Mattel Releases Rosa Parks Barbie Doll As Part of Series Honoring Iconic Women

Rosa Parks is getting the Barbie treatment.

Mattel has added the civil rights activists to its Barbie’s Inspiring Women series. The doll version of Parks will also include educational information about the historical figure so that young kids can learn more about her as they play.

While Parks is not accessorized with her very own bus and a white doll sitting behind her, the doll is sophisticatedly outfitted in a flower-patterned dress with a hat, gloves, glasses, and a coat.

Sally Ride, the youngest and first woman to travel to space was also added alongside Parks. Both dolls are available today (Aug. 26).

“These historical women broke boundaries that made the world a better place for future generations of girls,” a press release from Barbie read.

Lisa McKnight, senior vice president and global head of Barbie, told HuffPost:

“As a brand that is dedicated to inspiring the limitless potential in every girl, Barbie is shining a spotlight on role models, historical and modern, to show them they can be anything. Both Sally Ride and Rosa Parks are changemakers, so these dolls celebrate their achievements, while also encouraging girls to challenge the status quo.”

The Inspiring Women series debuted last year on International Women’s Day. The historical and iconic women already represented in the series include NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson, artist Frida Kahlo, and aviator Amelia Earhart.

Former NBA Player Delonte West Spotted Looking Down and Out in Recent Photo

Former NBA player Delonte West was recently spotted somewhere in the streets looking down and out.

It isn’t clear where the photo was taken (he lives in Maryland), but it’s definitely a never-before-seen image and appears to have been snapped not long ago.

The last time we heard about Delonte West was three years ago in 2016 when fans snapped a series of unsettling photos of him and said he was “wandering around” by himself with no shoes and wearing a hospital robe in a Jack in the Box parking lot in Houston.

When the fan approached him and asked “Are you Delonte West?” the ex-NBA player replied: “I used to be but I’m not about that life anymore.”

Days later, videos surfaced (via Daily Mail) from January 2016 showing him dancing outside a strip mall and yelling at kids at an under 12s’ basketball game.

A few months later, in June 2016, someone snapped a photo of him walking on a road in his hometown of Prince George’s County, Maryland, and fans on social media speculated that he was homeless and begging for money.

West responded to the rumors, saying that they were far from the truth, and he was actually helping a homeless man.

“I was helping a homeless man in my neighborhood that’s paralyzed from [the] neck down,” he said. “I parked my car and got out to help because it was 90-degree weather and I was feeling blessed at the moment for just having legs.”

The Daily Mail reported in 2016 that West, who earned more than $16 million (before taxes) during his NBA career was $150,000 in debt and facing foreclosure on one of his million-dollar homes in Maryland.

At the time, West’s older brother Dmitri also responded to rumors that West is “crazy” or addicted to drugs. He told the Daily Mail:

“Delonte West is not crazy, he is not on drugs. As far as I know, my brother was suffering from bipolar disorder

“I don’t know what exactly is going on in his mind but I can tell you that he is safe and he’s doing OK. My family are trying to get him the best professional help that’s out there, the best that they can afford.

“You can’t put this down to the basketball or money. He is in a great place, he has a beautiful son, a beautiful daughter and a wife that loves him and gives him tremendous support.

“But sometimes he has this illness that just comes upon him. This condition is like a cancer – it can effect anyone, rich or poor, regardless of whether you are an NBA player or a football player.”

Delonte West famously played alongside LeBron James with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2008 to 2010, but his time with the Cavs was marred by rumors that he was sleeping around with LeBron’s mama Gloria James—a rumor he once denied, but later alluded to being true in a feature he did with Vice Sports.

“His middle name is Delonte but I didn’t want to name him Delonte West, Jr. just because of that,” he said about his son’s name.

“I don’t want my son going to school and people making fun of him for something his daddy did. He goin’ to school and ‘didn’t your daddy have sex with LeBron’s mamma?’ I don’t want him to deal with all that man.”

West has been out of the league since 2012 when he played for the Dallas Mavericks. He’s played for a couple of overseas teams and one minor league team since then, but hasn’t touched a professional court since 2015.

