WATCH: Disney Releases First Full-Length Trailer for “The Lion King”

After putting out a short teaser five months ago, Disney has released a brand new full-length trailer for “The Lion King,” one of four of their live-action adaptations set to be released this year.

The latest trailer gives a more in-depth look at how the characters and the storyline will look in CGI, resembling the approach Jon Favreau used in the 2016 remake of “The Jungle Book.”

Voices from the iconic characters can also be heard in full, provided by a star-studded cast including Donald Glover (Simba), Beyoncé (Nala), Seth Rogan (Pumbaa), Billy Eichner (Timon), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar), John Oliver (Zazu) and James Earl Jones (Mufasa).

Based on the latest trailer, it looks like the film will follow the plot from the 1994 classic scene-by-scene, which, at the time of its release, was the highest-grossing animated film of all-time, generating nearly $1 Billion worldwide.

“The Lion King” remake hits theaters on July 19th, 2019.

Pastor John Gray Criticized for Wearing $4K Sneakers in Pulpit: “Jesus Walked Around in Sandals”

The Instagram account “PreachersNSneakers” is just a little over two weeks old, but it has already amassed a following of more than 100K people who want to see what sneakers their favorite preachers are rocking on their feet.

The account, started by a man who goes by the alias Tyler Jones, shares images of celebrity pastors juxtaposed with a closeup of their footwear and the price tag of the kicks.

Featured on the pages are a number of famous celebrity preachers (i.e. preachers who have turned teaching the word of God into a profitable business outside of the church) including Rich Wilkerson Jr., who officiated Kim and Kanye’s wedding, Judah Smith, a friend of pop superstar Justin Bieber, and John Gray, who is an author, paid speaker and reality TV star whose show appears on Oprah’s OWN network.

Pastor John Gray previously faced controversy after he purchased his wife a $200K Lamborghini, which put Gray in the awkward position of explaining that his personal finances are separate from the finances of the church he leads in Greenville, South Carolina.

Speaking of that church, Pastor Gray recently requested donations from his congregation to fix the building’s 15-year-old roof that’s in bad shape.

One photo posted on the account shows Pastor Gray wearing a pair of Air Yeezy 2 Pure Platinum’s, which are worth just under $4,000.

Another photo shows Gray rocking an all-red pair of Air Yeezy 2 Red October’s, which retail for over $5,600.

Naturally, anyone who has ever paid tithes at church is bound to question why a person leading a congregation is wearing thousand-dollar shoes.

And Pastor Gray isn’t the only famous preacher on the account wearing expensive sneakers … which is where “PreachersNSneakers” comes in.

In fact, the account sometimes goes beyond sneakers.

One post shows Los Angeles preacher Chad Veach wearing close to $3,000 worth of clothes in one outfit alone.

We’ll let Yahoo! Lifestyle take it from here:

According to Jones, he realized the account started to become bigger than a joke between friends when Chad Veach, founder of Zoe Church in Los Angeles, changed his Instagram handle (from @chadcveach to @chadveach) after responding to a post that pointed out a $1,980 Gucci backpack and a pair of $794 Rhude track pants that he was wearing.

“Wanna know what’s crazy? I legit did not pay for one thing i am wearing [sic]. Is that wild to you? that’s wild to me… Thanks for the shout out tho. You’re a blessing,” Veach said in a comment, which was deleted before Jones had time to respond.

“I’m not trying to cause a division; me and him both believe inherently the same things. I just think that if you’re in church you should know how your pastor is spending the money,” Jones, who said he thought he understood church salaries, as his wife works for a church, said of the short-lived social media confrontation.

And while Jones himself doesn’t troll his subjects, plenty of commenters do. Some choice quotes include:

“The lord Jesus walked around in sandals. Somebody photoshop some of these on Jesus.”

“Is it sad that he wears shoes worth as much as I paid for my car?”

“That’s more than my mortgage…”

“I keep thinking about how people from my church would go on about how you shouldn’t give money to homeless people because they might not spend it responsibly…”

Jones was inspired to create the account after he looked up a song by the band Elevation Worship and noticed the lead singer was wearing an expensive pair of Yeezy 750 Boost sneakers, retailing for up to $1,800.

Armed with his two passions, Christianity and sneaker culture, he started to browse popular pastor accounts that he was already following on Instagram and began to document the instances where he recognized designer gear.

