Kanye West & Dame Dash Reunited at the 2015 BET Honors

Kanye West and his old label boss Damon “Dame” Dash reunited over the weekend at the 2015 BET Honors when the music executive presented the rapper with the “Honorary Visionary” award.

The show, which was recorded Saturday (Jan 24) in Washington, D.C., won’t air until February 29th, but social media has provided enough details to hold us over until then.

Dame Dash is known as the guy who first believed in Kanye and convinced Jay Z to sign him to Roc A Fella Records in the early 2000’s … and he used his introduction for Ye as an opportunity to remind everyone of that, saying, “I like to take a lot of credit for what Kanye is today.”

In his introduction for Kanye, which followed an honorary video that was shown featuring Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar, Common and Kim Kardashian, Dame revealed he still has issues with the Chicago-based emcee and he originally didn’t have respect for ‘Ye as a rapper.

“I understand what it is to be humbled for the first time,” Kanye said in his acceptance speech.

Kanye West and Dash Dash haven’t spoken since Dash fell out with Jay Z in 2005 after Roc-A-Fella was sold to Island Def Jam, but they appeared to be on cordial terms at the BET Honors, with a toothless Dame posting photos of the two together (along with Kim Kardashian and Dame’s daughter Ava) on his Instagram page.

As for Dame’s gap-toothed smile, he’s been dealing with that for a few weeks now, apparently.

Mya Clowned on Social Media Over Random Strip Club Performance

We all need money to survive, and just because the checks stop coming in doesn’t mean that bills do. That’s probably why R&B singer Mya booked a gig at a Miami strip club over the weekend.

After teasing new music on Instagram, the 35-year-old took her talents to Miami’s G5ive strip club to perform new and old songs, and show off some dance moves.

Video clips posted online show Mya gyrating across the stage as dollar bills are thrown at her while she sings a new song called “Moving On.”

At one point the sexy (but fully clothed) singer even joins the strippers, twerking, dropping it low and falling into a split.

Naturally, folks took to social media to comment on Mya’s dance moves, including Bow Wow, who had more than a few things to say on Facebook.

“Mya is a stripper now? If not who advised that it was smart to perform and dance on the stripper stage,” the former 106 & Park host wrote on his official page. “I cant stop laughing at the video my homie sent me of mya on the stripper stage dancing. Im like why though? Haha Hell she coulda borrowed that 1500 performance fee from the local D boy if it was that serious,” he added.

“Basketball Wives L.A.” star Brooke Bailey also chimed in, writing beneath one performance clip on Instagram: “She looks so dumb.”

Others shared Bow Wow and Brooke Bailey’s sentiments, but some people defended the singer and her right to make her dollars on any stage, strip club or not … because at the end of the day, a check is a check.

One user wrote: “Beyonce can bust it open at the Grammys on national TV but Mya is ridiculed for doing the same thing in a strip club?? NAH!”

Another tweeted: “Mya is Beautiful and she has/had talent so I don’t understand why she hitting all the Stripper dances on Stage at the Strip Club, Just Sing!”

After catching wind of the negative comments on social media, Mya addressed her critics, saying she’s “been” performing at strip clubs and this is nothing new:

“I am whatever I choose to be when I choose to be it. The joy of life. Live it. Been doin’ strip clubs, LGBT clubs, dance clubs, straight clubs, concerts, festivals since 1998 to date. I love all my fans and it don’t stop. Instagram generation is late as hell.”

Pharrell Williams and His Big Hat to Appear on “The Simpsons”

“The Simpsons” is known for snagging the biggest names in entertainment — from Katy Perry to Kelsey Grammer to Dustin Hoffman — and now you can add Pharrell Williams to the incredibly long list of stars who have appeared on the long-running Fox series.

According to EW, the “Happy” producer/rapper/singer/fashion designer/”Voice” coach/all around awesome person will appear in an episode titled “Walking Big & Tall” on February 8th.

The episode will see Pharrell offering to write an anthem for Springfield after the town finds out their original song is a carbon copy of many other cities’

And judging by the preview image, it looks like his hat will be its own character too. Notice how his hat’s creases form into a smiley face? Those clever Simpsons animators!