Atlanta Lawyer Charged With Murder for Running Over Prominent Real Estate Investor With His Mercedes Lied to Police, Docs Show

The Atlanta attorney who is facing murder charges for using his vehicle to kill a man may have lied to police about his car being hit with a golf ball, court documents show.

Police say on the morning of Tuesday, July 30th, 2019, 47-year-old Bryan Schmitt and 60-year-old Hamid Jahangard, described as a “prominent real estate investor,” got into a violent road rage incident that resulted in Jahangard’s death via Schmitt’s 2011 Mercedes CLS 550.

In his statement to detectives, Schmitt said: “I was driving home northeast on River Valley. Around 5:15, a man was standing by (the) side of road next to trash cans. He made a throwing motion with his arm, and I saw a white object strike my car.”

Schmitt said he then made a U-turn and pulled into Jahangard’s driveway to confront him.

“I rolled down my [window] to ask why he’d throw something at my car. He yelled at me to ‘(expletive)! It’s none of your business!'” Schmitt claimed, according to the court docs.

“When I attempted to pull into the driveway he pushed a trash can at me. I swerved to the right to miss it and ended up hitting a second trash can. When I came to stop, he was lying on the other side of the first trash can.”

In the days following the crash, however, surveillance footage and statements from witnesses told a completely different story.

Via Atlanta’s WSBTV Channel 2 News:

The criminal complaint describes what a detective saw while reviewing footage from a neighbor’s home security system

“Victim walking down driveway, standing at the bottom to the right where the garbage can were. Bryan Schmitt drives by, as he passes the driveway, he hits his brake. Schmitt pulls back up and remains stationary for 25 seconds. Two cars pass him on the wrong side of the road and he quickly makes a left and starts to accelerate. You can’t see impact. Victim Hamid (Jahangard) is slammed to the ground, head bounces twice off pavement and his body is rotating.”

Another neighbor, who identified herself as a nurse, told police that she didn’t see the crash but became very concerned when she saw the driver attempting to pull the victim’s body out from underneath his car. She told him to stop and waited for paramedics to arrive, the complaint confirmed.

“She stated he was lying and that he did not knock him down. He ran over him,” according to the complaint.

Court documents also confirmed Hamid was talking on the phone to his brother when the crash happened.

Manoucher Jahangard told detectives he heard his brother say, “I did not throw anything! I did not throw anything! Get out of my face,” before the line went dead, according to investigators.

Manoucher Jahangard said he “feared the worst” and drove to the scene in the 300 block of River Valley Road. He also told police Hamid Jahangard was waiting on painters to meet him at one of his rental properties when the incident happened, court documents confirmed.

The day after Hamid Jahangard’s death, investigators served a search warrant at Schmitt’s home, where they seized his cellphone. They also informed him Hamid Jahangard had died at a local hospital.

Court documents said detectives were standing in Schmitt’s kitchen when they broke the news to him. “You all sure picked a fine time for this,” responded Schmitt after detectives asked him for his cellphone.

“Yes, we sure did. The victim was taken off life support yesterday (Aug. 1) and is dead,” the officer replied. Schmitt began to shake, according to the complaint.

The medical examiner said Hamid Jahangard’s cause of death was “blunt force injury of the head.” The report also ruled his death a homicide.

According to court records, when Hamid Jahangard arrived at the hospital, doctors discovered a massive skull fracture, swelling on his brain and multiple leg fractures.

Police said they were able to recover a golf ball at the scene, but pointed out that Schmitt was the only person who said the victim threw it at his car, suggesting that he lied about it happening and possibly planted the golf ball himself to corroborate his story.

For what it’s worth, the surveillance footage didn’t show Jahangard throwing the golf ball and witnesses didn’t mention anything about it either.

Police also said there was no damage to Schmitt’s vehicle, so there’s that.

There’s also this (via AJC):

Family members did not find Jahangard’s phone among his possessions after he was rushed to the hospital. According to case documents, one of his daughters tracked the cellphone online and found it was at Schmitt’s address.

