MMA Fighter Kimbo Slice Dead at 42

The mixed martial arts fighter known as Kimbo Slice has died. He was 42 years old.

TMZ Sports reported late Monday night (Jun 6) that Slice was in “dire condition” at a hospital in florida and they followed up a few hours later to confirmed the news that he had passed away.

As for the details about his death (e.g. how he died), TMZ says they’re “working on it.” Meanwhile, police are reportedly “at his home gathering information from family members.”

Kimbo Slice (born: Kevin Ferguson) became famous for his backyard fighting videos back in 2003 and quickly became an Internet sensation, years before today’s social media craze.

Back in 2003, Kimbo Slice became in Internet sensation for his popular backyard fighting videos back in 2003, years before YouTube even came out, leading Rolling Stone to eventually call him “The King of Web Brawlers” in 2006.

Kimbo’s last fight was back in February when he defeated Dada 5000, but officials overturned the victory after Slice tested positive for a banned steroid.

In 2009, Slice competed on “The Ultimate Fighter,” and while his MMA career never really took off, he was undefeated as a boxer with a record of 7-0.

At the time of his death, Kimbo Slice was living with his family in Coral Springs, Florida. He leaves behind six children (three boys and three girls) along with his fiancée, Antoinette Ray.

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’s Tammy Rivera Breaks Up with Waka Flocka

And it looks like it’s splitsville for another Love & Hip Hop Atlanta couple.

After Stevie J and Joseline went total apeshit on each other last night on social media, Tammy Rivera and her husband Waka Flocka have reportedly broken up and it’s rumored to be over infidelity issues.

Earlier today, Tammy posted a cryptic message on Instagram, hinting there was trouble in paradise.

“Not everyone you lose is a loss. Unless it’s me then you f****d up,” she wrote.

Tammy later officially confirmed things were over between her and Flocka when a fan commented under a fan’s comment saying “Waka is lucky,” to which Tammy responded “Was lucky.”

This isn’t the first time, breakup rumors have plagued the couple, who have been on the outs before over Waka’s cheating ways.

Tammy and Waka have been married for two years and in January shared photos of them celebrating their anniversary together on IG.

Hopefully these two won’t get divorced and find a way to work whatever is going on out.

Confusion & Chaos Surround “Secret” Kanye West Show That Never Happened

For any haters who may think Kanye West’s sense of self-worth is a tad overinflated and possibly undeserved, boy, have we got news for you.

After the singer’s headlining performance at the Governor’s Ball was cancelled (the three-day lineup was scrapped due to inclement weather), Kanye was rumored to be performing a “secret” show early Monday morning (Jun 6) at Webster Hall in New York City’s East Village.

Throngs of people (roughly 4,000) descended upon the venue around 1 a.m., creating what one observer called “near-riot” conditions. No violence was reported, just a lot of enthusiastic music fans flocking the streets, standing on top of cars and chanting “Pablo,” “Kanye,” “F*ck the Governors Ball,” and a few “F*ck Donald Trumps” thrown in for good measure.

The concert appeared to be news to the proprietors of the proposed venue, and revelers hopes were dashed at 1:45 a.m. when the official Webster Hall Twitter account announced there was no concert in the works.

Just an hour earlier, Kanye tweeted his show was sold out but failed to give details regarding the venue.

https://twitter.com/kanyewest/status/739683751127568384

Fans had no reason to doubt Kanye’s promise of a pop-up performance. Kanye thrilled attendees when he made an unscheduled performance along with several artists signed to his G.O.O.D. music label during Hot 97’s summer jam.

Kanye and Kim Kardashian were spotted in the East Village, and Kardashian live-streamed footage of her husband making calls to try and find another venue, according to Billboard Magazine. Kanye also deigned to wave to a few of his loyal subjects from the sunroof of his car.

No hard feelings Kanye, you gave it a shot.

Like Father Like Son? Stanford Rapist’s Dad Defends Him in Letter to Judge

Dan Turner, father of former Stanford University student and convicted rapist Brock Turner, wrote a letter to the judge following his son’s recent sentencing. Brock Turner received six months in a county jail with probation after sexually assaulting an unconscious woman outside a campus fraternity house last year.

In the document, Turner states that his son is paying a “steep” price for “20 minutes of action.” Many consider Brock’s sentence to be too lenient, especially since prosecutors asked the former swimmer serve at least six years.

“The punishment does not fit the crime,” said District Attorney Jeff Rosen. “The sentence does not factor in the true seriousness of this sexual assault, or the victim’s ongoing trauma. Campus rape is no different than off-campus rape. Rape is rape.”

In the letter, Turner also describes how recent events have adversely affected Brock’s life, including his son’s lack of appetite, and the young man being constantly “consumed with worry, anxiety, fear and depression.” (Yeah, the idea of going to prison can do that to a person.)

Turner has his own ideas about what constitutes justice, suggesting Brock’s time would be better spent “educating other college age students about the dangers of alcohol consumption and sexual promiscuity.” Turner fails to even mention the word rape in connection with Brock and downplays his son’s actions as nothing more than an overzealous sexcapade.