Kanye West Politely Refuses to Sign Photo of Kim from Wedding to Kris Humphries

Well I’ll be damned. Kanye West is finally starting to act his age and wear his big boy pants the right way.

After arriving to Washington D.C. on Sunday (Jan 25), Kanye was “tried” by a random guy who asked the rapper to autograph a picture of his wife Kim Kardashian, which actually turned out to be a photo from Kim’s wedding to Kris Humphries.

Instead of having one of his regular temper tantrums — or giving the guy a 40-minute lecture about how he’s a god and how we shouldn’t have ever let Michael Jordan play for the Wizzards — Kanye just smiled and politely refused to sign the magazine cover, saying, “Nah, man, you just put out the wrong picture!”

Kim also happened to be there and seemed totally unbothered considering her hubby handled himself very well.

Lil Wayne Preparing to Sue Birdman for $8 Million?

Lil Wayne’s public feud with Birdman and Cash Money Records has gone from Twitter to wax, and now possibly court. TMZ is reporting that Weezy could be preparing to sue his “daddy” for $8 million.

The news should come as no surprise to those who have been watching this situation closely as both parties have been going back-and-forth for weeks over the release of Wayne’s next album ‘Tha Carter V.’

According to TMZ, Tunechi and Birdman tried working things out last week, but because they can’t come to a mutual agreement, Wayne is ready to take his longtime mentor to court, where he’ll ask a judge to free him from his Cash Money contract and the control Birdman has over him because of said contract.

Wayne’s stance is that Birdman violated their contractual agreement by not releasing Carter V, and the $8 million he’s suing for is his promised advance for the album.

As The Smoking Section points out, if they do go to court, all of the dirty laundry Cash Money has collected over the yearscould be brought to the forefront, in regards to their unscrupulous business dealings and a number of artists and producers not receiving money for their work.

For Birdman’s part, he has yet to address the situation publicly, but someone within the camp told TMZ he’s pissed at Wayne for airing out their issues on social media and in his lyrics.

Birdman has reportedly assured fans that ‘Tha Carter V’ will come out when it’s time. But obviously that’s not good enough for Wayne because he wants the album out not now, but right now, which is why he even put together ‘Sorry 4 the Wait 2’ in the first place.

Lil Wayne also says he’ll continue to release music, with or without the label he’s been signed to since he was nine years old.

Ryan Murphy has obviously been keeping details about the new season under wraps (like he does with every season), however, FX Networks CEO John Landgraf told TV Line it was his “hope” that the series would return to the present day, like the first (and arguably the best) season “Murder House.”

Meet the Male R&B Singer With Hips & Thighs Thicker Than K. Michelle’s

Just when you thought it was impossible to be shocked on the Internet comes news of a brand new, up and coming male R&B singer named Micah who is getting a ton of attention online and on social media for all of the junk he’s storing in his trunk.

The 20-year-old’s purported “thickness” is being compared to K. Michelle and Nicki Minaj and “every other big booty female you know and love,” Black Media Scoop reports.

No one knows whether this guy’s “curves” are simply padding, surgically enhanced, or natural, but considering men absolutely CANNOT produce “natural” curves like that, he’s probably either working with option number one or two … or a little bit of both.

Jennifer Lopez made an appearance on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” on Thursday (Jan 22) and when asked between Britney Spears and Mariah Carey, which one she would rather go see perform live in Las Vegas for their respective residencies, Lopez served up the best shade-filled answer ever.

“Britney, ’cause she dances.”

Ouch! Burn!

And what makes this even worse is the fact that Britney, who used to dance like no other, now dances like your drunk auntie at the family reunion when she’s waiting for the ribs to finish cooking on the grill. So was she shading Brit-Brit too? Possibly.

But the shade-throwing didn’t stop there. When discussing her taste in men, she was obviously talking about her ex husband Marc Anthony and possibly her ex boyfriend Casper Smart too:

Are Young Thug & Lil Wayne Fighting for Birdman’s Affection?

Based on recent social media postings, Young Thug and Lil Wayne appear to be fighting over Birdman’s affection. As Momma Dee would say, “It’s a shake-up in the palace and all the chambermaids are running amok!”

It’s assumed that the “lil bitty bitch” Thug is referring to is Lil Wayne, the same guy he said was a major musical influence for him. Is he firing shots? Probably.

