Phaedra “Liar” Parks Feels the Holy Spirit in Church, Surprisingly Doesn’t Burst Into Flames

One of the easiest and plainest of God’s 10 Commandments in the Bible is “Thou Shalt Not Lie.”

Phaedra Parks, who is the daughter of a preacher, missed that memo as we all learned on last season of Real Housewives of Atlanta when Phaedra made up a lie that Kandi wanted to drug Porsha and rape her in her sex dungeon and spread this rumor to Porsha under the false pretense that this information came from Kandi directly to Phaedra as a confession.

Word on the street is that Phaedra will NOT be returning to RHOA for season 10. Or at the very least, she will not be returning as a full-time housewife and might appear on the show as a guest or friend of the show like Porsha did for that one season she was demoted.

Perhaps in a search for absolution and forgiveness, Fakedra Phaedra has been spending some time trying to get her spirit right with the Lord, as she made an appearance at the Atlanta Dream Center for a Friday night service that doubled as an album release party for Tasha Cobbs.

TMZ grabbed some footage of Phaedra getting into the spirit, and whoo! Lyin’ ass Phaedra sure knows how to act like the holy spirit is moving through her. Given what we know of her character, it’s more likely day-old Taco Bell that’s runnin’ through her twisted guts, but still, the congregants of the church ain’t gon’ know the difference.

Even though I don’t believe Phaedra has gotten all the way right with the Lord, I do wish her well on her journey. And hey, frankly, she should be pleased that she didn’t burst into flames immediately upon entering the church given her sinful track record, so she’s on the right path, at least.

Blac Chyna & “Prison Bae” Jeremy Meeks Team Up for Secret Project

Well, this is an odd pairing. Blac Chyna and “Prison Bae” Jeremy Meeks are apparently running in the same circle nowadays.

Chyna shared a photo holding onto Meeks on her Snapchat on Wednesday (Aug. 30). But before rumors start spreading that the pair might be hooking it up, it seems Chyna and the felon-turned-model were working together on a photoshoot.

More models could be seen in other pictures Chyna posted. However, the Lashed salon owner did not offer any details as to what project she was working on with Meeks.

Chyna posted the unexpected photo on the same day another photo was making headlines for Meeks. Also on Wednesday, the model sparked engagement rumors after he shared an Instagram story with Topshop heiress Chloe Green wearing a large diamond ring on her left ring finger.

However, a rep for the heiress quickly shot down the rumor simply stating “Chloe’s not engaged.”

Between Chyna’s drama with Rob Kardashian and rapper Rarri True, and Meeks cheating on his wife and mother of his children with Green, I’m sure the two had interesting relationship stories (and advice) to share with each other.

Trump Treasury Secretary Refuses to Commit to Putting Harriet Tubman on $20 Bill

45 and his crew are certainly doing a horrible job at trying to convince us they’re not a bunch of racists. The Secretary of Treasury gave us one more example of how much this current administration hates black people by failing to support putting slavery liberator Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill.

In a Thursday (Aug. 31) interview on CNBC, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said honoring a decision to replace 7th US President Andrew Jackson with an image of Tubman was not one if his primary concerns. He even dismissed the idea again after the interviewer noted the “cultural aspects” of putting a black woman’s face on US currency.

“Ultimately, we’ll be looking at this issue. It’s not something that I’m focused on at the moment…

“People have been on the bills for a long period of time. This is something we’ll consider. Right now we have a lot more important issues to focus on.”

Mnuchin defended side-skipping the question by explaining his main concern in preventing counterfeiting and changes to currency could pose security concern.

The former Treasury secretary (under President Barack Obama) announced the decision to put Tubman on the $20 bill in April 2016. Jackson’s image would be moved to the back of the bill. Then-candidate Donald Trump called the decision “pure political correctness.”

Mnuchin’s comments got a collective side-eye from Twitter and caused Harriet Tubman to become the No. 2 trending topic (only behind the reported ending of DACA, another racially motivated move by 45).

Designs for Tubman’s $20 bill and a $10 bill honoring the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment—which gave women the right to vote—were to be revealed by 2020. A spokesperson for the Treasury Department did not elaborate on Mnuchin’s comments, but did note no new bills are scheduled to go into circulation until 2026.

Police Conduct Welfare Check at R. Kelly’s Home to Speak With Joycelyn Savage

The Savages are not playing with R. Kelly. Tim Savage and other members of his family rolled up to the singer’s mansion with multiple police units in an effort to see his daughter Joycelyn.

