She also released the following statement to Bossip:

I was trending on Twitter, I have been evolving as a young woman and I notice it has been gaining a lot of attention some good and some bad comments, and that is ok because it shows that people care about me and thinking about me and that is good stuff, one of my favorite videos was 4 page letter by Aaliyah so the vision for the video was a take on that vibe , mixed in with who I am as an artist.

I have my “shadow kids” dressed in black, I first introduced them in my “Enemiez video,” they represent my conscience. I love Aaliyah to me she was a true artist in every since of the word and I continue to just be inspired by her and let my heart guide me as always.”

Keke also explained her “Queen of Kush” tattoo in a lengthy post on Instagram.

The Kingdom of Kush or Kush was an ancient African Nubian kingdom situated on the confluences of the Blue Nile, White Nile and River Atbara. (1050/1070 B.C. – 350 A.D.) but at the height of its power in about 700 B.C. the Kingdom of Kush controlled the entirety of Egypt itself with Kushite Pharaohs ruling. What I love most is it’s history’s of female rulers!! In school, we very rarely ever learn about female rules and never about African rulers. Amanirenas was one of the most famous Queens of Kush. She reigned from about 40 B.C.E. to 10 B.C.E. She is one of the most famous kandakes(means queen really but that was the title back then), because of her role leading Kushite armies against the Romans from in a war that lasted five years ? (27 BCE – 22 BCE). She was able to communicate a peace treaty that favoured the Kushites, granting them land and an exemption from future taxation. She has been described as brave, with one eye #MyAncestors
P. S. “Egypt” is a Greek word meaning black, hence the rename when they invaded.

Are you feelin’ Keke Palmer’s new look????

Shocking Video Shows Man’s Head Being Stomped On By Police Officer

A shocking video showing a Chicago police officer stomping a black man’s head during an arrest is quickly making its way around the web.

In the footage, one officer holds the man down on the ground while the other walks up and clearly kicks him in the head, appearing to leave the man unconscious. As several officers arrive to the scene, a crowd of witnesses are seen outraged by the officer’s attack.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjxfPdHVmGQ

According to reports, the 24-year-old man named Shaquille O’Neal (ironically, the same as the former NBA player) was taken by ambulance to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment.

The officer in question, Supt. Eddie Johnson, has been stripped of his powers and placed on desk duty. The Chicago Police Department said in the following statement:

“After careful consideration and reviewing the video footage, Superintendent Johnson decided to relieve one of the officers involved in the incident that occurred on the 3900 block of West Grenshaw of his police powers while IPRA investigates the case. Since his appointment, the Superintendent has stated that accountability begins with him down to the last police officer and that he will tirelessly work to rebuild public trust in the Chicago Police Department.”

O’Neal was arrested after cops said they found heroin in his possession, he bit an officer’s finger, and resisted arrest. Since his arrest, all charges against him have been dropped.

Brenda Lee Marquez McCool, Mother-of-11 & Cancer Survivor, Died Taking Bullets for Son in Orlando Club Shooting

A Brooklyn mother is being remembered for her heroic efforts during the Orlando shooting at Pulse nightclub this past weekend.

Brenda Lee Marquez McCool was among the 49 victims whose lives were taken during the tragic incident, which is being called the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

McCool was at Pulse dancing with her 21-year-old son Isaiah Henderson (pictured with her in the photos above) when gunfire erupted. As the gunman Omar Mateen approached the two, Brenda stood in front of her son and shielded him from being hit by bullets, taking the hits herself instead.

“Brenda saw him point the gun. She said, ‘Get down,’ to Isaiah and she got in front of him,” Brenda’s sister-in-law Ada Pressley told the NY Daily News. “She was shot dead. That’s how much she loved her kids. If it weren’t for her, he’d of been shot,” Pressley added.

After being struck multiple times, Brenda and Isaiah were separated in the chaos. Isaiah was later pulled to safety by police.

On Monday, Isaiah and his family were notified that Brenda didn’t survive the tragic incident. She was shot at least twice. “She was a brave woman. All day and night we hoped she would be in the hospital,” Pressley said.

Isaiah wrote about his mother’s death on Facebook. “Just laying here thinking that I was just with my mom 24 hours ago, this is so surreal. I love you mom,” he wrote in a now-deleted post.

Brenda, a mother-of-11 and two-time cancer survivor, recently moved to Orlando to be closer to her kids. Hours before the shooting took place, she posted a video of her dancing at Pulse.

McCool had frequently visited the club with her son, who is openly gay, and according to her sister-in-law Ada, she was supposed to be in New York for the Puerto Rican Day Parade, but decided to celebrate with her son in Orlando instead.

“Every year she comes to New York to celebrate the Puerto Rican Day Parade. But this year she went to Pulse to celebrate. If she’d come to New York, she’d be alive,” Ada said.

McCool’s oldest daughter Khalisha spoke with NBC News and said her mother was the most loving person in the world. “She was always really cool, but really a mom at the end of the day,” she said. “The sweetest lovingest person in the world.”

Brenda’s ex-husband Robert Vince Pressley Sr., whom she had two children with and met in 1985 while he was serving in the Air Force in San Bernardino, said she often helped those who were in need and gave them a place to stay.

