Lil Durk Released From Jail After Paying $250K Bond in Attempted Murder Case

Lil Durk was happy as hell to be released from jail late Thursday night (Jun. 21) after posting $250K bond earlier in the day.

Video footage shared on social media showed Durk skipping and hopping out of the Fulton County Jail after bailing himself out in his attempted murder case.

The rapper was finally granted a bond after a hearing Thursday, but his release does come with a few restrictions.

For one, he’ll have a curfew between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. and he’ll also be required to wear an ankle monitor 24/7.

Additionally, he’s prohibited from having ANY contact, whether direct or indirect, with gang members, he can neither be near nor possess any weapons, and he must stay at least 200 yards away from the victim and not communicate with them either.

Durk (real name: Durk Derrick Banks) turned himself in to Atlanta police last month after a warrant was issued for his arrest in relation to a February 5th shooting outside the popular downtown ATL restaurant The Varsity.

A detective reported seeing Durk on camera shooting a man while he was driving.

After seeing the video of the shooting, which implicated Durk, the judge found probable cause to charge the rapper and his co-defendant DeaVonte Bennett.

Durk was booked for five felony charges, including criminal intent to commit murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and associating with a criminal street gang to participate in a crime.

Maleah Davis Will Be Laid to Rest in a Custom-Made “My Little Pony” Casket

Maleah Davis, the 4-year-old Texas girl who captivated the city of Houston and gained national attention before eventually touching hearts all over the world after she went missing last month, will be buried this weekend in a custom-made “My Little Pony” casket.

The casket was a donation from SoulShine Industries, a mom-and-pop custom casket-making company based in Edna, Texas.

A private funeral for Maleah will be held on Saturday (Jun. 22), and according to her obituary, her “favorite color was pink and she loved My Little Pony, all the girly things one could imagine.”

In honor of her love of the popular media franchise, her custom-made casket is covered with rainbows and pictures of “My Little Pony” characters … and along the base, her full name—Maleah Lynn Davis—is spelled out in alternating Pink, Purple and Blue letters.

Maleah’s biological father, Craig Davis, shared images of the tiny casket on Instagram.

Trey Ganem, who owns SoulShine Industries, said he and his associates were moved by Maleah’s story, which inspired their decision to donate the casket.

“There was a connection with everyone in the shop,” he said. “Everyone had a connection with this little girl.”

Maleah was reported missing on May 4th, one day after her mother’s fiancé, Derion Vence, told police he had been carjacked by three Hispanic men who kidnapped Maleah.

Police have said they were suspicious of his story from the jump, and he was arrested a week later on May 11th and charged with tampering with a human corpse.

Maleah’s remains were found in a black garbage bag alongside Highway I-30 outside the town of Hope, Arkansas on May 31st. Police confirmed the remains belonged to Maleah Davis

According to a man who helped search for the little girl, the bag her body was found in had been run over by mowers, and her remains were in a such a horrible state that it would be “impossible” for the medical examiner to determine an official cause of death.

“It was a gruesome sight. It was a terrible sight to see. It took hours gathering up body parts and evidence,” said Texas EquuSearch founder Tim Miller.

Houston community activist Quanell X said Vence told him that he killed Maleah on accident and also admitted to dumping her body off a road in Arkansas.

According to Quanell, Vence and Bowens had gotten into an argument while Maleah was in his care, and when Bowens allegedly called Vence gay, he “snapped” and took his anger out on Maleah.

Quanell said Vence told him he put Maleah’s body in a trash bag, put the trash bag in the trunk of his car, and then drove to Arkansas before dumping the bag in a wooded area.

Vence was seen on security cameras leaving the family’s apartment with a laundry basket with a black trash bag inside just one day before reporting Maleah missing and a few days after the last time she was seen alive.

Ganem told The Houston Chronicle around 200 people contacted him about making a special casket to send Maleah off in, and Maleah’s aunt, along with designer Courtney Sublett, helped decide what should go on the casket, which features many of the things Maleah loved.

Ganem said all six members of his staff pitched in to help make Maleah’s casket special.

