Chaka Khan Roasted on Twitter Over Her National Anthem Performance at the 2020 NBA All-Star Game

Let’s just go on ahead and get this out of the way. Chaka Khan is a legend. That fact cannot be disputed. However, in the age of social media, even legends are impervious to the scrutiny that comes from Twitter.

And let’s just say … Chaka Khan’s rendition of the national anthem, which she performed at the 2020 NBA All-Star Game in Chicago Sunday night (Feb. 16), sparked hella Twitter reactions, but not in a good way.

Anyone who takes on the task of singing the national anthem of the United States at a live, internationally televised event already has a huge weight on their shoulders, and while most American singers make the song “their own,” many felt as though Chaka Khan was doing way too much.

In fact, most would say that Chaka Khan’s version of the “Star-Spangled Banner” rivaled Fergie’s back in 2018 … and that’s far from a compliment.

Watch her performance here:

Jennifer Hudson & Common Perform Emotional Kobe Bryant Tributes at 2020 NBA All-Star Game

Chicago natives Jennifer Hudson and Common opened up the 2020 NBA All-Star Game in Chicago on Sunday (Feb. 16) with emotional tributes to basketball legend Kobe Bryant.

Before tipoff, Hudson took to the stage on the court to sing a beautiful rendition of the classic “For All We Know” as images of Kobe and his daughter Gianna (aka “Gigi”) were displayed on a massive screen behind her.

Prior to taking center court, Hudson was introduced by NBA icon and businessman Magic Johnson, who said he wanted everyone to “come together” to honor Bryant and former NBA Commissioner David Stern, who passed away on New Year’s Day.

“We will never see another basketball player quite like Kobe,” Johnson said. “He was passionate about being a great father, husband, filmmaker.”

As the crowd started chanting “Kobe, Kobe, Kobe,” Johnson called for a brief eight seconds of silence to honor the NBA legend.

Following Hudson’s performance, Common took to center court for a performance praising fellow Chicago natives Michael Jordan, Dwyane Wade, Isiah Thomas, and former President Barack Obama, while also honoring Kobe Bryant.

“He used his game to touch the world’s soul, a king named Kobe Bryant who wore purple and gold,” Common said.

Kobe Bryant, 41, and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna were among nine others who were killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California on January 26th.

The other seven people who lost their lives were pilot Ara Zobayan, Orange Coast College head baseball coach John Altobelli, his wife Keri Altobelli, their 14-year-old daughter Alyssa Altobelli, Harbor Day School basketball coach Christina Mauser, Gigi’s basketball teammate, 13-year-old Payton Chester, and Payton’s mother, Sarah Chester.

A public memorial for Kobe, Gigi and the seven other victims will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Monday, February 24th.

Guy Takes Girlfriend of 2+ Years to See “The Photograph” on Valentine’s Day Then Dumps Her Right Afterwards

Valentine’s Day is supposed to be a day about love and showing your significant other how much you appreciate them, but one man used that day as an opportunity to give his girlfriend one last date before ending their relationship.

Antonia Hylton, a correspondent and producer for VICE, took to Twitter Saturday (Feb. 15) to share with her followers what happened to her on Valentine’s Day.

She said her boyfriend of more than 2 years took her out on a date to see The Photograph, a newly released film essentially about #BlackLove starring Issa Rae and LaKeith Stanfield.

And not long after their V-Day date, he completely blindsided her by dumping her, apparently for no reason (or at least not one that she was aware of).

Hylton said she can understand being dumped (hey, it happens to the best of us!) but what she doesn’t understand is why the hell did he take her out on a date first … to see a movie about love … ON VALENTINE’S DAY?!

“I… cannot wrap my head around why he took me out first,” she tweeted. “Is that a thing? Are men ok???”

I mean honestly, wheretheydothatat?!

The replies to her post on Twitter were just as confused, with most offering support and basically telling her: He was trash sis, you ain’t need that type of energy in your life anyway.

“As an old lady, let me promise you—it is always a blessing,” said world-famous broadcast journalist Soledad O’Brien. “Doesn’t feel like it, I’m sure, but life is hard and you need people around you who are in it for the long haul. Trust me on this.”

“I’m so sorry. That’s TRASH trash,” tweeted another supporter, writer/activist Brittany Cunningham. “He wasn’t smart enough for you to be with if he was dumb enough to break up with you!”

Another woman offered a heartbreaking breakup story of her own: “My ex of 8 years planned and executed 2 surprise birthday parties for me in the same weekend for my 30th, then left me and our 1 and 2 year old daughters for another woman he fell in love with [during] the time me and the girls went away for a week.”

