With Watermelon Slices

Pop legend Madonna is not too popular with Black Twitter at the moment. The entertainer is under fire for posting pictures of her two adopted African daughters that are culturally insensitive.

Madonna recently posted a series of controversial photos of the twin Black girls to her Instagram story. In the photos, each girl is posing with a slice of watermelon as if the fruit is a dress they are wearing.

Given the racial history and stereotypes associated with Black people and watermelons (along with fried chicken), Black Twitter did not appreciate the photos, especially since the mother of six only depicted her two Black children in the photos.

 

In 2014, The Atlantic explained how watermelon has been used as a racist trope against black people since the Civil War. The magazine reported:

The trope came into full force when slaves won their emancipation during the Civil War. Free black people grew, ate, and sold watermelons, and in doing so made the fruit a symbol of their freedom. Southern whites, threatened by blacks’ newfound freedom, responded by making the fruit a symbol of black people’s perceived uncleanliness, laziness, childishness, and unwanted public presence.

While Madonna is most likely not racist, she is severely tone-deaf and may be feeling just a little too comfortable because she’s the mother of black children.

And, unfortunately, this is not the first time she’s found herself in hot water for some racially insensitive mess.

In 2014, she posted a photo of her white son Rocco with the hashtag #DisN***a. She apologized and deleted the post.

Alabama Rapper Arrested in Atlanta After Throwing $250K Worth of Meth Over Balcony

An Alabama rapper was arrested in Atlanta after he allegedly tossed $250,000 worth of meth over an apartment balcony during a police raid.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, drug and gang agents were executing a search warrant at an Atlanta residence last Wednesday (Jul. 10) when 37-year-old Kelvin James Dark—who goes by the rap names “Mr. Alabama” and “K Digga”—threw nearly six kilos of methamphetamine off the high-rise apartment’s balcony.

Police, after sweeping the entire apartment, safely recovered the meth on a nearby street.

GBI agents also found two semi-automatic rifles, a handgun, more than 13 pounds of marijuana and cash in the residence.

Dark was charged with trafficking methamphetamine and marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

A woman who was with Dark, 33-year-old Tiffany Peterson (pictured along with Dark below), was also arrested and charged with trafficking meth and weed and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

GBI officials said in a news release that the arrests were “part of an ongoing investigation into subjects smuggling contraband via domestic and international flights” and “additional arrests are anticipated” as the investigation continues.

The Television Academy saw When They See Us and were impressed. The emotional Ava DuVernay series just received 16 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Limited Series and a lead actor nomination for Jharrel Jerome.

“I’m going crazy over here. I feel like I’m on a whole other planet right now,” Jerome told The Hollywood Reporter after receiving his first Emmy nomination.

DuVernay was nominated for directing and writing the series. Jerome is glad she’s being recognized for her dedication in telling this important story.

“I’m so proud of her. I was hoping that the Emmys would really receive When They See Us the way the world received it and would understand the importance of it. And just respect her brilliance and her integrity. The reason we did what we did was because of her.”

In the four-part Netflix series about the wrongfully convicted Central Park Five—now known as the Exonerated Five—and their journeys to justice and freedom, Jerome plays Korey Wise. He was the only actor to portray one of the five men from childhood to adulthood.

“The first time I met Korey, he took off the chain around his neck and put it on my neck and said, ‘You’re the king now. You’re Korey Wise,'” Jerome recalled.

Jerome says he continues to be inspired by Wise and the rest of the Exonerated Five. He also believes the series has somewhat brought about justice regarding the repercussions the prosecutors have faced since the show’s release.

“I’m proud to know that these men are out there in the world,” Jerome said. “As for everyone else, it’s just the way the world responds, and however they respond is how they choose to respond. For me, I’m just happy with the smiles on the faces of these men and that’s what’s most important to me.”

[Prosecutor Linda] Fairstein, who is now a novelist, was dropped by her publisher Dutton and resigned from the boards of nonprofit Safe Horizon and Vassar College. She also stepped down from the boards for God’s Love We Deliver and the Joyful Heart Foundation.

In turn, [Prosecutor Elizabeth] Lederer informed Columbia Law School that she would not seek reappointment as a part-time lecturer as a professor at Columbia Law School.

In addition to DuVernay and Jerome, several other members of the cast received nominations including Niecy Nash, who played Jerome’s onscreen mother.

“Just to have shared those scenes with her and for both of us to come out with a nomination, that means everything in the world to me because we put our hearts and souls into those scenes,” Jerome said of working with Nash.

When They See Us is still available on Netflix. The 71st Emmys will be held September 22nd and broadcast live on Fox.

Sadie Roberts-Joseph’s Alleged Murderer Arrested, Sex Offender Suspect Was a Tenant in One of Her Homes & Owed Rent

An arrest has been made in the death of Baton Rouge civil rights activist Sadie Roberts-Joseph.

Baton Rouge police announced the arrest of 38-year-old Ronn Jermaine Bell Tuesday (Jul. 16) in a news conference, The Advocate reports.

Police said Bell, who is a registered sex offender, was a tenant of Roberts-Joseph in one of her properties.