The letter was posted to Twitter by Michele Dauber, a law professor at Stanford. Dauber has been instrumental in developing the university’s new and more stringent policies regarding punitive measures when it comes to sexual assault on campus.

The victim drafted her own letter which she read to Brock Turner during his trial. She stated the assault has left her “closed off,” “angry” and “empty.” She also cited the trauma of having her sex life dissected by the authorities.

Turner’s letter attempts to paint his son as the injured party and takes umbrage to the fact that his son will now be a registered sex offender. The sense of self-entitlement is shocking, especially since Judge Aaron Persky gave Brock Turner nothing more than a slap on the wrist due to his age and lack of any priors.

In his decision, Persky stated, “A prison sentence would have a severe impact on him … I think he will not be a danger to others.”

Dan Turner may feel his son has suffered enough, but what about the young woman whose attacker will be back on the streets within weeks?

Little Girl Dressed Up As Hot Dog Princess Is the Hero Inside of All of Us

Not every little girl dreams of being a princess. Some would prefer to be America’s favorite processed meat product instead.

During a princess-themed dance class, one young lady decided to forego the frills and don a hot dog costume instead. Now #hotdogprincess is trending on Twitter.

It’s doubtful this prima ballerina-in-training was consciously making a political statement about society encouraging young girls to emulate outdated role models who are valued for their beauty and femininity more than their brains. It’s more likely she just prefers to dance to the beat “meat” of her own drum.

Her dad took to Twitter to comment on his daughter’s burgeoning popularity.

The world would be a much better place if we could all just embrace our inner wiener.

Steph and LeBron Couldn’t Control Their Emotions on the Bench During Game 2 of the 2016 NBA Finals

Last night’s 110-77 Warriors victory was a rout in the truest sense of the word. Two games in, and LeBron James’ hope of bringing his title-hungry hometown a championship is growing slimmer and slimmer. Maybe the home court advantage will bolster their play and make the games at least somewhat competitive, but with the entire Warriors team playing well, it isn’t looking good.

And while LeBron and the Cavaliers languish in the offensive onslaught of Golden State, Steph Curry and squad are having the time of their lives as they cruise to back-to-back ‘ships. Apparently, winning is a lot more fun than losing as evidenced by the reactions of the sport’s two biggest stars.

First, Curry:

And now, LeBron:

https://twitter.com/_MarcusD_/status/739639122361475072

Barring some big changes on the Cavaliers part, I think it’s safe to say we’re in for some more over the top celebrations from Steph and crew over the next week.

Miss USA 2016 Deshauna Barber: 7 Things You Need to Know

Ladies and gentlemen, meet your new Miss USA, Deshauna Barber!

On Sunday night (Jun 5) in Las Vegas, Miss District of Columbia USA Deshauna Barber slayed the competition and was officially crowned Miss USA 2016.

Though with a background in the military, Deshauna Barber is NOT your average Miss USA, and her purpose in joining this year’s pageant was to shatter stereotypes for not only female soldiers, but also beauty pageants.

Below are 7 facts you need to know about Miss USA 2016 Deshauna Barber.

1Deshauna Barber is from D.C. but, as a military brat, she has lived all over the country

Epitomizing the title “Miss America” due to her father’s career in the military, as a child, Barber has lived in many states all over the country, including North Carolina, Nebraska, Minnesota, Virginia, and, finally, Washington D.C. Her dad was deployed to Iraq following the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001

2Barber is an Army Officer and IT Analyst

Following in the footsteps of her father, Deshauna joined the Army at the age of 17.

After graduating from Virginia State University with a degree in business management, Barber was commissioned as a Quartermaster Officer in 2011. She is now a Logistics Commander for the 988th Quartermaster Detachment Unit at Fort Meade, Maryland while working full-time as an IT analyst for the U.S. Department of Commerce.

In addition to herself and her father, Barber also has siblings who are in the military. “I consider it to be a family tradition,” she said during a pre-show interview. “It’s something that runs through our veins — patriotism and service for this country.”

3Deshauna wanted to break stereotypes by participating in the Miss USA 2016 pageant

Barber is the first-ever military service member to be crowned Miss USA, and one of her goals in participating in this pageant was to break stereotypes. She wrote in the caption of a photo she posted to Instagram last month:

I am ready to break the stereotype for female soldiers and bust through the pageantry glass ceiling that has been laid over the heads of this industry. Time to show that we as women are versatile, strong and can be anything we set our minds to!

In another IG caption just hours before the pageant, she shared:

No matter happens in 2.5 hours, I am thankful to have represented the District Of Columbia and Military Service Women around the world on the Miss USA stage. The stereotype for Women In The Military is OFFICIALLY BROKEN. The stereotype for Pageant Women is OFFICIALLY BROKEN *Drops Mic*

This is what she told the Washington Post about breaking stereotypes in her pre-pageant interview:

“I’m being able to say that no one pageant girl does the same thing or has the same background, and I’m also saying that no one soldier has the same background and does the same thing. We can be feminine, we can be in beauty contests, we can be models. So there’s stereotypes on both sides that I feel like I’m breaking by even being here and being able to compete for Miss USA.”

During the pageant, Deshauna was asked about gender equality in the military, and whether the Pentagon’s decision to open up all military combat roles to women “put political correctness over our military’s ability to perform.”