Since the ceremony will be closed-casket, his son Billy painted a photo of Maleah on top so that people could remember her as she was.

Upholsterer Randy Figirova personally selected the interior lining, Ganem said. “It was so soft, and it sparkles,” he told the Chronicle. “It’s like rainbow-colored sparkles.”

Ganem said a special casket like Maleah’s helps the family’s healing process. “It’s bringing light into a dark time,” he said. “It makes you happy to see a family smile.”

Chicago Rapper EBE Bandz aka Billy Da Kid Found Dead, 2 Men Arrested & Charged With His Murder

Two men have been charged with the death of rapper EBE Bandz (aka Billy Da Kid) and concealing his remains, which were found just six miles away from his home.

Bandz (real name: William Pickering) was reported missing on June 1st by his mother.

Days later, police in Rockford, Illinois revealed they were investigating a missing person report connected to what they called “suspicious activity” in regards to the 23-year-old rapper’s disappearance near the Valencia Apartments where he lived.

According to WIFR 23 News, on Thursday (Jun. 20), nearly a month after Pickering was last seen outside his apartment in Rockford, Illinois, detectives located a crime scene 60 miles away in Hanover Park, which eventually led police to find Pickering’s body in unincorporated Winnebago County—which is about six miles from his apartment (about a 10-15 minute drive).

Police arrested William Arzate and Manuel Ramirez, who are both 22 years old.

According to the criminal complaint (via the Rockford Register Star), Pickering died of blunt force trauma after Arzate hit him in the head with a baseball bat.

The criminal complaint states that Arzate and Ramirez then transported Pickering’s body to a wooded area in Winnebago County and set it on fire.

The complaint also says that Arzate acted “with two others” in murdering Pickering, but the other people aren’t named.

Arzate has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of concealing a homicide, and Ramirez was charged with one count of concealing homicide.

Arzate’s bail was set at $1 million, while Ramirez is being held on a $50,000 bond, the Rock River Times reports. Both men are in the Winnebago County Jail.

Rockford Police Chief Dan O’Shea said police are still looking for other people of interest.

Wendy Williams to Receive Hollywood Walk of Fame Star As She Takes the Reins of Her Career From Controlling Estranged Husband

Wendy Williams’ home life may be in shambles but her career is hotter than it’s ever been … and she’s ready to take it to even greater heights.

While speaking at the FWD conference in Charlotte on Thursday (Jun. 20), Williams stated her intentions of taking the reins of her career and business ventures.

She revealed just how much control her estranged husband Kevin Hunter—also her former manager—had over her career.

“Kev wouldn’t bring me in until he knew, ‘OK, the deal’s done. Now it’s time for you to meet the people.’ Not now, I wanna be in on the first conversation of the deal, and I wanna be on every meeting until the deal is done. That’s the way I roll.”

The statement may also add more context to the comment she recently made about Hunter treating her like a “show pony” throughout their marriage—a characterization that Hunter denounced.

“You’vee gotta be at the ground floor of your operation,” Williams advised the FWD audience. “I don’t care how big you get.”

“Don’t just rely on your team to bring back the information because you’re such a big shot and you don’t have to be there,” she continued.

Since filing for divorce in April, Williams fired Hunter as her manager, relieved him of his executive producing duties of The Wendy Williams Show, and dissolved their Hunter Foundation which provided resources for addicts seeking treatment.

It was also announced Thursday that Williams will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2020 for her contributions to television.

Cardi B Indicted on 2 Felonies & Multiple Charges for Allegedly Orchestrating Attack on 2 Female Bartenders for Sleeping With Offset

Cardi B has been indicted by a grand jury, including two felonies, stemming from an incident in a New York club last year.

Back in August, Cardi was accused of ordering members of her crew to attack two female bartenders at an NYC strip club, Jade and Baddie G, after Cardi accused Jade of sleeping with Offset.

Cardi’s crew incited a brawl in which bottles and chairs were thrown. Jade and Baddie G claimed they were injured in the fight.

Cardi turned herself in and was arrested in October for her alleged role in the matter. And according to TMZ, the grand jury has chosen to indict the rapper.

