With schools shut down and people across the country quarantining at home, it’s understandable that a lot of us are looking for ways to keep ourselves entertained.
Unfortunately for one Virginia teen, her attempt at fun ended with the fire department having to rescue her from a washing machine.
Amari Dancy, 18, was playing a game of hide-and-seek with some of her younger relatives on Sunday (Apr 19), and since most of the best hiding spots had already been used, she had the bright idea to hide in the appliance, reports say.
“We already hid underneath the bed, in the closet, and we couldn’t go down in the basement,” Dancy told reporters. “So, I was like ‘Oh, OK, let’s just hide in the washer machine.”
While she gets an A+ for the idea, her execution left a little to be desired, because after a while, she was found by her younger cousin and quickly realized she couldn’t get out.
The cousin told the adults in the house, and they quickly called 911 for assistance.
Upon their arrival, Dancy was worried that they might not be able to get her out, but luckily, they realized they could remove the top of the washer and free her.
The rescue effort was captured by her aunt on Instagram.
Dancy was able to get out without sustaining any injuries, with the only thing hurt from the experience being her ego.
“I mean it’s pretty embarrassing, but all I can do is laugh it off,” she said. “I had a laugh out of it, my family had a laugh out of it, I’m OK. As long as I’m OK, that’s all that matters to me.”
The incident highlights some of the struggles that families across the country are experiencing during this quarantine, and it led to her aunt telling reporters that it’s “time to let kids go back to school please!”
Trey Songz is finally showing off the mother of his now 1-year-old son Noah.
Since Noah’s birth last year, which came as a surprise to us all, fans have been itching to see who the baby’s mother is.
Trey took to Instagram Wednesday (Apr. 22) and showed love to his son’s mother in a touching post.
Along with a gallery of photos showing the mystery woman, whose name he didn’t reveal, the 35-year-old singer wrote:
“I’m obsessed; we did that, YOU did that! You’re a great Mother and you deal with all the extra’s very gracefully. I’ll always be eternally grateful to you Noah’s Mumma.”

Trey has been pretty quiet about his private family life. He’s kept Noah’s mother off social media since their son’s birth last April.
When fans have inquired about his son’s mother, Trey has been quick to thwart the speculation.
He told one commenter: “Noah’s mom and you don’t have sh** to talk about. And the rest of y’all either mind ya f**kin business.”
The proud dad celebrated his son’s first birthday Tuesday (Apr. 21) with a sweet message.
“I love you Noah. I thank God for bringing you to me at a time I needed your love the most,” he captioned a photo of the tot. “1 year passed unbelievably fast but within the first second of meeting you, I knew you would be the light of my life until I take my last breath. Happy Birthday son.”

He also posted a video of Noah laughing (“Me and my boy trippin,” he captioned it) and another adorable clip of them beatboxing together, which he captioned: “Noah on da beat.”
A mother-of-four from Idaho was arrested after she violated the state’s stay-at-home order by staging a protest at a playground that had been closed to the public as part of efforts to combat the spread of coronavirus.
40-year-old Sara Walton Brady and a group of parents gathered at Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park in Meridian Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 21) to participate in a “playdate protest” against Idaho Governor Brad Little’s stay-at-home order.
On March 23rd, in response to the coronavirus pandemic, Meridian officials closed city playgrounds and outdoor equipment, though walking paths were allowed to remain open.
Gov. Little’s statewide stay-at-home order went into effect on March 25th and is expected to last through April 30th.
Tuesday’s rally was reportedly organized with the help of the Idaho Freedom Foundation—a conservative organization dedicated to depleting “the power of special interests and free people from government dependency,” according to its website.
The group has been vocal in their opposition to Gov. Little’s stay-at-home order and has staged a number of peaceful protests at various locations that have been closed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
According to the Meridian Police Department, Walton was among a group of demonstrators who removed caution tape and signs instructing people to not use the playground equipment.
Police said the group was repeatedly told the playground was off-limits, however, they were free to use other areas of the park.
Video footage captured from a bystander’s cell phone showed officers asking Brady and the others to leave the playground, but they refused, insisting that they were not trespassing.
“Ma’am, I’ve told you to exit numerous times,” one officer could be heard saying to Brady. “This is it. Exit the playground now. I’m really trying to be nice about this.”
According to a press release from the Meridian Police Department, Brady was booked into the local jail on a single count of misdemeanor trespassing and was released Tuesday evening on a $300 cash bond.
Meridian officers said they made several attempts to help Brady adhere to the rules, but she was “non-compliant and forced officers to place her under arrest to resolve the issue.”
The statement from the department continued: “These are very trying times and the Meridian Police Department supports the public’s right to assemble for peaceful protest, however the right does not include damaging public property or ignoring closures of City property and facilities.”
Immediately after posting bond, Brady was joined by hundreds of people at Meridian City Hall and they continued protesting against the governor’s stay-at-home order.
“I feel like I was singled out because I was the only person that was arrested,” Brady told CBS2 News. “I wasn’t the only person standing on the bark. I definitely wasn’t playing on the playground equipment. I wasn’t swinging, never touched them. But yeah, I do feel like I was singled out and maybe it was because I asked too many questions.”
