Virginia Pastor Who Dissed Quarantine & Held Packed Church Services Dies of Coronavirus

The pastor of a large church in Virginia has died of COVID-19 just weeks after he proudly showed off how packed his services were and vowed to keep preaching “unless I’m in jail or the hospital,” despite self-isolation recommendations from government officials amid the global pandemic.

During his last-known in-person service on Sunday, March 22nd, Bishop Gerald O. Glenn asked his congregation at New Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Richmond to stand up to show off how many people were in attendance, despite warnings from federal officials to not host gatherings of more than 10 people.

“I firmly believe that God is larger than this dreaded virus. You can quote me on that,” he said before repeating the statement again to applause, saying that “people are healed” in his church.

Glenn happily announced he was being “controversial” by violating safety protocols with “way more than 10 people” at the church and vowed to keep the doors of his church wide open “unless I’m in jail or the hospital,” calling himself “essential” and a “preacher” who talks to God on the regular.

On Easter Sunday morning (Apr. 12), church officials made an announcement “with an exceedingly and sorrowful and heavy heart” that the pastor had died on Saturday, just one week after testing positive for the novel coronavirus that has so far killed more than 20,000 Americans and over 120,000 people worldwide.

Bishop Glenn’s wife, Marcia Glenn, is also sick with the virus, according to a statement posted from the church Monday morning.

Their daughter, Mar-Gerie Crawley, said her father didn’t take his symptoms seriously at first because he suffers from a condition that can lead to fever and infections. But she’s now urging everyone to stay home

“It becomes very real to you,” she told WTVR. “I just beg people to understand the severity and the seriousness of this, because people are saying it’s not just about us, it’s about everyone around us.”

Diddy Claims Lizzo’s Body Was NOT the Reason He Stopped Her from Twerking During Instagram Coronavirus Fundraiser

As celebs continue to self-quarantine, Diddy hosted a dance-a-thon fundraiser via Instagram Live and invited many of his famous friends to join.

But during his Easter Sunday (Apr. 12) philanthropic effort, the mogul faced heavy backlash on social media after he abruptly stopped Lizzo from twerking, while having no issues when reality star Draya Michele later twerked during the IG session.

Lizzo was happily dancing to Moneybagg Yo’s “1 2 3” until Diddy interrupted her groove.

“Stop the music. It’s Easter Sunday—let’s play something a little bit family friendly.”

Lizzo stopped twerking and apologized, while laughing off the awkward moment. She then suggested Diddy play her own song, Juice.

But when Draya twerked to Juvenile’s “Back Dat Azz Up,” Diddy and his sons encouraged her and cheered her on.

Many immediately called out Diddy for the double standard and accusing him of being fatphobic and body shaming Lizzo.

Diddy eventually addressed the issue, claiming he stopped Lizzo’s twerk because of the song being played at the time, not because of the singer’s body or size.

“There’s one thing that I want to make clear. My queen, my sister Lizzo. She’s one of the best twerkers in the world, ok, so let’s keep that clear.

“It wasn’t about twerking. You’re allowed to twerk on Easter. It was a lot of cursing in the record and I don’t need child services knocking on my door right now, you understand? Lizzo, we love you.

“Everybody, stop looking for the negative. Look at the positive, man. Let’s go to the love.”

Despite his explanation, the conversation is still ongoing on Twitter. Lizzo is a top 10 trending topic, with many coming to her defense.

To date, Diddy’s Team Love COVID-19 Response Fund collaboration with the non-profit, Direct Relief, has raised over $3.7 million.

The show features and all-black female panel lead by media veteran Rashan Ali and includes singer Syleena Johnson, Married to Medicine star Quad Webb, and Trina Braxton.

Media company Tegna produces Sister Circle and released a statement announcing the decision to end the show.

“While there are many loyal fans of the show, the show has not grown its audience enough to continue,” Tegna explained.

Woman With Coronavirus Gives Birth to Healthy Baby Boy While Hooked Up to Ventilator

A 26-year-old mom of four in Israel suffering from the COVID-19 coronavirus reportedly gave birth to a healthy baby boy via emergency C-section while hooked up to a ventilator to help her breathe.

