Former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas Accepts Donald Sterling’s So-Called “Apology”

Los Angeles Clippers coach Doc Rivers said he doesn’t believe maligned team owner Donald Sterling‘s so-called “apology” isn’t much of an apology at all, but apparently, former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas is more on the forgiving side.

Arenas — who now plays in the Chinese Basketball Association with the Shanghai Sharks — wrote on Instagram Tuesday (May 13) that he accepts Sterling’s non-apology, saying “forgiveness will destroy racism.”

He has since deleted the message (likely after realizing how stupid it was, or at the advice of someone with some damn sense), but of course someone has the screenshot:

“I’ll be the first to accept ur apology. as a man who’s made a mistake or two in life I know how hard it is to look at your self in the mirror when you let so many ppl down but for anybody who can’t and won’t accept his apology u need to look in the mirror because were not perfect. forgiveness will destroy racism not more hatred.”

32-year-old Gilbert Arenas is a three-time NBA All-Star and played in the league from 2001 until 2012.

Laura Govan‘s baby daddy was suspended for most of the 2009-10 season due to handgun violations after he admitted to storing unloaded firearms in his locker at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. in December 2009.

The following January, Arenas was charged for that incident, as well as another, in which he and a teammate reportedly had unloaded guns in the Wizards’ locker room during an argument on Christmas Eve about gambling debts, and he later pleaded guilty to a felony charge of carrying an unlicensed pistol outside a home or business.

He was also suspended from the NBA indefinitely without pay and re-joined the Wizards for the 2010-11 season before he was traded to the Orlando Magic in December 2010, and then the Memphis Grizzlies in March 2012.

He’s been playing in Shanghai since November 2012 and was most recently spotted in California last month at a joint birthday party for his two sons with former “Basketball Wives: L.A.” star Laura Govan: 7-year-old Alijah Arenas and 3-year-old Aloni.

Doc Rivers: Donald’s Sterling’s “Apology” Doesn’t Sound Like Much Of One To Me

Embattled Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling — who was banned for life from the NBA by commissioner Adam Silver over racist remarks he made on a recording that was made public — sat down for his first extended interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper this week.

In the strange interview, which aired Monday night (May 12), Sterling begged the NBA to let him keep his team, saying that he’s a “good member who made a mistake” and that he was “apologizing” and “asking for forgiveness.”

“I’ve never been a racist and I’ll never be a racist,”Sterling said. “Am I entitled to one mistake, am I after 35 years?” he asked. “I mean, I love my league, I love my partners. Am I entitled to one mistake? It’s a terrible mistake, and I’ll never do it again.”

Sterling also rambled about Magic Johnson, saying that the NBA legend was a bad example for children in the community because he has “AIDS,”* and had not given back to the community. He also claimed that players for the Clippers loved him, and his fellow supporters were standing by him throughout all of this.

*For the record, Magic Johnson has HIV, and not AIDS, but moving on…

Sterling also said his “side chick” V. Stiviano was the one who was discussing “black guys” on the tape and not him, but when Cooper asked him about the specifics of the tape, but Sterling couldn’t offer any explanation.

He said he believed V. Stiviano set him up and he called her a “street person,” saying: “I don’t know why the girl had me say those things.”

Overall, the entire interview was bizarre, to say the least, and Clippers coach Doc Rivers has gone on record to say that he doesn’t believe Donald Sterling’s “apology” isn’t much of an apology at all.

Rivers said Monday he was shocked to hear Sterling’s comments about Magic Johnson.

“Obviously I know who Magic is,” Rivers said. “I’ll stand by Magic every day of the year because I’ve known him for a long time. Having said that, I don’t know what’s going on out there. I tried not to get involved in that part of it right now. Whatever it is, that doesn’t sound like much of an apology to me.”

Rivers added, “I’m glad that he did it. I don’t have much more comments than that. But I think that’s what you have to do, and you should do it. He probably should have done it right away.”

More from ESPN:

Rivers followed up with his thoughts on the interview at the Clippers’ shootaround Tuesday.