Brady is well-known figure in the Meridian community. She’s the founder of the group Idahoans for Vaccine Freedom, and in 2017, she made headlines over her decision not to vaccinate her own children after she demanded a public apology from officials because her then-5-year-old son had been denied admission into kindergarten because he wasn’t properly immunized.
The protests in Idaho are part of a growing nationwide trend in which people stage demonstrations against stay-at-home orders while also blatantly violating social distancing restrictions.
President Trump fired off tweets last week urging residents in Michigan, Minnesota and Virginia to “LIBERATE” their states.
As of Wednesday (Apr. 22), there are more than 1,700 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Idaho and 51 deaths.
A guy got the shock of a lifetime when his girlfriend revealed to him that she’s really a man.
In footage captured of her “breaking” the surprising news, the two are seen riding in a car laughing and joking when all of a sudden the woman mentions she’s going to get gender reassignment surgery after the coronavirus pandemic is over.
With a confused look on his face, the guy asks his girlfriend to repeat what she said, to which she responds: “Why you think we wasn’t having sex? You think I was just telling you no just because?”
The guy responds back to her telling her to quit joking, but little does he know it’s not a game.
“Don’t play with me like that. I will beat the piss out you. I thought you were just a nice little church girl,” the guy says.
The woman explains to him that she is getting surgery on May 1st and that her having a penis is no big deal.
“No, I’m really getting a gender change. It’s going to get taken care of on May 1st,” she says in the video.
In response to this, the man instantly demands that the woman stop the car and pull her penis out to show him it’s real. And she does exactly that in the video!
After she pulls it out on him, the man loses it and hops out of the car before threatening to shoot the woman.
“Are you f**king serious?!” he says. “If I shoot you in your face, then what?!”
The woman begs the man to get back in the car and chases after him as he runs off. But homeboy wasn’t having it.
“Get back in the car. It’s gone get fixed. Ni**as do it all the time,” she tells him.
By then, the man is seen on camera calling someone to pick him up. Whoever he called he also told them the news about the woman having a penis.
“That’s why I didn’t f**k that hoe. That hoe got a d**k son,” he tells the person on the phone before the video ends.
The video has since gone viral on Twitter, where many people pointed out in the comments that the “penis” the woman pulled out of her pants was actually a strap-on dildo.
I swear I was thinking that, her titties sit to natural and her voice to feminine to be a actual man
An up-and-coming rapper from Louisiana named Bennahhunnaa was shot by his ex-girlfriend after he refused to leave her house … and the whole thing went down on Instagram Live.
The crazy footage starts off with Bennahhunnaa taunting his ex after she makes it clear she wants him to leave.
“You want to pull a gun on me? You live, you bout that. You gone shoot me?” he says to her.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B_RB1SVJRp0/
The woman replies asking Bennahhunnaa to take her off Instagram Live numerous times, which he refuses to do and keeps recording.
“Get me off camera. Get out of my house!” the woman yelled.
Bennahhunnaa responded back to her: “This my phone you can’t tell me to do sh*t.”
As the rapper keeps recording and follows the woman into another room in the house, she warns him that she will shoot and kill him while he is on Instagram Live.
“Do you want to die on live?” she asks him.
Bennahhunnaa doesn’t take the woman seriously and even threatens to slap her.
“You not gone pull it. You ain’t no gangster. Bet you I will slap the piss out of you,” he says.
Literally seconds later, the woman fires a shot at the man and he falls to the ground and drops his phone.
“Ahh f**k. This girl just shot me. This girl just shot me,” the rapper screams while laying on the floor before the video cuts off.
Following the shooting, Bennahhunnaa responded to the situation on Instagram and called out people who were defending his ex for her actions.
“If you takin up for [that] hoe get off my page,” he wrote.
A Nigerian woman has given birth to miracle twins; the miracle being that the first-time mother is 68 years old and her husband is in his seventies!
Margaret Adenuga gave birth to a boy and a girl at 37 weeks via caesarian section earlier this month after her fourth round of IVF treatments.
Margaret and husband Noah Adenuga—who married in 1974—never gave up on their desire to become parents after 43 years of trying, despite the three failed rounds of IVF and the many doctors that warned of the dangers of being pregnant at Margaret’s age.
(FYI: CNN reports Noah is 77 years old, however, The Daily Mail reports that he’s 70.)
The new father told BBC that he and his wife remained committed to having a baby after he had a dream in 1996 in which it was revealed that they would be “known across the world.”
“I am a dreamer, and I was convinced this particular dream of ours will come to pass,” he told CNN.
The twins were delivered at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. The hospital did not perform the IVF treatments and it hasn’t been publicly reported were Margaret received the fourth round of IVF.
Margaret was then referred to LUTH after becoming pregnant and a team of specialists was assembled to monitor the high-risk pregnancy.
Dr. Adeyemi Okunowo delivered the twins. He called them “a miracle” and stated that Margaret was very lucky.
“There are age-related medical complications that come with being pregnant at that age such as the baby being born preterm,” the doctor told CNN. “She’s lucky but many may succumb to other complications during or after having a baby.”
A 73-year-old Indian woman safely gave birth to twin girls last year, also conceived through IVF. She is believed to be the oldest person to ever give birth.