For years, we’ve all considered Lil Wayne to be Birdman’s “bottom bitch.” For the uninitiated, the Urban Dictionary defines a “bottom bitch” as such:

A bottom girl, a bottom woman or bottom bitch, sits atop the hierarchy of prostitutes working for a particular pimp. A bottom girl is usually the prostitute who has been with the pimp the longest and consistently makes the most money. Being the bottom girl gives the prostitute status and power over the other women working for her pimp. However, the bottom girl also bears many responsibilities.

Apparently, Lil Wayne has not been fulfilling his duty as Cash Money’s “bottom bitch,” so Birdman the Pimp has been forced to hit the streets in an effort find someone else to fill the coveted position. That’s where Young Thug comes in.

Last year, following the success of his hit singles “Danny Glover” and “Stoner,” Birdman recruited Young Thug to join his Rich Gang collective, along with Thug’s hubbie Rich Homie Quan, under the management division.

Now, after watching Birdman release hundreds of songs and videos from Thug and Quan, Lil Wayne is feeling slighted because he can’t get his own album released. He’s been demoted to sidechick and he doesn’t want to play that position after being the bottom bitch for so long. Who would?

Now that Lil Wayne knows Young Thug has been handed his own keys to what Wayne feels is his empire, he’s lashing out.

Take these lyrics from the opening song on his newest mixtape “Sorry 4 the Wait 2” for example:

According to TMZ, Birdman is far from pleased with Wayne’s mixtape, especially the lyrics above, and he feels “disrespected.” He’s reportedly doing everything in his power to prevent Wayne from getting out of his Cash Money contract and he only plans to release ‘Tha Carter V’ on his terms, not Wayne’s.

Meanwhile, Young Thug gets to release new music every other day and you can bet Birdman would never make him wait to put out his album.

Birdman Isn’t A Fan of Lil Wayne’s “Sorry 4 The Wait 2” Mixtape, Obviously

It sounds like Weezy got under his daddy Birdman’s skin with the release of his latest mixtape ‘Sorry 4 The Wait 2,’ and we can’t say that we’re surprised.

Sources close to Cash Money say Birdman was angry over Wayne disrespecting him on his remix to “CoCo,” and he’s going to do everything possible to prevent Wayne from leaving the label, which is a hella childish move on Birdman’s part.

On the track, Wayne raps:

“Who kept this sh*t together? N**ga me, that’s who / Who was there when n**gas left? N**ga me / That’s who … Cash Money is an army, I’m a one man army.”

TMZ reports:

Our sources say Birdman is angry on 2 fronts … that Wayne is trying to bail on a binding contract and even more personal, he’s putting their relationship on blast.

Wayne’s song, “I’m Sorry for the Wait,” is especially galling to Birdman because he feels the man he calls “son” is treating him like some random producer.

As we reported, lawyers and others for Wayne and Birdman are in talks, but Wayne has threatened a lawsuit if his album isn’t released.

Our Birdman sources say the mogul won’t budge and will only release the album on his terms. And he will fight Wayne if he sues to get out of his contract.

We all know business is business … but Birdman is starting to look more like a scorned lover than a businessman with this whole “I’m not letting Weezy go until i feel like it” bull crap. Let the man live for Christ’s sake!

John Travolta & His New Friend Explain 3 A.M. Gym Encounter

So what exactly was John Travolta doing in that gym at three in the morning?

Travolta made headlines last week when he was captured in a photo shortly after introducing himself to a male stranger at the gym, where they were all alone, together, at 3 a.m … which is totally not unusual at all.

Now John and his new friend are explaining exactly what happened in that gym, where they were all alone, together, at 3 a.m.

“[I work out] for my health… as you get older, if you have kids that are young – I mean, my son’s 4 and my daughter’s 14. I should be really a grandfather, but I’m a father,” John told Access Hollywood at the Living Legend Aviation Awards Friday (Jan 16). “They still want me to play with them at the level of a much younger man. So in order to stay healthy for them, that’s what I do.”

Whatever you say, John. WHATEVER YOU SAY.