“I wasn’t looking for him to say anything,” he said, noting he only saw pieces of the interview. “I’ve been asked a hundred times: ‘Do you accept the apology?’ I wasn’t looking for him to say anything. I’m not looking for an apology or anything. Right now I’m focused on our guys and being above all that. That’s fine; he’s going to keep doing what he does. We have to keep doing our jobs, though.”

Asked if he was surprised by Sterling’s continued attacks on the former Lakers great, Rivers added: “I don’t know if I am or not, to be honest.”

Clippers stars Chris Paul and Blake Griffin also were asked about Sterling saying all his players love him. “I don’t know about all that,” Paul said. “I love my wife, my kids, my family and my teammates.”

Added Griffin: “Throughout the past two weeks we’ve tried to make it as much not about that and not about what’s going on with him. If you ask every single guy on this team, they’ll say they love their family, they love their teammates and that’s who we’re playing for and that’s really the bottom line.”

Meanwhile, Shelly Sterling — Donald Sterling’s estranged wife — said she believes her husband, who is rumored to have cancer, could also be suffering from dementia and she is putting up her best fight to keep her 50% of stake in the Clippers.

“I felt bad for him,” she told The Today Show in an interview the morning after her husband’s interview aired on CNN. “Because he’s not the man I know. Or I knew. There’s something wrong.”

When pressed by host Savannah Guthrie about what exactly was going on with Sterling, the Mrs. replied, “I really think personally he has dementia.”

Shelly said the changes in her estranged husband’s behavior are baffling, to say the least, and until his recent comments, she said she had “never heard him to be a racist.”

“I don’t think it happened overnight, it’s been happening but nobody really knew the reason. He gets crazy and yells and screams and hollers one moment,” she said. “And then the next moment he’ll talk about something else. It’s like nothing makes sense.”

“And why would he bring Magic Johnson into the issue about what’s happening now?” she added. “I mean, that’s why I felt pity because he couldn’t get all the dots together. He couldn’t connect the dots.”

Mrs. Sterling said she will fight the NBA to keep her stake in the L.A. Clippers, though she did agree with their decision to force her husband to sell his shares in the team.

Mrs. Sterling said she attended a game last week and received warm greetings from the fans below her box seats. She claimed that she felt support from some of the players, even though so there were reports floating around that they would boycott the team if it remained in the Sterling family.

She told Guthrie of her husband’s comments, “I’m very angry. And I’m very hurt. And I even cried listening to that, because I just feel bad … And then I feel bad. Why am I the victim when he’s the perpetrator? If somebody killed somebody, does the wife have to stand trial too?”

The Los Angeles Clippers were booted out of the Playoffs Thursday night in Game 6 after OKC defeated them, 104-98, ending their series at 2-4. Better luck next year, guys!

LeBron James Denies Threatening NBA Boycott Next Season if Donald Sterling Still Owns Clippers

LeBron James is denying previous reports that suggested that the Miami Heat star would boycott the NBA during next year’s 2014-15 season.

Earlier this week, in a trailer for an upcoming episode of “Jim Rowe of Showtime,” the Vice President of the Players Association randomly discussed James’ plans for next year if the racist owner of the Los Angeles Clipperswho claims he isn’t a racist (hmph!) — remained an owner of the NBA team.

In the short clip, the Players Association VP Roger Mason Jr. made what All Hip Hop deemed a “declarative statement that could change the entire 2014-15 NBA season.”

“I was just in the locker room, three or four days ago,” Mason Jr. said. “Lebron and I talked about it. He ain’t playing if Sterling is still an owner.”

Though LeBron James is under a 6-year contract with the Heat worth $109.84, which he signed in 2010 with over $67 million guaranteed, there’s a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave the team whenever he pleases and be a free agent by the June 30th deadline.

So him opting out of playing for an entire season for “the cause” would certainly be a big deal … but unfortunately, Bron-Bron isn’t ready for that type of “revolution,” and we honestly don’t blame him.

This past Wednesday night (May 14) before LeBron and his team eliminated the Brooklyn Nets from the 2014 NBA Playoffs, James talked to ESPN about Mason Jr’s statement:

“Roger comes in here, we speak about issues. I believe that issue came up but, as a team, we never discussed it. Roger is a great guy and I don’t have a problem with him at all.”