And one woman offered to go all Jazmine Sullivan on the man’s car: “You can slash the tires. I can key the car.” Brittany Cunningham, once again, replied: “I got the bat to the headlights.”

Women weren’t the only ones offering their support either.

Shermichael Singleton, who according to his Twitter bio is a writer and political consulted said: “First, I’m sorry for your break up. Secondly, no that is not how you end things with someone you love and care about. Those are the actions of a boy, not a man.”

Another guy tweeted: “Wait, he took you out on Valentine’s Day to break up with you? Who raised him???”

Disney’s Queen of Katwe Star Nikita Pearl Waligwa Dies at 15 of Brain Tumor

Nikita Pearl Waligwa, a young actress who starred in Disney’s Queen of Katwe—a film about a chess prodigy from a Ugandan slum—has died at the age of 15 from a brain tumor.

According to Ugandan media reports (via UK’s Mirror), Nikita passed away on Saturday (Feb. 15) at TMR International Hospital in Naalya, Kampala.

Nikita played the role of Gloria in Queen of Katwe, a 2016 Disney film based on the true story of Phiona Mutesi, who started playing chess at the young age of 9 despite not being in school and went on to compete in international chess tournaments.

The film starred Lupita Nyong’o as her mother and David Oyelowo as her chess teacher.

Nikita was first diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2016 and Queen of Katwe director Mira Nair reportedly rallied to help fund her treatment in India after Ugandan doctors said they didn’t have the proper equipment to treat her.

She was given the all-clear in 2017, but was found to have another tumor in 2019, which devastated her family.

A family member said Nikita had been living in a lot of pain before she passed away. “The brain was swollen and it is exerting a lot of pressure,” the relative told local media.

Reports suggest the teen, a student of Gayaza High School, was awaiting another surgery to remove the tumor before she passed away.

Three People Shot at Kandi Burruss’ Old Lady Gang Restaurant in Atlanta on Valentine’s Day

Police are investigating a shooting that injured three people at Kandi Burruss’ Old Lady Gang restaurant in East Point, Georgia.

East Point police said that a male suspect walked into Old Lady Gang Restaurant at 3650 Marketplace Boulevard on Friday evening (Feb. 14) and opened fire on a man inside the eatery.

Police said as the gunman was shooting, he also hit two other people, who they believe were unintended targets.

The shooting not only happened on a Friday, which is often one of the busiest days of the week for restaurants, but also on Valentine’s Day.

One woman who told Channel 2 Action News that her brother works at the restaurant described a chaotic scene inside the building after the shots were fired.

“While they were back there cooking and stuff, they just heard gunshots,” Ricka Franklin said. “All of a sudden, the customers ran to the back where they were.”

Two other witnesses told 11 Alive they were sitting outside Juicy Crab, another nearby restaurant, when the shooting happened.

“We just trying to chill, trying to enjoy dinner like usual,” one of the witnesses, who didn’t want to be named, said. “The line was long so we were just chilling outside and it happened out of nowhere,” she added.

“I was real quiet at first then I heard the scream and I saw the guy run out,” her friend said, also speaking anonymously. She said she heard two “pops” before she took off running.

“I was just worried about my safety,” she said. “I didn’t know who he was going for, what was on his mind. I was worried about my safety. I was trying to get out of there.”

The woman expressed concerned about the gunman’s mental state and wondered what would cause him to commit such a violent act in a public setting.

“I just wondered what was going through his head, why would he want to pop off like that,” she said.

Old Lady Gang (also known as “OLG”) is owned by Kandi Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker. The East Point location where the shooting happened opened in 2018 following the success of the original location in Castleberry Hill.

Police haven’t released any further details about the shooting, but confirmed that the three victims, whose names haven’t been released, all suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police also said they are still searching for the suspect.

“We are actively looking for a suspect but do not have any further information at this time,” East Point police Captain Allyn Glover told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Charles Barkley Says Kobe Bryant’s NBA Career & Rape Case Are Both Part of His Legacy: “He Had a Flaw That We All Know About”

Following the tragic death of Kobe Bryant that shocked the sports world and the world at large, most people honored his storied legacy in the way they best saw fit.

Murals of the legendary NBA athlete quickly went up across the country, current players made on-the-court gestures to remember the legend, and Bryant became the only player in NBA history to have two numbers retired.

One thing that largely went unmentioned, however, was the alleged 2003 raping of a then 19-year-old woman.

The criminal charges were dropped before ever going to court, but today (Feb. 14), one prominent voice has spoken out saying that the public can’t choose to just brush this questionable history aside.