She responded, “As a woman in the United States Army, I think it was an amazing job by our government to allow women to integrate into every branch of the military.” She added, “We are just as tough as men. As a commander of my unit, I’m powerful, I am dedicated and it is important that we recognize that gender does not limit us in the United States.”

4Barber wants to use her platform to raise awareness for PTSD in military vets

Now that she is Miss USA, Barber hopes to use her platform to put a spotlight on the various health issues veterans face when they return home from combat, such as PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).

“It’s so important, I know that when veterans and soldiers return from being deployed, sometimes they have those hidden scars that aren’t necessarily physical,” Barber told Fox 5 D.C in an interview. “And I think it’s important to make sure that they have the resources they need to get through PTSD, to get through those mental battles.”

5She is a sorority sister

Deshauna Barber is a member of the Sigma Ghamma Rho Sorority.

Established in 1922 at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana and with a membership of over 85,000 women, according to their website, Sigma Gamma Rho’s mission is to “enhance the quality of life for women and their families in the U.S. and globally through community service” and their goal is to “achieve greater progress in the areas of education, healthcare, and leadership development.” The website continues, “Our members, affiliates, staff and community partners work to create and support initiatives that align with our vision.”

The sorority, which has over 500 chapters across the country, posted a congratulatory message to Barber Monday morning (Jun 6).

6She inherited her crown from 2015 Winner, Miss Oklahoma Olivia Jordan

After crowning the 2016 Miss USA, last year’s winner, Miss Oklahoma Olivia Jordan wrote on Instagram:

I have so much love for our new #MissUSA and all that lies ahead for [her]. I have no doubt with your passion, your patriotism and your powerful voice, you will change the world. xoxo, former Miss USA

The day before the pageant, Olivia Jordan, wrote on IG that she was “unbelievably grateful for you all and for the most unforgettable year of my life.”

7Deshauna Barber will compete for Miss Universe 2016

Now that she has been crowned Miss USA, Barber will represent the United States later this year at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant, where she will compete with other women from all over the world to take the crown from Pia Wurtzbach.

In case you forgot, Wurtzbach, a 26-year-old actress from the Philippines, was crowned Miss Universe 2015 last December after host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez as the winner.

Cleveland Fans on Twitter: “LeBron Needs Help!”

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers suffered their second straight loss against Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors in Game 2 the 2016 NBA Finals Sunday night (Jun 4), with a final score of 77 to 110.

In Game 1, the final score was 89 (Cleveland) to 104 (Golden State). These are absolutely terrible final scores for the first two games, signaling that LeBron could lose his second straight Finals after leaving the Miami Heat in 2014.

And the way Cleveland has been playing so far, Golden State could very well sweep them and win Game 4 … IN CLEVELAND. The odds are already in the Warriors’ favor to win the series, but if the Cavaliers want to at least make it past four games, they need to tighten up, and fast.

So what does LeBron and his team need to help propel them beyond their 2-game deficit?

According to Cleveland/LeBron fans and apologists on Twitter, the Cavaliers need help. Or, more specifically, “Lebron needs help.”

Stevie J and Joseline Hernandez Go Nuclear on Each Other on Instagram

It’s no secret that Stevie J and Joseline Hernandez have had their ups and downs in their relationship. But baby, this latest break-up seems like it might be for good because it’s hard to take back the war of words that are flying between these two.

Let’s rewind to how it all started. Joseline Hernandez went to Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 and participated in an interview where she aired Stevie out for denying that they were ever married.

We are separated and we are married and that’s what guys do when they get upset, they lie, they go on tour and instead of announcing their new music when they havnt had on the air in 20 years + plus, you go on tour and disclaim your beautiful wife thats been nothing but good to him. I’ve been nothing but great to you, I’ve been a great wife to him, I’ve been cheated on, lied to and I stood by him…and when I packed up and I left the home, the best thing you can go on tour and start disclaiming your wife…you look like a sucka…real men don’t do that, if you gon go on the radio, have a hot song, don’t call the radio station on no stupid shit…

Stevie caught wind of Joseline’s comments and wound up his petty real good and decided to take aim and threw a fastball right at Joseline’s head on Instagram.

So Stevie not only denied that Joseline and he were ever married, but he also trashed Joseline’s music. Now no one is out here claiming Joseline as anybody’s Nicki Minaj, but considering Stevie J was her manager and her one-time champion, these are stinging words coming from his mouth.

His words clearly cut deep too, because Joseline went on an absolute tirade on Instagram, posting threats that she would out Stevie as gay and then she straight up threatened Stevie’s life posting pictures of various women (Lindsay Lohan and Pam Grier) with guns.

So … to Mona and the folks at VH1, y’all might could need some serious extra security at the Love & Hip Hop Atlanta reunion this year because Joseline Hernandez is taking NO prisoners. The Puerto Rican Princess is FINNA BE LIT, bruh!

America Does Not Need Another Kardashian Reality Show

It turns out America has something to fear more than fear itself, or even Donald Trump. Rob Kardashian and his fiancee, Blac Chyna, are getting their own reality show, according to E!.

