Suge Knight Charged with Murder, Facing Life in Prison Over Hit-and-Run That Killed His Friend

Hip Hop mogul Marion “Suge” Knight is facing life in prison after being charged with murder, attempted murder and hit-and-run over the fatal car accident that claimed the life of his friend, 55-year-old Terry Carter.

In case you’re not up on the story, Suge and his friend Terry were on location at a filming for a promotional shoot for the upcoming NWA biopic “Straight Outta Compton” when a security guard on the set asked the former Death Row executive to leave the premises.

A fight broke out between Suge and two crew members and Suge hopped back into his truck, threw it in reverse and “accidentally” ran over Carter, who was trying to get into the vehicle from behind when he was struck. Carter was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

In addition to Carter, Suge also reportedly ran over another man — actor Cle “Bone” Sloan — with his truck, but he didn’t suffer any life threatening injuries.

“Following an altercation on Thursday outside a Compton restaurant, Knight allegedly was driving his truck when he ran over two men standing in the parking lot,” read a statement from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. “One man was injured and the second man, Terry Carter, 55, died. The driver of the pickup fled the scene.”

Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Game were all reportedly on set for the promotional shoot but had already left before the incident happened.

Suge Knight’s attorney James Blatt told the Associated Press that Knight was in fear of his life didn’t mean to run over the men.

“We are confident that once the investigation is completed, he will be totally exonerated,” James Blatt said. “He was in the process of being physically assaulted by two men and in an effort to escape he unfortunately hit two [other] individuals. He was in his car trying to escape.”

Deputies have reportedly obtained video of the incident, which is said to only caption a “portion” of what happened, but authorities believe it could still strengthen the Case against Suge, whose $2 million bail was revoked Monday because he’s considered a flight risk and officials are worried he might intimidate witnesses.

If Suge is convicted of the felony charges he’s facing — attempted premeditated murder, hit and run resulting in death and hit and run resulting in injury — he could spend the rest of his life in prison.

“Moesha” Star Marcus T. Paulk Arrested in Arizona for DUI & Drugs

“Moesha” star Marcus T. Paulk star was arrested and charged with DUI and drug possession Sunday morning (Feb 1) in Arizona after cops pulled him over for reckless driving.

Paulk failed a field sobriety test after blowing a .109 on the breathalyzer and cops also allegedly found a bag of marijuana in his possession.

According to TMZ:

Paulk was pulled over in Scottsdale for driving dangerously close to emergency vehicles involved in a routine stop. Cops say he failed a field sobriety test … and fessed up he’d been drinking Hennessy and smoking pot earlier in the day.

It’s not Paulk’s first legal tangle — the actor was arrested in 2013 for allegedly kicking and punching his ex-GF, but avoided jail time after cutting a plea deal.

When will these celebrities ever get it? If you’re gonna get sh*t-faced wasted at least have a designated driver. It’s not rocket science guys.

Katy Perry’s Super Bowl Choreographer: “Left Shark Nailed It!”

Contrary to popular belief, the Katy Perry dancer known simply as “Left Shark” performed the dance routine during the singer’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performance perfectly, according to her choreographer.

Katy Perry’s meme-inspiring Super Bowl Halftime Show featured a six-song medley, four costume changes, guest appearances from Missy Elliott and Lenny Kravitz and dancing sharks, palm trees and beach balls. But one dancing shark in particular (the one on the left of Perry, which the Internet appropriately named “Left Shark”) essentially stole the show.

Perry’s choreographer RJ Durrell — who orchestrated the pop star’s Super Bowl dance numbers along with Nick Florez — told The Hollywood Reporter that was done on purpose.

“The sharks were given two main objectives,” he said. “One, perform Katy’s trademark moves to the ‘Teenage Dream’ chorus, which they both did perfectly; and two, to have loads of fun, and bring to life these characters in a cartoon manner, giving them a Tweedledee/Tweedledum-type persona.”