Hospital officials told the New York Post the woman was suffering from nausea and vomiting when she walked into the maternity ward of Sheba Medical Center at Tel HaShomer in late March.

She had no idea she was experiencing symptoms of the novel coronavirus, but soon after, she tested positive and she started having contractions.

“The delivery began in a special coronavirus-dedicated delivery room, but when the mother went into respiratory distress, she was transferred quickly into a specially prepared operating room,” hospital spokeswoman Jodie Singer told the Post in an e-mail.

“While the mother was intubated and hooked up to a lifesaving ventilator, doctors performed a successful emergency C-section and delivered a healthy baby boy,” Singer said, adding that the baby weighed a little under six pounds.

Doctors tested the newborn for coronavirus, and fortunately, the results came back negative, however, his mom hasn’t been able to hold him because she’s still fighting the disease in the hospital’s coronavirus critical care unit.

“The reunion is expected to take place within the next week, when the mother is discharged,” Singer said. “Since this delivery, the coronavirus delivery room has been put to use several more times. Each baby has been born healthy and has tested negative for the virus.”

Professor Eldad Katorza, who is the senior physician at Sheba’s Gynecology and Maternity Center said in a statement: “Thankfully, at Sheba we are always thinking two steps ahead and we had both the delivery room and operating room fully prepared to handle coronavirus patients. We were able to move quickly to perform an emergency Caesarean section and deliver a healthy and happy baby boy.”

The Jerusalem Post reported that as of Friday morning (Apr. 10) the number of coronavirus patients in Israel had surged past 10,000, leaving 95 people dead.

According to the Israel Health Ministry, the cities of Jerusalem and Bnei Brak have the highest number of cases in the country—1,780 and 1,681.

Young Indianapolis Police Officer Shot & Killed While Responding to Domestic Violence Call

A young police officer with a promising future was shot and killed after responding to a domestic violence call.

24-year-old Breann Leath, a member of the Indianapolis Metro Police Department, was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon (Apr. 9) after being involved in a fatal shooting.

Social media has been in mourning over Breann’s death and the fact that she put her life on the line to save another during this difficult time in history.

Here are some things to know about Breann and her death:

Officer Breann Leath and another woman were both shot during the encounter.

According to police reports, authorities were called to the 1800 block of Edinburgh Square around 2:50 p.m. for a domestic disturbance.

When they arrived at the apartment, someone inside fired shots. Breann Leath and a woman inside the home were hit by the gunfire.

“She heard the call and went toward that which could do her harm because she knew if she didn’t, harm may come to others,” Mayor Hogsett told news reporters.

Leath was rushed to the hospital where she died from her injuries. The other woman who was shot suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive.

Breann Leath has a young son and recently served in the National Guard.

Breann is the mother of a young son and served in the Army National Guard before joining the Indianapolis Metro Police Department.

In 2017, she was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard as a specialist.

The Army National Guard released the following statement on Breann’s death:

“We are saddened to learn about the loss of Breann Leath, a fellow citizen soldier. Our deepest condolences go out to her family and friends during this difficult time.

“Breann honorably served in the Indiana National Guard, assigned to the 387th Military Police Company at Camp Atterbury from March 2014 – April 2017. She was honorably discharged as a specialist.

“Her teammates were devastated to hear of her passing. They reminisce of her journey and strong desires to serve her community and country as a selfless citizen. She had a positive impact on not only her fellow soldiers, but the many others in which she served.”

Sgt. Stephen Mann, battalion assistant operations noncommissioned officer, also spoke to Fox59 news about Breann and how great of a person she was.

“Breann was the perfect example of what it means to be in the National Guard. She was a young woman from the start who wanted to give back and protect others,” Sgt. Mann said.

“While she wasn’t old enough yet to join the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, she became a military police officer to receive the very best training and when the time came, be ready to answer the call. She was a hero, a beacon in her community, a symbol of change, and a source of motivation to do more. This city, state and country lost one of its very best.”

Breann comes from a family with a law enforcement background.

Breann was destined to be in law enforcement, having come from a family with that background.

Her father is a Marion County sheriff’s deputy and her mother is an emergency dispatcher with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

“She is the example of the type of officer we want on this department,” Indianapolis Metro Police Department Chief Randal Taylor told said.