The grand jury has indicted Cardi on 14 charges, including 2 counts of felony attempted assault with intent to cause serious physical injury. Other charges include misdemeanor reckless endangerment, assault, criminal solicitation, conspiracy and harassment.

She was initially charged with 2 misdemeanors … assault and reckless endangerment, but that’s all superseded by the grand jury indictment.

Cardi rejected a plea deal, which would have given her a conditional discharge in return for pleading guilty to a single misdemeanor. The problem … if she misstepped during the conditional period, she’d be in big trouble.

TMZ reports that Cardi wasn’t too bothered by her legal woes.

She attended the ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Award in Beverly Hills last night with Offset where she picked up the Songwriter of the Year award.

Nicki Minaj’s Mama Carol Maraj is Itching to Have Her Own Singing Career

We don’t often get much insight into Nicki Minaj’s family tree, especially since that nastiness around her brother, Jelani Maraj, became headline news. But it looks like Nicki’s mama, Carol Maraj, is ready for her time in the spotlight.

Carol is apparently a musician in her own right. She’s a singer to be more precise. And Carol took to her Instagram account recently and shared a snippet of her music with the world.

Honestly, the song, “What Makes You,” sounds better than anything I was expecting. And you can definitely hear where Nicki gets her little “singing” streaks from as they sound a little similar, although Nicki dresses her vocals with generous doses of autotune, while Mama Carol keeps it au natural.

The real gag though is that Drake’s daddy, Dennis Graham, jumped onto Carol’s Instagram to shower her with praise.

It’s great to see that even though Drake and Nicki aren’t on speaking terms that their mama and daddy are still cool.

Especially since they’re both aspiring musicians. Just in case you missed it, you can take a listen to Dennis Graham’s little bop, “That on That,” that he released earlier this year.

I guess Old Money is coming for Young Money’s spot.

ESPN Benches LaVar Ball Over “Switch Gears With Me Any Day” Comment to Molly Qerim

While big mouths can sometimes net big ratings, it looks like ESPN is taking a hard stance on shutting up LaVar Ball’s big mouth. At least for a while.

For those who need a quick recap: The father of the Ball brothers Lonzo, LaMelo and LiAngelo landed in hot water recently over an exchange he had with ESPN anchor and Jalen Rose’s wife, Molly Qerim.

While Qerim was interviewing LaVar, she mentioned that she wanted to “change gears” in the interview to a different subject matter. LaVar smartly responded, “You can switch gears with me any day.”

Qerim and ESPN interpreted LaVar’s comments to be sexual in nature and ultimately, inappropriate.

Honestly, I didn’t interpret LaVar’s comments as being sexual in nature at all.

I took his comments to mean nothing more than, “I’m game for whatever you want to throw at me.” Which is pretty much what LaVar’s rep told TMZ his intentions were.

But Molly, ESPN and her husband, Jalen Rose, all disagree.

ESPN put out a strong statement reprimanding the pompous basketball daddy: “LaVar Ball’s comment to Molly Qerim Rose was completely inappropriate and we made him aware of that.”

And now, ESPN is backing up its words with action. Richard Deitsch of The Athletic reported that ESPN stated it has no plans to allow LaVar on the air in the near future.

Honestly, a statement like this is pretty toothless. The NBA season is over and Lonzo just got massively downgraded after the Lakers traded him to the New Orleans Pelicans.

So canceling LaVar as his stock went down isn’t really doing much to hurt their ratings. But let LaVar or one of his sons become a top news item in sports again and I’m sure LaVar will be back on ESPN in the blink of an eye.

Kandi Burruss’ Husband Todd Tucker Defends “Bonding” With His Daughter at the Strip Club & Encourages Other Parents to Do the Same

Todd Tucker took “daddy day care” to an entirely new level and he doesn’t care what you think. In fact, he believes more dads should take their daughters to the strip club.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta husband received backlash for taking his 23-year-old daughter, Kaela, to a strip club for her birthday. He shared a clip of the unconventional father-daughter bonding outing on Instagram.