When police went to the home after midnight, Schmitt knew nothing about a cellphone. After calling the number and listening for the ring, officers found it lodged under the windshield wiper.

Schmitt’s statements were not consistent with the video evidence, Williams wrote in his report.

“Schmitt’s vehicle plows into the driveway and is not the type of driving for someone to ‘turn around,’ ‘swerve to miss a garbage can,'” he said, referencing Schmitt’s prior claims.

The driveway is 23 feet wide at the bottom, which Williams said was plenty of room for Schmitt to turn around and miss Jahangard completely.

“The speed used to vault the garbage can, lift the front end of his car up and to slam the victim down so hard it causes a massive skull fracture … is not an accident,” he said.

On Friday, August 12th, Bryan Schmitt—with his attorneys by his side—surrendered to police on murder charges.

Schmitt is currently being held at the Fulton County jail without bail and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 27th.

Jahangard was a widower. His wife died from cancer just eleven months ago.

The Jahangards leave behind two daughters in their early twenties who are now orphaned. You can donate to their GoFundMe here.

Donald Trump Suggested Dropping Nuclear Bombs to Stop Hurricanes (Report)

Just when you thought Donald Trump and his crazy ideas couldn’t get any dumber.

Axios is reporting that the Cheeto-in-Chief asked Homeland Security and national security officials multiple times if it would be possible to drop nuclear bombs on top of hurricanes to stop them before they reach the United States.

Trump’s inquiry about using nuclear weapons to stop hurricanes in their tracks was revealed by anonymous sources who were either in the room when Trump made the ridiculous suggestion or had been briefed on a National Security Council memorandum that recorded the comments.

According to one source who attended a hurricane briefing at the White House, Trump said: “I got it. I got it. Why don’t we nuke them? They start forming off the coast of Africa, as they’re moving across the Atlantic, we drop a bomb inside the eye of the hurricane and it disrupts it. Why can’t we do that?”

The source said that the person who’d been briefing Trump on the hurricane situation said something along the lines of “Sir, we’ll look into that,” knowing good and damn well they never planned to do anything of the sort … because HELL NO.

Trump then reportedly asked how many hurricanes the U.S. would be able to handle before reiterating his idea about stopping them before they make landfall.

Axios’ source said the person doing the briefing was shocked, to say the least.

“You could hear a gnat fart in that meeting,” the source said. “People were astonished. After the meeting ended, we thought, ‘What the f**k? What do we do with this?'”

More via Axios:

Trump also raised the idea in another conversation with a senior administration official. A 2017 NSC memo describes that second conversation, in which Trump asked whether the administration should bomb hurricanes to stop them from hitting the homeland.

A source briefed on the NSC memo said it does not contain the word “nuclear”; it just says the president talked about bombing hurricanes.

The source added that this NSC memo captured “multiple topics, not just hurricanes. … It wasn’t that somebody was so terrified of the bombing idea that they wrote it down. They just captured the president’s comments.”

The sources said that Trump’s “bomb the hurricanes” idea — which he floated early in the first year and a bit of his presidency before John Bolton took over as national security adviser — went nowhere and never entered a formal policy process.

When asked to comment on Trump’s suggestion of nuking hurricanes, a White House official told Axios: “We don’t comment on private discussions that the president may or may not have had with his national security team.”

A second White House official defended Trump’s idea, saying the Tanned Tyrant means well and just wants to top hurricanes.

“His goal—to keep a catastrophic hurricane from hitting the mainland—is not bad,” the official said. “His objective is not bad.”

The official continued: “What people near the president do is they say ‘I love a president who asks questions like that, who’s willing to ask tough questions.’

“It takes strong people to respond to him in the right way when stuff like this comes up. For me, alarm bells weren’t going off when I heard about it, but I did think somebody is going to use this to feed into ‘the president is crazy’ narrative.”

Uhhh… YA THINK?!

It isn’t clear where Trump’s interest in using nuclear bombs to disrupt hurricanes came from, but as Axios notes, the idea isn’t entirely a new one.

The notion that detonating a nuclear bomb over the eye of a hurricane could be used to counteract convection currents dates to the Eisenhower era, when it was floated by a government scientist.