Jones voiced concern to Buzzfeed over the trolls who were inspired to go after these Christian leaders, but he still feels strongly that this is a discussion that needs to be had.

“I’ve had hundreds of pastors and people in ministry message me like ‘Thank you, keep doing what you’re doing. It’s prompting a discussion around what leadership and stewardship look like within the church,'” Jones told Fashionista.

“Somebody called me a hypocrite today and said that I was causing disunity within the church. But I’ve been pretty intentional to leave it relatively open-ended,” he said, alluding to the fact that Jones never outwardly criticizes these leaders and what they choose to wear. In fact, some pastors see it as Jones hyping them up and have asked to be featured on his page with their own look.

As for what Jesus Christ himself would wear if his second-coming occurred in 2019? Jones told the outlet, “I think he’d probably be wearing some open-toe Birkenstocks on a standard day. Then maybe if he was hanging around the house he’d be wearing some Air Max 1s that he bought from the outlet.”

To be honest, it’s none of our business how these preachers spend their personal money … as long as that money isn’t coming from funds meant for the church.

But maybe they should chill on wearing $4,000 sneakers in the pulpit? Just a thought.

Scalpers Are Selling Tickets to Nipsey Hussle’s Funeral Online for $500

It’s a sad fact, but we live in a world where people will try to make money off of ANYTHING … including funerals.

Free tickets for Nipsey Hussle’s public memorial service to be held Thursday (Apr. 11) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles were made available early Tuesday morning, but were gone within 10 minutes.

AXS, the company providing the tickets through their website, made it clear that ticketholders must be California residents and were only allowed four tickets per household.

But those stipulations didn’t stop scalpers from selling tickets online for anywhere from $100 – $500 a piece on the secondary market via sites such as Craigslist and OfferUp.

AXS said those attempting to pay to attend Nipsey’s funeral should beware because the tickets are being distributed through the company’s mobile app and are non-transferrable.

The company also told TMZ they were working hard to remove listings on Craigslist and other secondary selling websites.

Nipsey’s memorial will begin at 10 a.m. sharp Thursday morning, and people traveling in groups must enter together, AXS said.

Nipsey Hussle was gunned down outside his The Marathon clothing store in Crenshaw. His alleged killer, Eric Holder, was charged with murder and pleaded not guilty.

Ella Mai Shades the Hell Out of Jacquees on Twitter, Says Nobody Knows His Music

Ella Mai is not here for Jacquees and his karaoke antics.

During Drake’s “Assassination Vacation Tour” concert at London’s O2 Arena Tuesday night (Apr. 9), opening act Tory Lanez brought out Jacqueees to perform.

But the self-proclaimed King of R&B didn’t perform his own music. He performed his controversial remix to Ella Mai’s “Trip.”

In case you’re not familiar with the story … Jacquees regularly remixes songs under the name “Quemix,” and he released his version of Ella Mai’s hit single on YouTube and Soundcloud last September.

Jacquees’ version of “Trip” quickly became a fan favorite and racked up millions of streams before it was pulled due to a copyright claim from Ella’s label, 10 summers, which is owned by DJ Mustard.

Mustard, who also produced the song, called out Jacquees for profiting off “Trip” because his YouTube video was monetized and made it clear that he was the one who took the song offline, and not Ella Mai.

“Our artists don’t send cease and desists, we do,” Mustard said in a statement via Twitter. “When you monetize content you don’t own you are stealing and no one steals from 10 Summers. Ella had no say in the matter and any platform reporting any differently is spreading falsities.”

In an interview with Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning” in October, Ella reiterated Mustard’s assertion that she was not personally responsible for the song being taken offline.

“I don’t play any role. My label made a statement … I don’t want people to think different than the actual situation is,” she said. “People don’t actually know the real ins and outs of the industry.”

In December, Jacquees said in an interview with “The Breakfast Club” that there was no love lost between him and Ella Mai.

“It’s all love at the end of the day,” he said. “I ain’t trippin’.”

Fast forward to April, and Ella Mai is letting it be known that she’s not done “trippin” over Jacquees singing her song.

After catching wind of Jacquees’ performance Tuesday night, Ella Mai took to Twitter to shade the Cash Money singer.

“I’d be so embarrassed if someone brung me on stage and the only thing I could sing was someone else’s song because nobody knew my actual music,” she tweeted. “Poor thing.”

Even though she didn’t mention any names or @ Jacquees directly, fans quickly realized who she was talking about and caught the shade immediately.