For his part, Roger addressed his comments on his Twitter page, admitting to being unclear on the boycott news:

Macaulay Culkin Wears a T-shirt of Ryan Gosling Wearing a T-shirt of Him

Ladies and gentleman, behold: Macaulay Culkin wearing a T-shirt of a photo of Ryan Gosling … WEARING A T-SHIRT OF MACAULAY CULKIN!

The internet went nets over the photo after it was posted on Twitter Sunday night (May 11) as a rather clever promotion tactic for the former actor’s pizza-themed Velvet Underground cover band called “The Pizza Underground.”

As one Uproxx commenter astutely pointed out, “If Ryan Gosling doesn’t get this picture printed on a shirt, he’s not doing life the right way.”

Another user replied, “Are you crazy? If Ryan wears a shirt with Mac on it wearing a shirt with Ryan wearing a shirt with Mac on it, the fucking universe will implode!!!!”

True dat!

Chris Brown Admitting Probation Violation Could Be the Key to His Freedom

Chris Brown appeared in court last Friday (May 9) and he admitted to violating his probation by getting arrested in Washington, D.C. for allegedly assaulting a fan — an admission his legal team is hoping will be the key to his freedom really soon.

The 25-year-old, who spent his birthday earlier this month behind bars, was then sentenced a year in prison, but since Chris gets credit for the 116 days he spent in rehab, plus the 59 days he was behind bars, that leaves only 131 days in the slammer.

Additionally, because of overcrowding, TMZ reports that the L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept. has been releasing inmates sentenced 1 year in prison after just 240 days. Also, Chris will reportedly get credit for 2 days for every 1 day he served behind bars.

After doing the math, he already has credit for 234 days, which is just 6 days shy of 240, meaning that he could released VERY soon.

More from TMZ:

The judge could have gone a lot harder — 4 years in prison. But Chris got a break because the judge took into account he was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which could account for some of the violence.

The judge also ordered Chris to attend therapy sessions with a shrink 2 times a week. And he must submit to random drug testing 3 times a week.

Chris Brown’s D.C. assault trial is set to start in the coming months, so Chris isn’t completely out of the legal woods just yet.

Brown’s lawyer said Friday’s resolution is obviously a huge relief for the singer, who has been locked up for the past two months.

“We’re gratified that he was not sentenced to state prison, gratified that he’s still on probation,” Mark Geragos said, according to CNN. “I think that Chris has learned quite a bit through this experience and I’m anxious to see how he does, as I think everybody else is.”

How Rihanna Turned a Selfie Accident Into a $91K Payday for Charity

Rihanna hasn’t had the best luck with photo-related things lately.

After being temporarily banned from Instagram for sharing a few NSFW pics on her account (which is against their TOS), Rihanna was at the Clippers vs. OKC game last Friday night (May 9) in Los Angeles, and it just so happened that her seat was right beside president of the L.A. Police Commission, Steve Soboroff

Soboroff asked her to take a selfie with him, but he let Rihanna hold the phone herself, which he quickly found out was a big mistake on his part.

While taking the selfie, RiRi accidentally let dropped Soboroff’s phone (BUTTERFINGERS!!!), which cracked his screen.

This photo of the pair went viral on Twitter and Rihanna later took to the popular social networking site to apologize for the mishap.

“Sorry I broke your phone,” she tweeted.

More via The Boombox:

Soboroff thought the photo would help boost morale after the LAPD lost five police officers within the last two months — four in collisions and one of a heart attack. The veteran officer took it a step further and came up with a plan to auction off the cracked phone with the Rihanna selfie included.

When the commission president bumped into Rihanna again at the Clippers game last Sunday (May 11), he explained to the R&B diva his idea to sell the phone on eBay.

Graciously, Rihanna autographed the phone with “Sorry! I (heart) LAPD. Rihanna.” In addition, she also donated $25,000 to help underprivileged students become police cadets and families of fallen officers.

Currently, the autographed cracked phone is up for sale on eBay. As of Wednesday (May 14), the bidding is over $13,000. The auction will close on May 15 at 1PM PST.

The auction is now closed, and the highest bidder put up $66,500 for the phone … so in all, Rihanna helped raise at least $91,500 for charity.

Kudos for Rihanna for turning a clumsy selfie accident into a $91.5K payday for charity!