“@kpt__ watch out for the bootie!” he captioned the video in which Kaela is seen sipping a drink while a woman dances behind her.

Despite the backlash, in an interview with TMZ, Todd defended taking his daughter to the strip club, explaining that it’s a “cool” way for them to bond and for her to open up to him.

“Taking your kid to the strip club is cool. It’s bonding. We throw some one’s together, smack a couple of booties but it shows that dad is cool. She’s able to have those good conversations with me.

“Exposure is key. My mom exposed me early. So I’m exposing her to London, Paris and Amsterdam and the strip club…. Not a big deal.”

He also encouraged more parents to spend time and bond with their children, even if it’s at the strip club.

“Do some things with [your kids]. And everything doesn’t have to be the ‘normal thing,'” he said. “Sometimes you got to do something out of the box with your child to break through and be able to communicate with them in ways you never thought of.”

This isn’t even the first time Todd and Kaela have gone to the strip club together.

“We’ve been to Magic City before, it ain’t no big deal,” he said before throwing in an unexpected revelation: “Me and my mom even went to the strip club.”

And one more anecdote on Todd’s late mother: he shared that she talked about sex with him in elementary school and gave him condoms.

While it didn’t give him the license to have sex at a young age, he says it helped opened up the dialogue between him and his mother.

There are obliviously a million places Todd could have taken Kaela to bond and celebrate her birthday. But one does have to wonder if he would have received the same backlash if he took his 23-year-old son to a strip club. Just a thought.

Kandi Burruss has not commented on the controversy and it’s also unclear if RHOA cameras captured Todd and Kaela’s European adventure.

In news that should surprise absolutely no one, Zion Williamson was selected in the 2019 NBA Draft as the No. 1 overall pick to join the New Orleans Pelicans in the upcoming basketball season.

Just days ago, the Pelicans—who won the draft lottery earlier this year—traded Anthony Davis to the Lakers for a slew of new players, including Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks (including the fourth overall pick).

And Zion has been on everyone’s radar since 2017 when he was a five-star recruit at Spartanburg Day School in South Carolina (He even had Drake rocking his high school jersey). Then he went to Duke and killed it for a year.

As Yahoo! Sports put it: “There is no precedent for his 22.6 points (70.8 effective field-goal percentage), 8.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.8 blocks in 30 minutes per game for the Blue Devils, all of which solidified his status as a generational talent.”

So it was a no-brainer that, as the No. 1 Draft Pick, Zion would be selected first overall by the Pelicans, yet that didn’t stop him from getting emotional after it was all said and done.

In an interview with ESPN after the announcement, Zion broke into tears while doting on his loving mother, Sharon Sampson, who he says made all of this possible.

“I didn’t think I’d be here in this position,” he said. “My mom sacrificed a lot for me. I wouldn’t be here without my mom. She did everything for me. I just want to thank her.”

Porsha Williams & Fiancé Dennis McKinley Break Up 8 Months After Engagement Amid Cheating Rumors

Porsha Williams and Dennis McKinley have officially called off their engagement.

Though no statement has been released by the former couple, E! News was the first to confirm the split. The outlet reports:

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star and her fiancé have called it quits, E! News can confirm.

Fans had a feeling there was trouble in paradise after they noticed the reality star had unfollowed her main man on Instagram. However, this wasn’t the first sign their relationship was on the rocks.

Hours before news of the split broke, Porsha posted this message on Instagram: “Dear God, I made it out of bed this morning…Thank you so much.”

An unnamed relative tells Us Weekly that it’s unlikely the couple will work things out.

“There is a tiny, tiny, tiny chance they would get back together,” the relative said. “[But] likely no.”

Porsha and Dennis began dating in June 2018 and became engaged just three months later, a proposal that was captured on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

The two welcomed their first child, Pilar, in March.

Porsha sparked relationship troubles when she posted a few cryptic messages and unfollowed Dennis on Instagram back in May. Her sister and mother did the same, and she attempted to quell break-up rumors by re-following Dennis on the social media platform.

Even so, cheating rumors soon began to spread. It was alleged by vlogger Tasha K. that Dennis had cheated on Porsha with WAGS star Sincerely Ward.