43-year-old Orlando Moore and 32-year-old Portia Ravenelle were supposed to catch a flight back to the United States on March 27th, but never returned.

Officials said the couple checked out of their hotel the evening of March 26th, but never made it to their 2 a.m. flight.

The white Kia the couple was renting was also never returned, and their vehicle remained unclaimed at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.

Cheryl Freeman, a woman from Canada who was one of the last people to see Moore and Ravenelle alive, said she and her boyfriend became fast friends with the couple after meeting them the day before their disappearance.

“They were very sweet people,” Freeman told CNN. “Orlando is so friendly he could make friends with anyone.”

Freeman said her boyfriend sent an e-mail to Moore wishing them a safe flight, but never got a response. They didn’t realize their vacation buddies were missing until they arrived home in Canada and saw several worried emails from Ravenelle’s family.

On Tuesday (Apr. 9), fishermen reported to police that they had found a car in the water near where the couple would have been driving, according to the Dominican Republic newspaper Diario Libre.

Police reportedly recovered a decomposing body they believe was Moore’s. A woman with severe trauma to her body was also taken to the hospital and died four days later, according to the Diario Libre report.

Investigators are working to determine whether the fingerprints from the two bodies match the couple’s.

Dwyane Wade’s 11-Year-Old Son Zion Surrounded by Love & Support During Gay Pride Event in Miami

It was a family pride affair for the Wade clan. Dwyane Wade’s son, Zion, had much support from his family as he attended an LGBTQ pride march over the weekend.

Donned with pride gear, the 11-year-old, along with his cool stepmother Gabrielle Union, rode a float during the annual Miami Beach Pride event on Sunday (Apr. 7).

Union chronicled the experience with photos and video on Instagram.

Dwyane was, unfortunately, unable to join his family because the Miami Heat had a game in Toronto. However, the proud papa showed much love and support on social media.

“We support each other with pride!” Wade wrote on IG stories featuring a photo of his son and wife.

Zion came through with an entourage, too.

Dwyane reposted another pic acknowledging his son’s “cheering section” in his absence. “Wish I was there to see you smile kid,” he wrote, adding a rainbow flag emoji.

Among the cheering section was Zion’s baby sister, Kaavia, and 17-year-old brother, Zaire.

“Love you lil bro no matter what,” Zaire wrote on Instagram with a photo with his brother. Dwyane shared the same photo with the caption: “It’s a family thing.”

Now that’s what we love to see.

Good Samaritan Shot & Killed After Paying for Meals & Handing Out $20 Bills at Waffle House

Police said a good Samaritan paying for people’s meals and handing out $20 bills at a Waffle House was shot and killed early Monday morning (Apr. 8) after getting into an altercation with a disgruntled woman.

25-year-old Ezekiel Hicks was charged with murder Sunday (Apr. 7) in the death of 41-year-old Craig Brewer, who was fatally shot at a Waffle House restaurant in Gainesville, Florida, just a few miles from the University of Florida.

Witnesses told police “that the victim was paying for meals and giving out money, and that devolved into a verbal and then physical altercation,” Lieutenant Brett Rhodenizer said.

According to The Gainesville Sun, Hicks reportedly confronted Brewer and started an argument with him after a woman he was with got angry because Brewer didn’t pay for her meal.

Hicks then left the restaurant to retrieve a 9mm Glock pistol, Fox35 Orlando reported.

Hicks returned to the establishment, despite protests from a bystander, and started a fight with Brewer that resulted in Hicks shooting Brewer in the head.

“As the fight continued, the suspect took the handgun from his pants and shot Brewer in the head,” a statement from police said.

Alachua County Sheriff’s Office officials said Hicks shot Brewer multiple times and Brewer was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said the encounter, which happened just after 3 a.m. Monday morning, was captured on surveillance footage (screenshot below).

Prior to the shooting, deputies had already been called to the Waffle House to disperse a “large unruly crowd,” but when they got there, they witnessed a murder scene, Lt. Rhodenizer said, adding that the gun Hicks used was found at the scene.

Hicks was arrested near the restaurant and reportedly admitted to the shooting, police said. He’s being held without bail on charges of first-degree premeditated murder and carrying an unlicensed firearm, according to Alachua County Jail records.

Hicks has a criminal history that dates back to 2017 when he faced drug charges, but he avoided jail time after going through a pretrial intervention (i.e. PTI) program.