The idea keeps resurfacing in the public even though scientists agree it won’t work. The myth has been so persistent that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the U.S. government agency that predicts changes in weather and the oceans, published an online fact sheet for the public under the heading “Tropical Cyclone Myths Page.”

The page states: “Apart from the fact that this might not even alter the storm, this approach neglects the problem that the released radioactive fallout would fairly quickly move with the tradewinds to affect land areas and cause devastating environmental problems. Needless to say, this is not a good idea.”

Thank God Trump doesn’t have as much power as he would like, because we could be in for a world of trouble if he were able to make his idiotic ideas come to life.

Chick-fil-A Customer Arrested After Beating Pregnant Woman Who Tried to Cut in Drive-Thru

A Chick-fil-A customer in Delaware was arrested this weekend after she allegedly beat up a pregnant woman who tried to cut in front of her in the drive-thru lane.

According to Delaware State Police, 19-year-old Jada Blake was waiting in her car in the drive-thru of the popular fast-food chain in the town of Bear Saturday afternoon (Aug. 24) when another customer attempted to pull in front of her.

Police said Blake then “accelerated abruptly” and blocked the other vehicle from moving forward.

Blake then exited her vehicle and confronted the driver of the other vehicle, a 21-year-old pregnant woman, and began hitting her in the head and face through her open window.

The pregnant woman got out of her car, and the fight continued outside, at which point Blake intentionally kicked the victim in the abdomen, knowing that she was pregnant.

When the fight was over, Blake returned to her car and continued waiting for drive-thru service.

Responding officers found Blake still in the drive-thru lane waiting for her food and took her into custody without incident.

The pregnant victim was taken to an area hospital to be evaluated and was said to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Blake was taken to jail and charged with second-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangering, menacing, disorderly conduct, no proof of insurance, careless driving and marijuana possession. She was arraigned and released on $5,103 unsecured bail, police said.

Chris Brown is Having a Baby Boy With His Ex-Girlfriend Ammika Harris

Issa boy!

According to TMZ, Chris Brown’s ex-girlfriend Ammika Harris is pregnant with their first child together, and sources say that the bun in the oven is a little boy.

While the child will be Ammika’s first, he’ll be Chris’s second, as he’s already a father to 5-year-old Royalty, the daughter he shares with Nia Guzman.

As for Chris and Ammika’s relationship status, TMZ’s sources say they currently are NOT together, however, there’s no bad blood between the expectant parents, and Ammika is reportedly “happy with the way Chris is treating her … financially, medically and emotionally.”

BM means “baby mama” and in another photo, Ammika appeared to be showing off a petite baby bump, alluding to the “best birthday gift ever” being her pregnancy.

While neither Chris nor Ammika have publicly commented on the pregnancy, eagle-eyed fans have noticed that Ammika has been wearing baggy clothes that cover her belly in photos she’s recently posted on Instagram.

The baby is reportedly due to arrive sometime in the fall.

R. Kelly Begging Industry Friends to Donate Money to Help Him Pay for Michael Jackson’s Lawyer

R. Kelly is so hard up for cash that he’s reportedly begging his industry friends to donate money so that he can retain the services of defense attorney Tom Mesereau—the guy who successfully defended Michael Jackson in his child molestation case and also got Robert Blake acquitted of murdering his wife.

PREVIOUSLY: R. Kelly Wants to Hire Michael Jackson’s Lawyer to Fight Sex Abuse Allegations, But His Bank Account Won’t Let Him

According to TMZ, Kelly’s industry contacts have “expressed a desire to help” the disgraced singer afford his mounting legal fees, anonymously, of course. However, there’s a huge catch.

No one will agree to donate the funds until Kelly fires his current lawyer, Steve Greenberg, who has called this whole situation “a complete load of crap.”

But, even then, the donations still might not be enough to hire Mesereau because it will take a lot of work to defend Kelly, and the case could end up costing more than a million dollars.

Fans of Kelly have also reportedly inquired about how they can financially contribute.