He continued, “Clearly, that was portrayed with the overzealous shark on the right hitting precise dance moves, while the left shark was playing up the more goofy, fun-spirited sports-fan mascot type, who was just happy to be at the Super Bowl.”

Durrell added, “We love the laughter and joy this moment has created for the world and think the left shark nailed it! Don’t forget … we all have a little #leftshark in us!”

Apple Profited $18 Billion Thanks to iPhone 6 Sales

Thanks to the release of the iPhone 6 (and its bigger sibling the iPhone 6 Plus), Apple generated profits close to $20 billion (off of $74.6 billion revenue) in the fourth quarter of 2014, making the device not only Apple’s biggest phone ever in terms of screen size, but it’s biggest phone ever in terms of sales too.

Last Tuesday (Jan 27), Apple reported that they had sold 74.5 million iPhones during the last three months of 2014.

Not only is that the highest number of iPhone sales in any quarter, but that’s at least 9 million more phones than the 65 million analysts predicted they’d sell, and it’s also an increase of more than 23 million from the same period last year — a 46 percent jump.

The surge in iPhone sales lifted Apple profits to $18 billion in the quarter, up 38 percent from a year earlier. That was one of the biggest, if not the biggest, quarterly corporate profits on record.

The last three months of the year is Apple’s sweet spot. Since 2011, the company has reported record-breaking quarterly sales during that stretch. Apple sold 51 million iPhones at the end of 2013, 48 million at the end of 2012 and 37 million at the close of 2011.

Though Apple doesn’t break out sales by device, the record quarter was largely due to the new iPhone 6. And the iPhone 6’s runaway success is due partly to the appeal of its larger size — its screen is 0.7 inches larger than the screen on the iPhone 5S. The iPhone 6 Plus screen is 1.5 inches bigger than the 5S screen.

The iPhone 6 is apparently so appealing that it lured customers away from rival smartphones, including Google’s Android devices, according to Bloomberg.

It also helped that the sheer size of Apple’s market increased at the end of the year. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were the first Apple phones released after Apple signed a deal with China Mobile, opening the door to 700 million subscribers.

Tyler Perry Let Bobby Brown Use His Private Jet to Rush to Bobbi Kristina’s Side

When Tyler Perry heard the news about Bobbi Kristina being rushed to the hospital after being found unconscious lying facedown in a bathtub, the Hollywood titan reportedly offered his support to Bobby Brown by allowing the singer to use his private jet so that Brown could be by his daughter’s bedside.

“Tyler was absolutely shocked by the news,” a source tells Us Weekly. “He heard the news and immediately offered Bobby Brown a flight in his private jet, which is why they arrived at the hospital together.”

Fortunately for Bobby, Tyler was already on his way to Atlanta when they found out about Bobbi Kristina, so Perry let Bobby ride with him. “He called Bobby immediately and offered to take him,” Us Weekly’s source added.

Perry — who recently welcomed his first child with his model girlfriend Gelila Bekele last November — is said to feel “terrible” about what’s happened to Bobbi Kristina and he’s reportedly doing everything he can to offer support to her family.

“He’s been working on being a good father himself and I know he feels terrible about this situation,” the source continued. “He’s canceling his meetings and calls to be with them.”

Though their professional relationship had fallen off, Perry has always felt a connection to the celebuspawn and even offered her some acting jobs so that he could keep a close watch on her, but she turned them down in favor of spending more time with her husband

“He reached out to Bobbi a few times and they talked, but she was very much living her own life,” added Us Weekly’s source. “He offered her gigs on his shows, where he would have had a closer look at her day to day but she wanted to be with her husband.”

Bobbi Kristina’s husband Nick Gordon and a friend found Bobbi unresponsive in a filled bathtub Saturday (Jan 31). According to a police spokesperson, Gordon was performing CPR when officials arrived. Brown was rushed to Fulton hospital, where she was placed in the ICU.