Waffle House Inc. spokesman Pat Warner said in a statement: “We are saddened by this tragic incident and right now, our first thoughts are with the victim’s family during this most difficult time.”

Boosie Badazz Released From Jail on $3,500 Bond After Arrest for Felony Gun & Drug Possession

Boosie Badazz is a free man after being released from jail today following his arrest for felony gun and drug possession yesterday.

As we previously reported, the rapper was arrested Monday (Apr. 8) in Georgia with his bodyguard after a traffic stop.

Boosie (real name: Torrence Hatch Jr.) and his bodyguard, Antonio Allen, were reportedly pulled over Monday afternoon after an officer observed the White Dodge Charger Boosie was driving swerving in and out of lanes and nearly sideswiping another vehicle.

Sergeant Jeff Bugg with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office said Boosie’s car smelled strongly of weed, and after searching the vehicle, police found a small bag of marijuana and a loaded gun under the passenger seat where Allen was speaking. Police also said they found a bag with over $20,000 cash in it and a vape pen.

Boosie and Allen appeared in court Tuesday morning (Apr. 9) and were released from jail after each posting a $3,500 bond.

Sgt. Bugg told the Newnan Times-Herald that the Charger was a Florida rental but it was in neither Hatch nor Allen’s name.

Hatch and Allen were both charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a schedule one drug, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Boosie was also charged with failure to maintain lane.

According to Sgt. Bugg, Allen also currently has felony warrants in South Carolina for firearm and drug charges.

Boosie spoke briefly with WSB-TV Channel 2 News reporters as he walked out of the Coweta County Jail and said the whole thing was “nothing serious” and “just a misunderstanding.”

New York Couple Worried About Being Mugged Before Vanishing in the Dominican Republic

UPDATE: (APR. 9TH): Two Bodies Resembling Missing New York Couple Found in the Dominican Republic

Original story:

The families of a New York couple are in a frantic search to find their loved ones after they failed to return from a romantic getaway in the Dominican Republic nearly two weeks ago.

Orlando Moore and his girlfriend Portia Ravenelle were expected to return to the States on March 27, however, the couple has seemingly vanished without a trace. It’s been confirmed that they never boarded their scheduled return flight and their phones have been turned off.

“This is definitely not my brother,” Lashay Turner, Moore’s half-sister, told NBC. “He’s not going to run off on a hiatus and don’t tell his family and his daughter. I’m scared, I don’t know what’s going on.”

Moore and Ravenelle checked out of the all-inclusive resort, the Grand Bahia Principe Cayacoa, on the evening of March 26th, but never made it to their 2 a.m. flight.

Their white Kia rental was also never returned. Meanwhile, their personal vehicle remained unclaimed at Newark Liberty International airport in New Jersey.

Canadian Cheryl Freeman may be one of the last people to see Moore and Ravenelle before their mysterious disappearance. Freeman and her boyfriend met the couple on March 25th while having breakfast at the resort. The two couples made plans to spend time together.

“They were very sweet people,” Freeman said. “Orlando is so friendly he could make friends with anyone.”

On March 26—Moore and Ravenelle’s intended final day in the Caribbean—the two couples lounged by the resort pool and went sightseeing.

They also visited a waterfall and went horseback riding. Photos show the foursome enjoying the excursion and drinking from pineapples.

However, throughout the day, Freeman says Ravenelle was nervous about driving around the area by themselves later that night to the airport, which she didn’t realize was 100 miles away.

The rental company had advised her not to roll down their windows for locals because they knew how to spot rental cars and attempt to mug tourists.

The couples finished their night by splitting a bottle of rum at a local disco.

According to Freeman, Ravenelle again “appeared nervous” about the upcoming late-night drive to the airport.

Freeman last saw the couple around 9:30 or 10 p.m. as they went to their room to pack. Freeman’s boyfriend sent an email to Moore wishing them a safe flight, but never got a response.

They didn’t realize their vacation buddies were missing until arriving home in Canada and discovering several emails from Ravenelle’s family.

As of this report, Freeman says she hasn’t been contacted by law enforcement.

Lashay Turner, Moore’s sister, has contacted Dominican Republic authorities, but says she has gotten little information.

However, the Dominican Republican National Police captain confirmed to CNN that they are investigating the couple’s disappearance and are planning to release details to the public.

Turner also contacted the U.S. Embassy and Customs in DR. Her inquiries confirmed Moore and Ravenelle checked out of the hotel, but never caught their flight.