French Montana and Young Thug are going at it on social media, and it’s all because of a comment French made about him having more hits than Kendrick Lamar.
The back-and-forth between the rappers started after French said in an interview with Complex that although Kendrick Lamar has masterpieces when it comes to his body of work, French feels as though he would “outshine” Kendrick at a music festival because he has “more hits.”
“I mean, honestly, you could put somebody like Kendrick Lamar next to me on the same stage at a festival. I might outshine him… not because I’m a better rapper or whatever it is. It’s just that I got more hits,” French said.
“Kendrick Lamar got albums. He got masterpieces. But if you were to put us on the festival stage I would outshine him because I have more hits than Kendrick Lamar.”
After hip-hop fans sounded off on French’s comments on Twitter and started to drag him, the “No Stylist” rapper clarified his statement, saying that he wasn’t saying he’s a better rapper than K.Dot … he just has more “anthems.”
“IF WE JUST TALKING ABOUT ANTHEMS, !! ME VS KENDRICK HIT FOR HIT ! I BELIEVE I CAN GO NECK TO NECK !!” French tweeted.
“I BEEN MAKING HITS FOR A LONG TIME ! IT AINT MY FAULT I BELIEVE IN MYSELF. HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO ANSWER THAT QUESTION ? HOW MANY TIMES I GOTTA PROVE MYSELF BEFORE I GET MINE…”
IF WE JUST TALKING ABOUT ANTHEMS, !! ME VS KENDRICK HIT FOR HIT ! I BELIEVE I CAN GO NECK TO NECK !! I BEEN MAKING HITS FOR A LONG TIME ! IT AINT MY FAULT I BELIEVE IN MYSELF. HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO ANSWER THAT QUESTION ? HOW MANY TIMES I GOTTA PROVE MYSELF BEFORE I GET MINE ?
He continued: I love kendrick! that’s not just for kendrick that’s to anybody they put in front of me, and ask me that same question … what u want me to say lol ? It should be your attitude too. If u think any less of yourself don’t blame it on the next person who don’t!”

Apparently that explanation wasn’t good enough for Young Thug, because he let it be known that he still does NOT approve of French Montana’s assertion that he has more hits than Kendrick Lamar.
“Stupid a** n***a say he got more hits than Kendrick Lamar … Fool!” Thugger said of Montana on his Instagram stories, which was re-posted on Twitter.

French Montana responded moments later by posted an alleged photo of Young Thug wearing a skirt.
“HAD TO WEAR THE SKURT TO TUCK THE SCAT LINE UP HAVE CHANGED YOUNG THUG VS FRDNCH MONTANA HITS SINCE YOU WANNA JUMP IN SOME SHIT THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU ! DONT TALK MONEY TO ME MY BOI !! THAT’S REALLY YOU UP THERE,” French wrote in the caption of the since-deleted Instagram post.
French then shared a video on his IG stories thanking Thugger for wearing a skirt in his “No Stylist” video.
“Aye Thug man, thank you for wearing that skirt for me on ‘No Stylist.’ You heard?” French said. “Hold of cap. F**k with you though. But, worry about 21 Savage before me and Kendrick, you heard?”
Thug responded to French, once again, this time saying that he was simply speaking from an artist’s perspective regarding French not having more popular songs than Kendrick.
“French Montana, bitch a** n***a,” Thug started. “Listen, bro. Get out of your feelings. I’m only speaking from an artist standpoint. You do not have nowhere near more hits than Kendrick Lamar, whatsoever. You probably won’t ever have more hits than buddy. So, get that out of your head. I don’t know what you’re taking, but get that out of your head.”
He continued: “Second of all … I got off the phone with Savage, told him I was coming to Atlanta to f**k with him for a few days. I was supposed to get on a jet today, but I didn’t make it – that’s why he said I’m in the hall of cap. We don’t got no smoke with each other, p***y.
“Third of all—and this is what I get for even f**king with n***as like you. I wore that dress in your video cause I wanted to show it’s real love, that’s what it’s supposed to be everytime I do that type of sh**. I thought it was love, but that’s the type of sh** I get f**king with p***y n***as like you. It’s okay. I know you smoke dope.”
https://www.instagram.com/p/B_Rw1nIHqan/
“I don’t even get cool points in my lil n***a hood for talking to suckers like you,” Thug went on. “I don’t even talk to n***as like you bro, stay in your lane I stay in my lane. You ain’t even on my level when it comes to getting no business handled. You a bitch, bro. I’m not going to argue with you or no rap n***a on no internet sh** cause I know that’s what the critics and the white people in this society, that’s what they want.
“That’s what they get a rush off, I don’t even want no problems—nah, I love problems—I don’t want to have no back and forth internet smoke with none of you p***ies. Especially no n***a like you. This sh** come with M’s. You ain’t going to kill nothing or let nothing die. It ain’t that serious. You know what’s up with me bro.”

At one point during Thug and French’s exchange of insults, Thug threatened to call Meek Mill up to get a hold of an alleged video of French getting”knocked out. “I bet Meek find that video! Meek where they knocked his a** out at? Where can I get the video from, Meek?”