Meanwhile, this is John’s new friend Justin Jones’ story, as told by the National Enquirer:

It took the married dad of two stepdaughters just minutes to believe that John was keen on meeting him, based on his “body language” and questions.

“I was completely aware of what was happening,” said Justin. “He just walks right up to me and introduces himself – ‘Hi, I’m John.’”

Man Who Was Trapped Between Two Semi-Trucks Shares Survival Story

A Washington man driving through Oregon made headlines over the weekend after he miraculously survived being trapped between two semi trucks on the highway, and now he’s proudly sharing his story of survival.

27-year-old Kaleb Whitby was pictured after the accident Saturday (Jan 17) and can be seen in his crushed Chevy Silverado pickup wedged between two semi trucks on I-84 in Oregeon.

The photo quickly went viral because of its harrowing nature and the fact that Whitby walked away with no serious injuries: a bruise on his left eyebrow and a few scratches on his right hand.

“I’ve got two Band-Aids on my right ring finger,” he said. “And a little bit of ice on my left eye.”

Whitby said he was on his way home in Washington to Council, Idaho for business when he came across dense fog on I-84 and couldn’t stop due to the icy roads, which caused him to slam into a semi truck. Not too long after, another semi truck slammed into the back of his vehicle.

“He hit it with such force that it ended up swinging back end of my pickup underneath that truck I hit,” said Whitby. “When I finally came to a stop I just remember all the crunching and all of a sudden just the stop, it was just done.”

“I was so close to both trucks that I could touch them at the same time,” he told People. “It was pretty unreal.”

According to The Oregonian, more than 100 others were involved in the pileup, and at least three separate collisions involving more than 20 vehicles, most of them semi trucks, injured a dozen or so people.

Whitby told CNN’s “New Day” he’s a man of faith and he thanked God for his survival.

“I do believe, and I’m very firm in that, and I just held on to the wheel as tight as I could, tucked my head and just kept praying the whole time. After he hit, I just hoped that it would be over with soon,” he said.

He added, “I don’t have the answers, and if I did, I probably wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now. When things like that happen, and what I’ve kinda come to realize, is that it is a miracle and that I need to take that into my life and remember it, and now I need to figure out who I need to be in this life and what I need to accomplish … Because how many people don’t get the chance — a second chance — at escaping a situation like that?”

Teen Kills Classmate for Sending His Girlfriend Snapchat Messages

A South Carolina teen is being charged with murder after killing his classmate for sending his girlfriend messages on the popular social app known as Snapchat.

17-year-old Matthew Fischer (pictured above) became angry when he noticed another teen at his school, 16-year-old Lucas Cavanaugh, had sent his girlfriend a message via the app.

Fischer then went on to message Cavanaugh back and told him “Come over” and “I’ll kill you man.”

According to Global Grind (via NY Daily News), Cavanaugh drove over to Fischer’s girlfriend house in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina and the two teens got into a fight.

While fighting, Fisher pulled out a knife and stabbed Cavanaugh in the torso before fleeing the scene.

Both teens were juniors at Wando High School.

In addition to murder, Fischer is also being charged with possession of a knife during commission of a violent crime.

Fox Renews “Empire” for Another Season After Just Two Episodes

Get ready for more vintage 70’s chic attire and suede loafers from Terrence Howard, because Fox has renewed “Empire” for a second season!

The move comes as a surprise, not because it happened, but because of how quickly it did. Shows aren’t generally renewed after just two episodes have aired, but “Empire” isn’t just your average TV series.

With 9.9 million viewers, Empire’s premiere episode tied “How to Get Away with Murder” as the season’s highest-rated series debut among the coveted 18-49 demographic.

And if that wasn’t enough to shock the industry, the second episode actually rose in the ratings (with 10.3 million viewers), which is rare, especially after a strong debut. (FYI: Empire is the only drama to rise in its second week this season AND it’s Fox’s highest rated show to debut in 3 years.)

“Empire” stars Terrence Howard as former drug dealer turned music mogul/CEO Lucious Lyon and Taraji P. Henson as Cookie Lyon — Lucious’ outspoken ex-wife and the mother his three sons Andre Lyon (Trai Byers), Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) and Hakeem Lyon (Bryshere Gray).

The show airs Wednesday nights at 9/8c on Fox.