A U.S. Department of State official stated:

“When a U.S. citizen is missing, we work closely with local authorities as they carry out their search efforts and share information with families however we can.

“The welfare and safety of U.S. citizens abroad is one of the highest priorities of the Department of State. We stand ready to provide appropriate assistance to U.S. citizens in need and to their families.”

“When things happen, you always think of the worst, but we are hoping for the best,” Edith Walters, Moore’s grandmother, said.

Chicago Rapper Black Jezuss Reportedly Brain Dead After Getting Shot

Up and coming Chicago rapper Black Jezuss is reportedly on life support and has been declared brain dead after getting shot Monday (Apr. 8).

He wrote: “Tired of losing everyone &everything I love… pray for my brother he brain dead on life support @blackjezuss_

https://www.instagram.com/p/BwBgzIoh8bg/

BlackJesuzz himself was last active on his Instagram account on Saturday (Apr. 6) when he posted to celebrate his latest music video with Trippie Redd for a song called “Stomp” getting 2 million views on YouTube.

It’s unclear whether the rapper has been pronounced dead following a weekend of multiple shootings and fatalities in Chicago.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, 15 people were shot Monday (Apr. 8) alone, three of whom died.

The fatal shootings were described as follows:

A man was killed and another wounded in a shooting in West Englewood, blocks from where six people were shot Saturday at a baby shower. They were standing in the 6500 block of South Oakley around 5:40 a.m. when a vehicle drove by, and someone inside shot at them, the Chicago police said.

Jhanari Robinson, 19, was shot in the head and died at the scene, according to the police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The other man, 22, was shot in his abdomen and treated at the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.

Just before 4 a.m. Monday in South Shore, Earl Taylor, 23, was mortally wounded when he was shot as he sat in a parked vehicle in the 7200 block of South Euclid. A sport-utility vehicle pulled up, and someone inside fired at him, police and the medical examiner’s office said. Struck in the head, Taylor died at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

In Monday’s first fatal shooting, a man died after he was shot five times in Austin on the West Side.

Daquan Conner, 19, was standing on the sidewalk at 12:38 p.m. in the 500 block of North Lamon Avenue when someone shot at him and ran away, according to police and the medical examiner’s office.

Conner was struck twice in the abdomen, twice in the upper thigh and once in the shoulder, police said. He died at Stroger Hospital. The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not released details about the death.

According to his Soundcloud profile, Black Jezuss is 21 years old and was born and raised on the Eastside of Chicago.

He’s best known for his collaborations with Trippie Redd, particularly the 2017 hit record “Stoves on 14th.”

Black Jesuzz said in an interview that Chief Keef inspired him to start a rap career.

Oprah Winfrey Donates $2 Million to Puerto Rico for Hurricane Relief Efforts

Oprah Winfrey is doing more to help Puerto Rico rebuild than President Donald Trump.

Puerto Rico, an unincorporated U.S. territory, still hasn’t fully recovered from getting hit with back-to-back hurricanes in 2017, which severely has impacted the island’s infrastructure.

Nearly 30,000 Puerto Ricans died after Hurricane Maria hit in 2017, just weeks after Hurricane Irma, and residents are still suffering through lack of power, food shortages, little-to-no medical aid, and much more.

But Oprah wants to help change that, and she’s putting her money where her mouth is by donating $2 million to help in aid in hurricane relief efforts for Puerto Rico.

The billionaire media mogul’s donation was announced Monday (Apr. 8) by the Hispanic Federation and the Flamboyan Arts Fund, which was founded last year by Tony Award-winning actor and “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and his family. His parents were born in Puerto Rico and he regularly visits his grandparents there.

Oprah’s $2 million will be split between both of the aforementioned organizations. She said she was inspired to donate to Puerto Rico after watching a performance of Manuel’s “Hamilton” in San Juan earlier this year.

“I was so moved by Lin-Manuel Miranda’s commitment to bring ‘Hamilton’ to Puerto Rico and support the community that served him growing up that I wanted to join in the revitalization efforts of an island so rich in culture, beauty and heritage,” Winfrey said in a statement. “The needs of Puerto Rico and our fellow American citizens following the tragic hurricanes are still very real.”

Meanwhile, Donald Trump continues to bash Puerto Rico for seeking resources to help recover from the hurricanes.

In one tweet, he complained about the costs associated with hurricane relief, using insanely inflated figures and accusing PR officials of corruption with zero evidence.