Young Thug says he finna call Meek Mill to get an alleged video of French montana getting knocked out ?. pic.twitter.com/J5lnyIZwGv
When it was French’s turn to clap back, he filmed a video lying in the bed shirtless because “that’s how [Thug] like it.” He also questioned the authenticity of the “knockout video” Thug was referring to and offered $1 million for the alleged footage.
“If Meek has some footage of that, tell him to show it to you,” French said. “I got a million dollars if he shows it to you. Does it look like we get beat up? Like a n***a lay hands on me? I been in the game for twenty years. N***as know you going broke.”

French and Thug’s war of words continued through the night, with French posting a picture of Young Thug posing suggestively and Thug firing back with his own “suggestive” photo of French appearing to hump a man.
Thug also pulled up to a house French allegedly used to own and recorded a video outside, writing in the caption of the post on Instagram: “This is the house #AuntieFrench owned once upon a time … Dam thought I had something to do tonight.”
https://www.instagram.com/p/B_SAzkmntm2/
Thug also seemed to have the last word in the beef, writing on his IG stories: “I been on your d**k … Imagine being a French Montana fan.”
Thug also got the words “Auntie French” trending on Twitter after he gave that nickname to French Montana because he smokes “more dope than my auntie.”
An Ohio man who called the coronavirus pandemic a “political ploy” and said the state’s stay-at-home order was “bulls**t” has died after testing positive for the virus.
60-year-old John W. McDaniel passed away last Wednesday (Apr. 15) at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus just one month after he shared a number of posts on Facebook downplaying the seriousness of the disease that has infected over 2.5 million people and has killed over 170,000 worldwide.
“Does anybody have the guts to say this COVID-19 is a political ploy? Asking for a friend. Prove me wrong,” McDaniel wrote on March 13th.
Two days later, he called Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s stay-at-home order that forced the closure of non-essential businesses like bars and restaurants “bulls**t,” saying that the governor “doesn’t have that authority.”
He added: “If you are paranoid about getting sick just don’t go out. It shouldn’t keep those of us from living our lives. The madness has to stop.”
McDaniel’s Facebook account has since been deleted, however, screenshots of his posts were saved and widely shared on social media.
McDaniel’s obituary confirmed that he died “with his loving family by his side from complications from COVID-19.”
It wasn’t clear if McDaniel was suffering from any underlying health conditions that could have contributed to his death, however, his obituary stated that he was a cancer survivor after battling the disease in the 80’s.
McDaniel, who was the president of his company’s industrial manufacturing company, is survived by his wife and two adult sons.
“You could not have known a more loving and loyal husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend,” his obituary read. “Simply put, Johnny McDaniel loved life and loved everyone he knew with his whole heart.”
Despite McDaniel’s posts denying the severity of COVID-19 and slamming measures to slow its spread, his family asked in his obit for “everyone to continue practicing social distancing to keep each other safe.”
“On behalf of the entire Marion County community, we express our deepest sympathies to his family and friends,” Marion Public Health Commissioner Traci Kinsler said in a press release after McDaniel’s death.
“Our thoughts go out to the Marion County community, as well as all Ohioans, and those across the world battling this illness and the families of everyone affected by this pandemic.”
As of April 21st, Ohio has reported more than 13,000 COVID-19 cases and 557 deaths. Marion County has the highest number of cases with more than 2,000 people infected.
Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick made headlines back in March after he said the country should remain open amid the coronavirus pandemic despite the potential health risks.
Now, he’s back with an even more controversial hot take, saying that re-opening the country is “more important” than saving lives.
Patrick appeared on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight Monday (Apr. 20) claiming to be “vindicated” after he was criticized for saying in March that he thought “lots of grandparents” across the country would be willing to die in order to save the country’s economy.
“There are more important things than living, and that’s saving this country for my children and grandchildren and saving this country for all of us,” he said Monday.
“I don’t want to die,” the Lt. Governor added. “Nobody wants to die, but man we gotta take some risks and get back in the game and get this country back up and running.”
Patrick stood by the comments he made in March and said the country never should have been locked down in the first place.
“I’m thankful that we are now beginning to open up Texas and other states because it’s long overdue,” he said. “We cannot endure this much longer … Every month we stay closed, it’s going to take two to three months to rebuild.”
The Texas official also said that “every life is valuable,” however, he believes Texas should not be shut down just because a small percentage of the state’s population is dying.
According to the state health department, more than 20,000 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Texas and 517 people have died so far.
The Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa called out the state’s Republican leaders for the reopening order, saying in a statement: “They would see our family members die to bail out Wall Street.
He added: “The lives of our families, our friends, and our communities have no dollar amount. Texas Republicans can no longer claim to be the pro-life party anymore.”
A Chicago woman is facing serious charges after she shot her boyfriend in the face after he walked in on her with another man.
And yes, you read that exactly right … SHE shot HIM after HE caught HER cheating on him with another man. WhereTheyDoThatAt?!
According to police, 26-year-old Tamara Chapman and her 27-year-old boyfriend had gone shopping for groceries early Saturday (Apr. 18).
When they returned to Chapman’s home, the man left in her car to drive to his home to grab a blender.
When Chapman’s boyfriend returned to her home, he found another man in the apartment. Angered, the boyfriend took Chapman’s car again and drove back to his home.