Lil Wayne Spits FIRE, Shouts Out Jay Z On “D’usse” (NEW MUSIC)

The old Lil Wayne is back! Or at least that’s the first thing that came to our minds after listening to his newly released song called “D’usse.”

After teasing the track as part of his weekly “Weezy Wednesday” series, Tunechi debuted the full version of “D’usse” last night on YouTube.

Produced by DJ Nasty, the track, with a name inspired by Jay Z‘s new cognac liquor, sees the HNIC of Young MOney spitting a fiery four-minute verse (with no hook), channeling his mixtape days with straight rhymes, and shouting out Jay Z, his “lil brother” Lil Twist and some of his fallen homies “Lil Kevin,” “Lil Beezy” and “Big Sausage.”

Standout lyric: “Yeah I might have them bricks, call me Brick Cannon / Nina on my lap, what you want from Santa? / I might get money, fuck bitches; Kill niggas and smoke weed / I‘m married to this real shit; And I’m a wife beater, no sleeves.”

Wayne is gearing up for the release of his final album (or so he says…) ‘Tha Carter V,’ which currently has no set release date but should be out soon. He dropped the album’s first single “Believe Me” featuring Drake earlier this month.

Tyler, the Creator Terrorized BuzzFeed; Called the Site “Boring”

As part of their promo run for the third season of “Loiter Squad,” Tyler, the Creator and his Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All crew were invited to BuzzFeed‘s office in New York City’s Flatiron district on Wednesday (May 14), and while there, they reportedly wreaked havoc, terrorizing any and everyone (and everything) in their path.

OFWGKTA were likely there hoping to have some fun, but the Hip Hop collective quickly found out the site’s writers/editors didn’t find their brand of humor funny at all.

Some of the BuzzFeed staff even tweeted about their annoyance during Odd Future’s visit.

“Tyler the creator just embarrassed every black person in buzzfeed edit smdh,” the site’s deputy editor-in-chief Shani O. Hilton wrote in a now deleted tweet.

What exactly did BuzzFeed expect from a group called with “Kill Them All” in their name?

Gawker probably said it best: “Inviting Tyler and his friends to Buzzfeed is like inviting the skaters who smoke behind the van during lunch to a drama club meeting.”

Tyler later took to Twitter and responded to BuzzFeed’s reaction to his visit:

Tyler and his cohorts also paid a visit to The Huffington Post’s NYC offices, and bashed BuzzFeed in an interview with HuffPost Live. He called site “boring” and said he and his Odd Future buddies were just there to “bring in so much yellow freaking filling to their gray, boring [lives].”

From HuffPo:

The Odd Future guys called Buzzfeed “boring” and Tyler, the Creator said of the Buzzfeed office that “half the people there didn’t like me.”

“I guess some of the people who work in the office [were like], ‘I’m above this, oh my god, we’re working, we have strong opinions,'” Tyler said. “We just came in there trying to bring in so much yellow freaking filling to their gray, boring [lives].”

Tyler said the negative reaction “bummed [him] out” because the group had a good time at Buzzfeed. As Gawker documented Wednesday, many staff members tweeted displeasure with the Odd Future visit, and one editor talked about one member shooting a Nerf gun.

Regarding the Nerf gun, Tyler added that it doesn’t make sense to have toys in an office if you don’t expect them to be played with.

“One, I didn’t touch the Nerf gun. Two, that was Jasper [Dolphin]. Three, it didn’t hit anyone. And four, dude, you have a Nerf gun in the office,” Tyler said. “How do you have a Nerf gun in there if you don’t want anybody messing with it?”

The guy does have a point there. But the bigger question should be: “How do you invite Tyler, the Creator and Odd Future into your office and not expect them to act the fool?”

T.I. Explains Why He Checked Apollo Nida Over “Snitch” Comments

“Real Housewives of Atlanta” reality star Apollo Nida apparently has a problem taking responsibility for his actions.

When news broke that he had pleaded guilty to fraud and was facing up to 30 years in prison, Apollo seemed to blame his wife Phaedra Parks for putting him in a position to steal money to keep their “lifestyle” up.