NBA Hall of Famer and current Inside the NBA host, Charles Barkley, told TODAY: “Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest basketball players ever, and he had a flaw that we all know about. You have to tell the picture in totality.”

The message was met with mixed reactions on social media, with some lambasting the sports broadcaster over bringing up a lawsuit that was eventually dropped and others commending him for his words.

Barkley isn’t the first person to bring up this issue as the public continues to mourn the untimely death of Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Giana.

Shortly following the incident, CBS star Gayle King sparked a feud with rapper Snoop Dogg after she discussed the “complicated” legacy in an interview with former WNBA star Lisa Leslie.

Following the interview, Snoop Dogg went after King on an Instagram post, saying: “Why you all attacking us, we your people. You ain’t coming after f**king Harvey Weinstein asking him dumb-ass questions. I get sick of you all.”

However, today, Barkley mirrored King’s views on the late Kobe Bryant.

He admits that he and Bryant were not close, but the news of his passing still hit home and that he “started crying when I got the news. I felt like I had lost a member of my family.”

Despite that, Barkley stands strong on his stance that Bryant needs to be held accountable for the rape allegations that resulted in a payment following a civil lawsuit.

“We’re not trying to make Kobe out to be no hero,” Barkley said. “We’re celebrating his basketball excellence. We understand what happened in Colorado. That’s fair. But two things can be true.”

Woman Meets Man on Dating App and is Forced to Be His Getaway Driver When He Robs Bank on Their First Date

Even with all the online dating apps (or perhaps, because of the many online dating apps) finding true love in the age of the internet can be difficult.

Just take it from a 40-year-old Massachusetts woman, Shelby Sampson, who thought she’d swiped right on her soul mate only to be conned into robbing a bank on the short-lived couple’s first date.

On December 5th, 2016, Sampson agreed to meet up with 33-year-old Christopher Castillo for their first date, and right away, she should’ve known that she would’ve been better off ghosting the man.

To start, Castillo asked the woman to pick him up from his parent’s house in Rhode Island. Off to a great start, right?

The pair then drove a half-hour to North Attleborough, Mass., in which time Castillo proceeded to drink wine in the passenger’s seat, because that’s great first-date etiquette.

At one point, the man told her to pull into the Bristol County Savings Bank where he quickly made his way inside, according to WHDH.

Now, maybe she was just trying to be a good person and not ditch a man a half-hour away from his parent’s house, but at this point, it probably would’ve been best if the woman just drove off.

She didn’t, though. Instead, she waited patiently in the car for a man she had just met for the first time that, who moments earlier, was downing wine in her car. That same man proceeded to run out of the bank in a panic and demanded that she drive away. Not now, but RIGHT NOW.

It wasn’t long before the sight of blue lights filled her rear window as police officers caught up to the modern-day Bonnie & Clyde.

Unbeknownst to the woman, after Castillo entered the bank, he brandished a pistol and demanded $1,000 from the teller because he was “really hurting” and needed money, CNN reported.

Both were arrested for the incident, with the woman being charged as being an accessory after the fact and held on a $250,000 bail, per The Sun Chronicle. Those charges were later dropped when she was able to convince prosecutors she was unaware of the bank robbery plan.

Castillo, however, wasn’t so lucky. After three years, he was finally sentenced to five years of incarceration for multiple charges that included armed robbery and assault and battery on a police officer.

All of a sudden, your worst first date story probably doesn’t seem too bad, does it?

Kodak Black Professes His Love for Zendaya From Jail With Valentine’s Day Poem

With Valentine’s Day season in full swing, people all across the country are searching for love, but few are doing it quite as publicly as rapper Kodak Black, who apparently has it bad for actress/singer Zendaya.

Rather than sliding into Zendaya’s DMs, Kodak decided to let everyone in the world know his intentions with a public Instagram post featuring a poem he wrote specifically for his Hollywood crush.

“Zoolin in a ice box frozen in time,” Kodak wrote. “But mentally you’re my Valentine. Hope I made you smile with this poem. I’m thinking bout you all the way home.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/B8jCAtvF3KI/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Kodak ended his lyrical gift with, “P.S. don’t make me beat Spider-Man up,” perhaps a reference to Zendaya’s Spider-Man franchise co-star, Tom Holland.

Zendaya and Tom aren’t dating, though, as she’s recently been spotted with fellow HBO show Euphoria co-star Jacob Elordi.

You know what they say when it comes to love: you have to shoot your shot and Kodak certainly took his with this poem. Zendaya has yet to respond publicly to this Valentine’s Day hail mary.