R. Kelly has a mountain of charges against him for various sex crimes in multiple jurisdictions, including New York Federal, Illinois State, Illinois Federal, and Minnesota State. The singer could also be facing charges in Detroit in Atlanta.

15-Year-Old Girl Escapes Uber Driver Who Planned to Take Her to His House & Rape Her

Police say a teenage girl narrowly escaped being kidnapped and sexually assaulted by her Uber driver, who is now facing a number of criminal charges for his actions.

Long Island authorities said 32-year-old Sean Williams allegedly abducted a 15-year-old girl who was a passenger in his car, WCBS reports.

Investigators said Williams was supposed to take the teen from Long Beach to Merrick on July 12th following a Sweet Sixteen party, but drove her to Brooklyn instead.

Williams was allegedly trying to convince the girl to come back to his house, where he planned to sexually assault her, police said.

“The family of a 15-year old girl relied on a car service to get their daughter home safely after she attended a Sweet Sixteen party, but the defendant allegedly kidnapped her and wanted to sexually assault her after giving her alcohol,” Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas said.

The victim reportedly convinced Williams she had to use the bathroom, and after she was able to get him to pull over, she ran into a McDonald’s and called 911.

Prosecutors said Williams followed her into the fast-food restaurant, but fled the scene before police got there.

“The girl was terrorized by the defendant’s alleged behavior and bravely took action to contact police and free herself,” Singas added.

Williams was charged with multiple crimes, including kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful imprisonment, and kidnapping as a sexually motivated felony.

Williams pleaded not guilty at an arraignment in Nassau County Court Tuesday (Aug. 20), court records show.

He remains free on $150,000 bail while awaiting trial. If convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison.

Williams’ defense attorney, Steven Gaitment, said his client is “distraught” over the allegations and is “adamantly denying the charges.”

Uber released the following statement on Thursday (Aug. 22): “What has been reported is deeply alarming and the driver’s access to the app has been removed. We stand ready to cooperate with law enforcement.”

Mugshot Madness: Kodak Black Protégé Jackboy Arrested After Trying to Swallow Weed During Traffic Stop

Florida rapper and Kodak Black associate Jackboy was arrested in Pompano Beach earlier this week after police say they saw him eating marijuana in a desperate attempt to hide evidence during a traffic stop.

TMZ reports:

Jackboy was arrested Thursday in Pompano Beach … and police say, after they pulled him over for driving around with tinted windows, his BMW sedan reeked of reefer and an officer noticed him chewing something strange.

According to the police report … cops ordered Jackboy out of his whip, and told him to open his mouth, revealing what turned out to be chronic!

After spitting out the saliva-covered sativa, Jackboy was booked for possession of marijuana and tampering with physical evidence.

Jackboy only had a little bit of tree on him, but Florida ain’t California or Colorado … the Sunshine State still takes weed very seriously.

Jackboy is a 21-year-old aspiring rapper who is signed to Kodak Black’s Sniper Gang label.

Coincidentally, Jackboy’s arrest happened the same day Kodak pled guilty in the federal gun case that landed him behind bars a few months ago.

Kodak’s sentencing is scheduled for November 13th, and according to the agreement in his plea deal, prosecutors say they’ll push for a lighter sentence due to him being cooperative throughout the case.

Young Newlyweds Die in Car Crash Just Minutes After Their Wedding

What started out as a day of happiness ended in tragedy after a young Texas couple died in a car crash just minutes after leaving their wedding ceremony.

19-year-old Harley Joe Morgan and his 20-year-old bride Rhiannon Boudreaux Morgan were killed instantly when their car collided with a pickup truck as they were leaving a courthouse and merging onto a highway, KFDM reports.

The groom’s mother and sister were driving behind the newlyweds and witnessed the deadly collision.

“They had just gotten married,” said Kennia Lashawna Morgan, the groom’s mother. “They haven’t even been married for five minutes.”

Harley and Rhiannon were high school sweethearts and got married Friday afternoon (Aug. 23) in the courtroom of Orange County Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 Joy Dubose-Simonton. They planned to have a Christmas wedding on December 20th for their family and friends.