This is what the AJC said he shared in court:

He said she was making far more money than him and he felt pressure to keep up. (He cited a $600,000 contract for her but didn’t say how long that was supposed to last.) Without easy legitimate ways to make quick money, he opted for this illegal scheme instead. But he claimed to her he was running a legitimate debt recovery firm and kept her firmly in the dark.

He said he even had a nervous breakdown at one point over the pressures to “sustain a lifestyle” befitting of a reality show star. And once he started the scheme, he found it difficult to stop. “I got sucked in and engulfed and lost sight of things,” he said.

Apollo also got himself in hot water with rapper T.I. and NFL star Michael Vick for insinuating that they “snitched” to get out of their own respective legal issues.

It all started when TMZ posted an article describing a deal Apollo made with the feds, essentially making him a “snitch.”

Nida copped a plea Tuesday to wire and bank fraud, and TMZ has learned under the terms of the deal he agreed to act in an “undercover investigative capacity” for the feds.

Here’s what we don’t understand … the plea deal is now available to the public, so what idiot is going to spill his guts to Nida now?

It gets even weirder. Nida has agreed to allow the feds to record conversations he may have with other criminal suspects. Again, it’s like screaming through a bullhorn, “Don’t talk to that dude!”

Someone called Nida out on Twitter for snitching, and he fired back by downplaying TMZ’s story, explaining that he wasn’t an “informant” and his case was just standard procedure, while name-dropping Tip and Mike.

“If 1 knows about the federal system it’s standard language in a plea agreement 1 must be put on notice if that applies to them,” Nida said via Twitter. “Michael Vick’s, TI’s plea. It’s the same language different charge.”

Michael Vick hasn’t responded, but T.I. sure did, and he made it VERY clear to Apollo that he needs to keep his name out of his mouth.

The rapper and his friend Killer Mike (also a rapper) actually CONFRONTED the reality TV star in a parking lot in Atlanta and forced him to apologize on the spot and admit that their cases were not similar AT ALL.

From TMZ:

T.I.’s right … we’ve seen the documents and his plea agreement with the Feds does NOT include a so-called snitching clause.

Nida has since deleted the tweet — and after what happens in this video … safe to say he won’t be saying, tweeting, or even thinking anything about T.I. again.

Apollo also tried to cover his tracks on Twitter by saying that his tweet was “taken out of context.”

T.I. recently sat down for an interview with “The Big Tigger Show” on Atlanta’s V-103 radio station and he touched base on his brief encounter with Apollo regarding those snitching comments.

“I don’t have no slandering. If you’re going to tell the truth on me that’s fine,” T.I. said. “Anybody got something to say about me, make sure it’s the truth. If it ain’t the truth, just be ready to see me.”

The rapper went on to tell Tigger that all court documents are public record, so those who are curious can actually read up on his plea agreements and find the truth for themselves.

“The wonderful thing about the federal government and the United States is that all agreements, plea agreements are public record so you can pull Clifford Joseph Harris,” he said. “It’s all out there, man, so you can pull my agreement up.”

Watch the full 7-minute interview here (the part about Apollo comes in at around the 3:35 mark):

Mariah Carey Teams Up with Rich Homie Quan on “Thirsty” (NEW MUSIC)

Mariah Carey and Rich Homie Quan are not here for thirstiness and/or those who possess the qualities of a “thirsty” individual.

Earlier this month, Mariah Carey announced the title of her next album: ‘Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse’ and this week she released her latest single “Thirsty,” which features a verse from up-and-coming Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan and production from Hit-Boy.

“Boss now, you tryna be a boss now / Thinking you a boss now / Boy you just looking thirsty,” Mariah sings on the track, which has a beat reminiscent of “N**gas in Paris”

Rich Homie raps, “Somebody get this girl a glass water / I say she six nickels, not a dime, past a quarter / Her daddy question me why she thirsty / You can ask your daughter, back up off me / You look a little salty, so thirsty, should drink coffee.”

DJ Envy debuted the Rich Homie version of the club-friendly single on The Breakfast Club, and Revolt premiered the version with just Mariah.

Mimi’s 14th album ‘Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse’ is due out on May 27th.