Though her condition isn’t known officially, TMZ has reported that Brown had “significantly diminished” brain function after being deprived of oxygen for anywhere between two and five minutes while she was submerged in the tub.

After performing tests this morning, doctors determined that the swelling in her brain had gone down, and she’s been able to “move her eyes.”

The Houston family said the following in a statement: “Bobbi Kristina is fighting for her life and is surrounded by immediate family. As her father already stated, we are asking you to honor our request for privacy during this difficult time.”

DJ Drama Hints That Lil Wayne is Working on “Dedication 6”

After recently releasing his new mixtape ‘Sorry 4 The Wait 2,’ Wayne is already in the midst of putting out another project that is going to have fans more excited than a kid in a candy store.

Early this morning, DJ Drama posted a pic on Instagram of him, Weezy, and Mack Maine in the club with the caption, “Sorry For The Wait 2. Carter V. Dedication 6.”

We guess this is Drama’s way of letting the world known Wayne is working on ‘Dedication 6.’

However we’re not sure if it will come out after ‘Tha Carter V’ or before considering the album has no release date set and Birdman doesn’t seem like he plans on dropping it anytime soon.

2015 may end up being a good year for Weezy after all.

Is Lee Daniels Trying to Cast Denzel Washington on Empire?

Denzel Washington could be making an appearance on an upcoming episode of “Empire,” if showrunner Lee Daniels has his way.

Daniels recently shared a photo of himself and Washington on Instagram along with the caption:

Trying to talk this one into doing a guest star on #empire #nextweekdinneronme

We could definitely see Denzel playing a boss type character from Lucious’ past that puts him in check, or something like that.

If he did join the series, Washington would be joining A-listers such as Cuba Gooding Jr., Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Naomi Campbell, Lenny Kravitz, Snoop Dogg and Patti LaBelle.

According to Daniels, it would also be Washington’s first TV appearance in over 3 decades.

“Denzel hasn’t done television in 30 years,” Daniels told The Philadelphia Inquirer. “But he saw the pilot and said, ‘I’ve got to be a part of this.'”

Johnny Manziel Enters Rehab to “Improve” Himself

Another day, another celebrity in rehab.

Cleveland Browns quarterback (and Drake’s BFF) Johnny Manziel has entered a treatment facility to “improve” himself, acccording to several media outlets, including ESPN. Manziel’s advisor Brad Beckworth said in a statement:

“Johnny knows there are areas in which he needs to improve in order to be a better family member, friend and teammate, and he thought the offseason was the right time to take this step … On behalf of Johnny and his family, we’re asking for privacy until he rejoins the team in Cleveland.”

Browns general manager Ray Farmer also released a statement on the matter:

“We respect Johnny’s initiative in this decision and will fully support him throughout this process. Our players’ health and well-being will always be of the utmost importance to the Cleveland Browns.

“We continually strive to create a supportive environment and provide the appropriate resources, with our foremost focus being on the individual and not just the football player. Johnny’s privacy will be respected by us during this very important period and we hope that others will do the same.”

It’s unclear at the time what exactly Johnny is being treated for, but the NFL star is known for his hard-partying and drinking habit.

ESPN reports he is expected to be in rehab at least a few weeks, but the the amount of time depends largely on what doctors recommend.

Manziel is reportedly voluntarily entering treatment, and a “source” said he is said to have informed his friends and family last week that he wants to “figure out his value system.”

Another source told ESPN that a casino in Las Vegas offered Manziel six figures to host a Super Bowl party, but he declined.

Big kudos to Johnny for trying to get his life together.

Twitter Reacts to Katy Perry’s Elaborate Super Bowl Halftime Show Performance

Katy Perry — the world’s most followed Twitter user — performed Sunday night (Feb 1) during the Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show, which featured nearly half a dozen costume changes and special show-stealing guest appearances from Lenny Kravitz, Missy Elliott, dancing sharks and “The More You Know” logo.