However, Lin-Manuel Miranda quickly pointed out that the numbers Trump were using were for the estimated cost to repair, and Puerto Rico is still “waiting for most of their allocated relief funds.”

Nipsey Hussle Funeral Tickets “Sold Out” in Just 10 Minutes

Tickets to Nipsey Hussle’s public memorial service went live Tuesday morning (Apr. 9) and were gone in just 10 minutes.

Hussle’s family decided on a public funeral at Staples Center so that his many fans and supporters could pay their respects.

According to TMZ, the complementary (aka FREE) tickets were reserved were California residents only and each household was allocated four tickets max.

Staples Center has even more stipulations for the event itself. Via TMZ:

According to SC … all guests in a group must enter the premise together with their tickets in hand, and everyone will be subject to metal detector screenings and bag screenings.

No backpacks are allowed, nor are bags larger than 14″ x 14″ x 6″. Out of respect for Nipsey’s family, cameras and recording devices won’t be allowed inside the venue either. Non-alcoholic beverages and light snacks will be available for purchase inside.

The service will take place on Thursday, April 11th at 10 a.m. PST and will end around noon. The Los Angeles Police Department will assist with security at the event.

Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed last Sunday (Mar. 31) in front of his The Marathon clothing store in Crenshaw.

Hussle’s alleged shooter, Eric Holder (aka “Shitty Cuz”), pleaded not guilty in the rapper’s murder.

Cardi B is Firm on Her Thoughts About Drugging & Robbing Men: “I’m Gonna Do What the F**k I Gotta Do!”

Cardi B was a keynote speaker at Beautycon (an annual beauty festival in New York City), and while there, she addressed comments she made in an old Instagram Live video that went viral last month.

Cardi was dragged on social media for admitting that she drugged and robbed men who would proposition her for sex back in her stripper days, and was forced to release a statement in response to the viral hashtag #SurvivingCardiB.

She said, in part:

“I never claim to be perfect or come from a perfect world [with] a perfect past. I always speak my truth, I always on my sh*t. I never glorified the things I brought up in that live. I never even put those things in my music because I’m not proud of it and feel a responsibility not to glorify it.

“I made the choices that I did at the time because I had very limited options. I was blessed to have been able to rise from that but so many women have not. Whether or not they were poor choices at the time, I did what I had to do to survive. I have a past that I can’t change. We all do.”

At Beautycon this weekend, Cardi was asked about the situation, and gave this answer as the crowd cheered her on:

“How you gonna pay ya rent? Even with a regular job you can’t pay rent, you can’t pay a f**king room in New York City… Nah, let’s be real, if you have a job that pay you $300 a week … bitch, where you gonna live at with that money? You a college student … where you gonna live at? You can’t even rent a room, so what f**k was I gonna do? I’m gonna do what the f**k I gotta do!”

When the interviewer asked Cardi if she would change anything about her past, Cardi said: “The f**k no!”

A few days ago, Cardi clapped back at a fan who insinuated that she wasn’t a good role model.

“I love you A LOT but I don’t agree with the messages you’ve been sending us young girls,” the follower wrote. “So many of us look at you as a role model and that should send a very loud message.”

Cardi responded: “For these past two years I been watching what I say and I haven’t been myself. I been feeling trap and sad cause it’s not ME but everybody tell me to be it for me to be this “rolemodel” and guess what? People still spit my past right in my face so for now imma be my old self again”

Many of Cardi’s followers had her back.

One person wrote: “Do you. You’re great, intelligent and interesting and that’s plenty for anyone to look up to.”

Another fan said: “Do good, people say trash. Do bad, people still say trash. The best way to survive the world is just do what’s comfortable with you, whoever wants you as a role model should want you for your authenticity, not what everyone else thinks you should be! DO you!”

A third person chimed in, writing: “Young girls can find role models in people in their actual lives. If anything, [they] can appreciate you being unapologetically yourself. Now that’s something to look up to. Be yourself!”

Wendy Williams Explains Viral Walmart Scooter Video: “Do I Look Frail to You?”

Wendy Williams returned from her one-week hiatus swinging.

The talk show host spent the first moments of her show fending off reports that she was looking “frail” while riding a Walmart scooter at 4 a.m. over the weekend.

“One of the best things about being truthful to yourself and truthful to you and having your own show is I can come on and dispel my own rumors. The headline was, ‘Poor, lonely Wendy needs a hug.’ Then it said, ‘She looks frail, she was by herself.’ By herself?”