“She was a good mother and a good provider,” Robert said. “She was always trying to help people, taking people in who had no place to live.”

A GoFundMe page to help cover Brenda’s funeral expenses was setup by her fifth-eldest son Farrell Marshall.

“One Decision changed the lives of many. All I ask is for prayers and whatever you can to help me and brothers sisters to be able to pick up the pieces where she left off. You will forever be in our hearts. Always. I truly love you so much MOM!,” he wrote on the page.

Brenda’s GoFundMe account had already reached its goal of $50,000 within three days.

Actor Wilson Cruz from My So-Called Life, whose mother was Brenda’s stepsister, also paid his respects on Facebook.

“She was a fighter. A cancer survivor. A stellar mother. A proud and fierce advocate for the LGBT family,” Cruz shared. “She spoke passionately about how much she loved her children. She was hilarious and loving and tore up the dance floor when salsa or anything was playing. I can’t believe she’s gone.”

More Than a Game: The Emerging “Sport” of Video Gaming

Ever since the Atari came into kids’ homes back in the ’70s, video games have become a staple in growing up. Millions of children and adults spend countless hours getting lost in the various worlds created by the video game designers – whether it’s shooters like Call of Duty, RPGs like the Elder Scrolls, or sports games put out by EA, like Madden NFL. Even if you don’t play games yourself, you can’t escape the impact games have had on modern culture in the form of TV shows, movies, or music.

But if you are a gamer, at some point in your life you’ve likely had someone complain about the amount of time you spend doing it. Maybe it was your mother or father, perhaps a significant other or your friends. Someone has told you that you should be spending your time being more productive or making something of yourself. Well today, you finally have a valid argument against them.

frank-stiff-sardoni-jr

World, meet Frank “Stiff” Sardoni, Jr. Stiff won the 2016 Madden championships yesterday in a nationally broadcast match-up on ESPN2. That’s right, ESPN broadcast a game of Madden. Stiff earned the championship belt, a portion of the $50,000 in prize money and a sponsorship with Doritos, all by playing a video game. And the stakes are only going to continue to rise, as EA announced they will dole out $1 million in winnings during the 2017 Madden Championship series.

But that’s not all. While ESPN’s broadcast was a one-time thing (or at least a test run to see if it’s a viable strategy), video game competitions — or esports — is a growing trend across the county. In fact, you can now earn a college scholarship by playing video games.

College conferences are jumping into the esports arena, with the PAC-12 in May announcing that it will be hosting live video coverage of inner-conference video game competitions. The Big Ten has also joined the fray, hosting a League of Legends tournament on their Big Ten Network. Chicago’s Robert Morris University, however, takes the cake, offering an athletic scholarship to expert gamers.

The increasing prevalence of this esports trend shouldn’t be that surprising. Websites like Twitch, which allows users to watch other people play video games, are massively successful. In 2015, Twitch announced it has over 100 million visitors per month. And where there are viewers, there is an opportunity for advertisement revenue.

Still, sports and video games have historically been on the opposite sides of the spectrum. On one end, you have the athletic, popular jocks. On the other, the nerdy video gamers. That gap has been shrinking as video games have become more mainstream, but to completely combine the two is new territory.

And it brings with it a host of questions. Will we have to start testing for weed as a performance enhancing drug? What is the injury protocol for carpal tunnel in the thumb? And how soon before FanDuel allows you to place bets on fantasy video game sports?

As with any new sport, there will be hurdles. But for now, next time your mom tells you to go outside, you just tell her you’re trying to earn a mother f’ing scholarship.

Is NeNe Leakes Coming Back for Season 9 of Real Housewives of Atlanta?

Remember last season of Real Housewives of Atlanta when NeNe Leakes supposedly “quit” the show?

Yeah, that resulted in Mrs. Leakes swooping in at the end of the season crowing about her return. NeNe made it VERY clear in her comeback last season, that she will ALWAYS be a part of RHOA.

But word has been the mum on her status for season 9. Although NeNe made it clear she is a Housewife for life, have Bravo execs tired of NeNe’s antics?

During an appearance on Kelly Ripa’s talk show, Kelly asked the big question: Will you be back for season 9 of RHOA?

I can’t tell you guys that yet, but what I will tell you is I’ve always been there, I’m loyal to Bravo so I’ll be there in some capacity.

NeNe is playing coy, but that booming acting career she THOUGHT she was owed has clearly not manifested so NeNe most certainly will be holding on to her Bravo paycheck. It sounds like, however, she’s still negotiating her asking price for returning as a full-fledged housewife and not a friend of a housewife, like she did last season with Cynthia Bailey.

Desiigner Raps About Atlanta, But Has Never Been There in Real Life

Desiigner was telling a bold-faced lie when he said he has broads in Atlanta.

In a new interview with Genius, the G.O.O.D. Music rapper revealed that despite the lyrics to his hit single “Panda,” he has never been to Atlanta (he says he’s been the to the airport though) and he doesn’t personally know or date any women there.

According to Desiigner, he once met a chick on Facebook who was from Atlanta, but they never got a chance to meet in person.

“Never smelt it, taste it, walked on it. I’ve been to the airport,” he said, adding, “Facebook is lit and I did have a b*tch in Atlanta.”