Breann’s killer was arrested and is facing serious charges.

27-year-old Elliahs Dorsey has been arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder in connection with the shooting death of officer Breann Leath.

Police claim Dorsey fired a series of gunshots from behind a closed door into an apartment hallway, hitting officer Leath. Officers on the scene did not return fire.

One of Dorsey’s neighbors, Deschantrice Smith, witnessed the shooting and told authorities that Dorsey didn’t believe he shot a police officer.

“There were gunshots and then her falling down the steps. After she fell down the steps you heard a woman yell ‘No’ and a man yell ‘That’s not the real damn police,” Smith said.

Smith also remembers authorities who arrived to the scene were deeply saddened to find Leath shot and fighting for her life.

“They were all crying and sad thinking about what happened to the young lady,” she said.

The murder suspect Elliahs Dorsey is said to only have a speeding ticket on his record and doesn’t have a criminal history.

Friends and family are devastated by Breann’s death.

Teen Mom 2 star Jade Cline revealed that she was close friends with Breann and the two spent a lot of time in high school together.

Cline tweeted about how devastated she was to hear the tragic news.

“Love you @RochelleBreezy. We were best friends in high school and spent almost every day together. Regret not spending more time together as we grew older. Always in my heart. God gained an angel. Praying for your family and zay. RIP beautiful.”

Cline also tweeted: “Sitting here not understanding how the f**k this is even true. s**t is f**king heart breaking.”

Governor Holcomb also released a statement about Breann’s death.

“Officer Leath gave her life as she answered the call of duty,” Holcomb said. “Janet and I are heartbroken for her family, friends and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. I ask every Hoosier to join me in honoring Officer Leath’s courageous service and dedication to her community. She will be forever remembered for being the finest among us.”

“Roommates With Benefits” Attempt Threesome That Ends in Bloody Fight & Arrest

What was supposed to be a night of sexual fantasy fulfillments ended in a bloody brawl and an arrest in a small South Carolina town.

According to reports, Michael Charles and Michelle Fleming, both 47 years old, are “roommates with benefits,” and they decided to take their exploits to another level by including another man, Brian Alden, 40-years-old, in their nighttime fun at their home in Duncan (a town in Spartanburg County).

Fleming told investigators that Charles wanted to fulfill a sexual fantasy of his, so he called up Alden to “hang out and possibly have a threesome with him and Fleming.”

Unfortunately, the night took a turn for the worse for the trio.

After the three of them had sex, Charles started to feel weird about Alden’s presence and asked the man to leave.

While he did leave initially, he returned shortly after and demanded to be let back into the home.

Fleming told Charles to let him back in for round two, and the three attempted to have intercourse yet again.

This time, however, Alden wasn’t able to perform, so a frustrated Charles asked him to leave again.

According to officers who responded to a call after 2:00 a.m., things quickly escalated into a physical altercation from there.

The fight spilled out into the backyard, and during the scuffle, Charles suffered a head laceration, a bloodied nose, and an eye that was swollen shut.

However, Alden received the worst of it. He had a head wound that required 12 stitches after Charles hit him in the head with a stone.

Alden was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he continued to complain of hand and wrist pain suffered from his punching.

Alden ended up being arrested after his treatments on counts of assault and battery and trespassing, but was released on a personal recognizance bond.

Iyanna Mayweather Facing Up to 99 Years in Prison for Stabbing NBA YoungBoy’s Allegedly Pregnant Baby Mama

Floyd Mayweather’s 19-year-old daughter Iyanna isn’t out of the woods just yet when it comes to her stabbing case.

As we previously reported, Iyanna Mayweather was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon last Friday (Apr. 3) after she got into a violent altercation with NBA YoungBoy’s allegedly pregnant baby mama, Lapattra Jacobs, that ended in Jacobs being stabbed by Mayweather twice and required the woman to undergo emergency surgery.

According to Bossip, if convicted as charged, Iyanna (aka “Yaya”) could face up to 99 years in prison, in addition to a $10,000 fine.

Bossip also reports that Yaya has hired J. Prince’s lawyer, Kurt Schaffer, to represent her in the case.