Joycelyn is one of several young women living with R. Kelly, however, her family is convinced the singer is holding he against her will. On Tuesday (Aug. 29) Joycelyn’s father, sister, and other members of the Savage family went to Kelly’s Atlanta mansion as police conducted a welfare check at their request.

According to TMZ, a woman in Kelly’s camp answered the door, but told cops Joycelyn was not currently on the property. However, police were able to communicate with the 22-year-old via FaceTime who, again, claimed she was fine. She also refused to speak with her family.

The welfare check was requested after Tim says Kelly refused to let the family speak with Joycelyn at a recent concert of his.

The Savages weren’t allowed to be near Kelly’s front door, but Tim recorded a video during the check.

Kenya Moore Fights Back Against Rumors Her Surprise Marriage is Fake: “Enough Is Enough!”

Kenya Moore is sick and tired of you trying to shade her marriage. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star is done with the jokes and says she’s now coming for anybody who claims she faked her surprise wedding for a storyline.

Kenya shocked everybody—including Bravo and her RHOA co-stars—when she secretly married Daly in June. The nuptials took place during a private ceremony in St. Lucia and there were no reality show cameras to capture the moment. Kenya confirmed she was married a week after the couple exchanged vows.

Questions surrounding the quickie wedding are to be expected though, because we all know how desperate Kenya was for a man/husband and her past RHOA flames (Matt Jordan & Walter Jackson) seemed to have been on Kenya’s payroll for storyline purposes and job security. With her single virtually the song of the summer and blowing up the charts, Cardi B is crossing a lot of dreams of her list. But is walking down the aisle next?

Word on the street is that Cardi is newly engaged to boyfriend and Migos member Offset. She was of course forced to face the rumor during interviews at the 2017 VMAs. The rapper cleverly broke out in song when Charlamagne Tha God asked her to set the record straight.

“Does you see a ring on my ring finger? Boy, is you gon’ marry me? Marry me.

“I’m a woman. Every woman, I think, wants to get married and wants to have children. It’s never too early to get married now. You know, if you want to propose to me, you can.”

Though she and Offset are not currently engaged, she’s clearly not opposed to the idea, but admits there’s no pressure on Offset. “I don’t gotta put the pressure, you what I’m saying. I put it down. Ain’t no pressure, baby,” she said.

Walking the carpet in a floor-length white gown, Cardi also confirmed to Us Weekly that she’s not engaged. “Looking like I’m getting married,” she noted of her outfit, “but I’m not there.”

Rumors of the couple possibly being engaged were sparked last week after Offset flaunted a large white and yellow diamond ring on Snapchat.

Media Take Out then “confirmed” Offset proposed in private and the couple were waiting for the right time to make a “joint announcement.”

The rap couple has only been together for a few months. But as for right now, it doesn’t seem like they are tying the knot anytime soon.

Katy Perry’s Horrible Hosting Causes Lowest Watched VMAs in History, ABC Reportedly Regretting Hiring Her as “American Idol” Judge

The ratings are in and it’s not looking too good for Katy Perry. The 2017 MTV Video Music Awards were the least watched of all-time.

According to Nielsen, only 5.68 million people tuned in to celebrate music’s hottest young stars on Sunday (Aug. 27), making it the lowest-rated VMAs EVER—or, at least since Nielsen began tracking the show’s ratings in 1994. Viewership was down from the 6.5 million it pulled last year and a far cry from its rating high of 11.9 million in 2002.

The awards show had stiff competition though, as it went up against the season finale of Game of Thrones, which hit a series high with 12.07 million viewers. However, the VMAs did beat the HBO fantasy drama in its key teenager demographic.

The VMA ratings have been on a steady decline for years. However, this could be attributed to more people choosing to watch the annual MTV show online. There were reportedly 45.8 million streams on the live Facebook feed last year and 62.8 million streams total when other platforms are added.

Unfortunately, the bad news just gets worse for VMA host Katy Perry though. Critics and viewers panned her cringe-worthy attempt at emceeing the show. She was so bad that American Idol producers are now reportedly worried about her sitting at the judge’s table, especially since they shoved out half of their talent budget to secure the pop star.

A source tells Radar Online:

“They are paying her $25 million and she was a total dud [on the VMAs]. No one ever auditioned her for the new Idol job and they are freaking out that they hired someone who is terrible on live television.”

The source also added the ABC reboot showrunners want Perry to be less self-absorbed in order to keep the focus on the contestants.

“It’s not like they’re asking her to change her hairstyle or revise her style team, but they are asking her not to upstage the contestants the way some past judges, especially Mariah Carey, had the tendency to do.”