Part of the reason might be because Kodak Black is currently serving time behind bars as part of his nearly 4-year sentence stemming from federal weapons charges. However, this hasn’t stopped the Grammy-nominated rapper from living his life, and it’s not just his love life.

In addition to continuing his search for true love, Kodak also dropped his latest track, “Because of You,” on Valentine’s Day as well.

The song, which features Kodak discussing how he wants to be a better man for an unnamed woman (Zendaya, maybe?), and it already has over 250,000 views on YouTube.

Whether or not his social media longshot pays off and scores Kodak a new Valentine remains to be seen, but I think it’s safe to say that Elordi isn’t too thrilled to have him moving in on his girlfriend.

“Divorce Court” Couple Goes Viral After Revealing Fight Over Cardi B & Nicki Minaj Beef Caused Their Separation

The lines are drawn so deep between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B stans that the beef is even causing marriages to break up.

A couple is going viral this week after their appearance on Divorce Court and their unexpected reason for divorcing after two years of marriage.

When Judge Lynn Toler asked D’Andrew and Don’te Leaphart what caused their separation, D’Andrew promptly responded: “The Nicki Minaj and Cardi B beef. I’m serious about that.”

Toler thought they had been joking, but D’Andrew explained that the couple’s last big fight was over which female rapper is to blame for their beef.

Don’te is Team Cardi while D’Andrew is a Barb all day. Things apparently got heated between the two and the couple called it quits. “It was silly,” Don’te said.

Don’te went on to admit there were “underlying issues” within the relationship, calling his husband “ungrateful” and “disrespectful.

The Nicki/Cardi fight “was one of the moments [D’Andrew] was disrespectful,” Don’te stated.

Another songstress was also involved in their troubled relationship. Don’te testified that after D’Andrew broke his car windows, he began singing Jazmine Sullivan’s song, “Bust Your Windows.”

And in case you’re wondering, Team Cardi ultimately won this round.

Judge Toler ruled in Don’te’s favor who was suing D’Andrew for his half of $1,250 to cover damage expenses of their shared rental home.

Body of Missing 6-Year-Old South Carolina Girl Faye Swetlik Found After 3-Day Search

Three days after being reported as missing, the body of 6-year-old Faye Marie Swetlik was found on Thursday afternoon (Feb. 13) in the same Cayce, South Carolina neighborhood she disappeared from.

“It is with extremely heavy hearts we’re announcing we found a body the coroner identified as Faye Marie Swetlik,” Bryon Snellgrove, Cayce Department of Public Safety Director, told reporters at a news conference.

On Monday afternoon, Swetlik got off a school bus and was seen playing in her parents’ front yard when they noticed they hadn’t seen her since 3:45 p.m. They called the police at 5 p.m. and a search was launched throughout the area to find the missing child.

Authorities say that the body of the first-grader was found in the same Churchill Heights neighborhood that she vanished from, and that there was also a “deceased male” nearby.

Although they are saying that the community is not in danger, they are ruling her death a homicide and have launched an investigation into the shocking death.

Snellgrove did not field any questions during the somber press conference, and he wouldn’t verify if authorities believed that the two deaths are connected according to WDPE

As news of the horrifying discovery spread, reactions poured in online from across the country:

While no arrests have been made, police are still actively searching through the wooded Churchill Heights area in search of answers.

Shocking Video Shows College Linebacker Body-Slamming Cop During Arrest

On Monday, February 10th, 2020, 19-year-old Michael Harris was arrested on a felony charge of assault after he body-slammed a police officer responding to a call at a Grove City, Ohio business.

The woman who made the call stated that Harris was being “aggressive” and “did not seem to be ‘all there'” according to a TMZ Sports report.

Shocking video footage captured the skirmish between the 6-foot-3, 245-pound college football linebacker and the responding male and female police officers. In the footage, the officers are seen questioning Harris who stands outside of his vehicle.

At one point, Harris approaches the male officer who proceeds to hold him back with one hand.

The former Auburn University athlete immediately puts his hands in the air but remains in close proximity to the officer who pushes Harris back to create space between the two. And things escalate quickly from there.

The two are seen shouting in each other’s faces as the female officer tries to intervene, but when Harris attempts to get back into his car, the yelling turns physical as the officers try to detain him.

It all came to an end when Harris picked up the male officer high into the air and slammed him back to the ground.

The two continued to struggle with Harris on top until a third responding officer got into the mix and helped the other two finally get Harris off the ground and into handcuffs.