Schaffer says Mayweather plans to plead guilty when she heads back to court in August 2020.

Schaffer represented J. Prince after the Rap-A-Lot CEO was accused of ordering a man to be jumped in 2007 at a gym Prince owned.

Prince allegedly hired Ronnie Bookman to be jumped because he refused to sell his ownership stake in a local recording studio.

The case was later dropped after prosecutors found that Bookman broke the law and committed perjury in an unrelated $10 million civil suit against Prince.

Chicago Jail Now Largest-Known COVID-19 Source in U.S. With Over 400 Inmates & Staff Testing Positive

A jail in a Chicago suburb has become the largest-known source of new COVID-19 cases in the nation with over 400 confirmed cases among inmates and jail employees, according to a New York Times report.

The cases started slowly in the Cook County jail, with only two inmates out of more than 4,000 testing positive back on March 23rd.

In just over two weeks, that number grew to 276, despite placing the original two inmates in isolation cells to mitigate further spreading of the virus.

In addition to the nearly 300 inmates, 172 sheriff’s office staff have also tested positive for the virus.

Despite the quickly growing numbers, the jail, which is operated by the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, hasn’t tested the vast majority of its 4,500 inmates.

Tom Dart, the Sheriff in charge, has said that they’ve been taking proactive measures and the situation is being overblown.

“People try to make a big story of just the numbers that we have here and you know at this point, I’m really having a hard time dealing with the ignorance out there,” he said in a statement. “There are other states that aren’t testing anybody in their correctional facility, so they can say they have zero.”

The news comes after the U.S. experienced its first inmate death caused by the COVID-19 virus that has led to a worldwide pandemic.

Concerns for further deaths have led to civil rights activists calling for prison systems to take measures to protect their inmates, including releasing some nonviolent inmates.

“First and foremost, no one should be locked up if they’re not a danger to the community or a flight risk,” Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot told CNN. “And certainly not because they can’t afford to pay bail.”

While some states, such as California, have announced they will do so, others haven’t made any decisions on how to handle the problem.

However, on Monday (Apr 6), the U.S. Attorney General William Barr issued a memo asking federal prosecutors to implement measures to protect inmates.

Meanwhile, at least two Cook County detainees have died from the novel coronavirus in the past week alone.

Relationship Between Jazz’s Rudy Gobert & Donovan Mitchell “Unsalvageable” After Coronavirus

It seems like it was forever ago when Utah Jazz’s Rudy Gobert made light of the COVID-19 situation by touching all of the mics during a press conference before testing positive and essentially shutting down sports.

Not only did Gobert contract the virus that has caused a worldwide pandemic, but he also gave it to fellow teammate and burgeoning superstar Donovan Mitchell.

While Gobert has since apologized for his reckless actions and donated $500k to support those who have been affected by coronavirus, Mitchell has found it difficult to forgive his teammate for giving him the virus.

After testing positive, Mitchell went into quarantine to prevent from spreading the virus to anyone else, but remained in high spirits during his isolation.

“I’m fine, things are going well, I’m just in isolation,” he said in a televised interview. “No fever, no symptoms as of right now, and I’m thankful to be okay.”

However, the time spent in quarantine and now being cleared of the virus has not quelled the hostility Mitchell feels for his teammate for giving him the virus.

In a new report, sources told NBA Insider Shams Charania that the relationship between the two “doesn’t appear salvageable.”

The Jazz have been trying to repair the relationship so that the two can continue to play together whenever the NBA season resumes.

Fellow teammate, Joe Ingles, is hopeful, telling The Athletic: “I have no doubt when we go back to training, or when our season starts again, our team is going to be what we have been and what we are.”

Only time will tell how Mitchell and Gobert’s on-court chemistry will be, but as of now, there’s no set date for when the NBA season will resume.

Willow Smith on Life After She Stopped Smoking Weed: “It Was a Really Big Eye-Opener”

Willow Smith says she stopped smoking weed amid the coronavirus pandemic, and it’s really opened her eyes to the world around her.