This is the same network that has brought us Keeping Up With the Kardashians (KUWTK) and the spin-offs Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami, Kourtney & Khloe Take New York, Khloe & Lamar and Kourtney & Khloe Take the Hamptons. Thanks to E!, you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a member of the bodacious-booty-ed clan.

The new docu-series, tentatively titled Rob & Chyna, will chronicle the whirlwind “romance” of the happy couple from their engagement, to Chyna’s pregnancy and all the cringe-worthy moments in between. The duo will also work as co-executive producers on the show.

Just in case six mind-numbing hours showcasing the life of a “video vixen” and overprivileged slacker baby daddy isn’t enough to have you running out for Mylanta, plans are also in the works for a separate special, focusing on the birth of the couple’s first child and latest Kardashian scion.

Season 9 marked the beginning of the end of Rob’s onscreen presence on KUWTK. He went largely and inexplicably M.I.A.. There were rumors of depression, health issues (he’s since been diagnosed with diabetes) and weight gain. Rob skipped out on sister Kim’s lavish wedding to music mogul Kanye West, and in March of 2015, he compared Kim to Rosamund Pike’s homicidal character in the film Gone Girl. While his sisters and mother voiced concern, Rob’s Howard Hughes-like behavior was never fully explored or discussed.

Rob’s return to the spotlight can almost be entirely attributed to his romance with Chyna, who also happens to be the ex-paramour of rapper Tyga, Kylie Jenner’s on-again, off-again love interest. Let’s face it, the only differences between the Kardashians and Honey Boo Boo, Mama June and their disturbingly incestuous family is boatloads of cash and good genes (or good surgeons).

Rumors that Rob and Chyna were dating began in January of this year. The news came as an unwelcome surprise to Rob’s family, especially given the vicious ongoing feud between sisters Kylie and Khloe and Chyna and her bestie Amber Rose, due to digs Rose and Chyna have taken about Kylie and Tyga’s relationship (the couple is currently no longer dating).

Despite his family’s objections, Rob and Chyna became engaged in April and announced in May that they are expecting their first child. Now, a reality series makes four. It would appear Chyna is a millennial Yoko Ono, determined to fracture the tight-knit Kardashian’s and grab some of the spotlight for herself.

This trashy modern-day Romeo and Juliet debacle proves just too tempting for E! to pass up. So Mama Bear Kris Jenner is going to have her hands full maintaining her family’s empire with an ambitious, D-List daughter-in-law joining the family fold.

When KUWTK first aired, the affluent Kardashian-Jenner clan may not have been The Brady Bunch—Kim was already a household name thanks to a sex tape she made with then-boyfriend, Ray J. Season 1 focused on the misadventures of the unorthodox family with a stage “momager” and a revered, yet put upon, Olympic gold medalist at the helm.

But over the years, the Kardashians have become never-ending fodder for the tabloids with quickie marriages, nude photo shoots, bickering siblings, drug addiction and alcohol abuse, fertility woes, lavish parties and weddings, and high-profile relationships, including the rocky romance between Kourtney Kardashian and her man-child, ex-boyfriend, Scott Disick.

Now, they are indisputably the first family of reality TV who strategically air their dirty laundry (all designer labels, of course) when it benefits their latest entrepreneurial projects. Having undergone so much plastic surgery—and one gender transition—personal dramas, and generally bad behavior, they more closely resemble a cast from American Horror Story. Their presence is so pervasive in the pop culture landscape, it’s become impossible to get through one news cycle without their names being mentioned. And with the next generation already on-screen vets, there would appear to be no end in sight.

Rob was the last holdout. In 2014, a source revealed to Radar Online that Rob was convinced reality TV ruined his family, turning them into narcissists only concerned with fame and fortune. Just try to get through an episode where everyone is not entirely pre-occupied with their phones, looking up news stories about themselves or indulging in non-stop selfies.

Whatever caused Rob to distance himself from his family, he’s basking in the glow of being a tabloid darling. He and Chyna are already shopping pics of their unborn baby around to the highest bidder. And viewers are bound to tune in to see how his relationship with Chyna and her inevitable conflicts with his family play out.

It looks like Rob Kardashian’s only real objection to fame was that he wasn’t reaping the benefits. Please stop this train and let me off before it wrecks.

#TonysSoLIT: The 2016 Tony Awards Will Be Blacker Than Ever

The 70th Tony Awards are upon us. Whether you’re a musical fanatic or have never even seen a stage production, you don’t want to miss this year’s ceremony. In addition to the sheer talent Broadway has to offer, the 2016 Tonys will be one of the most diverse award shows in recent years.

The 2015-16 Broadway season featured many shows with predominantly black casts or people of color, such as The Color Purple and Shuffle Along. Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o made her Broadway debut in the critically acclaimed Eclipsed. Written by The Walking Dead star, Danai Gurira, the play tells the stories of five Liberian women as they survive the Second Liberian Civil War. It became the first play with an all-black female creative team and cast to debut on Broadway.

However, the show that took Broadway by storm was Hamilton. You seriously couldn’t get away from hearing about this hip-hop musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Though it’s about the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, the groundbreaking production features people of color portraying white historical figures. Puerto-Rican Miranda portrays Hamilton, while African-American Leslie Odom Jr. plays third Vice President and Hamilton’s killer, Aaron Burr. Both performers are nominated in the Lead Actor in a Musical category.