First reported by Radar Online, several blogs noted Williams’ disheveled look, while eyewitnesses claimed she was “frantic” while shopping.

Williams took over seven minutes of Monday’s show (Apr. 8) addressing the viral moment.

“You know I have the Graves’ disease, where I have pressure by my eyes. Sometimes my eyes go like this. Right? They caught me with an eye pop, also. She was wearing a robe. Yep, a Wendy Show robe. It was 4:00 in the morning in Ellenville, New York. What do you want me to wear? A ballgown?”

The 54-year-old revealed that she went camping in upstate New York with a few supportive girlfriends from the sober house where she’s currently seeking treatment. The group made an early morning stop at Walmart and used the scooters because there were few shoppers.

Williams shared a few details of her camping adventure, including photos of herself riding an ATV and holding .22 shotgun (only for photo op purposes, though).

The gossip queen has typically stayed mum when her own personal life hits the rumor mill.

However, after a nearly two-month hiatus and amid countless rumors regarding her marriage, sobriety, and health, Williams has been opening up to her audience in recent weeks. Last month, she bravely revealed that she’s been living in a sober house seeking professional treatment for past addictions.

“There is such a stigma to substance abuse,” she said on Monday’s show. “Everybody thinks it’s going to be the bum on the corner or whatnot and whatnot… Sometimes you just need to go someplace and get one with your sobriety and your 12 steps.”

R. Kelly Charges Fans $100 for 28-Second Performance & Selfies: “This is How I Got to Get Paid Now”

Before he even arrived for his first paid gig since being released from jail over unpaid child support, R. Kelly was already begging the media to “take it easy” on him.

Ha. Like that was gonna happen!

Kelly—who was recently charged with 10 counts of sexual abuse—left many fans disappointed after a brief paid appearance at Dirty South Lounge in Springfield, Illinois on Saturday night (Apr. 6).

Fans paid $50-$100 to attend the event, only to be underwhelmed as Kelly did the absolute bare minimum and sang for a mere 28 seconds.

According to reports, Kelly arrived at the club around 1:30 a.m. and lingered for about an hour and a half mingling with fans. He was seen smoking cigars, dancing, chatting, and posing for selfies. He took the stage and crooned for a few seconds before ducking out of the club when it closed at 3 a.m.

The Chicago singer took to social media prior to the gig and basically told his followers not to expect too much. “I want the media to take it easy on me, man,” he said. “[T]his is how I got to get paid now.”

“I gotta go do this event and it’s a party. So, if you see me in the club, a couple of drinks in my hand, and chillin’ — please, take it easy.”

Fans initially paid a $100 entrance fee to see Kelly. However, due to low turnout, Dirty South Lounge lowered the fee to $50 after Kelly arrived. Reportedly, only 100 people showed up even though the venue has a capacity of 450.

Fans expressed their disappointment to media outlets covering Kelly’s appearance, stating that it was not worth the money they paid. Some fans revealed they were supporting Kelly because they’re choosing to separate the “accused criminal” from the “artist.”

Kelly’s attorney, Steven Greenberg, put on his PR hat and claimed Kelly’s club appearance was the “aftershow” of a previously scheduled performance that was canceled. Greenberg said in a statement:

“Although the show was canceled the nightclub asked him to still appear. Because a commitment is a commitment he lived up to his, made the 3-hr drive, and appeared. Promoting and pricing were up to the club.”

The embattled singer was recently denied travel to Dubai after his lawyer claimed he was scheduled to perform and meet the royal family. The Dubai government denied any such performances were planned.

Kelly faces felony charges after being indicted on 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving four women. He was jailed in March due to $165,000 of unpaid child support and was released after a friend helped him come up with the cash.

Kelly and his lawyers argue the allegations and legal battles have affected his booking potential and finances.

“Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X is Now the #1 Song in America

Lil Nas X has gone from viral internet sensation to chart-topping artist in a matter of weeks.

Billboard reports that Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” is now the #1 song in the country after leaping from No. 15 to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, dethroning Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings” after eight weeks.

Lil Nas X’s road to Billboard chart success began last December after he dubbed the catchy song over shots from the popular video game “Red Dead Redemption 2” and posted it on YouTube.

“Old Town Road,” which mixes elements of country and hip-hop, quickly became a viral internet sensation, and in March, the song debuted on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip Hop and Hot Country Songs charts, but was later removed from the country chart because Billboard said it didn’t meet the standard of “real” country music.