Dennis denied the “slanderous allegations” and took action to sue Tasha K.

Dennis said in a statement earlier this month:

“These false and slanderous allegations against me are made solely to damage my reputation, jeopardize my ongoing businesses, and negatively impact my family.

“My attempts to ignore this slander have only empowered Latasha Kebe (aka Tasha K.) to create more false accusations. I am currently taking legal action—and am currently being represented by Michael T. Sterling of Dreyer Sterling, LLC.”

Ward also denied the “bizarre” cheating rumors, stating that she had never met Dennis before and respects Porsha too much to interfere with her relationship.

A source previously told Radar Online that disagreements on financial issues and parenting strained the relationship.

Despite the breakup, Porsha seems to be pushing through for the sake of her daughter. Earlier this week, she praised Dennis on Father’s Day.

“Happy 1st Father’s Day Dennis! Pj is blessed to have such a wonderful dad like you,” she wrote. “It’s beautiful to witness the bond you have with our tiny angel.”

Lil Durk is finally a free man … at least for now.

The Chicago rapper appeared in court Thursday (Jun. 20) in Atlanta for a bond hearing in his attempted murder case, which the judge granted and set at $250K.

LHHATL Star Pooh Hicks Reveals She Once Dated Queen Latifah & Spills Tea About Karlie Redd Threesome Drama

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta newcomer Pooh Hicks is slowly becoming the queen of dropping bombshells.

While her sex life has been front and center on the show, she just dropped a royally huge bombshell regarding her past dating life.

Pooh appeared on the Domenick Nati Show and addressed rumors that she once dated Queen Latifah. The Atlanta socialite admitted to briefly dating the rapper/actress when she was younger and exploring her sexuality.

“Yes, me and Queen Latifah, we had dated in the past. It was a long time ago. It was when I was in my 20s. Around about when I was like, 24, 25-years-old.”

“It was a good break-up. It just that I wasn’t ready for the lesbian scene at the time because I was young and I didn’t quite understand it,” she added, noting that the relationship only lasted a few months. “I was just kind of like, young and confused and just experimenting. Doing a little of this and a little of that.”

Pooh says she met Latifah through mutual friends back in the day and the two eventually went their separate ways.

“It wasn’t really a ‘break-up’, break-up. She went on to Hollywood and did her thing and we just went our separate ways,” she said.

Pooh also discussed her LHHATL storyline with Karlie Redd.

Pooh maintains that she and her music producer husband Hiriam Hicks had a threesome with Karlie, which Karlie has adamantly denied.

She even dropped some tea, stating the truth was all revealed during the reunion which left Karlie crying for “two hours.” And that she passed a lie detector test, while Karlie failed hers.

Though it’s been a storyline for most of the season, Pooh also tells the radio host that Karlie denying the alleged threesome was never a big deal to her.

She wanted to address other grievances with Karlie, but her foe and the show zoned in on the threesome storyline.

“To me a threesome is not that deep…I didn’t even want to talk about that…I hate that I was portrayed that way. I hate that it seemed like I was mad because I wasn’t invited to her engagement party, because that’s not true.”

“I was coming to her to talk about other things,” Pooh said. “It just seemed like I was coming to her about the threesome, but she kept bringing it up because she wanted to convince her friends and the fans that she didn’t do it.”

Wade’s son, Zion, attended a Miami pride parade in April and was accompanied by his brothers and stepmother Gabrielle Union. Though Wade couldn’t join his family due to a basketball game, he did show support for his son on social media.

“We support each other with pride!” he wrote at the time. He also included the rainbow emoji in a separate message to show support to Zion.

Unfortunately, Wade’s show of pride and support of his son was not well-received by all.

He clapped back in a recent Variety interview and reminded the haters that it’s his job as a father to support his son.

“I don’t really talk about it much because it’s Zion’s story to tell. I think as a family, we should support each other. That’s our job. And my job as a father is to facilitate their lives and to support them and be behind them in whatever they want to do. My role is to support my kids and love my kids.”