Beyoncé, Jay Z & Solange Release Joint Statement About Elevator Fight: “Families Have Problems And We’re No Different”

Because cryptic posts/messages on Instagram just isn’t enough, the Carter-Knowles family (Beyoncé, Jay Z and baby sis Solange) have buckled to public pressure and released an OFFICIAL statement to the Associated Press last night regarding the recently leaked elevator security camera footage that showed Solange beating on Jay Z like he stole something.

In the statement, Jay Z and Solange both “assume their share of responsibility” for the confrontation, which happened as they were leaving a Met Gala after-party at the Standard Hotel in New York City.

The Carter-Knowles’ also denied reports that Solange was “intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening.” So in other words, she was just being her normal self.

Here is the Carter-Knowles family’s full statement:

“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.

“The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”

Thank you, Ms. Pope!

34-Year-Old Woman Posing As High School Sophomore Arrested in Texas

A high school sophomore in Texas was arrested earlier this week after police discovered that she was actually well over 30 years old.

With the help of a “guardian,” 34-year-old Charity Anne Johnson allegedly enrolled at New Life Christian School in Longview, TX as a sophomore under the name “Charity Stevens,” KLTV reported.

Johnson’s guardian was a woman named Tamica Lincoln, who said Charity told her she was 15 years old and needed somewhere to stay.

“I sympathized with her, and invited her into my home,” Lincoln said. “I took her in as a child, did her hair, got her clothes and shoes…”

Lincoln says Charity claimed she was abused by her biological father who has since passed away, along with her biological mother. Lincoln acted as Charity’s guardian and even met with Charity’s 10th grade teachers at New Life Christian School.

“I just don’t know why she did it. Why put yourself and others at risk to do something like this?” she wonders. “I have deep concerns about her being who we don’t know she is, and then she’s out there at the school.”

As soon as Lincoln and Paul Ward suspected Charity was using a fake identity, they called the police and went straight to the school. “Teachers were crying and students were crying, and her best friend just couldn’t believe it.”

Lincoln said she reached out to a number of people on Facebook who claimed to know Johnson, but none of them offered to help or wanted to do anything with her.

Johnson was arrested Sunday night (May 11) at an apartment after residents told officers they had reason to believe she was lying about her age, and they needed help making her leave the building.

Police said Johnson gave them the name “Charite Stevens” and a birth date of November 24th 1997 — the same information she used to enroll in school, where she had been a student since October 2013. It took until now for school officials to discover that her identification was fake.

Johnson was booked on charges of failure to identify and giving false, fictitious information. She remained in the Gregg County Jail on $500 at press time.

Two Young Boys Hospitalized After “Bounce House” Gets Flung Into the Air by Wind Gust

A pair of young boys, aged 5 and 6, were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after they were tossed out of a “bounce house” as it was swept at least 20 to 50 feet into the sky by a strong gust of wind.

A third child (a little girl) also fell out of the bounce house, but she only suffered a few minor scrapes and bruises.

According to confirmed reports, the three children were playing in the 10-by-10-foot “roofless nylon playhouse” in a South Glens Falls, New York townhouse community Monday afternoon (May 12) when the house broke loose from the plastic stakes anchoring it into the ground.

The girl immediately fell out and suffered minor scrapes, but the boys didn’t fall out until the house was at least 15 to 20 feet into the air.

Police Chief Kevin Judd told the Glens Falls Post Star that one of the boys hit a parked car and then the pavement when he fell, causing him to suffer a serious head injury. The other boy suffered two broken arms, a broken jaw, broken facial orbital bone and possible ruptured spleen.

The playhouse went on to float a full 50 feet into the air and one witness was able to snap a series of shocking photos of it hovering above the ground.

The police chief called what happened a “tragic incident” and the incident was being investigated, though no charges will likely be filed.

“It was like a horror movie,” one witness told the Post-Star. “It just kept going up and up. It cleared our building and the trees.”

UK Teen Suffering from Cancer Dies After Raising Over $5 Million for Charity

A teenager from the UK who, despite being diagnosed with an incurable form of cancer, managed to raise more than $5.4 million in donations through tireless fundraising efforts passed away on Wednesday (May 14), his mother said via Facebook. He was 19 years old.

When Stephen Sutton was first diagnosed with cancer in 2010 at age 15, he created a “bucket list” on Facebook of 46 things he wanted to do before he died.