Desiigner also spoke on being shot at 14 years old, working with Kanye West, the instant success of “Panda” and more. He also admitted to not owning any Versace either, contrary to what his lyrics say. (This guy is just full of lies, huh?)

Check out the full interview below and skip to the 13:30 mark to hear Designer admit to having absolutely no broads in ATL.

Orlando Chick-fil-A Opened on Sunday to Feed Nightclub Shooting Volunteers

Employees from several Orlando Chick-fil-A restaurants donated their time by preparing and delivering food to first responders and people waiting in line to donate blood to victims following the shooting at Pulse nightclub. 49 people were killed and many others injured after gunman Omar Mateen opened fire in the crowded club early Sunday morning.

The chain is usually closed on Sundays, a policy put into place 70 years ago by its founder, Truett Cathy, so that employees could go to church or spend time with friends and family or do anything that doesn’t have to do with working.

The philanthropic gesture is an unexpected one, given Chick-fil-A became the center of a firestorm in 2012 when CEO Dan Cathy spoke out against same-sex marriage on a syndicated radio talk show. His public stance regarding gay rights triggered protests and boycotts nationwide.

After realizing that gay people love a good chicken sandwich and waffle fries as much as their heterosexual clientele, Cathy decided to tone down the homophobic rhetoric.

In 2014, Cathy told USA Today, “I’m going to leave it to politicians and others to discuss social issues.”

The Chick-fil-A store in Lee Vista, FL posted pics on its Facebook page on Sunday of its employees in action, along with the message “We love our city and the people in our community.”

But not everyone is taking the gesture as a sign that times are changing when it comes to the conservative fast-food retailer.

Bill Huelsman, a volunteer at the GLBT Community Center of Orlando stated, “They should be trying to do the right thing. Everybody is pulling together.”

In Chick-fil-A’s defense, the chain doesn’t appear to expect a pat on the back for their altruistic efforts.

“We do not think this requires any recognition,” said company spokeswoman Carrie Kurlander. “It is the least we can do in this community we love.”

“Cluck” one up for Chick-fil-A for taking a step in the right direction.

Alligator Dragged 2-Year-Old Boy Into Lake Near Disney World in Orlando

This has not been a good week for the city of Orlando, Florida.

Following the tragic murder of singer Christina Grimmie and the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub, in which 49 innocent people were killed, police are looking for a 2-year-old boy that was attacked by an alligator and dragged into the water at a Walt Disney World hotel.

The incident occurred Tuesday evening (Jun 14) around 9:30 p.m. at the Seven Seas Lagoon of the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, not too far from the Magic Kingdom theme park.

Sheriff Jerry Demings of Orange County said that the child’s father jumped in the water and tried to save him, but was unsuccessful.

“The father entered the water and tried to grab the child and was not successful in doing so. The mother also may have been in the water. So the parents diligently tried to get the child,” Demings said.

The boy’s family is from Nebraska and they were on vacation with their three children. Authorities have not released their names.

Sheriff Demings said the attack reportedly happened in an area of the Seven Seas Lagoon where “no swimming” signs were posted. The alligator was estimated to be anywhere from 4 to 7 feet long, though its exact size wasn’t known.

“Everyone here at Walt Disney World Resort is devastated by this tragic accident,” a Disney spokesperson said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the family and we are helping the family and doing everything we can to assist them.”

Sheriff Demings went on the record to say that search and rescue teams would not be leaving until the child is found.

Lawsuit Claims School Ignored White Boys Dragging Black Girl by Rope Around Her Neck

A predominantly White private school in Waco, Texas is being sued by the parents of a 12-year-old Black girl, who suffered brutal injuries during an overnight field trip.

The $3 million lawsuit is filed against Live Oak Classical School and the owner of the ranch where the incident occurred.

According to the lawsuit, three white male students allegedly put a rope around the girl’s neck and pulled her to the ground, causing severe rope burn all over her throat.

[Editor’s Note: The girl’s name is obviously being withheld for privacy concerns, and she is referred to in this Daily Beast article as “KP.”]

The family’s lawyer Levi McCathern says the attack was “racially motivated” and that the school had been contacted by the girl’s mother about bullying in the past, but never appropriately handled the situation.

“Based on the injuries KP sustained, it’s nearly impossible to argue that this was somehow an accident that could’ve happened to any child that day, regardless of race. The severity and the specificity of the injury certainly point to this incident being racial,” McCathern said.

McCathern also said the school failed to notify the child’s mother of her injuries or give the child proper medical attention.

“Even if this incident was unintentional, the school’s lack of supervision to let this happen, dismissive and tone deaf response after it happened, and refusal to investigate until legally prompted to, showed an utter disregard for one of the only African American children in the school.”

Live Oak Classical School has released a statement saying the incident at the ranch was “accidental” and that proper protocol was followed.

“The lawyer claimed that the student’s injuries were [the result of a] racially motivated, intentional attack. Live Oak takes this accusation seriously. The school interviewed all student eyewitnesses and teachers who were present and each independently established that the accusation made by the attorney is absolutely false. The injuries were caused accidentally while the students were playing with the swing and attached pull rope. The attorney was advised of the results of the interviews.”