With 16 nominations, Hamilton is the most nominated production in Tony history. It even won a 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Mind you, this is a HIP-HOP MUSICAL.

In addition to Miranda, Nyong’o, and Odom’s nominations, 11 other people of color are nominated in performance categories. In fact, for the first time ever, all four musical performance awards could go to people of color. This is extremely important in an award season that has highlighted the lack of diversity in Hollywood. #OscarsSoWhite criticized the Academy Awards for all white nominees in the acting categories, and in recent weeks, we’ve seen two white female actors cast to portray characters of Asian descent in films.

Broadway has typically been more diverse in casting than in TV/Film. However, the 2015-16 season and the Tony Awards truly shows the contributions people of color can—and do—make to the performing arts. Representation matters and it shouldn’t be dismissed or go unrecognized with an “it doesn’t sell” excuse.

If anything, the criticism over the past few months has shown that audiences want more diversity and inclusiveness in entertainment. Popular shows like Black-ish and Fresh Off the Boat are representative of this. Casting news of Michael B. Jordan and Nyong’o joining “Black Panther”—the upcoming Marvel film starring the first leading Black superhero—even made #BlackPantherSoLIT a number one trending topic.

Given how this Awards Season has played out, let’s celebrate #TonysSoLIT!

The 70th Tony Awards will be presented live June 12th at 8PM on CBS with James Corden as the host. I’m hoping for a historic night for people of color and many memorable performances and speeches.

Chris Brown and the Game Clap Back Against Homophobes on Social Media

It’s no secret that hip-hop culture has historically had a serious problem when it comes to tolerance with LGBT folks. But here’s a little sign of hope: There is progress being made.

Chris Brown and the Game are two of the more ratchet and vocal members of the hip-hop set on social media. They’re light-skinned, tatted up, full of testosterone and very slick at the mouth. If you’re looking for someone to throw down with on the Tweets and the ‘Gram, these two will more than happily oblige you.

But recently, both Game and Chris Breezy used their fire-breathing mouths in defense of tolerance for gay people and against homophobia.

The Game was the first to get hit with a “Is you gay?” assault by his followers on social media after he posted a picture of his trainer, who was supposedly challenged by his “70-year-old pool man” to a push-up challenge. In the picture, his trainer, Brandon Schram, is showing off his washboard abs as he takes off his hoody. Game is in the background, also shirtless, enjoying a laugh at the challenge.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BFz35YLGovT/

Apparently, the sight of two men in proximity to one another with their shirts off is enough to raise suspicions about either man’s sexuality. The trolls pounced in the comments. But Game was not having it this day or any other day.

The Game pulled out his super petty and went in on the Instagram user who dared to utter, “This is suspect.”

“You a skinny n***a wit a belly n hella bumps that need to be popped on your face…I’d chill if I was you pimple boy,” Game wrote.

Welp. Hopefully that young man won’t try that stunt again with Jayceon in the future.

Chris Brown found himself the target of similar social media trolls who accused him of being gay too after BallerAlert posted a picture of Chris with Balmain Creative Director Olivier Rousteing.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BGJ6Z0Xl76M/

Just like in the incident with the Game, online trolls began to whisper about how “suspect” the photo of the two men appeared to be. Christopher did NOT take kindly to the discussion that unfolded in BallerAlert’s comments section and responded to Instagram user ricodelnegro who called the picture “fucking faggy.”

Chris rightly pointed out that he was now being called gay when he was previously called homophobic. Never one to miss out on an opportunity to step into some internet beef, Game swooped in behind Chris and lent a helping hand too.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BGJ-lJQF70W/

The fragility of American masculinity is not to be understated or underestimated. And as celebrities, celebrity men like Chris and the Game bear the brunt of this discriminatory and suffocating attitude about what it means to be a “man.”

The good news is they appear to have evolved somewhat (let’s not give them TOO much credit yet) and are starting to push back against the narrative of what is and isn’t acceptable behavior for heterosexual men.

Let’s give these two high-yella fellas one gold star on their chart for this progressive step in the right direction, shall we?

Lamar Odom is Back on Crack

So it appears Lamar Odom didn’t learn a damn thing from his near death experience last year when he overdosed at a Nevada brothel.

According to TMZ, L.O. is hitting the glass pipe again and his friends and family are extremely worried about him. Are we even surprised anymore?

Multiple sources close to Odom — hoping to get through to the NBA star — tell us he’s been acting very strange lately. His friends are convinced he’s off the wagon, and for the last few weeks they’ve been trying to get through to him.

So, a group of people went to his home to convince him to enter rehab — but Odom scoffed … telling the group he doesn’t need any help. It sounds just like the failed intervention attempt from 2013.

During the confrontation, which took place at Odom’s home in Calabasas, we’re told his friends noticed drug paraphernalia scattered all over the place … including crack pipes, baggies and roaches.

We’re told the fear is that Odom believes he’s invincible — as evidenced by the fact he’s been hitting bars and drinking while still recovering from the damage he suffered from the overdose.

Last month, Khloe filed for divorce from Lamar for the second time and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the break up.