ABC has yet to hire any other judges for the American Idol reboot. To be honest, Katy Perry was a bad pick from the start and now her horrible VMA hosting only reaffirmed it.

Brittney Jones: Judge Denies Request to Drop Charges Against Woman Who Performed Sex Acts in Florida Courthouse

Though she tried to fight it, Brittney Jones will continue to face charges for performing sex acts in a public court house. A Florida judge has denied a request to drop the charges.

Jones’ lawyer argued the law used to charge their client is “unconstitutionally vague” because it does not explicitly define what “unnatural sex” is and leaves it open to interpretation for citizens.

However, the judge wasn’t buying it and denied her lawyer’s request on August 16. Jones was not present in court.

Jones caught the internet’s attention back in February after she posted several videos performing sex acts, including oral, on a man on the fourth-floor hallway of the Duval County Courthouse in Jacksonville, FL. Claiming her “skills” got her out of unrelated legal charges, she then bragged about her antics on social media as the videos went viral.

The 26-year-old was arrested in February and charged with unnatural and lascivious acts. Jeremiah Robinson, the man in the video and Jones’ alleged “baby daddy” also faces the same charge.

Brittney Jones’ next court hearing is scheduled for September 12.

Cynthia Bailey Debuts Handsome New Bae Will Jones On Social Media: “He’s Got me Feeling Pretty Special”

Cynthia has a new man! And she’s showing him off on Instagram and all-round Atlanta!

Cynthia Bailey just caught us all off-guard by going “Instagram official” with her new bae, motivational speaker Will Jones. She posted the first pic of the two chilling on Lake Lanier on Monday (Aug. 28).

And Jones must be making her really happy. Earlier in the day she posted a photo walking on a Lake Lanier pier and hinted at the new man in her life in the caption. “He’s got me feeling pretty special,” she wrote.

It’s unclear how long Cynthia and Jones have been dating, but they’ve been seen attending public events together in Atlanta since at least July. The couple most recently accompanied each other at the Survivor’s Remorse x Upscale Magazine “Champions Table” Private Dinner & Cocktail party earlier this month.

According to Da Minority Report, Will Jones is a motivational speaker who has appeared on shows like The Steve Harvey Show, and rubs elbows with Atlanta elites, including current Atlanta mayoral candidate Michael Sterling.

Jones has been married twice and has at least two daughters. One of his children makes frequent appearances on his Instagram account.

A quick glance at his posts on The Gram suggest Jones is adventurous with an outgoing personality. Several posts show him jumping off boats, skydiving, flying an airplane, and he may also have a past in bodybuilding/modeling.

Geez, I hope Cynthia can keep up with him after being married to Uncle Ben Peter Thomas for so long. I have a feeling that she can, though. The newly-turned 50-year-old gave an update on her life to Bravo’s The Daily Dish and she seemed happier than I’ve ever seen her before.

“I’m in a great place in my life. I just turned 50, and I am really channeling my inner vixen.”

Season 10 of RHOA is currently filming and Jones just may appear on the show. Cynthia revealed she was coming from a date in the above clip and it seems Jones is already in the RHOA circle. He posted photos with Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker back in 2016.

I don’t know about you, but I just got real excited for RHOA Season 10. I want to see Cynthia happy again and she will finally have a storyline! Real Housewives of Atlanta is expected to return in November.

Drake Bell & Josh Peck Hug It Out During 2017 MTV Video Music Awards

Thanks to Taylor Swift and Fifth Harmony, the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards had its fair share of shade and celebrity feuds. However, it also saw the end of one as Drake Bell and Josh Peck hugged it out during the awards show.

The former Nickelodeon stars posted the same picture of the TV brothers embracing each other and squashing their short-lived beef. “Hug me…” Peck wrote. “Reunited and it feels so good,” Bell captioned his post.

Bell and Peck developed a strong relationship during their 2004-07 series Drake & Josh and also previously starred on The Amanda Show together. However, Bell expressed his hurt on social media when he was not invited to Peck’s intimate wedding in June.

The tweets have since been deleted and Bell later stated he was just in his feelings at the time and realized he overreacted. However, at the height of the feud, a source did reveal that the two hadn’t spoken in a long time and Peck wanted to keep his wedding small.

The consensus of social media and critics is that the 2017 VMAs hosted by Katy Perry were pretty much a dud. But at least Drake Bell and Josh Peck rekindling their friendship is the one good thing to come out of the awards show.