More details below via The Daily Beast:

The $3-million lawsuit accuses Live Oak Classical School in Waco of negligence, gross negligence, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The lead attorney on the case is Levi McCathern, who represents the Dallas Cowboys.

According to the lawsuit, KP’s mother chose Live Oak—a largely white private school with a pricey tuition rate—and applied for scholarship grants so that her daughter could attend an institution with a “better education” and a “wholesome learning environment.”

In the next year though, the lawsuit claims KP encountered bullying at the school that was not disciplined.

An email from KP’s mom in the lawsuit from November alleges that a boy repeatedly pushed and shoved her 12-year-old daughter.

“This is not the first time this has happened,” she wrote to the principal. “During the the Tempest play rehearsal he was pushing and kicking her in the line that they were in.”

According to exhibits submitted with the lawsuit, the school’s principal, Allison Buras, wrote back to the mother that she “would never want children hurting one another” and that she spoke to the boys about the alleged incident.

“It sounds like he may have pushed on the back of her leg to make her leg buckle, which is something the kids sometimes do,” Buras wrote. “Rarely is that done out of meanness but more out of a desire for sport.”

Attorney David Deaconson, who represents Live Oak, said Tuesday said that the allegations about bullying made in McCathern’s petition are not accurate.

“The school appropriately responded to concerns raised by the parent in the fall of 2015 concerning her child,” he told The Daily Beast via email. “No other concerns about any boys were raised by the parents at any time thereafter.”

But the main complaint against the school comes from an April field trip to Germer Ranch in Blanco County, Texas. KP and several other children were said to have come across a swing with long rope was attached so children could pull it, the lawsuit states.

The lawsuit states KP was standing to the side of the swing when three white males, including one who allegedly bullied her in the past, pulled the rope back and wrapped it around her neck. The boys then violently jerked KP to the ground, the family claims, leaving abrasions on her neck.

Jeremy Counseller, a board member for the school, told the Dallas Morning News that “Live Oak takes the safety of its students seriously and is saddened that one of its family suffered an unfortunate accident and injury.” Counseller described what happened as “accident.”

Deaconson, the school’s counsel, said it was “proactive” afterward and conducted interviews with “students, chaperones and teachers who attended the field trip in order to gather information about the accident with the swing.” Deaconson said that the school’s internal investigation indicated that “the injuries suffered by the student were the result of an accident.”

“Anyone can allege anything they want to in a petition, but that doesn’t make it fact,” he told the Waco Tribune-Herald.

McCathern, the family’s attorney, called the alleged attack “racially motivated” in a statement.

“Based on the injuries KP sustained, it’s nearly impossible to argue that this was somehow an accident that could of happened to any child that day, regardless of race,” he said. “The severity and the specificity of the injury certainly point to this incident being racial.”

When KP told adult chaperones what happened, she was allegedly given Vaseline for her neck and Motrin for the pain. None of the adults informed KP’s mother afterward or when they returned the kids to the school to be picked up from the trip, the lawsuit claims.

“Even if this incident was unintentional,” McCathern wrote, “the school’s lack of supervision to let this happen, dismissive and tone deaf response after it happened, and refusal to investigate until legally prompted to, showed an utter disregard for one of the only African American children in the school.”

“Live Oak Classical School continues to stand behind the facts of this case and will not participate in the spreading of untruths and misinformation about its students or the school,” Deaconson wrote in a statement, adding that “the family hired a lawyer who threatened the school with racial allegations less than four days (including a weekend) after the field trip.”

When KP got into the family vehicle, the lawsuit said her mother saw the injury and was “shocked.” The girl was taken to the emergency room.

Doctors at the hospital commented on the severity of the injury and then notified police, the lawsuit alleges. A crime scene unit took photos for an investigation.

Blanco County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Ben Ablon told The Daily Beast that he has begun interviews, obtained initial police reports and requested hospital records in the case. Ablon said he’ll interview every person who was on the trip, including students and chaperones.

“We are still actively working this case,” he said. “It’s going to take a while.”

Ablon has also requested the help of a pediatrician with a specialty in child abuse injuries to review the evidence and scans that were taken during KP’s hospital visit.

KP, then 12, was immediately removed from the school, said attorney Mark “TJ” Woods, who works at McCathern’s firm. She’s now receiving treatment and counseling for the injuries she sustained, he said.

Deaconson said the school has also evaluated its parental notification protocol and “is making changes to insure parents are notified of any injuries on field trips in the future.”

Donald Trump Just Took a Giant Sh*t on the Constitution

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump wants to hold the highest office in the country—a job that entails protecting the country and upholding the constitution. Well, on Monday (Jun 14), he took a big dump on the very first amendment of the constitution: freedom of press.

In a Facebook announcement (the man loves his social media) Trump announced that he is removing the credentials of any Washington Post correspondent from all of his future events, essentially banning those reporters from exercising their American right of freedom of speech.

In his vitriolic status update, Trump said of the newspaper, “Based on the incredibly inaccurate coverage and reporting of the record setting Trump campaign, we are hereby revoking the press credentials of the phony and dishonest Washington Post.”

Pot, meet kettle.