“Those two babies,” Kennia Morgan said. “The only thing that they wanted was to get married and start their life. The two of them had so many dreams.”

Morgan said the memory of watching her son and daughter-and-law die just moments after getting married will stick with her for the rest of her life.

“I watched my baby die,” she said. “I’m still wearing my son’s blood because I was trying my best to rip him and her out of the car.”

“I witnessed my own worst nightmare,” she continued. “That’s an image that will haunt me the rest of my life. I won’t forget it. It will never go away. I will see that truck hit my baby and kill my baby every night of my life, the rest of the time that I’m on earth.”

The Justice of the Peace who married the couple just minutes earlier went to the scene of the death, KFDM reported. The driver of the pickup truck wasn’t injured.

The Orange Texas Police Department said they were investigating the crash.

Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” Remix Featuring DaBaby Has Twitter Divided

Two of 2019’s biggest hip-hop breakout stars, Lizzo and DaBaby, have officially joined forces on the official “Truth Hurts” remix.

As we reported earlier this week, Lizzo teased the collab on Instagram, suggesting DaBaby had something good up his sleeve with the caption: “Why u come fa me like that lmaoooooo.”

“I just took a DNA test, and it told me I’m the realest pretty chocolate n***a out here with some good dick, no cap,” DaBaby raps after Lizzo’s intro.

“And I can have a b**ch from Harvard with a eight-year degree, I probably still would rather pull up with a hood b**ch.”

From there, the Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment CEO talks about how Lizzo’s friends talk trash about him but “still wanna f**k on me too,” and because he feels unappreciated, he wants to “get even,” however, he reconsiders once he realizes “she bigger, I prolly lose in a fight.”

He ends his verse saying he’s still gonna “talk [his] sh*t,” but because he’s “in love with her big fine ass,” he’s gonna “do what she like.”

While some Lizzo fans instantly fell in love with the remix, others decided they could’ve lived without DaBaby’s braggadocious bars.

Georgia Mom Bragged About Her Kids on Instagram Before Killing Them, Then Herself in Murder-Suicide

A Georgia woman is accused of killing her children, then herself, in a suspected murder-suicide just one day after publicly praising them in a social media post.

Cobb County Police said the bodies of 58-year-old Marsha Edwards, her 20-year-old daughter Erin Edwards and 24-year-old son Christopher Edwards Jr. were found inside their suburban Atlanta home Wednesday while performing a welfare check on the family.

Christopher and Erin died of gunshot wounds, and Marsha died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

The day before the suspected murder-suicide, Marsha took to Instagram and gushed about visiting Chris in Miami and traveling to Italy with Erin.

“I’ve had the best summer, first with Chris in Miami, and Erin in Italy,” she wrote. “I could not ask for better children.”

Erin Edwards was a student at Boston University and a former intern for NBC New York, and her brother, Chris Edwards, worked as the digital content manager for the City of Atlanta’s Executive Office of Entertainment.

Marsha Edwards, the ex-wife of prominent Atlanta surgeon and local civic leader Dr. Christopher Edwards, received a medical degree from Louisiana State University of Medicine in Shreveport and was the owner of MME Enterprises, LLC—a supplier of surgical and medical equipment, according to her LinkedIn page.

“Christopher Edwards learned Wednesday of the death of his former wife, Dr. Marsha Edwards, and his two adult children, Christopher Edwards, Jr. and Erin Edwards,” a spokesman for Dr. Edwards said in a statement.

“Dr. Edwards, his extended family and friends are in a state of grief and shock, and privacy of the family is paramount as arrangements are being made.”

The family’s neighbors are shocked about what happened.

“For something like this to happen and unfold, it’s unbelievable,” Talia Cartall told WSBTV. “We didn’t hear anything. There was no sign of violence or anything.”

Cartall said the apparent murder-suicide was especially shocking because, as far as she knew, there was no turmoil within the family.

“From our knowledge, no malice,” she said. “Between the children, nothing like that. They just seemed like a normal, happy, cool family. They were wonderful people, which makes it a lot harder to just understand what went wrong.”