The general consensus on social media was that Billboard removed the song from the country chart once they realized Lil Nas X was black, which sparked a debate about genre restrictions and race.

As fans called Billboard out for their subtle racism, the song continued to go viral, and eventually scored a co-sign and a feature from Billy Ray Cyrus.

To be clear, the song that is #1 is the SOLO version. The version with Billy Ray Cyrus, which is probably even more popular than its predecessor, won’t make its debut on the Billboard charts until next week.

According to Billboard, Lil Nas X is the first artist unaccompanied by another act to top the Hot 100 chart on the first attempt since Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” spent three weeks at #1 in October 2017.

Lil Nas X is also the first male artist (in a leading role) to top the Hot 100 in a first visit since Desiigner’s “Panda” topped the chart for two weeks in May 2016.

Boosie Badazz Arrested on Felony Drug & Gun Charges in Georgia

UPDATE (Apr. 9th): Boosie Badazz Released From Jail on $3,500 Bond After Arrest for Felony Gun & Drug Possession

Original story:

Boosie Badazz was arrested Monday (Apr. 8) on felony drug and firearm charges following a traffic stop in Newnan, Georgia.

According to the Newnan Times-Herald, Boosie (real name: Torrence Hatch Jr.) was taken into custody after police reportedly found a loaded firearm and marijuana in the car he was driving.

Boosie and another man, Antonio Allen, were reportedly pulled over Monday afternoon after a cop observed the white Dodge Charger he was driving swerving in and out of lanes and nearly sideswiping another vehicle.

Sgt. Jeff Bugg said while speaking with Boosie, he noticed that the car smelled strongly of marijuana.

After searching the vehicle, police found a small bag with approximately 11 grams of marijuana and a loaded 9mm handgun under the passenger seat where Allen was sitting. Police also said they found a bag of cash and a vape pen.

Boosie reportedly admitted to talking on the phone while driving, which would be a misdemeanor in Georgia, and told police that Allen is his bodyguard.

Sgt. Bugg also told the paper that the Charger was a Florida rental but it was in neither Hatch nor Allen’s name.

Hatch and Allen were both charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a schedule one drug, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Boosie was also charged with failure to maintain lane.

Both men are currently being held without bond in the Coweta County Jail.

This is not Boosie’s first run-in with the law. He was sentenced to four years in prison in 2009 on drug and gun charges, and then got caught trying to smuggle drugs into prison and had to serve more time.

In 2010, he was indicted on first-degree murder charges, and spent some time on death row before being found not guilty of murder in 2012.

After spending five years in prison, Boosie was granted an early release on March 5th, 2014 and remained on parole until 2018.

According to Sgt. Bugg, Allen currently has felony warrants in South Carolina for firearm and drug charges.

Bugg said possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charges are pending for both Boosie and Allen.

Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this article said Antonio Allen was a former NFL player for the New York Jets. That was incorrect. This is NOT the same Antonio Allen. The article has been properly updated.

LAPD Investigating Attempted Murder During Nipsey Hussle Vigil After 2 People Were Shot

Just one day after Nipsey Hussle was gunned down outside his Los Angeles clothing store, an attempted murder occurred during a vigil for the slain rapper. The Los Angeles Police Department has been granted a search warrant for security footage they believe captured the vigil shooting.

Two people were shot during the vigil held last Monday (Apr. 1) for Hussle.

One of the victims was shot in the lower back/buttocks. She says she heard a “loud, rapid succession of gunshots from an unknown direction.” The second victim was shot in the elbow.

The LAPD requested surveillance footage that captured the shooting. According to an affidavit obtained by TMZ, “[there is a] surveillance system [that] captured the events leading up to, and after the attempted murder of unknown Victim.”

Authorities requested the search warrant from a judge after several businesses located in the strip mall where the vigil took place refused to give police access to their surveillance footage.

Even Hussle’s The Marathon clothing store failed to comply with the police’s initial request. The affidavit states:

“The Marathon store has been involved in numerous investigations where surveillance video has been deleted by staff/management, prior to police arrival.”

The alleged attempted murder at the vigil incited chaos among those mourning the unexpected loss of Hussle. Video footage shows the crowd panicking and fleeing after a gunfire-like noise.

19 people in total were injured during the stampede. Police initially stated there was no evidence of a shooting.

It’s still unclear how many shooters were involved in the alleged attempted murder.