Trump lambasting an organization for inaccurate coverage and reporting is the definition of irony. Here’s a man who used last weekend’s tragic shooting to advance his own agenda, saying the shooter was born in Afghanistan—he actually said born in “Afghan,” but I’m pretty sure he meant the real country, Afghanistan. Turns out, he was born in the same damn city as Trump.

He’s also gone on record, multiple times, might I add, saying that the judge overseeing his Trump University civil lawsuit is biased against him, largely due to the fact that he’s Mexican. Wrong again, Donald. The judge was born in Indiana.

Now, the spectacle that is Donald Trump—and all of the crazy inaccuracies the come from him—might be entertaining were it not for the fact that he is one of two people who might run this country starting next January. So for him to ignore the rights granted to citizens in the constitution, particularly when he attacks his opponent Hillary Clinton by saying she wants to take away people’s second amendment rights, is dangerous.

But as has been the case this entire election season, the media coverage on the Donald will continue to prosper even if it won’t be from the Washington Post.

Friends, Family Remember the 49 Men & Women Killed in Orlando Nightclub Shooting

After learning about the deadly shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida on Sunday, June 12 that left at least 49 dead and 53 injured, our first reaction is “Who do we blame?” There’s obviously the shooter, Omar Mateen. In addition, Mateen was an ISIS-sympathizer, so let’s point our fingers at them too.

Mateen was also on the FBI’s radar, having been interviewed twice in 2013 due to “inflammatory comments to co-workers alleging possible terrorist ties.” Mateen was questioned again in 2014 because of a suspected connection between him and an American suicide bomber. The FBI concluded Mateen was not a credible threat at the time. It’s the Feds’ fault.

Despite all of this, Mateen was able to exercise his Second Amendment rights and purchase a handgun and an AR-15. ATF should take the fall. And every legislator whose voted against gun control measures.

But amidst all of the blame gaming, there’s something we cannot forget: the victims.

This is the largest mass shooting on American soil and the 15th time President Obama has had to address the nation over the murder of its citizens by a gun-toting lunatic(s). We’re all weary, and we show our support to the victims and their loved ones on social media, but Americans are growing desensitized, concerned more about the hows and whys than the whos.

Here at GOT, we want to put faces and names to the victims because it is they who should be the focus of this travesty. All of them were beautiful and loved and meant something to their families, friends and communities. The loss is global.

Orlando Shooting Victim Says Gunman Tried to Spare Black People, He Said “You Guys Have Suffered Enough”

One of the survivors from the deadly shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando this past weekend says the gunman, Omar Mateen, didn’t have a problem with black people.

While in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound following the tragedy, 20-year-old Patience Carter spoke with the media earlier today and gave shocking details about what went down as she was held hostage in the club’s bathroom.

Patience, a college student from Philadelphia and an intern for Philly’s Fox 29, says she and her friend Akyra made it out the club when they first heard gunfire, but ran back inside to find her other friend Tiara who came with them.

From that point on, Patience, her friend Akyra, and other club patrons got trapped in a women’s bathroom with the shooter Mateen, where she says he pledged his allegiance to ISIS and told a 911 operator he wouldn’t stop killing until America stopped bombing his country.

“The motive was very clear to us who were laying in our own blood and other people’s blood. He wasn’t going to stop killing people until he was killed, until he felt like his message got out there,” Carter said.

After hanging up the phone with 911, Patience says Mateen asked the hostages in the bathroom if there were any black people in the room.

“Are there any black people in here?,” Carter says Mateen said.

Though Patience says she was too afraid to answer, another African American man spoke up and said yes, to which Mateen responded his issue was not with black people and that they have suffered enough.

“He said are there any black people in here. I was too afraid to answer, but there was an African American male in the stall where the majority of my body was, and he said, ‘Yes, there are about six or seven of us.’ And the gunman responded back to him saying, ‘You know, I don’t have a problem with black people. This is about my country. You guys have suffered enough.’ He made a statement saying this wasn’t about black people, the reason why he was doing this.”

Carter also described the bathroom in Pulse as a bloody scene with bodies all over the floor. She says shortly before police killed Mateen, he fatally shot three other people, one of which shielded her from being hit.

“If it wasn’t for that person shielding me it would’ve been me shot and I wouldn’t be sitting here today,” Carter said.

Carter’s friend Tiara Parker was injured during the mass shooting but survived, her other friend Akyra Murray (who just graduated from a Philly high school) was killed. Tiara and Akyra were cousins. They had all traveled to Orlando together for a family trip and decided to go out on their first night of vacation.

“We were all having the night we dreamed of, going out on the first night of vacation. We just went from having the time of our lives to the worst night of our lives all within a matter of minutes,” she said.

Patience also wrote a poem about the guilt of surviving the incident.

The guilt of feeling grateful to be alive is heavy
Wanting to smile about surviving, but not sure if the people around you are ready.
As the world mourns the victims killed and viciously slain
I feel guilty about screaming about my legs in pain.
Because I could feel nothing
like the other 49 who weren’t so lucky
To feel this pain of mine.
I never thought in a million years that this could happen.
I never thought in a million years that my eyes could witness something so tragic.
Looking at the souls leaving the bodies of individuals
Looking at the killer’s machine gun through out my right purview
Looking at the blood and debris covered on everyone’s faces.
Looking at the gunman’s feet under the stall as he paces.
The guilt of feeling lucky to be alive is heavy
It’s like the weight of the ocean’s walls crushing uncontrolled by levees.
It’s like being dragged through the grass with a shattered leg and being thrown on the back of a Chevy
It’s like being rushed to the hospital and told you’re going to make it.
When you laid beside individuals whose lives were brutally taken.
The guilt of being alive is heavy.