At that point, Chapman called her boyfriend and demanded that he return her car. When he got back to her home, she refused to drive him home or get him a Lyft.
After the boyfriend attempted to leave on his own through the back door, Chapman confronted him and an argument ensued.
The man told police Chapman then pulled out a gun, pointed it in his face and said to him: “You’re not going to leave me or I’ll f**king kill you.” She then shot him in the jaw.
After getting shot, the man ran to a nearby alley and called 911. Police said he was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
Chapman was arrested at the scene and was later released from jail on a $15,000 bond, according to records from the Cook County State Attorney’s Office.
Chapman faces one count of attempted first-degree murder and is due in domestic violence court on April 24th.
In one of the most disturbing videos you will ever see, a Florida woman confronts her boyfriend for molesting her 12-year-old daughter.
In the 3-minute clip, which was reportedly live-streamed on social media, the man admits to the horrible crime after the woman reveals her daughter told her he touched her.
“So what the f**k was you thinking?” she asks him. The man responds back to her: “I wasn’t.”
The angry and devastated mother continues telling the man how much she trusted him with her child and was planning on marrying him.
“You got a grown-a** woman willing to marry you and you are touching my child. A 12-year-old child!” she says in the video.
Throughout the video, the man stands there in shame and really doesn’t have a lot to say about his actions.
He eventually apologies to the woman and tells her he wasn’t thinking and made a huge mistake.
“I’m sorry,” he said. “I don’t know what I was thinking. I don’t know why I did it.”
The man even tries to apologize to the woman’s daughter which only escalated the confrontation further.
“Lacey I apologize to you,” the man shouts out to the child, who appears to be off-camera in another room in the home.
The woman responds angrily, telling him not to speak to her daughter ever again.
“Don’t say sh*t to my child. Your apology is not accepted. F**k you,” she says to the man.
The man continues to try to apologize to the child in the video and admits he can’t take back what he did.
“It’s nothing I can say or do to undo what I already did,” he says to the woman.
At the end of the video, the mother gets so angry at the man that she physically starts to attack and beat him around the house.
Another woman comes out of nowhere and tries to break up the fight until the mother kicks the man out of the home.
No word yet on whether the man has been arrested by authorities.
It’s sad, especially during a time like this, that you have people out here touching on little kids. SMDH.

Controversial Louisiana pastor Tony Spell was arrested Tuesday on a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he was seen on video appearing to attempt to run over a protestor with a bus outside his church.
Pastor Spell—who heads Life Tabernacle Church in Central, Louisiana—turned himself in to police custody Tuesday morning (Apr. 21). The building is closed due to COVID-19, so the arrest was made in the parking lot, WAFB 9 News reported.
Central Police said Spell allegedly backed a church bus into the direction of a man protesting in front of his church on Sunday (Apr. 19), and the incident was captured in video footage from security cameras across the street.
“At first I thought he [Spell] was just turning around his bus and was going to pull away, but he just kept coming in reverse,” the protester, Trey Bennett, said.
Video of the incident shows the bus coming to a complete stop right before hitting the protester.
“I could see him [Spell] driving the bus. He was honking his horn loudly at me and making gestures suggesting he was yelling while he was driving. It didn’t seem real until it was physically in my face with a bus,” Bennett said.
Spell admitted to being behind the wheel of the bus, but he said he wasn’t trying to run the man over and simply wanted to talk to him.
“That man has been in front of my church driveway for three weeks now,” Spell told WAFB 9. “He shoots people obscene finger gestures and shouts vulgarities.
“I was pulling in from my bus route, picking up black children who haven’t eaten because of this sinister policy that has closed schools … I was going to approach this gentleman and ask him to leave.”
The protestor denied using profanity or showing obscene gestures and said he’s been peacefully protesting in front of the church since Easter Sunday.
“I haven’t done anything of the sort. I just stand there with a sign. I don’t say anything to anybody,” Bennett said, adding that he holds several different signs as he protests.
One of his signs reads: “CAUTION: Coronavirus incubator. Do not enter. You may die.”
Bennett said he just wants Pastor Spell to stop jeopardizing the health of the community by continuing to hold large church services.
“Just trying to raise awareness so that people will demand that this place [Life Tabernacle] gets closed down,” Bennett told WAFB.
Pastor Tony Spell has been in the news a lot over the past few weeks, thanks to him continuing to hold in-person church services in defiance of Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards’ order issued in March that prohibits gatherings of more than 10 people during the coronavirus pandemic.
Pastor Spell even had a huge church service on Easter Sunday and one photo from the service (above)—which was reportedly attended by 1,300 people—shows members clearly not practicing basic social distancing. Parishioners were seen holding hands, standing shoulder-to-shoulder, etc.
An elderly member of Spell’s church has since died of coronavirus and his attorney also contracted the virus.
Three sisters from Detroit are making headlines after they all recently died from coronavirus in less than a month.
The family of the sisters are heartbroken over their passing due to the deadly virus.
According to one of the women’s daughter, Sylvia Taylor, the sisters all died within a three-week period.
Taylor was the daughter of Janie Giger. She says losing her mother and two aunts back-to-back has been extremely hard on her.