“In a weird way, I see my first cancer diagnosis as a good thing. It was a huge kick up the backside. It gave me a lot of motivation for life … Some things on my bucket list include sky diving. Crowd surfing in a rubber dinghy. Playing drums in front of a huge crowd. I ended up doing it live at Wembley. Hug an animal bigger than me.”

Sutton said after he checked off each item on his list, something else happened and he came up with a great idea.

“Since starting the bucket list, I’ve had people come up to me and offer to raise funds for me. To go on holiday or tick off a new item on my bucket list. But I’ve actually refused. And decided to give the money to charity instead.”

His decision to give the money to charity led to an astounding fundraising effort that won him wide admiration in Britain, despite doctors telling him in 2012 that his illness was terminal.

On the Facebook page he set up to run that effort, Stephen’s Story, he describes himself as a “teenager with incurable cancer just trying to enjoy life as much as possible, while raising funds for charity to help others.”

And when his condition took a turn for the worse this spring, the news made national headlines. After rallying briefly, he was readmitted to a hospital Sunday with breathing difficulties.

With typical fortitude, the last post he wrote said, “Fingers crossed the issue will be resolved and that I’ll be out of hospital soon, I’ll keep you all updated with how I’m getting on.”

On Tuesday, a message on his Facebook page from his family said that his breathing trouble was caused by the regrowth of tumors blocking his airways and that he was no longer able to communicate.

A day later, his mother posted: “My heart is bursting with pride but breaking with pain for my courageous, selfless, inspirational son who passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday 14th May.

“The ongoing support and outpouring of love for Stephen will help greatly at this difficult time, in the same way as it helped Stephen throughout his journey. We all know he will never be forgotten, his spirit will live on, in all that he achieved and shared with so many.”

[via: CNN]

The millions Stephen raised reportedly went to the Teenage Cancer Trust — the charity that helped him through each surgery and each round of radiation and chemotherapy he underwent during the nearly four years he spent battling the disease.

Family Cat Saves Boy from Vicious Dog Attack: Watch the Viral Video!

In shocking video footage that you have to see to believe, a family cat rescued a boy from being viciously attacked by a dog!

On Tuesday (May 13), a toddler was riding his bike in his family’s driveway in Bakersfield, California when he was nearly mauled by a neighbor’s dog.

But before the canine could do any serious damage, the family’s pet cat Tara came flying out of nowhere and chased the dog away. (Watch the video above)

The whole episode played out on security camera footage taken outside the home, and after the attack, the boy’s mother can be seen swooping in the pick up her injured son, carrying him away to safety.

Erica Triantafilo told local news station KERO-TV that her son needed a few stitches, but other than that, he is doing OK.

Erica and her husband Roger appeared on the Today Show and said that Tara is normally “the most mellow cat you’ve ever met,” but obviously, she can turn into an aggressive pussy when she needs to.

Gawker called the cat a “hero,” while their sister site Jezebel called the feline the “world’s most awesome cat.”

“The cat, meanwhile, is now officially the best fucking cat in the history of the goddamn world,” wrote Jezebel’s Erin Gloria Ryan. “Seriously. I’ve had cats my entire life and they’ve all been delightful assholes who would probably watch me get murdered and then beg my murderer for a can of wet food before he leaves.”

According to TMZ, the dog was picked up Tuesday by animal control “in an extremely aggressive state” and a decision had been made to put him to sleep.

Anti-Gay Mother’s Day Protester Gets Slushie Thrown In Her Face

An anti-gay protester used Mother’s Day to spread a message of hate at a busy intersection and ended up getting a slushie thrown at her by a displeased bystander.

Christine Weick — an author from Michigan — was standing at a busy intersection in Grandville, Mich. on Sunday (May 11) while holding a sign that read “Thank your mom today for not being gay.”

NBC affiliate WOOD TV received a tip about the demonstration and sent a cameraperson to the scene, and while cameras were rolling, a woman named Jessica Prince walked up to Weick and threw a slushie right in her face! Weick then threatened to pepper-spray Prince, who flipped her off.

Watch here:

Others also protested Weick’s demonstration with signs of their own, with messages like “Thank your mom if you’re not a BIGOT! Judge not…” and “F**k her.”