Active Shooter Who Held Hostages in Texas Walmart Killed by SWAT

There are reports that police have shot and killed an armed person inside a Walmart in Amarillo, Texas.

The gunman allegedly took hostages and at least one gunshot was heard fired. Police described the situation as a “work-place violence” incident. None of the hostages involved were harmed.

Fox News reports:

A SWAT team shot and apparently killed a suspect who took hostages at a Walmart in Amarillo, Texas Tuesday afternoon, police announced, adding that all hostages were safe.

Nearly an hour after city officials reported an “active shooter incident,” police said they had entered the Walmart and there was no “ongoing” shooting.

“We do consider this a work-place violence situation at this point,” the Randall County Sheriff’s Office told Fox News. One store employee told KFDA the gunman earlier released a worker and the store manager but was still inside the Walmart.

Witnesses told KVII an employee took another employee hostage.

No information has been provided on the gunman.

Lil Wayne’s Back-to-Back Seizures Force 2 Emergency Plane Landings

Lil Wayne scared fans after he had back-to-back seizures during a flight on Monday (Jun 13).

According to TMZ, Wayne was flying from Milwaukee to California when he blacked out and his private jet had to make an emergency landing. Wayne refused medical attention from paramedics and got back on the plane, only to suffer another seizure minutes later. The plane was landed again and Wayne was reportedly taken to the hospital.

Just the night before, Wayne was spotted out at a Milwaukee club with a double cup in his hand. Sometimes old habits die hard.

Here’s TMZ’s report:

Lil Wayne suffered a seizure during a cross-country flight, forcing his private jet to make an emergency landing in Nebraska … TMZ has learned.

Wayne was flying from Milwaukee to California when the seizure struck — and we’re told he’d blacked out when the pilot put the jet down Monday afternoon in Omaha.

Paramedics are at the airstrip right now, and Wayne is alert again. As of 1:30 PM PT … we’re told he’s refusing medical treatment.

2:00 PM PT — We’re told Lil Wayne just suffered ANOTHER seizure after refusing medical attention and going back onto his private jet. We’re told his plane was in the air for minutes when the 2nd seizure occurred … and was forced to land in Omaha once again.

Our sources say Wayne once again lost consciousness … and the paramedics are treating him on the aircraft.

2:28 PM PT — Wayne has been transported to a hospital by ambulance.

All of this sounds bad, and with 2016 already being the worst f**king year ever, it’s no surprise that fans of Weezy were very concerned, but Weezy’s team is saying there’s no need to worry.

Karen Civil sent out a tweet from Young Money’s president Mack Maine, assuring fans that “Wayne is fine now.”

This isn’t Lil Wayne’s first time having a health scare while in the air. In 2012, Wayne’s private jet made emergency landings on two consecutive days in a row. Wayne also suffered seizures in 2013, one of which was nearly fatal.

Golden State Fans Hate LeBron James and Other Things We Learned From Game 5

Monday night (Jun 13) marked Game 5 of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. With a 3-1 lead of the Cavs, the Warriors had a chance to close out the series at home and become back-to-back champs — the first since LeBron did so after infamously taking his talents to South Beach.

Despite being on the road, the Cavs managed to pull out the victory and push the series back to Cleveland at 3-2. So what did we learn from tonight’s match up?

1Golden State Fans HATE LeBron James

Following the suspension of Draymond Green, it comes as no surprise that Warriors fans are no fans of the self-proclaimed King. But the hate was palpable in Oracle Arena Monday night. The stadium was filled with anti-James posters and signs, mocking his tantrums on the court.

And every time the star touched the ball, the arena was filled with loud boos to enforce their disdain. The tactic may have backfired, though, as James seemingly used that energy to push himself to a 41-point, 16-rebound night to help the Cavs steal Game 5 on the road.

bye-bye-lebitch

Maybe it’s best not to piss off the king?

2Klay Thompson Wants That MVP

The entire season has been about Steph Curry, with Klay Thompson playing the little brother role of the splash brothers duo. Monday night, however, and in this entire series, Klay has showed that he’s a force to be reckoned with as well. Despite coming up on the losing end of tonight’s game, Thompson finished with a team high 37 points, making 6-11 from downtown.

And while the regular season may have been the Steph Curry show, Thompson is making a strong case as to why he should be the Finals MVP. Averaging 19.6 points per game, Thompson is displaying the uncanny ability to put the team on his back when Steph is floundering. The first half of Monday night’s game was the perfect demonstration, with the offense running through the lesser known of the duo, scoring 27 points to Curry’s 12 to keep them in it.

Ultimately, Thompson’s effort tonight was not enough, but should the Warriors pull it out, he has a strong case for proving his bounce back abilities from last year’s disappointing performance and pulling out the MVP for the series.