“It’s been really hard. Just imagine that the three of them are no longer there … It’s like you’re in a fog and you’re gonna wake up, and it’s not gonna be true,” Taylor told WWJ Newsradio 950. “Nobody’s gonna call and say, yes, she’s gone too, and then yes, now she’s gone too.”
Taylor went on to add: “You know, all three of them, just bam, bam, bam. They’re just gone. It’s been hard.”
The three sisters were said to be the last of their 11 siblings.
Taylor said that one of her aunts died first in late March.
“When my sister took Mama to the hospital they said, well we’ll take her, but you can’t come in. And that even hurts worse…Like, hey, I’m just dumping her? I guess that’s how they do things because of this coronavirus,” Taylor told WWJ Newsradio 950’s Vickie Thomas.
Shortly after her aunt’s passing, Taylor’s mother Janie Giger fell ill with the virus and died. Giger’s youngest sister died the very next day after the funeral.
Taylor is urging people to take the virus seriously and realize that it can affect anyone.
“I think they need to take it serious,” she said. “They need to think about themselves, and not even thinking about themselves, how about the people around you? They’re saying that you could be asymptomatic, but that doesn’t mean that you’re not carrying the virus and you still could infect somebody.”
Dozens of people in Brooklyn, New York got in trouble with the law this past weekend for totally disregarding the state lockdown and orders for social distancing.
Authorities responded to and shut down an underground party being held at a barbershop on Saturday.
Spectrum News NY1 reports that the incident took place at Envee Barber Shop on East 88th Street and Avenue L in Canarsie Saturday night.
When officers arrived on the scene over 50 people were inside the barbershop partying to music blasting in the basement of the business.
Officers ordered all attendees to exit the party one-by-one and they were searched, cuffed and ordered to sit on the sidewalk. They were also said to have been kept at least six feet away from each other while sitting on the sidewalk.
Sixty summons were issued to the partygoers and two people were arrested on gun charges. A gun was also confiscated at the party.
One man who attended the party took to social media and claimed that he was a cameraman and that the large number of people were there to shoot a music video. NYPD, however, has denounced this as a false claim and say that the party had no purpose.
NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio praised police for breaking up the party and also enforcing social distancing.
“Police are absolutely doing the right thing to break it up,” he said during a press conference. “We’re going to keep breaking things up, if people need to get summonses to get the message, we’re going to do it. And remember also in terms of the guns they picked up policing goes on, they fight to always protect public safety goes on.”
The state of New York has had over 13,000 deaths and 240,000 known cases due to the novel coronavirus.
On March 21st, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo ordered the closure of barbershops, beauty parlors and nail salons to help limit the spread of COVID-19.
Did Cam Newton accidentally reveal he’s quarantining with his rumored new baby mama?
The NFL quarterback has been following stay-at-home orders due to COVID-19, and based on his social media posts, he’s been passing the time by working out and spending time with some close friends.
However, in a recent Instagram video, it seems he’s one of the close friends he’s been quarantining with is IG model La Reina Shaw—who reportedly gave birth to Newton’s fifth child last year.
The video shows Newton playing spades and bragging about his books. Shaw is then clearly seen sitting across the table from him as the camera pans the room.
Back in January, we reported that Shaw had allegedly given birth to Newton’s fifth baby over the summer, and this was cause of his break-up with longtime girlfriend Kia Proctor.
Proctor is the mother of Newton’s four confirmed children, with their youngest being born just last October, meaning Proctor and Shaw were pregnant at the same time.
Though neither a relationship nor a baby between Newton and Shaw has been confirmed, Shaw did recently give birth to a baby and lives in the apartment above Newton’s Atlanta restaurant.
The two have also been spotted together in recent months.
Newton and Proctor are currently battling over custody of their kids and money. Newton wants joint custody, while Proctor is seeking full custody of all four kids since they now live in different states.
Proctor also accused Newton of failing to comply with a settlement agreement the two had made shortly before their youngest child was born.
Based on her social media posts, Proctor is quarantining with the kids while Newton is (allegedly) cozying next to Shaw.
A young, Karen in training who appeared to have trouble minding her business while scrolling through Twitter one day caught a lot of heat on the platform after she called herself “introducing” black people (women in particular) to Sally’s website to use as an actual resource during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Black Americans are already dealing with enough thanks to coronavirus (aka “The Rona”). Not only are we losing our siblings, friends, parents, aunts/uncles and cousins to this virus at a higher rate than our melanin-deficient counterparts, but we’re also getting kicked out of Walmart by actual police officers for wearing the same face masks health officials are urging us to wear out in public to protect ourselves and others (emphasis on others).
And now black people are being told by white people where to shop to get their haircare products. Or at least by one white girl in particular. A young white woman who happens to be a Taylor Swift fan.
A hilarious Twitter thread has gone viral showing a play-by-play guide of what happens when folks don’t mind the business that pays them … especially when it comes to black women and their hair.
A black woman lamenting about not being able to shop for proper haircare products due to beauty supply stores that cater to people of color being closed because they are considered “non-essential” took to Twitter to express her grievances.
“I hate this “non essential business” stuff,” use @Nomastaywoke (Megan Thee Socialist) tweeted. “The beauty supply store is essential to me!!! TO ME!!!!!!”