He was reportedly was several months behind on his rent and owed her $1,200, but Chief Murphy Paul said a motive hadn’t been officially determined.

“There’s no information which leads us to believe this is a hate crime,” Paul said. “There’s no information which leads us to believe that this incident was motivated by Ms. Sadie’s activism or her community efforts.”

Sadie Roberts-Joseph, an icon in the black community and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was found dead Friday afternoon (Jul. 12) in the trunk of a car located about three miles away from her home.

According to results of a preliminary autopsy released on Monday (Jul. 15) by the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office, 75-year-old Roberts-Joseph died from “traumatic asphyxia,” including suffocation, which could be the result of strangulation, however, the coroner didn’t specify exactly how she was killed. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Video evidence showed the murder suspect near where Roberts-Joseph’s car and body were found Friday, and an affidavit said that his DNA was found on her body.

Bell acknowledged during the investigation that he was behind on his rent, but had been given permission by Roberts-Joseph to stay at the home as long as he paid her something.

Roberts-Joseph’s death shocked the Baton Rouge community and left it in a state of mourning. The activist was the founder and curator of the city’s African-American history museum and hosted the annual Juneteenth festivities.

Local and state leaders have mourned her loss and have been praising Roberts-Joseph’s accomplishments in the days since her tragic death.

“I’m heartbroken that our community has lost such a kind and selfless soul in such a violent, tragic manner,” East Baton Rouge Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said in a statement.

“I have known and loved Mrs. Sadie Roberts-Joseph for years and admire and respect her dedication to education and our community. … Hate tried to silence Mrs. Sadie, but her voice will continue to ring strong for peace and love through the countless people she touched.”

State Representative C. Denise Marcelle of Baton Rouge called Roberts-Joseph “an icon,” while Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome lauded her as “a mother of our community.”

Ronn Bell has a criminal record that dates back to the early 2000s for a child rape case. He was arrested in 2006 after being accused of raping a 9-year-old child in 2004 when he was 23 years old.

He was charged with aggravated rape, but ended up copping to a sexual battery charge after taking a plea deal and was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Police said Bell had already been arrested and jailed Monday on another charge related to violating the requirements for registered sex offenders when he was ID’d as a suspect in the murder of Sadie Roberts-Joseph. He was rebooked Tuesday afternoon on a count of first-degree murder.

R. Kelly Denied Bond After Prosecutors Call Him a “Danger to the Community, Especially to Minor Girls”

A Chicago judge ordered R. Kelly to be held in jail without bail Tuesday (Jul. 16) after federal prosecutors called him “an extreme danger to the community, especially to minor girls,” The Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The 52-year-old singer was in U.S. District Court in Chicago for a bond hearing after he was arrested on two new federal indictments last week alleging that he paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to recover videotapes of himself having sex with underage girls, and also that he pressured witnesses to change their stories before testifying in the child porn trial that ended with his acquittal in 2008.

Kelly, who was shackled and wearing an orange jumpsuit, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The judge’s decision to keep Kelly in jail without bail means that he’ll remain in custody when he’s taken to New York City to face a separate indictment alleging that he sexually abused underage girls.

At his hearing, prosecutors argued against Kelly’s release, with one saying: “This risk of obstruction is real. This risk is ongoing. This risk is heightened by the defendant’s fame and power.”

Assistant U.S. Attorney Angel Krull told Judge Harry Leinenweber that Kelly “has a unique ability to influence and intimidate witnesses and victims, and that continues to this day.”

Kelly’s lawyer, Steve Greenberg, however, denied that the troubled singer is a flight risk because he’s turned in his passport and isn’t too fond of flying anyway.

“Unlike his most famous song — ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ — Mr. Kelly doesn’t like to fly,” Greenberg said. “How could he flee? He has no money. There’s no evidence that he’s a risk to minors at all at this point.”

But prosecutors, who have threatened to put Kelly behind bars for the rest of his life, weren’t trying to hear all that noise.

“The defendant can entice girls to his own doorstep, he doesn’t have to leave his home to do that,” Krull said.

In New York and Chicago, the troubled singer faces a combined 18 counts for alleged crimes against 10 victims.

In Chicago alone, Kelly faces a maximum of 195 years, with some charges carrying a mandatory sentence of at least 10 years, and he faces even decades more in New York.

On top of that, he’s facing Illinois state charges that could put him behind bars for up to 30 years.

Despite the outcome, Kelly’s “girlfriends” (aka alleged sex slaves) Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary were all smiles in court as they put on a united front.

Contradicting a previous report stating that the girls had been evicted from Kelly’s home in Trump Tower Chicago, Savage and Clary released a video claiming that they are still living comfortably there together and are not being held against their will.

Also, regardless of what happens to Kelly, the rent is paid through December or January, so they’ll at least have a roof over there heads until then.

The singer is expected to be extradited to New York eventually to face charges there.

It also measures in at 12-inches—which even though we know Safaree is blessed, still seems an exaggerated length. But hey, I’m sure the purported size will help with sales.