Kim Kardashian & Kanye West Are Unbothered by Taylor Swift’s Shady “Look What You Made Me Do” Video

Even though Taylor Swift infamously claimed that she wanted to be “excluded from [the] narrative” that is her ongoing feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, the singer did everything but exclude herself as the feud served as the entire concept of her latest video.

Swift debuted the music video for “Look What You Made Me Do” at the VMAs on Sunday night (Aug. 27) and the clip is full of shade and Kimye references.

Embracing Kim calling her a snake, Swift seemingly takes shots at Kim exposing her on Snapchat and stabbing her in the back, Kanye’s disastrous 2016 New York Fashion Week show with fainting models, and she even goes so low to mock Kim being robbed at gunpoint while being held in a bathtub.

But here’s the gag: Kim and Kanye actually did what Swift didn’t and removed themselves from the narrative. TMZ reports the couple isn’t tripping over Swift’s latest stunt of playing the victim. Via TMZ:

As for Kanye, our sources say there are certain feuds he deeply cares about … like the one in which he’s embroiled with Jay-Z and Tidal. As one well-connected source put it, “They’re like brothers who fight but feel bad about it and always end up coming together.” Taylor, on the other hand, isn’t even on his radar.

As for Kim, we’re told the way she sees it, the whole feud ended over a year ago.

Kim revealed in May that she hadn’t spoken to Swift since she exposed her as a liar last summer. If you recall, Kim defended her husband by releasing videos of Swift and Kanye positively discussing the rapper’s song “Famous” during a private phone call. However, publicly, Swift claimed she never told Kanye it was OK to reference her in the song.

I guess Taylor Swift really thought she was going to come out on top in this one-sided long-drawn-out feud. Unfortunately, she just comes off as petty and basically confirms Kim’s assertion the sweet, innocent pop/country princess is, in fact, a cold-blooded snake.

Katy Perry Calls on Nicki Minaj for Basketball-Themed “Swish Swish” VMAs Performance

Now that MTV has thoroughly run its most valued live performance vehicle into the ground, the network has decided to save on the money it usually spends on landing a good host and instead opted to have one of its musical performers take the reigns.

Katy Perry, who’s had a very so-so year musicwise with the release of her new album Witness, was blessed with the MC job. But unfortunately, somewhere during the Witness promo tour, Katy lost a lot of her nerve and has opted to hide completely behind her sweet and naive persona.

Which is fine, if that’s what she wants to do, but strangely, she’s proceeding with the release and promotion of her Taylor Swift clapback track, “Swish Swish.”

The initial performance of the song on SNL featured Katy smugly snarling and throwing literal receipts at the camera, taunting Swift essentially. But now, Katy has had a come-to-Jesus experience and is sticking to the literal meaning of “Swish Swish” by wrapping it up in a basketball-themed goof session at the VMAs.

Nicki Minaj, who is clearly just happy to cash a check and score some air time, still shows up but for some weird reason, her interactions with Katy are distant and the two don’t lock arms or interact much on stage together in any meaningful way. Perhaps this is because Nicki is disgusted that Katy has wussed out in her war against Taylor? Who knows.

Logic Officially Replaces Macklemore With Cheesy “1-800-273-8255” VMAs Performance

I’m not sure who asked for it, but somehow we’ve ended up with a new Macklemore, even though most of us didn’t want the original Macklemore in the first place.

Logic, who is apparently on his THIRD album, took to the stage to perform his anti-suicide anthem “1-800-273-8255.” While the subject matter (depression, anxiety and suicide) are very important issues to discuss and dissect in art, the way Logic goes about it is too sanitized, too superficial and too commercial-friendly to ring authentic.

But then again, i think I heard that authenticity isn’t as important with the millennial crowd these days so maybe Logic (who gives me throwback vibes to Snow from the 90s) is doing just fine.

Khalid and some random chick also make a guest appearance but I promise you won’t care or remember.

Taylor Swift Strikes Back at Kanye, Katy Perry and Critics in “Look What You Made Me Do” Video

One of the biggest names in pop music (whether we like it or not) is back. This time around, she’s come armed with fiery imagery and snarky putdowns for everyone who is sick and tired of Taylor Swift and her games.

First off, she comes for Kanye and her disgust of his “tilted stage.” She doesn’t cast a Kanye-lookalike in the video, but in the end she does play herself as the doe-eyed young girl onstage at the VMAs holding the moon man that night.

The video is also full of snake imagery, which Kim Kardashian branded Taylor with when she memorably “exposed” Taylor’s lies by playing a phone conversation between Swift and her hubby, in which Taylor gave her blessing for the mention of her on his controversial track, “Famous.”