During a recent episode of Red Table Talk, Willow, her mom Jada Pinkett-Smith and grandmother Adrienne Banfield-Norris all talked about their experiences battling addiction and how they’re coping during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Willow revealed that she’d recently put a stop to her “excessive” weed-smoking, saying that she hasn’t consumed marijuana in three months.

“When I stopped smoking it was a really big, like, eye-opener,” she said. “There are so many people that I called friends in my life who kind of like… [drifted away]. It really made me think like, ‘This is really interesting.'”

Once she stopped smoking weed all day every day, Willow said she found a new way to channel that energy into more productive passions, such as yoga and learning Spanish.

“And I know this sounds cheesy but around the time I stopped smoking, I started doing a lot of yoga and I just excelled because I was putting all of my energy into that, I wasn’t doing anything else,” she explained.

“And I was like, ‘Wow, what if I was doing this with everything?’ And it really made me think, ‘What have I been missing? What have I been not putting my all into or putting all of my brainpower into?'”

https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1593603440813832

Willow went on to say that she would often smoke out of pure boredom, which is something she now deals with constantly while self-isolating during the pandemic, and she advised others with chronic marijuana-smoking habits to ask themselves questions to figure out why they smoke so much and decide whether or not it’s problematic.

“Just really think about what is the first thought in your head before you smoke. What is your first thought? And if that’s a thought of stress or using it as a crutch in any way, try to think about that,” she noted.

“And if that comes from a negative place, examine that. Because if it comes from a negative place, that could snowball. Just think about what are some other things that you could utilize that are physically or mentally dampening.”

Banfield-Norris, who revealed that she overdosed a number of times while she was battling a heroin addiction and has been sober for nearly 30 years, said she was happy that her granddaughter decided to stop smoking weed all the time.

Pinkett-Smith also applauded her daughter, saying: “Willow, I’m proud of you because you decided to curb your excess weed smoking. Because as your mother, I could see the effects of it that you couldn’t.”

Queen Naija Searches for Son CJ After Ex-Husband, YouTuber Chris Sails, is Arrested for Assault in Texas

Chris Sails, a popular YouTuber with more than 3 million subscribers, was arrested in Texas on charges of aggravated assault.

It isn’t clear what landed Sails behind bars, but online arrest records (via The Shade Room) show that the 24-year-old was booked on a warrant for “aggravated assault causing serious bodily harm.”

Fans became concerned after his ex-wife, R&B singer Queen Naija (who is also a popular YouTube vlogger) posted and deleted a message on her Instagram stories saying she was looking for their son CJ and didn’t know whose custody he was in with his dad being locked up.

“I need my son now,” the singer wrote. “Whoever has my son contact me NOW. If you guys know who Chris be around and with DM ME!! I can not locate my son.”

Naija has since located the former couple’s son, as noted in an update she shared to her IG stories.

“To be clear, I found where my baby was and spoke to him and will be with him soon,” she wrote. “I would never post anything like this for attention. I posted that on my story out of fear after receiving a call from someone in the social services department. I then tried to contact only who I knew in Houston and nobody was answering me.”

She continued: “I only made a post in hopes of someone reaching out to me on IG who is around my son often, because I don’t know anyone’s socials. Everything is fine … thanks.”

While details about Sails’ arrest are still unknown, the social media personality has since been released from a Houston-area jail on a $15,000 bond.

Of course, this is not Christopher Sails’ first run-in with the law.

He was arrested twice in 2018—once for allegedly assaulting his then-girlfriend, My Wife & Kids actress Parker McKenna, and another previous time, along with three others, for impersonating a Houston police officer in a “prank” video to help promote a local concert.

Man Serving 27 Years in Prison for Nonviolent Offense Dies of Coronavirus a Month After Being Denied Early Release

A man arrested for nonviolent drug charges who was 13 years into a 27-year sentence has become the first federal inmate in the United States to die due to complications from COVID-19, according to reports.

49-year-old Patrick Jones was arrested back in 2007 when police officers found 19 grams of crack and 21 grams of powder cocaine inside his apartment in the college town of Temple, Texas.

He was sentenced to a lengthy prison term because of previous charges and close proximity to a junior college, while his wife, who testified against him, didn’t serve any time.

Jones, who has a 16-year-old son, was attempting to get an early release after learning about the First Step Act which offers inmates the possibility of a sentence reduction.