Over a period of 13 minutes, Perry sang a medley of her biggest hits, including “Roar,” “Dark Horse,” “I Kissed A Girl” and “Teenage Dream.”

After bringing out Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott (but no Juicy J, unfortunately), Perry ended her set with “Firework,” complete with pyrotechnics and Perry flying around the field on a star that reminded everyone of NBC’s famous star from their “The More You Know” PSAs.

For the most part, Perry received a positive reaction for performance. USA Today felt as though she was the perfect choice for the event and she blew everyone away with the spectacle:

With the entertaining, hassle-free show, Perry proved the NFL correct in her selection as halftime — one of the few things the NFL got right this year. Perry is the world’s most followed Twitter user (64.3 million and counting) and a popular, energetic female pop star who sings songs with catchy hooks.

She’s someone in the prime of her career and adored by the NFL’s target demographic: young people. Katy Perry is what a Super Bowl halftime show should be. Rather than dragging out The Who or Tom Petty for a medley of songs that were on “Greatest Hits” albums before Katy Perry was born, get someone actually relevant today.

On the other side of the fence was Gawker, who questioned officials’ decision to choose Katy Perry as the Halftime act:

Not that much could be expected of Perry. She is the most underwhelming person to occupy the space of Massively Popular, No-Brainer Hitmaking Pop Diva since Paula Abdul, and at least Paula Abdul could dance.

She flaunts tackiness (see the infantile staging of “Teenage Dream” and “California Gurls,” which featured anthropomorphized beach balls and palm trees, as well as the aforementioned shark) like it’s aesthetic volition, when I suspect that she actually has no other choice but to be tacky and embrace it in fake-it-till-you-make-it sleight of hand.

Katy Perry did an absolutely adequate job of being Katy Perry during her Super Bowl halftime show. But we deserve much more than she could ever possibly provide.

Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart & Jimmy Fallon Compete in Lip Sync Battle

To promote their upcoming film “Get Hard,” Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart made an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” last night on Super Bowl Sunday.

During their visit on the show, Will, Kevin, and Jimmy competed in a “lip sync battle,” which is something we never knew existed until last night (LOL).

Will was the first up to perform and chose Beyonce’s “Drunk In Love” as his song. Will even pulled out a few raunchy moves from the video. TOO HILARIOUS.

Next up, Jimmy rocked the stage with Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone”, and Kevin sang John Legend’s “All of Me” to his co-star Will Ferrell, who playfully broke down into tears.

The second round of performances started off with Will Ferrell performing “Let It Go” from the movie “Frozen.” (Yes you read that right!)

Jimmy Fallon surprised the crowd and brought out Drew Barrymore to assist him with “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” (from the “Dirty Dancing” movie) and Kevin took us right back to this year’s Superbowl Halftime Show with Katy Perry’s “Roar.”

Bobbi Kristina Reportedly Doing Significantly Better, Moving Her Eyes

Bobbi Kristina Brown, the sole child of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, is reportedly doing “significantly better” in the hospital days after being found unconscious in a bathtub in her home near Atlanta.

TMZ broke the devastating news early Saturday (Jan 31):

Bobbi Kristina Brown’s husband Nick Gordon and a friend found her in the tub … according to police in Roswell, GA. We’re told her husband and friend immediately started CPR on her … until police and paramedics arrived.

We’re told police took over life-saving measures on the scene — and then she was taken by ambulance to a hospital. Doctors have now stabilized her breathing, and we’re told she is in ICU.

Details surrounding the incident haven’t been revealed, and neither hospital officials nor her family have publicly commented on her condition, though Bobby Brown did release a statement requesting privacy.

“Please allow for my family to deal with this matter and give my daughter the love and support she needs at this time,” Brown told Us Weekly.

Police conducted a preliminary search for drugs at Bobbi Kristina’s home and found nothing, TMZ reported.

Chillingly, Brown’s mother died under similar circumstances almost three years ago, accidentally drowning in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel the night before the 2012 Grammy Awards. The coroner’s report at the time stated that cocaine played a role in the iconic singer’s death.