“Truth is hate to those that hate the truth, and this is the truth,” Weick told WOOD after the slushie was thrown at her. “They don’t like it and they label me a hater, and it isn’t that at all. I love them enough to tell them they are on the wrong path.”

Weick also wrote about the incident on her Facebook page:

Yes… this was my Mother’s Day. The day was full of surprises too. I did not expect the media to get involved, let alone tape the attack! The young man standing next to me that was holding the f**k her sign actually apologized and changed the sign after a number of people scolded him. Please pray for Zack as I was able to share the Gospel with him.

Weick is the author of the book “Explain This! A Verse by Verse Explanation of the Book of Revelations.”

Back in March, she protested the trial to overturn Michigan’s ban on gay marriage with a sign that read, “Warning! God draws a line on gay marriage.”

Christine Weick, who claims to be a born-again Christian, believes that same-sex marriage is the “core degradation of our society.”

Tiny & Her BFF Shekinah Respond to T.I. with “Cut It Off”

All obviously isn’t well with T.I. and Tiny.

Yesterday Tiny and her BFF Shekinah dropped a new song called “Cut It Off,” a remix to K.Camp’s “Cut Her Off.”

On the track, Tiny raps:

“I know that’s yo man hoe, he aint go no bands though / Finesse him out a check, you know he just another fan hoe / You say you the plug, but that nigga aint got a gram though / That nigga just a local i know bosses in Japan though.”

Shekinah also goes off and delivers some decent bars.

Even though the lyrics don’t seem to be aimed directly at Tip, we still for some reason feel as if he was the inspiration for at least some of the song.

Just recently, Tip released a remix to Jhene Aiko’s “The Worst,” addressing Tiny for blasting him on social media and uploading photos of her booty on IG, so it appears Tiny is letting him know two can play that game.

Gucci Mane Pleads Guilty to Gun Charges, Will Remain in Jail Until 2016

Gucci Mane struck a plea deal in court Tuesday (May 13) that will likely see him serving at least 39 months in jail, which means that the rapper won’t be out of prison until 2016.

According to TMZ, Gucci Mane pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon — a charge that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in jail, however, under Gucci’s plea deal, he’s only expected to face 39 months, minus 10 months credit for the time he’s already served behind bars.

He’s set to be sentenced in July and has also been given a $250K fine.

Gucci has been sitting in an Atlanta jail since September 2013 after he was arrested for threatening cops while having a gun and weed on his person the same week he almost got into a fight at the mall and had a lean-induced Twitter meltdown, the latter of which he later apologized for.

Despite being behind bars, Gucci has remained active in music, releasing a collaborative mixtape with rising ATL rapper Young Thug in April called ‘Young Thugga Mane La Flare’ … which means that fans of the deranged rapper should expect more releases to come in spite of his unfortunate incarceration.

Lil Durk Calls Out Game On Twitter Over “Chiraq” Diss Track with Tyga

The beef between Chicago rapper Lil Durk and West Coast emcee Game has been heating up on Twitter following the release of Tyga‘s “Chiraq to LA” diss track featuring Game.

Since the song’s release, Chitown rapper G Count has fired shots at Game in a new diss track, and Lil Durk’s management told XXL that incarcerated Chicago rap legend Bump J would be getting on the phone from prison to “say he don’t know Game.”

Durk — who said Chief Keef “disrespected the whole Chicago” by siding with Game and Tyga — also took to his Twitter on Monday (May 12) and threw a few cyber jabs at Game, telling the California rapper that while he may have more money than him, Durk has the full support of the streets.

The “Dis Ain’t What U Want” rapper also let Game know that he is ready to go to battle, specifically with him and anyone who supports him or the “Chiraq to L.A.” diss song.

After catching wind of Durk’s comments, Game was quick to offer up his own response:

According to our friends over at FreddyO.com, the trap trio — Quavo, Takeoff and Offset — spent close to $800,000 on the video shoot, including securing the prominent location (right in front of Atlana’s world-famous Fox Theater!), acquiring talent and “just doing what it takes to make a hot music video.”

Young Thug even dropped by the shoot, posing for photos and likely shooting cameo scenes for the video.