Wade said that he was surprised by the backlash given that he was doing what every parent should do.

“I’m very uneasy about accolades that come from supporting my kids or the negativity that comes with it. I’m doing what every parent should do. Once you bring kids into this world, you have to become unselfish. You’re not important anymore. Your kids become the most important thing. Your family becomes the most important thing.”

He also added that he didn’t grow up in an environment where he was often praised for his talents and achievements or encouraged to excel.

“I’m from the inner-city of Chicago and I wasn’t told that,” he said. “I wasn’t told I could be anybody and do anything, and I wasn’t always shown that.”

He continued: “It’s my job to be their role model, to be the voice in my kids’ lives to let them know that you can conquer the world and you have the support of your father and the support of your family every step of the way, so go and be your amazing self and we’re going to sit back and support you all the way.”

Zion turned 12 last month and Wade shared a special message for his son on Instagram.

“I love the kid that you are and I love the young man that you’re becoming,” he wrote. “I am so thankful that I was chosen to be your father and guide you thru this world. Continue to be brave.”

Nipsey Hussle’s Family Says Tanisha is an Unfit Mom Who Doesn’t Deserve Custody of ANY of Her Children, Especially Emani

Nipsey Hussle’s family is pulling out all the stops when it comes to proving that his baby mama Tanisha Foster is unfit to care for the rapper’s daughter with her so that they can obtain primary custody.

TMZ reports that attorneys for Hussle’s family think they can win the custody battle for 10-year-old Emani Asghedom by pointing out that Tanisha is a negligent mom who’s unfit to care for ANY of her children, less knowing Emani.

In addition to Emani, Tanisha has two older, teenage kids who she doesn’t take care of because one is in jail and the other is just out there doing their own thing.

According to TMZ, Tanisha’s 18-year-old daughter is behind bars at a juvenile detention center in Los Angeles for petty theft and has been in and out of the system since she was 12 years old.

Sources close to Tanisha say she hasn’t been a part of her daughter’s life and hasn’t attended any of her court hearings.

And even though the girl is 18, the detention center won’t release her until someone comes forward to claim her because she doesn’t have a GED or a stable environment to come home to, which essentially proves the whole theory that Tanisha is an unfit mom.

Further proving that she isn’t fit to care for children, Tanisha also has a 17-year-old son who, according to TMZ, “bounces around from home to home and doesn’t attend school regularly.”

Oh, and did we forget to mention that Tanisha herself has a bit of a criminal history, and could possibly be sent to jail over a DUI?

So based on how Emani’s brother and sister fared under Tanisha’s care (or lack thereof), it’s no surprise that Nipsey’s family wants her with them.

Hussle’s fam believes their environment is a lot more stable, not just financially, but all the way around. Point. Blank. Periodt.

Tanisha has proven herself to be an unfit mother with not just one, but TWO other children, not to mention her legal issues … so, at this point, you can’t really blame the Asghedoms for wanting primary custody of Emani, can you?

The Supertrailer for “The Real Blac Chyna” is Full of Bad Wigs, Foul Mouths, Stank Attitudes & Fist Fights

If you had the chance to catch the reality TV gem that was Rob & Chyna, then you might have had an inkling that Blac Chyna’s upcoming reality show, The Real Blac Chyna, was going to be a thoroughly entertaining piece of hot-ghetto-mess television.

Let’s set aside the debate about whether the histrionics and fights on the show are “real.” Those of us who have been watching reality TV for years now are well aware that producers and writers shape and set up many of the confrontations that make up those “OH SHIT!” moments on reality TV.

But just like knowing the fact that wrestling is fake doesn’t prevent people from turning into Wrestlemania, neither will being aware that reality TV isn’t all the way real deter us from watching Blac Chyna and her toxic-ass mama, Tokyo Toni, duke it out on TV.

The supertrailer for Chyna’s show was just released and I have to say, the supertrailer makes the show way more intriguing than the short clips that have been floating around on Instagram that past few weeks:

Interestingly, Chyna is supposedly an executive producer on this show and she has the right to say what will or won’t be included as a result of this position.