Bobbi Kristina’s cousin Jerod Brown (Bobby Brown’s nephew), who goes by the name YF Kennedy, told E! News that “Krissy doesn’t do drugs” and she also “hasn’t been drinking.”

“We are interviewing all the family members and friends that were at the house at the time,” a police spokesperson said, according to Fox News. “We don’t know that if it was an accident or what this could be.”

Now, TMZ is reporting that Bobbi Kristina’s condition has somewhat improved, but she still has a long way to go:

Sources connected with the family tell us … doctors performed tests Monday morning and determined the swelling on her brain has gone down. In addition, she has been able to “move her eyes” … all important signs.

Perhaps most important … we’re told the oxygen levels in her brain have increased significantly — 4 times better than Sunday.

But the family has been told … because Bobbi Kristina was deprived of oxygen for anywhere between 2 to 5 minutes while she was submerged in a tub, doctors fear neurological damage.

We’re all praying Bobbi Kristina pulls through.

Ludacris’ Baby Mama Tamika Fuller Says He Asked Her for Abortion

Though Ludacris recently got married to his longtime girlfriend Eudoxie, the rapper is fighting another woman in court over custody of their 1-year-old daughter Cai Bridges, and the custody battle is getting pretty ugly.

Ludacris (real name: Christopher Bridges), who already has a 13-year-old daughter named Karma Bridges from a previous relationship, fathered a love child with a woman named Tamika Fuller while on a purported break from his then-girlfriend (now wife) Eudoxie.

Fuller recently shared a photo of Cai on Instagram, and she’s adorable:

According to TMZ, Tamika said when Luda found out she was pregnant, he wanted her to abort their unborn daughter.

Fuller said Bridges went as far as to offer her $10,000 and a house “if she lost the baby,” because he felt as though having a child with another woman would “ruin his life.”

Furthermore, Fuller feels as though Luda’s proposal and immediate marriage to Eudoxie was just a ploy to show the courts his home is more stable for Cai than hers.

For the sake of Baby Cai, we should all just get along or at least be cordial with each other.

Lil Wayne Reportedly Suing Birdman & Cash Money for $51 Million

The beef between Lil Wayne and Birdman’s Cash Money Records has taken yet another turn for the worse.

TMZ is reporting that Lil Wayne has filed a $51 million lawsuit against his longtime rap mentor and surrogate father Bryan “Birdman” Williams and his Cash Money label on claims that they violated their longtime contractual agreement by not releasing ‘Tha Carter V.’

Wayne’s lawsuit also claims Birdman violated the terms of their deal by withholding tens of millions of dollars owed to him for the oft-delayed project. Since Cash Money refuses to pay up, Wayne believes it is within his power to cancel the contract.

In addition to the money and his freedom, Wayne also reportedly wants the judge to give him joint ownership of all Young Money recordings, including tracks from Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tyga and several others … plus he wants to take his Young Money artists with him so that they remain under his control.

If Birdman pays up, however, Wayne’s camp will allow Cash Money to release C5.

Wayne said Birdman promised him $8 million when he started recording the album in December 2013, and another $2 million when he completed the album a year later, but so far, he hasn’t received a penny for the project.

Porn Star Mia Khalifa Claims Drake Tried to Slide Into Her Instagram DMs: “The Whole Thing Was Cringeworthy”

Adult film star Mia Khalifa — who was announced last month as the “currently #1 ranked pornstar on Pornhub” — has outed a celebrity for trying to hook up with her through social media, specifically Instagram.

In a recent interview with CBS Miami radio station WQAM, Khalifa revealed that a famous person with a name that rhymes with “Rake” attempted to slide into her Instagram DMs, but to no avail.

WQAM: What famous person has tried to contact you?

MIA: Oh I would never reveal that?

WQAM: You can blow ‘em up, don’t worry.