I hate this “non essential business” stuff. The beauty supply store is essential to me!!! TO ME!!!!!!
Any other person with the good sense would probably just scroll past that tweet if it didn’t apply to them (see: “essentially to me!! TO ME!!”), but not this one white girl, in particular, seemed to be trying to be crowned 2020’s “Young Karen of the Year.”
She said in a VERY condescending tone: “ sallybeauty.com there’s this thing called online shopping.. they ship things to your house… it’s pretty cool…”
https://t.co/wajG5sxzx3 there’s this thing called online shopping.. they ship things to your house… it’s pretty cool…
Lemme stop you right there, Baby Karen (And we say “Baby Karen” because Adult Karen would NEVER). Neither Sallybeauty.com nor their brick-and-mortar stores are for black women or men, which is why traditional “beauty supply” retail outlets that strictly cater to the black demographic exist.
Just take a look at Sally’s homepage. We judge whether or not we can shop from your company from your website/app’s homepage alone. And ain’t no black people or products above the fold on this homepage:
We not coming to see Sally, and Sally apparently ain’t checking for us either.
Unfortunately, there aren’t any widely known apps or websites for US to get OUR beauty supply needs, so, for the moment, WE are unable to get certain supplies WE need to tend to our hair, hence @Nomastaywoke’s tweet.
That’s an issue that can possibly be solved in the interim, however, since we’re talking about right now, “Sally’s Beauty Supply” simply ain’t it.
From there, Lil Karen’s mentions proceeded to dive further into shambles as Black Twitter hilariously let her know that (number one) she was not welcome in our space and (number two) Sally’s ain’t got even a lil bit of nothing for us, so bye, and (number three) see numbers one and two again.
The collective dragging was so brutal that she ended up changing her username. And all she really had to do was just sit there and eat her food and none of this would have ever happened.
I saw this on FB and teleported over to Black Twitter to join in the petty lol! Sallie ain’t for black folk. The only Sallie we know is Sallie Mae and that’s just because we have no choice but deal with that Sallie.
The woman who accused The Game of sexual assault and was awarded $7 million is going to get her money one way or another … but The Game says not on his watch!
According to court documents obtained by All Hip Hop, Priscilla Rainey has been granted ownership of The Game’s independent record label, L.A. Prolific Records, and all royalties from his 2019 album, Born to Rap.
This essentially means that Rainey will receive any income the rapper earns from the label and album in an effort to finally receive the damages she was awarded back in 2016, which Game has refused to pay at all.
The court documents state in part:
Any and all rights, title, and interest of Defendant in any money, property, or payments due to Defendant from LA Prolific, in the form of, among other things, commission, royalties, contract receivables, deferred compensation, income, wages, payroll, salary, and accounts receivable. Failure by Defendant to comply with this Order may subject him to contempt of Court proceedings …
It’s further ordered that all third parties who receive notice of this Order are directed to pay any and all money or property due, or to become due, under this Order, directly to Plaintiff either: (1) by check payable to “Priscilla Rainey,” and delivered to Plaintiff’s counsel … until and to the extent necessary to pay the Judgement in full.
Rainey accused Game of sexual assault during the 2015 filming of his VH1 reality show, She’s Got Game. She alleged he forcefully put his hand in her dress and rubbed her bare vagina and buttocks.
Despite the new court ruling, Game still seems unbothered and hellbent on not paying Rainey. He wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post:
“People out here dying from the rona… n blogs out here creating false narratives for this Waffle House roach who doing anything her thirsty a** can to try n take money from me.”
“I’m enjoying retirement!! Y’all been saying she got 7 million for 7 years & yet here I am, laid up tipsy off my 5th quarantine watching Tiger King lol,” he continued.
“They’ll find Carol Baskin’s husband before she ever get a penny from under my car seat.”
And as for the Born to Rap album, Game’s manager Wack 100 claims that he owns the album’s royalties, not Game, and he hasn’t been involved in the lawsuit.
“Last time I checked #Wack owned all royalties to born to Rap,” he wrote. “And I don’t owe the b*tch a dime.”
Imagine looking forward to receiving free money from the government amid a financially devastating global pandemic only to find out that you won’t be getting a dime (or your check will be significantly reduced) because your spouse owes child support.
That’s exactly what happened to a number of married women all over the United States, based on a number of social media posts we’ve seen since last week when coronavirus stimulus checks were first issued.
A number of women who married men who had children by other women took to social media last week angry that most, if not all, of the money they were supposed to receive was taken to pay their husband’s child support debt.
It was already known that those who owed child support would not be receiving CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security) Act stimulus checks if they owed more than $1,200 … or whatever they owed would be taken from the $1,200 (plus the $500 for each child).
However, most people assumed that would only apply to their spouse.
Many women were surprised to find out that THEIR checks were taken as well, even those that have in the past been approved for injured spouse relief, which is reserved for taxpayers who have lost some or all of their tax refunds due to their spouse’s solely owed debt.
“I filed injured spouse and they still took my money for my husband’s debt,” one woman shared. “Completely pissed.”
Another woman who felt her pain wrote: “Same! I’m so mad right now. Like this money is to help people struggling from this pandemic. Student loans and IRS debts weren’t [affected] so they shouldn’t have done to us.”