If this is the stuff she’s OK with being shown to the world, I wonder what the heck else we would see if Chyna wasn’t blocking some stuff from making it into the final cut.

A few notable things we can tell:

1.) This show will deal heavily with the estranged relationship between Tokyo and Chyna as they attempt to mend fences between them.

2.) Rob and Dream Kardashian are nowhere to be seen in this show. This isn’t surprising as recently, news broke that Rob had blocked Chyna legally from including Dream on the show.

3.) Chyna is still struggling with being famous and doesn’t know how to navigate personal or professional relationships as a result.

4.) An exploration of Chyna’s surgical and artificial enhancements. We see several shots of Chyna adjusting her wigs, jiggling her fake ass and getting Botox injections.

The biggest disadvantage Chyna has is the fact that this show is stuck on the Zeus Network, which I think is going to be tough for her as people definitely have streaming fatigue and don’t have the patience or the dollars to sign up for yet another streaming service.

I wish this show would’ve landed on VH1 or WeTV where it belongs. But hey, maybe Chyna’s trash-ass reality show is enticing enough to get Zeus the subscribers they’re so desperately chasing after all.

Donald Trump Refuses to Apologize for Calling for Death Penalty of Central Park 5: “They Admitted Their Guilt”

In a move that surprises pretty much no one, President Donald Trump refused to rescind his condemnation of the Central Park 5 when asked about the issue by April Ryan, a very prominent black member of the White House Press Corps.

“You have people on both sides of that. They admitted their guilt. If you look at Linda Fairstein, and you look at some of the prosecutors, they think that the city should never have settled that case. So we’ll leave it at that,” said Trump.

To be clear, Linda Fairstein recently said in The Wall Street Journal that she agreed with the decision to vacate the rape charges against the accused men based on the Matias Reyes’ confession and DNA evidence. What she continues to allege is that these men committed OTHER crimes and atrocities that they were rightfully charged with and deserved punishment for.

Interestingly, before Trump answered the question, Trump tried to take a dig at April Ryan by asking her why she was bringing up old stuff.

“Why do you bring that question up now? It’s an interesting time to bring it up,” he said.

You see, the Central Park 5 case, which harkens back to 1989, is in the spotlight thanks to Ava Duvernay’s Netflix mini-series, When They See Us.

The riveting series has renewed interest in the injustice of the case and it has put several people involved in pursuing the case against the innocent in the hot seat for the first time.

The fact that Central Park 5 is a trending topic again is only news to you if you’ve been living under a rock for the past few weeks.

The head of sex crimes unit, Linda Fairstein, has been hit the hardest by the renewed social media backlash, but Donald Trump was also a loud and proud condemner of the young men as he took out a full-page ad in The Wall Street Journal in 1989 calling for the death penalty for these black and brown teenage boys.

Trump was never going to apologize because his ego wouldn’t let him and it’s totally off-brand for him to do so. Also, mind you, this is a man who publicly said he’s never had to ask God for forgiveness.

Hillary tried to warn us about Trump’s inability to apologize back in 2016 when Trump refused to apologize for the nasty statements he made about women to Billy Bush, but we wouldn’t listen.

“He never apologizes for anything to anyone,” she said.

If God can’t get an apology out of Donald what the hell makes you think a couple of black and brown men from New York City stand a chance of getting an “I’m sorry” from “grab ’em by the p**sy” Trump?

Nick Cannon Looked Like a Ghetto Mortal Kombat Character at the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards

It’s no secret that Nick Cannon is a man who marches to the beat of his own drum. Especially when it comes to his sense of fashion.

A few years ago, we were scratching our heads as Nick Cannon decided to take accessory cues from Hadji from Jonny Quest and start rocking turbans all the damn time.

Now, we have to contend with the latest fashion disaster Nick Cannon is thrusting on our collective visage: A Louis Vuitton-branded vest and mask that he wore to the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards that make him look like a bootleg version of a Mortal Kombat character.

Seriously, if I stare long enough at the pictures of Nick at the MTV Movie and TV Awards, the Mortal Kombat theme song starts pulsating in my subconscious.