Police haven’t released a motive for the killings and it wasn’t clear who made the welfare request that led to the discovery of the family’s bodies.

First Death Linked to Vaping Reported in Illinois

An Illinois resident who was recently hospitalized with a “severe respiratory illness” after vaping has died, The Illinois Department of Health said in a news release Friday (Aug. 23).

The agency didn’t provide any other information about the patient, including their name or where they lived, however, Illinois Dept. of Health spokeswoman Melaney Arnold said the death is the first in the state that could be tied to vaping.

IDPH’s news release said the number of people who have experienced respiratory illness after vaping has doubled to 22 in the past week.

“Affected individuals have experienced respiratory symptoms including cough, shortness of breath, and fatigue. Some also experienced vomiting and diarrhea,” the release said.

“The severity of illness people are experiencing is alarming and we must get the word out that using e-cigarettes and vaping can be dangerous,” said IDPH Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike.

“We requested a team from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to help us investigate these cases and they arrived in Illinois on Tuesday.”

The IDPH said they are also working with local health departments, as well as officials in other states and the FDA, to look into which types of e-cigarettes were used by those affected.

The CDC said in a news release on Wednesday (Aug. 21) that they were investigating at least 149 possible cases of severe lung illness related to e-cigarette use.

You’re probably wondering about those THC vape pens too now, right?

Via IDPH:

According to the CDC, in many cases, including Illinois, patients have acknowledged to health care personnel recent use of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)-containing products.

However, no specific product has been identified in all cases, nor has any product been conclusively linked to illnesses. Even though cases appear similar, it is not clear if these cases have a common cause or if they are different diseases with similar symptoms.

Officials also warned those experiencing chest pain or difficulty breathing after using e-cigarettes or vaping to seek immediate medical attention.

Nipsey Hussle’s Dying Friend Refused to Tell Police Who Shot Him: “F**k You, Son!”

A severely injured man who was shot on the street in Brooklyn hated police so much that he refused to identify his killer as he lay dying in the back of an ambulance.

28-year-old Arsenio Gravesande—a close friend of Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle (who himself died by gun violence in Crenshaw, Los Angeles back in March)—was shot in the hip in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City Tuesday night (Aug. 20).

Gravesande’s cousin, Bethany Samuels, said she heard the gunshots and ran to the scene, where she found Gravesande squirming on the sidewalk complaining about not being able to breathe.

“The ambulance came and I got in there with him,” Samuels told the New York Daily News. “He was moving around, he was grabbing everything, he didn’t want to stay stabilized. He didn’t want to stay down. He kept telling me, ‘Bethany I’m dead, I can’t breathe, I’m dead.’ I was telling him, ‘No you’re not dead.'”

Gravesande was conscious as he was being rushed to the hospital, but because the bullet apparently struck a major artery, he lost a lot of blood and died not long afterward.

While he was being loaded into the ambulance, police asked Gravesande who was responsible for the shooting, but he refused to give the cops any information, instead, using one of his last breaths to tell officers, “F**k you son!” according to law enforcement sources.

First responders didn’t initially believe Gravesande’s injury was life-threatening, and cops planned to talk to him again once he got the hospital.

“Sometimes, they cool down and talk to us,” a police source told the New York Post. “They have a change of heart and ID the shooter.”

But authorities never got that chance because Gravesande died during surgery.

His cousin speculated that he was lured into an ambush after receiving a phone call telling him to meet someone around the corner from his house.

The young father-of-two walked to the area with two of his friends, and gunshots rang out five minutes later.

“It probably was a setup,” Samuels said. “People just hate you for no reason. It’s crazy.”

Gravesand, who once appeared in a Nipsey Hussle music video, was reportedly a member of the G Stone Crips gang.

He was previously wounded in a 2012 shooting that killed his friend, boxer Trendon Franklin. He had 43 arrests on his record, including resisting arrest, the Post reported.

Samuels confirmed Gravesand’s affiliation with the Crips, telling the Daily News: “He was like the head of them, he controlled them here.”

She clarified, however, that her cousin wasn’t a violent gangbanger and actually did things to help the community.