A source close to the estranged couple told People that the marriage has been over for some time now; Khloe just recently decided to make it final.

“This was always the plan. The divorce has never been officially off. Khloé was waiting for the timing to be right,” the insider said.

With Lamar out here sucking on glass dicks and the fact that he has the potential to become Eddie from “The Five Heartbeats” in the next few years or possibly be lying in a grave (God Forbid), who can blame Khloe for wanting a divorce? He’s lucky she even deals with his crack-smoking ass.

On another note, we hope that he gets help soon.

Kristen Bell Uses Her Platform to Help End Stigma Attached to Depression

Eternally bubbly and funny actress Kristen Bell is getting brutally honest about her battle with depression.

What?! A happy, successful (and rich) actress gets depressed and is not ashamed to talk about it? The “Veronica Mars” star wants to destigmatize the mental health issue and has written about her experience in an essay for TIME magazine’s advice site, Motto.

Bell’s first bout with depression occurred while she was in college. For no particular reason, she felt worthless, a sense of loneliness, and like she was a failure and had nothing to offer.

Wise advice from her mother gave her the strength to talk to someone about her issues. She continues to talk to a therapist, family and friends, and even takes medication. In an effort to end the shame attached to depression, she encourages others to seek help. She also advises routine mental check-ins just like a doctor or dentist.

“There is such an extreme stigma about mental health issues, and I can’t make heads or tails of why it exists… Anyone can be affected, despite their level of success or their place on the food chain. In fact, there is a good chance you know someone who is struggling with it… So why aren’t we talking about it?” she writes.

Bell raises an excellent question: Why don’t we talk about it?

The stigma attached to depression and other mental health issues, like anxiety, is dangerous. One should not feel ashamed or disparaged because of the illness, nor should they ignore it.

Nearly 20% adults suffer from form of mental illness and according to the U.S. HHS Office of Minority Health, 63% of Black people believe depression is a personal weakness. This statistic is staggering and unfortunate. One of the first steps in eliminating the stigma is by speaking out. The more people share their experience, the more others can relate and seek help.

Similar to Bell, I am typically a happy person. My bubbly personality and eternal optimism allows me to always find a way to uplift and put a smile on someone’s face. However, about five years ago, and behind closed doors, my own smile began to fade. I retreated from people, found less joy in activities I love, uncharacteristically neglected classes, slept too much/slept too less, etc. Realizing there was a problem, I sought help. I received treatment for several months without telling any family or friends.

Through the process, I began to understand depression on a deeper level and knew that sharing my experience could benefit others. I feel no shame in my battle with depression and continue to be open about what I’ve been through. I didn’t even hesitate to go back to therapy when I felt it was needed last year.

Prominent people, like Kristen Bell, using their platform to discuss such matters is extremely important. It gives a face to an illness that is often hidden in the shadows.

Bell joins Jim Carrey, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, and a list of other celebrities that have bravely talked about their experiences with depression. We should applaud them for their efforts in helping to destigmatize this common illness.

As a Matter of Fact, We Do Need That “Roots” Remake, and Here’s Why

Roots: The Saga of an American Family, a classic novel written by Alex Haley, published in 1976, follows a family from their capture in Africa through their upbringing in American slavery. The book was adopted into a miniseries in 1977. Now in 2016, A&E has given the miniseries a makeover and brought it back to life.

While the first miniseries was widely accepted and sparked interest in Black History and African Americans wanting to trace their lineage, many people have been vocal about not watching the current Roots miniseries and have encouraged others not to do so either.

Among those, rapper Snoop Dogg has called for an all-out boycott of the historic series. Snoop uploaded a video to social networking site Instagram explaining why he’s not here for the Roots remake.

“I don’t understand America. They just want to keep showing the abuse that we took hundreds and hundreds of years ago. But guess what? We’re taking the same abuse. Think about that part. When you all going to make a (expletive) series about the success that black folks is having. The only success we have is Roots and 12 Years A Slave?”

Snoop’s unwarranted opinion skips over the importance of the slave narrative in mass media. Remaking the Roots miniseries for new generation gives millennials a view of slavery they may have never seen and opens the door for dialect between families about the horrors of slavery. Slavery not only built and shaped the nation, it left scars on an entire race of people which cannot be ignored.

Roots is not the watered down version of slavery taught in schools. Roots should make people feel uncomfortable. It captures the essence of slavery through complex characters, powerful imagery and thought-provoking stories. The effects of slavery that still bear on the backs of African Americans in this country today. It is not a time period that should be swept under the rug.

With times like these, especially amid the Black Lives Matter movement, everyone in America, and not just black people, should tune in to watch the disparity African Americans have running through our veins.

Snoop and others who share his opinion believe there are too many slave narratives and not enough movies about black excellence. This point has little validity. While there have been several slavery or civil rights based movies this past decades, there have been just as many biopics detailing black success stories.

Yes, there has been Django and 12 Years a Slave, but there has also been Red Tails, 42, Straight Outta Compton and more movies that have shown the complexity of African Americans beyond the slave era.

The Roots remake not only comes with a star studded cast including Anika Noni Rose and rapper T.I., it also gives Hollywood some talented fresh faces. The reboot was co-produced by Levar Burton who played main character Kunta Kinte in the original roots.