3LeBron James Found his Jump Shot

No one can deny the athleticism of LeBron James, but his Achilles heel has always been his shooting. It’s tough to stop him in the paint, but when he’s knocking down jump shots, he’s nearly impossible to guard. And in Game 5, he found that shot.

James took advantage of the weak defense of the Warriors who continuously played off of him, daring him to shoot the shot. Up until tonight, that’s been a successful strategy, but James took note and corrected his errors in Game 5, knocking down shot after shot from long and mid range. He finished 16-30 with four 3-pointers.

If he can continue to knock down those shots, the Cavs have a chance of pulling out a historic upset as he proves to be the most difficult match-up in the league.

4What a Difference Kyrie Irving Makes

In last year’s prelude to the 2016 finals, Kyrie Irving was sidelined in Game 1 of the 2015 finals after suffering a knee injury. This left James to fight the Warriors without fellow superstars Irving and Kevin Love, who was tending to an injured shoulder. He put up a valiant effort, but ultimately, the Warriors proved to be too much. This year, however, he has his surrounding cast in tow, and boy, what a difference it’s making. While Love has largely been underwhelming, Kyrie Irving proved his importance tonight, finishing with a game-tying high 41 points and going 5-for-7 from the 3-point range.

The former Duke player, who has been plagued by injuries (having missed his entire short term career at Duke due to injuries), showed his worth tonight, demonstrating his explosive speed, impressive ball-handling, and finishing abilities to assist James in pushing the Cavs through in a must-win game on the road. James has shown he’s able to win with a surrounding cast in Miami, and if Irving continues to play the way he has, there’s hope yet that Cleveland will get their first championship in over 50 years.

5Apparently Draymond Green is More Important Than We Thought

With Draymond Green suspended for punching and kicking every opponent within reach in the nuts, the do-it-all forward’s importance to the Warriors success was apparent tonight. He’s had an impressive run in the finals series, proving to be a difficult guard on offense and stifling everyone on the Cavs team on defense.

Without Green, the Warriors were forced to play players who would normally be reserved for keeping the bench warm. Anderson Varejao, John Michael McAdoo, Festus Ezeli, and Marreese Speights combined for 38 minutes in game 5, managing to produce a mere 5 points. The problem was only compounded by the fact that big man Andrew Bogut went out early with a knee injury.

The Warriors will be happy to have Green back in Game 6 in Cleveland, as, apparently, he is the key to their success.

6Anderson Varejão is the Best Actor in the NBA

Anderson Varejão has never been a superstar. He won’t put your team on his back, and he’ll never be the poster boy of the franchise. He’s been a solid player who provides valuable minutes to rest the stars, and has a knack for drawing fouls. His secret? The man flops like no other.

At least half of his time out on the court Monday night was spent flailing around on the floor, grabbing his face, ear, arm, whatever he needed to in order to draw a foul. His acting chops were remarked upon by the announcers, with Charles Barkley claiming after one particularly impressive flop, “that’s Denzel-ish right there.”

Even Steve Javie, the in-house ref expert, remarked upon Varejao’s antics, calling one particular flop, “enough for an Oscar.” Whatever you say about the man, he manages to force opponents into foul trouble and earn trips to the free throw line. Now if only he could hit only some (he finished 3-8).

Fun fact about Varejao: he’s the only player to play on both Finals teams in the same season (he started the season with the Cavs and is now with the Warriors).

The series, now a 3-2, goes back to Cleveland with the Cavs having a chance to force a Game 7. No team has ever come back from 3-1 in the NBA Finals, earning a meager record of 0-32. But should they pull out a victory at home on Thursday, they stand a chance at making history.

When it comes to a Game 7, anything is possible.

Charles Barkley Defends Draymond Green Hitting LeBron in the Balls: He Had a “Moral Obligation”

As we know, Warriors forward Draymond Green was suspended for Monday night’s Game 5 of the NBA playoffs after racking up 4 flagrant foul points in the post-season. His last point came on Friday when, late in the fourth quarter, Green elbowed Cavs star LeBron James in the groin after he threw Green to the ground and stepped over him.

In basketball, the stepover is one of the most disrespectful acts a player can do to another. Who could forget Allen Iverson’s famous step over on now Cavalier’s coach Tyronn Lue?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grXws5m11SA

I mean damn, that’s just cold blooded right there. James attempted to do the same thing to Green on Friday night, but unlike Lue, Green wasn’t having it. Some called the attack cheap, unsportsmanlike, and dirty. But not Charles Barkley. The ex-player turned TV personality came out in Green’s defense, saying he was right to hit James where the sun don’t shine. In fact, Barkley thinks he had a “moral obligation” to retaliate.

“When a guy steps over you, you have a moral obligation to punch him in the balls,” Barkley said on Bleacher Report’s Sirius XM satellite radio show. “Because that’s really disrespectful to step over a guy. You’re supposed to pop him in his junk if he steps over you like that. That’s a perfectly fine response if a guy does that.”

According to Barkley, James was trying to punk Green, and Green wasn’t having it. While the NBA may not agree with his actions Green’s actions, Charles Barkley supports them whole-heartedly.

So what did we learn, gents? Never try to step over Charles Barkley.