That same woman said in a follow-up comment: “I’m all for my husband needing to support his other child, no doubt he made her he should pay for her, but this money was not meant for that.”
And it’s not just currently married women dealing with this issue either. Uncle Sam seems to have even snatched COVID-19 relief funds away from divorced women as well.
“I was married and had to file an injured spouse claim the 2 years we were married because he owed a huge amount of child support,” said one mother. “We are divorced now and mine and my 9-year-old daughter’s stimulus check went to pay his old child support debt. Now we have nothing.”
Said another: “I had to file an injured spouse form due to my husband owing back child support. Now they have taken my entire stimulus as well. Is there no help for mothers and children? My children are not his, I do not owe his debt. Yet my 10 year old child’s money was taken for his debt!”
Meanwhile, House Democrats have proposed two new stimulus packages that will help Americans on a monthly basis instead of just one check.
One proposal (Emergency Money for the People Act) would provide Americans over the age of 16 with a $2,000 monthly check for up to 12 months, while another, called the Mortgage Cancellation Act, would cancel rent and mortgage payments through the duration of the coronavirus pandemic.
A 5-year-old Michigan girl who complained to her parents of a headache a month ago has died after contracting coronavirus.
According to The Detroit News, Skylar Herbert’s parents—who are both Detroit first responders—took her to a pediatrician on March 23rd after she started complaining about a headache that wouldn’t go away even with pain meds.
After testing positive for strep throat, Skylar was sent home with antibiotics.
“She had been crying all night and saying the headache would not go away,” said Skylar’s mom, LaVondria Herbert.
“We called the doctor back, and they told us that it takes the medication 48 hours to kick in and to give it some time, but because she was crying so bad, I told my husband we needed to take her to emergency because I just didn’t know.”
Herbert said she and her husband then took Skylar to Beaumont Royal Oak, where she was tested for COVID-19, the results of which came back positive the next day. It was at that point that doctors determined that Skylar’s headache and mild fever were side effects of the virus.
Skylar was released from the hospital the next day, but the family went back to the hospital just six hours later because her father, Ebbie Herbert, started showing symptoms of the virus.
“We went back to emergency at the Beaumont Hospital’s Farmington campus because I noticed my husband was coughing and having shortness of breath,” Mrs. Herbert said. “Me and Skylar waited in the car, but out of nowhere, Skylar began complaining about her head hurting again and then she just threw up.”
Mrs. Herbert said she took Skylar’s temperature, which was around 100 degrees, and wrapped her up in blankets because she’d started shivering. Soon after, she had a seizure.
At that time, Skylar’s father had just walked out of the emergency room and quickly went to console her.
“(I told her) Skylar, look at your daddy, Skylar, look at your daddy,” Mr. Herbert said. “She came out of the seizure and me and her mother ran back into the emergency room.”
Skylar was then admitted to a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit where her family was told that she had developed meningitis and brain swelling, a rare complication of the coronavirus.
While Skylar was being treated, she initially started showing signs of improvement, like not complaining about having headaches and being able to get up to use the bathroom.
The next day, however, her condition quickly deteriorated and she was put on a ventilator.
“I would whisper in her ear and say, ‘Skylar, hold your leg up. Just think about it really hard and hold your leg up.’ And with my assistance, she did,” LaVondria said of her only child.
But Skylar never opened her eyes again. On Sunday (Apr. 19), after spending two weeks on a ventilator, the Detroit girl died.
“We decided to take her off the ventilator today because her improvement had stopped, the doctors told us that it was possible she was brain dead, and we basically just knew she wasn’t coming back to us,” Mrs. Herbert said.
A spokesman for Beaumont Health said in a statement about Skylar’s death: “The loss of a child, at any time, under any circumstances, is a tragedy. We are heartbroken that COVID-19 has taken the life of a child. We extend our deepest sympathy to Skylar’s family and all others who have lost a loved one to this virus.”
Skylar is the first child to die of coronavirus in Michigan. Before her, the youngest person on record to die after testing positive for the disease was 20 years old, according to the Michigan Dept. of Health and Human Services.
Skylar’s parents say they have no idea how she contracted the virus, as she’s been in the house for weeks and had no prior health issues. Her father’s test for the disease came back inconclusive, despite his symptoms.
As of Monday morning (Apr. 20), Michigan so far has over 31,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 2,391 deaths. Detroit City has reported 7,604 of those cases and more than 600 deaths.
At least 40% of coronavirus deaths in Michigan are Black residents, and the number is even higher for Detroit—at least 76%, The Detroit News reported.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued her “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order on March 23rd and now says she’s looking at strategic ways to reopen the economy, however, the state’s lack of virus testing supplies is making that difficult.
While a number of residents have expressed anger over Gov. Whitmer’s stay-at-home order, with some even going as far as staging a massive protest at the Capitol in Lansing last Wednesday (Apr. 15), Skylar’s parents are supportive of the governor’s efforts to save lives.
“I want to say thank you to the governor for making people go home,” LaVondria said.
LaVondria and Ebbie Herbert both work in public safety. LaVondria has been an officer with the Detroit Police Department for 25 years, while Ebbie has been a Detroit firefighter for 18 years.