Back in October, he wrote an emotional letter to U.S. District Judge Alan Albright to plead his case, in which he stated that he didn’t want this son to go down a similar path.

“My child having his own experience of raising his own child would validate my life experience and give meaning to my existence in this world, because 83582-180 has no meaning,” he wrote in the letter, referring to his prison inmate number.

“It is just a number to be forgotten in time. But Mr. Patrick Estell Jones is a very good person. Caring, hard-working, free and clean of drugs, and a lot smarter now, with a balanced outlook on life.”

His request was denied in February, and less than a month later, Jones passed away from complications caused by the coronavirus.

According to authorities, Jones was known to have “long-term, pre-existing medical conditions,” which placed him at a higher risk of death if he contracted the virus.

This is a problem that has many people worried as the worldwide pandemic continues to spread throughout national prisons.

In fact, Attorney General William Barr has already acknowledged the risks prisoners face in light of recent developments.

In an announcement Friday (Apr. 3), Barr said that he was directing the Bureau of Prisons to give at-risk inmates special treatment to keep them protected, but the measures aren’t enough for civil liberties groups who claim countless US prisoners are still too exposed to the virus.

On the same day of his announcement, it was revealed that 91 inmates and 50 staff members at 122 facilities across the U.S. have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

Nurse Practitioner Facing Felony Drug Charges After Asking Cops to Test Her Meth for Coronavirus

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to plague the world, people are taking extra precautions to ensure that they remain safe. That, apparently, is what drove a woman in Iowa to take her meth to her local police headquarters to have it tested for the virus.

53-year-old Shawn Salmen was arrested on Sunday (Apr 5) after she went to the Sioux City Police Department and asked the officers on duty to ensure her narcotics were not contaminated with the novel coronavirus, according to reports.

Officers immediately knew that something was wrong, as the woman was showing signs of impairment including erratic behavior, paranoia, profuse sweating, and freely admitting to having recently consumed methamphetamine, court documents state.

Officers promptly performed a search of both Salmen and her vehicle, where they found 14.4 grams of meth, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

She was arrested and charged with felonies of failure to affix a drug tax stamp and controlled substance abuse along with a first-offense possession of marijuana.

Salmen, who is a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner for two local medical centers, was clearly worried about the continued spreading of COVID-19 … because in her most recent Facebook post, she told people to “WAKE THE F**K UP” and said that she couldn’t believe the ignorance of people not sheltering in place.

She was taken to the Woodbury County jail but was released on Tuesday after posting a $25,000 bond.

Former NFL Player Chris Johnson Accused of Hiring Hitman to Murder 2 Men Suspected of Shooting Him & Killing His Friend

Former NFL running back, Chris Johnson, has been accused of hiring a hitman to take out two men in revenge of a shooting back in 2015, sources say.

Johnson, a three-time Pro Bowler, has vehemently denied the claims, but authorities are gathering intelligence that they claim links him to not only the revenge hit, but also in helping fund a drug operation in Florida.

The allegations stem back to an incident that took place in Orlando, FL on March 8th, 2015.

Johnson suffered a gunshot wound to his shoulder while riding in a Jeep that was fired upon. The driver, a friend of Johnson’s, was shot in the head and did not survive what is believed to be a targeted attack.

Shortly after the shooting, Johnson took to social media with a strongly worded message for his attackers.

“I HEARD YOU P***IES LOOKIN 4 me,” the post read. “WE GOT something in common….f**k YA!!!! #juice.”

Chris denied he was seeking revenge at the time, saying, “I don’t live that life.”

Police, who have been working with an informant familiar with the case, claim that the following year, Florida gang member Dominic Bolden shot and killed the two men who were believed to be the ones who killed Johnson’s friend.

In exchange for the hit, that same informant told authorities that Johnson gave Bolden “funds and an individual who could continually supply Dominic Bolden with as much narcotics as needed to supply” the drug organization.

The alleged murder for hire incident earned Bolden the respect of other Florida gang members, elevating him to the “de facto leader,” according to reports.