“I am acutely aware of the social implications this time around,” Burton told People magazine.

“Kizzy, this country will always be dangerous for you.” A message that remains hauntingly true for Black men, women and children still in 2016. If you’re not watching Roots because you’re stuck in some fake “woke” world, please go back to sleep.

Could Zika Impact U.S. Athlete Turnout at the 2016 Summer Olympics?

Zika, a mosquito born virus native to tropical countries has had a major outbreak in Brazil, which is also the home of the 2016 Summer Olympics.

The games will bring millions to the country to compete and engage in athletic competition, but is the risk worth it? Several athletes from the United States have voiced concerns of missing out on the 2016 Olympics in order to avoid contracting the virus.

NBA star Pau Gasol, who has played in Olympic games previously, is one of the athletes with Zika concerns. According to the Associated Press, Gasol is considering not playing and wondering if it is worth the risk. The Chicago Bulls star says he is not alone in his thinking either.

Fox Sports has also named tennis superstar Serena Williams, soccer player Hope Solo and basketball player Carmelo Anthony as athletes who were considering skipping out on the 2016 Olympics in Brazil with concerns over Zika.

Francisco Rodriguez, MLB player for the Detroit Tigers contracted Zika in Venezuela. Following his two-month battle with the virus, in an interview with ESPN, Rodriguez encouraged athletes to learn about Zika before heading to Brazil.

“It wouldn’t surprise me to see some athletes deciding not to participate in the games to avoid putting their health and the health of their families at risk,” said Gasol, without naming any other athletes. He continued, “some of these athletes are planning to have children in the near future and this could affect them, it could affect the health of their kids and their wives.”

So far, at least one U.S. athlete, cyclist Tejay van Garderen, has officially withdrawn from the Olympics over Zika concerns.

The Zika virus can cause neurological issues in affected adults and birth defects in infants born to mothers infected by the Zika virus. The virus, though transmitted to humans from mosquitoes, can be transmitted sexually or through childbirth.

While Gasol’s uncertainty lingers, major health organizations have said Zika will not be a problem at the 2016 Olympics. The World Health Organization, better known as WHO, has issued a statement saying there is no public health justification for postponing or canceling the Olympics due to Zika concerns.

This follows an open letter penned by 150 health experts requesting a delay or relocation of the Summer 2016 games. WHO has suggested that pregnant women avoid travel and anyone else take standard safety precautions including using insect repellant and practicing safe sex.

Bobby Brown Cries Talking About Bobbi Kristina’s Death: “My Baby’s Gone”

It’s been almost a year since his daughter Bobbi Kristina passed away, and for the first time Bobby Brown is opening up about it.

In a clip from an upcoming interview on ABC’s “20/20” with Robin Roberts, Brown breaks down into tears while talking about the tragic deaths of Bobbi Kristina and his ex-wife Whitney Houston.

“The hardest thing I had to do in my life was to tell my daughter to let go. My baby’s gone,” he said.

Brown, promoting his new memoir Every Little Step, also speaks on the first time he saw Whitney do drugs, their marriage, his financial struggles, and the striking similarities between Whitney and Bobbi Kristina’s deaths. “The same thing that happened to my daughter happened to Whitney,” Bobby said.

While it’s obvious the past few years have been very tough on Brown, he seems to be positive about the road ahead of him. “I thank God I’m still here,” he says at the end of the clip.

Muhammad Ali Dead: 6 Things You Need to Know About the Boxing Legend

Last night, the world was rocked with the news that legendary boxer Muhammad Ali passed away at the age of 74.

He spent his last few days being treated at a Phoenix-area hospital for respiratory complications after a 32-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. Despite being the world’s most famous boxer, there are still a number of things about the man that remain unknown.

In honor of Muhammad Ali’s life, we’ve compiled a list of 6 things you need to know about the three-time world heavyweight legend.

1Muhammad Ali died a devout muslim

Born Cassius Mercellus Clay (after a 19th-century politician and abolitionist), Muhammad Ali renounced his “slave name” and converted to the nation of Islam when he was 22 years old. Inspired partly by Malcolm X, Ali converted to Islam at a time when being a Muslim was widely unaccepted.

His conviction was so strong that this past December, he criticized Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s proposal to ban Muslims from entering the United States, saying “We as Muslims have to stand up to those who use Islam to advance their own personal agenda.”

2Ali is the founder of the now famous “rope-a-dope” tactic

In 1974, in the famous Rumble in the Jungle bout against George Foreman, Ali introduced a widely replicated tactic known at the “rope-a-dope.” The phrase, publicized by John Condon, described Ali’s plan used to defeat the well-known grill master, George Foreman.

Ali lied against the ropes as Foreman punched away until he tired himself out, then, when the time was right, countered and knocked Foreman out in the eighth round. The strategy has since been used by such boxers at Manny Pacquiao, Nicolino Locche and even Floyd Mayweather Jr.

3He evaded the Vietnam War draft and was banned from boxing

During the height of the Vietnam War, Muhammad Ali was drafted to serve in the Vietnam War. But on April 28th, 1967, the famous boxer refused to be inducted into a war that he did not agree with, citing religious reasons for his decision to refuse military service. He was convicted of draft evasion and was banned from boxing for three years.