No one was  injured in the incident, but Harris was taken to a hospital for evaluation where cops claim he remained aggressive until being sedated by medical personnel and taken to jail.

Harris, who recently transferred to East Kentucky University from Auburn, was a former four-star recruit for the 2018 class and was rated as the nation’s 15th-best inside linebacker.

After the incident, cops searched Harris’ vehicle and found pills along with a digital scale, but Harris claimed that he was not taking medications or illicit drugs, and he received no drug charges.

In addition to the felony assault charge, court records show that Harris also received three misdemeanors for disorderly conduct while intoxicated, resisting arrest, and obstructing official business, per CBS-affiliate WBNS.

Jussie Smollett Indicted on 6 NEW Charges for Lying to Police Over Alleged Staged Attack, Faces Up to 3 Years in Jail

Over one year after he claimed he was attacked and the victim of a hate crime, Jussie Smollett is now facing new charges for allegedly staging the incident.

The former Empire actor was just indicted on six charges for disorderly conduct and filing four separate false police reports, the office of special prosecutor Dan Webb announced on Tuesday (Feb. 11).

A grand jury returned the indictment after the 16 felony counts Smollett was initially charged with were all dismissed in March 2019, a move that dismayed Chicago police and officials.

Webb was assigned to the case to investigate why the charges were dismissed.

In a statement provided by Webb’s office, the decision to charge Smollett again was determined by several factors, including the extensive nature of the allegedly false police reports and the resources spent by the police department.

The team “obtained sufficient factual evidence to determine that it disagrees” with the Cook County State Attorney’s Office decision to drop the 16 counts against Smollett in exchange for the actor forfeiting his bond and 15 hours of community service.

Smollett’s arraignment is scheduled for Monday, February 24th.

He could face up to three years in prison if convicted as charged. The actor maintains his innocence and plans to plead not guilty.

A source close to Smollett tells TMZ the new charges are questionable.

“The officers who re-investigated the case are the same ones who originally investigated it. These officers are currently being sued by Smollett. They have also spent taxpayer money on having these officers go to Los Angeles and harass members of Smollett’s team and friends.”

The new charges obviously stem from the January 2019 incident in Chicago in which Smollett claims he was attacked by two white men who yelled racists and homophobic slurs. He was even left with a noose around his neck.

During their investigation, police began to believe Smollett actually staged the attack by paying two black Nigerian brothers $3,500 to attack him in hopes of promoting his career.

Smollett was charged with 16 felony counts, which were dismissed just weeks later. However, the city of Chicago is currently suing the actor for over $130,000, the cost of resources they used to investigate the hoax.

Smollett was fired from Empire due to fallout over the situation.

Dwyane Wade Says His 12-Year-Old Zaya is Transgender, Offers Unconditional Support: “I Looked At Her & Said You Are a Leader”

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union continue to be shining examples of what unconditional love, supportive parenting, and allyship looks like.

During an appearance on Ellen today (Feb. 11) to promote his upcoming ESPN documentary, Wade proudly shared that his 12-year child (Union’s stepchild) is transgender and is fully embracing her authentic self as Zaya.

“I don’t know if everybody knows, originally named Zion. Zion, born as a boy, came home and said, ‘Hey, so I want to talk to you guys. I think going forward I am ready to live my truth. I want to be referenced as ‘she’ and ‘her.’ I would love for you guys to call me Zaya.'”

Wade looked as his preteen daughter in awe of her bravery. “I looked at her and said, ‘You are a leader. You are a leader and this is our opportunity to allow you to be a voice.'”

Protecting Zaya from unnecessary public scrutiny because she’s 12, Wade and Union have not hesitated to use their platforms to support the LGBTQ community and advocate for equality.

“Me and my wife, my wife Gabrielle Union … we are proud parents of a child in the LGBTQ+ community and we’re proud allies as well,” he said.

They are also dedicated to providing Zaya the resources and information she needs.

“When our child comes home with a question, when our child comes home with an issue, when our child comes home with anything, it’s our job as parents to listen to that, to give them the best information that we can, the best feedback that we can. And that doesn’t change because sexuality [and gender] is now involved in it.”

“Now it’s our job to one, go out and get information, to reach out to every relationship that we have,” Wade said, adding that Union had even reached out to the cast of Pose.

“We’re just trying to figure out as much information as we can to make sure that we give our child the best opportunity to be her best self.”

Wade and Union have publicly supported Zaya’s LGBTQ journey since last year, both clapping back at social media trolls who criticized their parenting or attacked the 12-year-old.