MIA: No way, I would never reveal that, that’s rude.

WQAM: Give me a name it rhymes with?

MIA: Oh my God, it rhymes with “Rake.”

WQAM: WHAT?!

Without doing too much thinking, it’s obvious she’s talking about the world-famous rapper Drake.

Mia Khalifa went on to say that Drake (or “Rake”) sent her a half-naked picture of himself and she called the whole thing “cringeworthy.”

“It was flattering, but his intentions were obviously clear,” Khalifa said. “It was so cringeworthy.”

When the radio host joked that he imagined “Rake” would probably send a photo of himself “that was him just laying on the bed shirtless kind of sad looking,” Khalifa laughed and said he was about “halfway there.”

Benzino doesn’t feel safe anywhere. Not even at the airport, apparently.

If you can recall … Benzino aka “No Neck” had a really tough year in 2014.

From being shot by his nephew on the way to his mother’s funeral, to getting kicked off “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” (albeit for allegedly making death threats against his former bestie Stevie J,  Joseline Hernandez, and the show’s producers) … the guy just could not catch a break last year.

Well it’s 2015 now and it appears much hasn’t changed in Benzino’s life. He’s still fearing for his safety and making dumb decisions in the process.

According to TMZ, Benzino was arrested Tuesday evening at the airport in Atlanta after employees found a gun in his carry-on bag.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, Benzino put his carry-on bag on the conveyor belt at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. A suspicious TSA employee dug inside and found a loaded 9 millimeter firearm with 7 rounds in the magazine.

Benzino didn’t make his flight to L.A., but he did get his very own escort to the local jail. He was released on $3K bail.

We don’t think Benzino is a bad person at all, and while he has the right to defend himself in any situation, trying to carry a loaded handgun on an airplane is just plain stupid! It doesn’t take rocket science to know that’s not a good idea.

Kobe Bryant Reveals He Wanted to Play with Michael Jordan on the Washington Wizards

Throughout his illustrious NBA career, Kobe Bryant has been compared to his idol Michael Jordan, and he recently revealed in an interview with The Washington Post that he had plans to play with Jordan when the basketball legend was with the Washington Wizards.

Over a decade ago, Kobe Bryant planned to leave the Los Angeles Lakers to play for the Wizards, where Jordan was winding down his career.

“That’s true,” Bryant told the Post. “A long time ago? Yeah.”

Said Bryant, “I’ve always been very big on having mentors, on having muses, and I’ve been really, really big on that, being around guys who have done it before and done it at a high level and always tried to pick their brains and always tried to absorb knowledge. Obviously, being in that situation [with the Wizards], it would’ve helped having to be around him every day and so on.”

A Bryant-Jordan scenario as teammates all fell apart when then-Wizards owner Abe Pollin parted ways with Jordan in 2003, a year before Bryant became a free agent.

“We would’ve put together a great team and we would’ve won championships,” Bryant told The Post.

Bryant also said a key reason he wanted to leave L.A. was his well-known feud with then-teammate Shaquille O’Neal, a three-time Finals MVP from 2000-02.

“The challenge had been thrown down upon me, of not being able to win without Shaq,” Bryant said. “A public challenge never really bothered me too much, but he made a couple of comments as well. I think he called me Penny Hardaway Part 2 or something like that. So that’s what [ticked] me off,” Bryant said.

“Then it was like, ‘Listen, you know the step back that I took to help us win championships. Let’s not get [expletive] confused. I can dominate on my own. I decided to stay here and win championships and sacrifice MVPs and scoring titles and all that stuff.’ So once that was said, it was like a line in the sand now.”

Kobe has won five NBA champions with the Lakers, and though he’s working hard at winning his sixth, he’s expected to miss the rest of this season to recover from surgery after tearing the rotator cuff in his right arm.

“I expect Kobe to make a full recovery and if all goes as expected, he should be ready for the start of the season,” Bryant’s surgeon Neal ElAttrache said.