Mariah Carey Gets Frisky and Friendly with DJ Suss One During Studio Session

If there’s one thing that Mariah Carey is known for, it’s being a big ol’ flirt. But I thought that after her ugly divorce with Nick Cannon and new engagement to her billionaire Australian boo, James Packer, that Mariah MIGHT pull back on purring with her kitty kat.

I, apparently, thought wrong.

A strange video popped up from Mariah’s studio session with someone by the name of DJ Suss One. He is apparently her official DJ and Mariah is apparently officially very well acquainted with him.

Though DJ Suss One takes pains to repeat over and over again that Mariah is “FAMILY” to him, Mariah seems to not have gotten the memo and sensually flips her hair, bats her eyes, shows off her cleavage and purrs in the man’s ears.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGtDM11m368

With “friends” like these, it’s a wonder that any man would ever leave Mariah’s posse. Though I wonder whatever happened to Mariah and DJ Clue’s relationship, since once upon a time, Mimi was about DJ Clue.

That is how Eddie Justice started what would end up being his last conversation with his mother as he hid inside a bathroom at Florida nightclub early Sunday morning (Jun 12) as a lone gunman opened fire on hundreds of people, killing approximately 50 and injuring at least 53. Justice was pronounced dead by Orlando officials late Sunday night.

At that time, a running list of victims’ names was being released, but Eddie’s name wasn’t on it. Early Monday morning, the City of Orlando released the name of the 9th victim: Eddie Justice.

Police had recovered his body late Sunday evening, and other details regarding his death weren’t immediately released. His mother and other relatives had already been notified by the time his name was added to the list.

In her AP interview, Eddie Justice’s mother described him as a homebody who liked to eat and work out, and he also enjoyed making others laugh.

He worked as an accountant and lived in a downtown Orlando condo. “Lives in a sky house, like the Jeffersons,” she would tell people. “He lives rich.”

Police have said there were at least 300 people in the club at the time of the shooting, which is being called the deadliest in U.S. history.

President Obama released a statement urging people to pray for the victims and their families. He called the incident “an act of terror and an act of hate.”

Watch Christina Grimmie’s Last Performance Before Her Tragic Shooting Death

Just hours before she was tragically shot and killed, Christina Grimmie had a huge smile on her face as she was doing what she loved the most: performing on stage in front of her adoring fans.

On Friday night (Jun 10), the 22-year-old was shot by 27-year-old a man police later identified as Kevin james Loibl, who drove from his hometown of St. Petersburg to Orlando, Florida to commit the crime.

According to reports, Grimmie was taking pictures with fans and signing autographs after her concert at the Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida when the gunman opened fire on her. Her brother reportedly tackled the gunman, who took his own life shortly afterward. Grimmie was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead hours later.

Christina Grimmie was touring with the band Before You Exit, and video footage taken at the concert and later uploaded to YouTube shows the singer performing songs from her 2016 EP, Side A. There was also another video posted on Instagram showing Grimmie performing a cover of Drake’s “One Dance.”

“The Voice” Singer Christina Grimmie’s Murderer ID’d by Orlando Police

Christina Grimmie, a YouTube singing sensation and former contestant on NBC’s “The Voice,” was shot and killed by a crazed gunman over the weekend.

The 22-year-old was shot late Friday night in the middle of a fan meet-and-greet following a concert in Orlando, and she died early Saturday (Jun 11).

According to confirmed news reports, Christina was signing autographs for fans Friday night when the gunman walked up to her and opened fire. Christina’s brother Mark Grimmie tackled the shooter before the man freed himself and ended his own life by shooting himself in the head.

This photo (taken by Randy Ohman) was taken moments before the shooting.
This photo (taken by Randy Ohman) was taken moments before the shooting.

Christina was rushed to a hospital, but died of injuries early Saturday morning. Her brother is being hailed as a hero for stopping what could have been a mass shooting.

The man who murdered Christina Grimmie was identified by Orlando police as 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl of St. Petersburg, Florida.

The biggest questions following the tragic shooting death of Christina Grimmie has been “Why?” and “Who did it?” The first question has been answered, but because the gunman cowardly killed himself, we may never know the second.

Police so far haven’t released any details on Loibl’s background or a possible motive. The little information on him we do have is what investigators found at the scene of the crime.

From CNN:

The shooter had two handguns, two additional loaded magazines and a large hunting knife, police Chief John Mina said.

Mina said investigators were going through the man’s computer, phone and other belongings to see whether they can find information about a motive. There’s no evidence Grimmie and Loibl knew each other, police said.

Police said the suspect drove to Orlando, apparently to commit the crime, and “then had plans to travel back to where he came from.”

Officials have no idea how the gunman got into the venue with guns or whether attendees were even checked for weapons in the first place.

“We don’t know if he was just a crazy fan that followed her on Twitter or on social media,” Orlando police spokeswoman Wanda Miglio said. “We really don’t know … it’s undetermined at this point.”

Christina was on tour with the band Before You Exit as their opening act. After the shooting, Before You Exit wrote on Twitter that its members were “completely heartbroken” over Grimmie’s tragic death.

“Christina was such a loving, caring, beautiful person with the biggest heart,” the band said in a statement attached to the tweet. “She was an absolutely incredible musician and an even better friend.”