Union, Zaya and several family and friends attended a pride festival in Miami last April. Though Wade couldn’t attend due to an NBA game, he did share his support on social media.

“I’m doing what every parent should do,” he told Variety when asked about the backlash he has received for unconditionally supporting his LGBTQ child.

The couple also works very closely with GLSEN, an organization that fights discrimination, harassment and bullying against LGBTQ+ individuals and aims to make schools a more accepting place for LGBTQ kids.

Seeing the unwavering love and support Wade and Union have shown Zaya is truly heartwarming and touching, but unfortunately, not every LGBTQ child receives this kind of love at home. And in some cases, the situation is even more dire for trans kids and black LGBTQ children.

Let’s hope the example Wade and Union have set and Zaya’s story will have a positive impact on other families throughout the country and beyond.

The ESPN documentary D Wade: Life Unexpected, which also shows Zaya sharing her story in her own words, airs on Sunday, February 23rd.

NeNe Leakes Frustrated with Bravo After Being Cut from 4th “Real Housewives of Atlanta” Episode This Season (Report)

NeNe Leakes was noticeably missing from the most recent episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta … again. And she’s reportedly furious about it.

Radar Online reports that the lone RHOA original cast member has been docked $240,000 during the show’s 12th season.

“NeNe says she feels like she is being targeted by the show producers and she was intentionally cut out of two episodes, losing $120,000 per episode,” a source tells the online outlet.

It’s unclear exactly why, but NeNe has not appeared at all, whatsoever in four episodes thus far. The source reveals that she was paid for the first two missed episodes, but not the latter two.

Nene has expressed her frustration over the limited screen time via Twitter and her future with Bravo hangs in the balance.

“NeNe was not invited to Bravocon because they wanted Kenya there and they didn’t want a fight,” the source shared of another grievance the reality star has with the network.

“She really feels like they are doing her dirty and she is very frustrated.”

NeNe reportedly signed a 3-year deal with Bravo last year worth nearly $3 million.

Producers don’t want her to leave because she’s key to RHOA ratings. But if she’s feeling pushed aside by the network, she may walk away from the whole thing.

She recently hired celebrity attorney Lisa Bloom. However, she denies Bloom will represent her in any matters concerning Bravo.

When filming first began last year, it was reported that Bravo had suspended NeNe for several episodes due to an altercation with production the prior season.

Her reps denied the report, claiming NeNe had not filmed with the rest of the cast due to prolonged contract negotiations.

Vanessa Bryant Expresses Anger Over Devastating Double Loss of Husband & Daughter: “I’m So Mad!”

In a vulnerable moment, Vanessa Bryant offered a glimpse of her grief as she continues to struggle with the devastating loss of her husband and young daughter.

The mother in mourning shared in an Instagram post on Monday (Feb. 10) that she is experiencing the anger stage of grief and can’t process the double loss of 13-year-old Gianna and husband Kobe Bryant.

“I’m so mad. She had so much life to live,” Vanessa wrote of Gianna. “Mad I’m not with Kobe and Gigi,” continued.

“I’ve been reluctant to put my feelings into words. My brain refuses to accept that both Kobe and Gigi are gone. I can’t process both at the same time. It’s like I’m trying to process Kobe being gone but my body refuses to accept my Gigi will never come back to me.

“It feels wrong. Why should I be able to wake up another day when my baby girl isn’t being able to have that opportunity?!”

The post included video footage of Gianna, her basketball team, and their coach, Kobe.

Vanessa says that she’s trying to be strong for her three daughters, the youngest being only 7 months old. “Thankful I’m here with Natalia, Bianka and Capri,” she added.

Vanessa writes that she knows anger is a normal stage of grief and wanted to share her feelings for those who may also be struggling with the loss of a loved one.

“Praying for all of the victims of this horrible tragedy. Please continue to pray for all,” she wrote.

A memorial service for Kobe and Gianna will be held at the Staples Center on February 24th. The service will also honor the seven other victims who died in the fatal helicopter crash.

Oprah Gets Emotional Over Best Friend Gayle King’s Kobe Bryant Interview Controversy, Says King is Receiving Death Threats

Media mogul Oprah is no stranger to scrutiny and controversy, but it’s admittedly hard to see her best friend be attacked and dragged on social media.

Oprah got emotional today (Feb. 7) during an appearance on Today with Hoda & Jenna while discussing the criticism Gayle King has received for asking several questions about Kobe Bryant’s 2003 rape case in an interview with Bryant’s friend WNBA star Lisa Leslie.

Oprah even revealed that King has received death threats and now has to be escorted by security because of the situation.