We weren’t the only ones who noticed the similarity between Nick Cannon and Scorpion and Sub-Zero and ’em either. Several Twitter folks said, “GET OVER HERE!” and lobbed a few jokes at Mariah Carey’s baby daddy’s expense.

“Twilight” Author Didn’t Want Any Black Actors in Film Adaptation of Her Book, Only Agreed to Making the Villain Black

Vampires, apparently, can’t be black. That was at least the thinking of Twilight author Stephenie Meyer who fought the idea of having black actors in the film version of her popular vampire-themed series.

In celebrating the 10th anniversary of the release of the first Twilight film, director Catherine Hardwicke was not remiss to express her frustration with the lack of diversity in the film because of Meyer.

She says Meyer was hesitant to have any actors of color play lead characters because she envisioned the vampires as only having “pale glistening skin.”

“(Meyer) had not really written it (the books) that way,” Hardwicke told The Daily Beast while trying to explain Meyer’s lack of diversity in the movie. “So she probably just didn’t see the world that way.”

Hardwicke continued:

“And I was like, ‘Oh my God, I want the vampires, I want them all—Alice, I wanted her to be Japanese!’ I had all these ideas. And she just could not accept the Cullens to be more diverse, because she had really seen them in her mind, she knew who each character was representing in a way, a personal friend or a relative or something. She said, ‘I wrote that they had this pale glistening skin!'”

Hardwicke continued to fight hard to add diversity to the film and Meyer eventually relented to some non-white characters, but only in minor roles.

Unfortunately, the most prominent black character in the film was basically a villain, going back to the old Hollywood practice to equating dark skin to evil.

Hardwicke described the character as “one of the scary antagonistic vampires.” And she revealed that she even had to fight to get the character’s Kenyan-born portrayer hired.

“The only reason that came through was he was described as having olive skin. And I said, ‘There are Black olives out there!’ Then she was open to the students in (Bella’s) peer group being other ethnicities, so we got Christian Serratos and Justin Chon, so we were able to open it up a little bit.”

Sexism was also evident on the set of the film.

Hardwicke believes she was only hired because the studio had little faith in the film doing well because movies aimed towards a female audience had minimal success at the box office.

“Why do you think I got the job?” Hardwicke laughed. “Why do you think they hired a female director? If they thought it was going to be a big blockbuster, they wouldn’t have ever even hired me, because no woman had ever been hired to do something in the blockbuster category.”

And guess what? The next four films in the blockbuster Twilight franchise were all directed by men.

You would think a woman who creates a whole fantasy world full of glistening teenage vampires would also have the imagination to include diversity in said fantasy world. Or maybe eliminating black and brown people was her fantasy.

In any case, kudos to Catherine Hardwicke for fighting for some semblance of diversity in the whitewashed film she was handed.

Mugshot Madness: “Empire” Star Bryshere Gray Arrested in Chicago for Multiple Driving Offenses

Chicago, a once beloved city for the cast of Empire, is probably now the last place any of them want to be. Another star of the Fox show was recently arrested in the city where they film.

Bryshere Gray—who portrays the youngest Lyon heir, Hakeem—was arrested last week for multiple driving offenses, including driving without a license or insurance.

The actor/rapper was pulled over by cops on Thursday (Jun. 13) because the temporary license plate did not match the 2014 Rolls Royce he was driving.

Once pulled over, it was also discovered that Gray did not have insurance for the vehicle nor was he carrying any license.

Gray was booked on three misdemeanors and released on $2,000 bond.

Though the arrest occurred last week, it didn’t gain media attention until yesterday (Jun. 17).

Gray’s arrest comes as controversy remains around (former) co-star Jussie Smollett after being arrested and charged for allegedly staging a racist and homophobic attack against himself and then lying to the Chicago Police Department.

However, the charges against Smollett were ultimately dropped.

Empire is now entering its final season, witch creator Lee Daniels citing Smollett’s scandal as partly to blame for the popular show’s cancellation.

While Gray is expected to appear in the final season despite his arrest, Daniels confirmed that Smollett has been written off of the show.