While he has not been formally charged with any crimes, Johnson, also known as CJ2K for his 2,000+ rushing yards season, is believed to be involved with the assistance of day-to-day operations of the Florida drug organization.

However, his representatives deny the claims, saying that there is “no validity to any of these accusations.”

Husband of Grandma Who Mistakenly Invited Teen to Thanksgiving & Befriended Him Dies of Coronavirus

One of the most heartwarming viral stories in the past few years has, sadly, begun a heartbreaking chapter.

The husband of Wanda Dench—the grandmother who gained nationwide attention after texting and inviting a teen she believed to be her grandson to Thanksgiving—has died of coronavirus complications.

Lonnie Dench passed away on Sunday (Apr. 5) after battling COVID-19 and pneumonia.

Wanda honored her husband in a statement to local news outlet Arizona’s Family:

“He had the truest heart of love, like no other. He did so many acts of kindness that no one ever heard about. He was my hero. And I’m a better person because of him.”

Jamal Hinton—the man who has bonded with the Denches after Wanda accidentally invited him to Thanksgiving dinner—shared the sad news of Lonnie’s passing on Twitter on Wednesday (Apr. 8).

“As some of you may have already found out tonight Lonnie did not make it,” he wrote.

“But Wanda told me all the love and support he was receiving put a huge smile on his face so I thank every single one of you guys for that!”

Hinton was also the first to share that Wanda and Lonnie were both battling COVID-19, noting that Wanda was unable to see her husband because he was hospitalized and she was recovering at home.

“I am so sad to announce that Wanda and Lonnie both have COVID-19 and that Lonnie is currently in the hospital fighting both COVID and Pneumonia,” he tweeted in early April. “Please send words of love and encouragement their way.”

However, on Wednesday he informed his followers that “Wanda is not sick.”

It’s unclear if she’s asymptomatic, recovered, or was never diagnosed with COVID-19.

Hinton (along with his girlfriend and family members) have spent Thanksgiving with Lonnie and Wanda every year since 2016 and the texting mishap. He and his girlfriend have even gone on double dates with the Denches.

Their story touched the entire nation and continues to do so. It’s a heartbreaking loss and our thoughts are with Wanda and her family, and Hinton.

“RIP Lonnie” even trended on Twitter as others shared their condolences.

Bill O’Reilly Says People Who Died From Coronavirus “Were on Their Last Legs Anyway”

Bill O’Reilly has some very “interesting” thoughts on wave of deaths due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

The disgraced former Fox News host appeared on his former colleague Sean Hannity’s radio show Wednesday (Apr. 8) and it sounds like he doesn’t have a lot of sympathy for those who have died of the virus, saying that those who succumb to the virus tend to be older and are more likely to have other health problems anyway.

“Many people who are dying, both here and around the world, were on their last legs anyway,” O’Reilly said. “I don’t want to sound callous about that.

O’Reilly’s statement was made after Hannity asked if he thought there was a simple fix for the pandemic that could put us closer to being back to living normal lives.

“I want life back to normal, can you fix that in a simple way?” Hannity asked. “Oh man I wish I could, you know?” O’Reilly responded.

O’Reilly continued: “But we’re making little steps. Bernie Sanders, you know, he’s—he’s gone, that’s really good for everybody. The projections that you just mentioned are down to 60,000, I don’t think it will be that high. 13,000 dead now in the USA. Many people who are dying, both here and around the world, were on their last legs anyway, and I don’t want to sound callous about that.”

Hannity interjected: “You’re gonna get hammered for that.”

“Well, I don’t care,” O’Reilly said. “I mean, a simple man tells the truth.

“You’re going to see … the Centers for Disease Control, at the end of all this, is going to say this percentage of people who died from the virus, also had other things that killed them.”

The novel coronavirus has killed over 14,000 Americans since February 28th, the date of the first reported coronavirus-related death in the U.S. and the toll continues to grow, with nearly 2,000 deaths reported on Wednesday (Apr. 8) alone. Almost 800 of those deaths were in New York.

Bill O’Reilly paid at least $45 million to settle allegations of sexual harassment, with $32 million of that going to a former Fox News analyst in a scandal that eventually led to him getting fired from Fox News.