“She is not doing well,” Oprah said, tearing up after being asked how King was doing.

“She has now death threats and has to now travel with security and she’s feeling very much attacked,” she continued. “Obviously all things pass, she will be okay, but she hasn’t slept in two days.”

Oprah says that she understands how the clip at the center of the controversy can seem problematic out of context and agrees that people have the right to express their opinions and frustration.

But “the misogynist vitriol and the attacking to the point where it is dangerous to be in the streets alone” is when the criticism crosses a line.

She says the best thing she can do right now is be there for her friend, sharing that they have talked multiple times over the past few days.

“I think you stand in the gap, you try to be there for your friends. But this is very hard, because when you have social media and the force of social media, and particularly people who didn’t see either interview, making attacks.”

King addressed the viral clip in a personal video she posted yesterday (Feb. 6).

She explained the clip was part of a longer, wide-ranging interview with Leslie about Bryant’s legacy. She slammed CBS for posting the clip out of context without her knowledge.

“If I had only seen the clip that you saw, I’d be extremely angry with me too. I am mortified. I am embarrassed and I am very angry,” King said.

CBS later shared a statement supporting King.

“Gayle conducted a thoughtful, wide-ranging interview with Lisa Leslie about the legacy of Kobe Bryant,” the statement read. “An excerpt was posted that did not reflect the nature and tone of the full interview. We are addressing the internal process that led to this and changes have already been made.”

Heidi Klum Talks About Backlash She Received Defending AGT Amid Gabrielle Union Drama: “I Was Called a White Woman”

Terry Crews is not the only member of the America’s Got Talent crew facing backlash for not standing in solidarity with Gabrielle Union.

Heidi Klum says she also received criticism after defending AGT amid Union’s claims of racism, sexism, and an overall toxic working environment on the set of the reality competition show.

“A lot of people got mad at me,” she told Page Six at an amfAR gala on Wednesday (Feb. 5).

“I was called, for example, ‘a white woman.’”

“I can only speak to what I saw—it has nothing to do with what color I am. I am a human so I just looked at what I saw,” she continued.

Though the white German model felt being called so was dismissive, she does believe that everyone should speak on injustices when they experience or witness it.

“I think it is important for everyone to speak their truth. I think that when there is a story, it should be told. I had a different story,” Klum said.

The backlash first began in January when Klum—who served as a judge on AGT for several seasons—was asked about Union’s claims. “I’ve only had an amazing experience,” she said at the time.

“I can’t speak for her. I didn’t experience the same thing. To me, everyone treats you with the utmost respect. I’ve never seen anything that was weird or hurtful,” she continued.

As the criticisms began to accumulate, Klum clarified her comments in a statement to People magazine.

“I can only speak of my own truth, and by no means is that meant to negate or question Gabrielle’s truth,” Klum wrote in part.

“I am aware that my experience may not be the same as Gabrielle’s. What I can tell you is that I am a fierce advocate for all people, no matter their race, age, religion, gender or sexuality. Everyone should be treated equally and with utmost respect.

“Personally, I have experienced very hurtful things while being married to a man of color and having three beautiful children with him. While everyone’s challenges are different, I want nothing more than for a just world and for people to be kinder to one another.”

Klum was married to black British singer Seal for nine years. They have three biracial children together.

Also in January, AGT host Terry Crews was dragged online for dismissing Union’s racism concerns, which she responded to. He later apologized for his comments.

Bobbi Kristina’s Ex Nick Gordon Died of Heroin Overdose, Autopsy Confirms

The cause of death of Bobbi Kristina Brown’s former boyfriend, Nick Gordon, has been revealed. He died of a heroin overdose.

A Florida medical examiner’s office officially ruled the 30-year-old’s death as heroin toxicity after conducting an autopsy.

The autopsy also found several other substances in his system including morphine, caffeine, and Narcan—a drug used to reverse opioid overdoses.

Gordon died on New Year’s Day after being found unresponsive and not breathing.

The 911 caller—who identified himself as Gordon’s brother—also stated he had “black stuff” coming out of his mouth, a foam discharge common with opioid overdoses.

He was transported to a hospital, but was pronounced dead 7 hours later.

“This is a tragic end to Nick’s troubled life,” Gordon’s lawyer Randy Kessler said following his client’s death.

Joe Habachy, another one of Gordon’s lawyers, said he was trying very hard to stay sober.

“He worked hard to hold his head up and stay sober and … he genuinely wanted a happy healthy life with his family more than anything else,” Habachy said.