In his refusal, Ali said, “Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go ten thousand miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights?…The real enemy of my people is right here. I will not disgrace my religion, my people or myself by becoming a tool to enslave those who are fighting for their own justice, freedom and equality.”

4Ali released an album titled “I Am the Greatest”

In 1963, Ali released a spoken word album before he won the world heavyweight championship. It was here that he announced his conversion to Islam and changed his name from Cassius Clay to Muhammad Ali. In it, he predicted he would beat his rival Sonny Liston in 8 rounds (he did so in 6 to claim the title). Ali released another album in conjunction with Frank Sinatra and Howard Cosell in 1976 titled “Ali and His Gang vs. Mr. Tooth Decay.”

5He ended his career on a loss

Ali defended his title as world heavyweight champion until 1978 when he lost to Leon Spinks. He briefly reclaimed the title until he retired on top in 1979. But, in an effort to bolster his personal fortune, he returned in 1980 for a title match against Larry Holmes. Ali lost that match, and proceeded to lose again a year later to Trevor Berbick, after which he retired for good. The world’s greatest boxer did not manage to go out on top.

6He spent his final years as a humanitarian

Ali will always be known as one of, if not the, world’s greatest boxer. But outside of boxing, the legend spent his final years as a humanitarian, trying to help better the lives of those around the world. In 1985 and 1990, he travelled to Lebanon and Iraq to help seek the release of American hostages. To this day, the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards, a foundation founded with his wife Lonnie, publicly recognize and celebrate the greatness of people around the world. The next event will take place on September 17th, 2016.

Everyone, even those raised on UFC rather than boxing, know of the legend that is Muhammad Ali. His legacy will live on for generations. Not only for his masterful talent in the ring, but for his impact outside of it. And while the world may have lost a legend, a legacy will continue to live on.

He floated like a butterfly, and he stung like a bee, but today, Muhammad Ali rests in our memories.

Tamar is Pissing Off Executives at “The Real” with Her Spin on “Braxton Family Values”

Just when you think Tamar Braxton‘s little firing from her talk show “The Real” couldn’t get ANY messier, we step into the next layer of mess.

After Tamar was unexpectedly given the boot from “The Real,” she put out messy hints on social media that alluded to her having beef with castmates and suffering betrayal at the hands of someone who she once considered a friend.

In a shrewd move of timing and resources, Tamar and the WeTV crew had Tamar re-enact her reaction to her firing for her longstanding reality show, “Braxton Family Values.”

During the scene, Tamar is sitting in bed when her sister Toni walks in. In her best fragile voice and in between cracks in her voice, Tamar explains to her big sister that was she was just told that she was being let go from “The Real” and she has NO IDEA why because she didn’t DO ANYTHING.

Watch the daytime soap-opera-worthy acting and crocodile tears below.

While the little scene and “woe is me” act was cute for ratings, it apparently didn’t go down so well with executives over at her old show as lawsuit threats have apparently been flying after the BFV episode aired, reports the Daily Mail.

Warner Bros fired off legal letters to WE TV about this Thursday’s episode claiming that if anything on the show’s reenactment further disparages The Real or violates Tamar and Vince’s non-disclosure agreement, they plan to pursue litigation.

Warner Bros initially decided to ditch Vince as an executive producer on the series and wanted to have a ‘come to Jesus meeting’ with Tamar one last time to help her keep her job. ‘They had completed a photo shoot for Season three,’ the source said.

The source added: ‘Their intention was not to fire her, but because Vince was dropped as a producer he wouldn’t allow the executives to speak to his wife directly and that’s what pushed the network to not pick up her option either and can her from the show.’

In addition to sending letters to WE TV, Warner Bros. is also threatening to release multiple videos of Tamar imploding on set, as well as the video of her meltdown and cussing out the show’s executive producer.

‘Everyone on set will tell you that her actions that day were reprehensible and the epitome of insubordination. All the cursing and violent language, it was just a chaotic scene that will make Dennis Quaid’s movie set meltdown look like a nursery rhyme session at a daycare center,’ the source said, before adding: ‘It would definitely affect her ability to get work in this business!’

Sources close to The Real believe that Tamar and Vince are trying to portray her as the victim because they need to find a new gig now that they’ve lost The Real.

In a separate statement to Love B. Scott, producers from the show further clarified once and for all that Tamar’s firing had absolutely NOTHING to do with her castmates.

In response to statements made by Tamar Braxton during recent interviews and appearances surrounding her departure from “The Real,” we felt compelled to correct some inaccuracies.

Tamar Braxton’s contract was not renewed for reasons that will remain privileged and private, and that are between her and the Studio. However, we would like to make it crystal clear that Ms. Braxton’s departure from the show had nothing to do with her former co-hosts; any suggestion to the contrary unfairly tarnishes them. As always, we wish Tamar and Vince all the best.

Maybe Tamar should just shut up, cut her losses and move on. Cause the clueless, victim act seems like it has the potential to do more harm than good.

The only celebrity who seems to successfully thrive off of that strategy is Taylor Swift, and Tamar is certainly no Taylor in any way, shape or form.