Safaree received several offers from porn and adult toy companies last year after a video of his junk “accidentally” leaked and basically broke the internet.

He ultimately signed a million-dollar deal with Doc Johnson in August 2018. The deal includes a model of his manhood (the Anaconda) and is expected to include other products to be revealed later.

NFL Player Who Lost Arm in Car Crash Undergoes 6th Surgery, Staying in High Spirits: “I’m Alive and I’m Grateful”

Miami Dolphins defensive end Kendrick Norton is in high spirits despite having his arm amputated nearly two weeks ago after a horrible car accident.

Norton just underwent his sixth surgery since the July 4th accident in which he sideswiped a Maserati, crashed into a concrete barrier, and his Ford pick-up truck flipped onto its roof.

The 22-year-old spoke to CBS Miami last week in his first interview since losing his arm. He says he’s just grateful to be alive.

“I’m alive. One thing keeps me going and that is that I am still able to be here. Seeing my family is so important. It’s very good that I have this support system. It keeps me strong and it keeps me tall.”

He also appreciates the support from his teammates and fans.

“I’m staying strong because all of the support from all of the fans, all of the teams, my family and everyone,” he said from his Jackson Memorial Hospital bed.

“That’s what’s pushing me, my faith and the support from my family, my grandparents, my sports agent. Everyone is going above and beyond for me for nothing in return. Just to see people who have been supporting me is just great.”

The NFL and the Dolphins are paying for his medical expenses through insurance. A GoFundMe page has also been created to cover any other expenses.

Norton and his female passenger suffered major injuries; they were not wearing seatbelts. No one in the Maserati was injured.

According to TMZ, Norton was cited for an improper lane change and cutting off another vehicle. He caused $15,000 worth of damage to the concrete barrier, but it’s unclear if he’ll be charged for the damage.

Norton was a seventh-round draft pick in 2018. Though he never played in an NFL game, he’s grateful and trying to have a positive outlook on his future.

“I realize that I will not be able to play football anymore. We are working past that, you know. That reality is sinking in,” he said. “I’m alive and I’m grateful. Now I want to organize a blood drive.”

He continued: “If you have something in the glass, you are OK. A lot of people have glasses with not much in them or glasses that are empty. So, if your glass is half full, you are OK.”

The cause of death of the beloved 75-year-old civil rights activists found deceased in a trunk has been determined.

According to results of a preliminary autopsy released on Monday (Jul. 15) by the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office, Sadie Roberts-Joseph died from traumatic asphyxia, including suffocation.

Her death has been ruled a homicide.

East Baton Rouge coroner, Beau Clark, released the following statement:

“It’s with great sadness and respect that we investigate any unexpected or traumatic death. When our investigation involves an innocent victim, such as Ms. Sadie Roberts-Joseph, it is particularly tragic. Our condolences are extended to Ms. Joseph’s family and friends.”

Roberts-Joseph’s body was tragically found in the trunk of a car last Friday, just three miles from her home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. However, it’s unclear to whom the car belonged.

Police haven’t released many details regarding their investigation, but say members of the community have come forward to help.

Roberts-Joseph’s death has shocked the Baton Rouge community and left it in a state of mourning. The activist was the founder and curator of the city’s African-American museum and hosted the annual Juneteenth festivities.

“We mourn the loss of Sadie Roberts–Joseph and offer condolences to her family, loved ones and the Baton Rouge community,” the NAACP said in a statement. “Black women must be protected at all costs—justice must be swift.”

Police are investigating whether the 75-year-old had received any threats prior to her death, but they say that it’s too early to determine if her murder was racially motivated.

Last month, rapper Lil Nas X announced to the world that he’s gay. The “Old Town Road” singer-rapper revealed the news on the last day of Pride Month.

While many have shown support and congratulated Lil Nas X on his decision to come out, one celebrity, in particular, believes he should have kept it a secret.

During a recent interview with Adam22 on No Jumper, Young Thug—who also appears on the remix to Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road”—said the overnight rap sensation shouldn’t have come out of the closet because people will now only see him as being that gay rapper.

“I feel like he probably shouldn’t have told the world,” Thug told Adam 22. “He shouldn’t have told the world. These days, motherf**kers, it’s just all judgment. Motherf**kers is just judging. It ain’t even about the music no more.

“Once you found out he was gay, as soon as the song come on now, everybody like, “this gay-ass n**ga”. N**gas don’t even care to listen to the song no more… It’s just like, to certain people, you know what I’m saying?”

Thug also spoke on all the backlash Lil Nas X will receive over his coming out. Thug said that he went through the same thing and knows exactly how Lil Nas X is feeling right now.

“I just feel like he young, and backlash can come behind anything,” Thugger noted. “[His coming out] wasn’t a bad idea, and it was most definitely the best time to do it, during Pride. That was the best time to do it. That was a G’s move.

“But he young, and I know he going to be dealing with it in his mind. I dealt with this sh*t before. I know what he dealing with. So I was like, “F**k, he should have never said that, never should have told them.”

For years now Young Thug has sparked and perpetuated gay rumors, but has never outright confirmed if they were true or not.