“My heart goes out to the family and friends Nick leaves behind and to any other families dealing with the losses and heartache caused by drugs.”

Gordon’s death comes nearly five years since Bobbi Kristina—the daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown—also died of an overdose.

He was found legally responsible for her death in a civil case and ordered to pay $36 million to her estate.

Houston took in Gordon when he was just 12 years old. He was raised alongside Bobbi Kristina. The two did become romantically involved until after Houston’s 2012 death.

Gayle King Responds After Being Dragged for Kobe Bryant Rape Case Questions: “I’d Be Extremely Angry With Me Too”

Gayle King is furious and facing controversy head-on after CBS released a salacious clip without her knowledge from an interview with WNBA superstar Lisa Leslie about Kobe Bryant’s legacy.

The clip went viral and King was promptly dragged on social media on Wednesday (Feb. 5) for bringing up Bryant’s dismissed 2004 rape trial. Leslie was praised for how she handled the line of questioning.

Instead of reading a scripted on-air statement, King posted a 4-minute Instagram video early Thursday morning to address the matter, explaining that she’s incensed the clip was released out of context and understands the anger people feel after watching it.

“If I had only seen the clip that you saw, I’d be extremely angry with me too. I am mortified. I am embarrassed and I am very angry.

“Unbeknownst to me, my network put up a clip from a very wide-ranging interview—totally taken out of context—and when you see it that way, it’s very jarring. It’s jarring to me. I didn’t even know anything about it.”

King noted that her interview with Leslie was wide-ranging and covered many aspects of Bryant including his career, passions, sense of humor, the way he mentored others, and the next chapter of his life since retiring from the NBA.

The CBS This Morning anchor also felt mentioning Bryant’s rape case was necessary because it has also been discussed in media in the days since his untimely death.

“I wanted to get Lisa’s take on it as a friend who knew him well, what she thought, where that should stand [in relation to Bryant’s legacy],” King explained. “I asked follow-up questions because I wanted to make sure her position and perspective were very clear.”

“It was very powerful when she looked me in the eye, as a member of the media, to say, ‘It’s time for the media to leave it alone and to back off,” King added.

“I thought that was powerful and I insisted that that part be in the interview because I thought it put a nice button on that part of the conversation.”

King says she has spoken with Leslie since the clip went viral and the WNBA legend was “OK” with how the overall interview was conducted.

But King is still very upset with how CBS released the controversial clip without her permission.

“[It] is very upsetting to me and that’s something I’m going to have to deal with with them. There will be a very intense discussion about that,” King sternly said.

The news anchor closed her video from a personal perspective. She, too, is still mourning Bryant’s tragic loss and, in no way, meant to disrespect or disparage him during the interview.

“I have been with Kobe Bryant on many social occasions. He was very kind and very warm to me and I felt we had a friendly relationship. I too am mourning his loss just like everybody else. I still am shocked by it. It’s tragic and untimely and the last thing I would want to do is disparage him at this particular time.”

“I don’t want to sit up on a set and read a prepared remark,” she continued. “I wanted you to hear exactly where I’m coming from and how I’m feeling, and to let everybody know that no disrespect intended.”

Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven other passengers were killed in a helicopter crash on January 26.

Future’s 17-Year-Old Son Reportedly Arrested for Gang Activity, Could Face Up to 20 Years in Prison

Future is often in the blogs due to the constant legal battles with his alleged baby mamas. Unfortunately, this time it’s one of his children that’s gotten the attention of law enforcement.

The rapper’s oldest child, Jakobi Wilburn, 17, was arrested on several charges last month due to gang activity.

According to Georgia newspaper The Covington News, Wilburn was arrested on January 19th and charged with criminal use of an article with altered ID mark-possession of a firearm and giving a false name, address or birthdate to a law enforcement officer.

The altered ID firearm charge is because Wilburn was allegedly in possession of a gun with the serial numbers scratched off.

According to court documents obtained by Bossip, Wilburn was also charged with criminal gang activity and criminal trespass.

His arrest was part of a gang bust with several other co-defendants. No court date was listed in the documents

The 17-year-old could be charged as an adult under Georgia state law and could face between five to 20 years in prison from the gang activity charge alone, if convicted.

Despite his famous and wealthy father, Wilburn was listed as an “indigent” and assigned a public defender. The court made this determination based off of the teen’s income, not his father’s.

It’s unclear if Jakobi has had any run-ins with the law prior to this arrest.

The only other time his name appears in court documents was when is mother sued Future for more child support back in 2012.

Jakobi is Future’s first child. The 17-year-old’s mother is Jessica Smith.