Mississippi Barber Dies of Coronavirus After Continuing to Cut Hair During Pandemic

A beloved Mississippi barber has died of COVID-19, and a number of social media posts suggest that he may have contracted the virus while still cutting hair during the nationwide quarantine.

46-year-old Eugene Thompson, the owner of Taper Nation and Taper Nation 2 barbershops, died Saturday (Apr. 4) at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS after testing positive for the novel coronavirus two weeks prior.

The barber last posted on Facebook on March 17th, saying he “felt a little [achy]” and had a slight fever and was at the doctor being tested for the virus.

He said his barbershop would be closed for the rest of the week, adding that he needed the “well-deserved rest and relaxation.”

Earlier that day, he also posted: “Due to the coronavirus TaperNation will only be accepting clients that are ONLY receiving a service until further notice… SO if [you’re] not receiving a service … don’t come !!”

Thompson tested positive for COVID-19 on March 22nd, and immediately followed CDC guidelines to self-isolate.

However, two days later, he was fighting for his life in the hospital. He passed away on Saturday, April 4th, less than one week after his 46th birthday.

“He couldn’t get up and walk to the car, not walk around the house cause he couldn’t do that anyway. At 12:22 p.m. the nurse practitioner in the ICU at St. Dominic called me and said his heart stopped and we couldn’t revive him,” Eugene’s sister, Dedra Edwards, told WJTV Saturday.

Because Eugene’s job as a professional barber requires him to be around a number of people on any given day, it would be difficult to determine how he contracted COVID-19.

However, there are a number of pictures and videos on his Facebook page showing him in a crowded room full of people getting haircuts at what appears to be some type of barber competition on March 15th—just two days before he started showing symptoms of the disease.

At the time, neither the city of Jacksonville nor the state of Mississippi had issued any type of local, government-mandated “stay-at-home” orders, however, it was known that we were in the middle of a pandemic, and federal officials had been advising people to not congregate in large groups since the beginning of March.

“Our last memory of him is getting on the ambulance,” Eugene’s sister Dedra said. “We weren’t able to say goodbye, he was alone my brother was all by himself.”

Eugene’s family is now begging people to take the coronavirus seriously so that other families don’t have to experience the type of grief they’re currently experiencing.

“Everybody before you go outside, or before you decide to go to your friend’s house make sure before you make that decision you know going outside that door could very well kill you, your children, or your parents,” Dedra said.

Lil Nas X Reveals He Didn’t Want to Come Out As Gay, Doesn’t Speak to His Mom: “I Planned to Die With the Secret”

Lil Nas X came out as gay last year at the end of pride month.

He has since proudly embraced his identity, advocates for the LGBTQ community, and has sparked a needed conversation about homosexuality in the music and hip-hop industries.

But the rapper just revealed to the Guardian that he never had any intention of coming out of the closet and what compelled him to ultimately do so.

“The honest truth is, I planned to die with the secret. But that changed when I became Lil Nas X.”

Nas X aims to represent and support the LGBTQ community as best as he can, but he also doesn’t want his young fans to feel pressured into coming out if they’re not ready, especially in a society that isn’t always welcoming or tolerant.

“I 100 percent want to represent the LGBT community. I don’t want to encourage them to do something they don’t 100 percent want to do. Especially in, like, middle school or high school. Because it’s just super-hard.”

“It’s easier for me. I’m not depending on anybody,” the rapper continued. “There’s no one who’s going to kick me out of the house—nobody to start treating me sh**ty.”

Nas X—whose real name is Montero Hill—also talked about his relationship with his family since coming out. He says they avoid the topic.

“My family knows now. But it’s not something that’s ever brought up or we speak about. We’re quiet on it. Nobody’s like, ‘Oh, you got a boyfriend?'” he said.

However, he wants to have a healthy relationship with his family so that they can have open discussions about it.

“I don’t want [my love life] to be something we never talk about. Because what about the kids in my family? I would like it to be a healthy medium between, ‘Who are you f***ing?’ and just not saying anything.”

He also revealed that he’s not on speaking terms with his mother, but it’s unclear if its because he’s gay or due to other reasons.

“People have to be willing to help themselves first before you can help them,” he told the publication, unwilling to share more about his mom.