“He barbecued and did giveaways to the kids,” Samuels said. “He was a good person and did good things for everybody out here. He tried to keep the streets clean. Some people are not in gangs for bad vibes. Some people are in gangs to give away to the community. He never killed nobody, he never hurt nobody. He wasn’t like that.”

Arsenio Gravesande was one of five people across New York City shot to death in a span of 24 hours on Tuesday.

From the NY Post:

The bloodletting began at around 12:30 a.m. in Springfield Gardens, Queens, when Angel Nixon, 18, was riddled with bullets to his head, torso and legs during what sources said was an argument over a loud party.

Later, at around 8:10 p.m., Gregory Haskins, 25, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to his chest on Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens.

And less than an hour after Gravesande was killed, two more men were gunned down in Coney Island. One victim, 38, caught a bullet in the head, while another, 27, was struck in the stomach in a scrap outside a home on West 19th Street, authorities said.

As of late Wednesday, police hadn’t made any arrests in the five shooting deaths, and a motive for Gravesande’s killing hadn’t yet been established.

Jamie Foxx Slams Rumors He’s Dating 21-Year-Old Upcoming Singer Sela Vave & Moved Her Into His House

Jamie Foxx is setting the record straight about his relationship with singer Sela Vave, following speculation the two are dating and rumors that Vave recently moved into his home.

The rumors began last week after Foxx and Vave were spotted holding hands while leaving an LA club. Just days later, it reported that Foxx and Katie Holmes had ended their six-year relationship (which they never officially confirmed).

Vave, 21, was instantly hit with backlash online for allegedly breaking up the couple and using the 51-year-old Foxx for a come up.

On Wednesday night (Aug. 21), Foxx hopped on Instagram Live to defend Vave and explained that she is the latest artist he has taken under his wing, just like he did for Ed Sheeran, Ne-Yo, and Nick Cannon, who all crashed at his crib.

“Everybody comes to my crib, no matter who you are,” he said. “There is a young lady by the name of Sela Vave. I did the same thing with her.”

“People try to make mountains out of molehills. We want to treat her the same way and give her the opportunities.

“I told her it’s going to be this way. It’s a double standard when it comes to women. When it was the guys, everything is cool but when it was the women, they try to make it something else but we are going to try to protect our own.

“…Enough of the unnecessary hate for the woman, just because the guys are coming here and they’re working hard, but when a girl does it, all of a sudden she has an ulterior motive. Stop that sh*t.”

Foxx also explained why he was holding Vave’s hand while leaving Booty Bellows nightclub last week.

“I’m escorting her to my car, to put her in the car—my artist, who hangs out with my kids and is as young as my daughter,” he said, referring to his 25-year-old daughter Corrine Foxx.

“I’m not an old n***a out here with some young folks,” he added.

Vave also shared Foxx’s video and had a message of her own for the haters in the post’s caption.

“For the people who care… here is the TRUE story… for everyone else you can keep talking and calling me a whore, slut, home wrecker, thot, gold digger, that I should die, and whatever else you want.”

The upcoming singer moved to LA earlier this year to pursue her career in music. She had a chance meeting with Foxx and performed an acoustic Beyoncé song for him.

She previously expressed her gratitude for him on social media, accompanied by black and white photos of the two.

“I am so grateful to this man! Thank you so much @IamJamieFoxx for everything you do and for believing in me,” she wrote.

Six Elderly People (5 Men, 1 Woman) Arrested After Getting Caught Having Sex in Public Park

Six senior citizens were arrested in Fairfield, Connecticut after police said they caught them having sex in a public park.

Fairfield police said the six elderly people—five men and one 85-year-old woman—were involved in lewd and sexual activity in the Grace Richardson conservation area in Fairfield earlier this month, NBC Connecticut reported.

According to police, the area the seniors were caught in was advertised in a “City Hookup Guide” as a spot for people to meet up and have sex.

Officers said they were able to catch the seniors and other people in the act after setting up surveillance in the area.

The six seniors arrested are facing a number of charges, ranging from breach of peace to public indecency. They were released on promises that they would appear in court.