Much of the video looks and feels like diet Beyoncé, with Taylor strutting and posing like the Queen Bey, but lacking any of the actual talent and dance skills to pull it off. But I’ll give her credit, the make-up artist and wardrobe designer put in work for this video.

I’m not sure I got the dominatrix outfit and scene though. It lent an aggressively sexual undertone that didn’t ladder up to anything more significant.

As for her most prominent female foe, Taylor dons a cat mask and wears a Tiger shirt (hello, “Roar”) as she smashes things with a bat. The sad thing is, Katy Perry has tapped out of this beef and softened her stance already by turning her “Swish Swish” Swift diss track into something pathetically toothless, so all of this fire from Taylor directed at Katy is wasted energy anyway.

The end of the video finds the many versions of Taylor throughout her career justifying and mimicking many of the complaints people have about her celebrity persona, including the most prominent one about her always playing the victim or acting surprised.

Fifth Harmony Shaded Camila Cabello in VMAs Performance Ft. Gucci Mane

Fresh from the release of their self-titled third album over the weekend, Fifth Harmony hit the stage at the 2017 MTV VMAs, and used their performance to throw a little shade at former group member Camila Cabello.

During the intro, the group started out with five members as they performed their new single “Angel,” but once the beat dropped, the “fifth member” fell backwards off the stage, basically symbolizing Cabello’s abrupt departure last year.

The foursome then went into the album’s lead single “Down,” which featured a quick appearance from Gucci Mane, who also brought his fiancée Keyshia Ka’oir. Another memorable moment from the performance came when Normani Kordei hit a split during her solo part in the song.

Fifth Harmony and Gucci Mane also took home the award for “Best Pop Video.”

Ed Sheeran Teams Up With Lil Uzi Vert for Joint VMA Performance

Ed Sheeran and Lil Uzi vert joined forces for an unannounced collaborative medley Sunday night (Aug. 27) at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.

Sheeran kicked the performance off with a solo rendition of his hit single “Shape of You” before Lil Uzi Vert came out of nowhere and joined in for a never-before-heard remix of the Hot 100 #1 single.

The duo then teamed up for a new take on Uzi’s own hit single “XO TOUR Llif3,” which won the “Song of the Summer” award earlier in the evening.

Kendrick Lamar Set the MTV VMAs Stage on Fire With “DNA” & “Humble” Medley

Kendrick Lamar was born and raised in Compton (or Bompton, depending on who you ask) so it’s only right that he opened this year’s MTV Video Music Awards at the Forum in Inglewood, which is a mere 15-minute drive away from K.Dot’s hometown.

Kendrick—who is currently on tour in support of his latest album DAMN.—kicked his fiery performance off with a rendition of his latest single “DNA,” which ended with a martial arts artist engulfed in flames. He then transitioned into “Humble,” which featured a group of ninjas climbing a fire wall behind him.

Cardi B Slays VMAs Pre-Show Stage With “Bodak Yellow” Performance

It’s hard to believe that two years ago, most of us didn’t even know what a “Cardi B” was, and now, she’s all over the radio and performing at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.

After becoming internet famous via Instagram and landing a starring role on Love & Hip Hop, Cardi B has glowed all the way up and is living her best life.

Cardi’s debut single “Bodak Yellow” is now the #3 song in the country (jumping up from #8 the week before), proving that she’s correct in her assertion that lil bitches can’t fuck with her, even if they wanted to.

No, she didn’t perform on the main stage, but you can’t deny that homegirl, accompanied by two backup dancers, slayed the FAWK outta that pre-show stage!

Cardi was all over the place, but in a good way. If she keeps this momentum up and has a hit single by the time the 2018 VMAs roll around, we wouldn’t be surprised if she’s invited to perform during the actual show.

JAY-Z Announced As Musical Guest for SNL Premiere & Rumored to Headline Super Bowl Halftime With Justin Timberlake

The first televised performance since JAY-Z released 4:44 has been scheduled. The rapper will serve as the musical guest for the season 43 premiere of Saturday Night Live.

JAY-Z will take the SNL stage on September 30 with Ryan Gosling hosting the premiere broadcast. SNL made the announcement on Thursday (Aug. 24) via Twitter.

This will be the rapper’s first SNL appearance in seven years. He last performed on the variety show in 2010 with Betty White as the host.

Since the release of his most personal album, JAY-Z has performed at the V Festival in the UK and is slated to perform at the Made in America Festival in Philadelphia Memorial Day weekend, as well as sets at several other festivals in September. His “4:44 Tour” launches in October.

One performance that has yet to be confirmed, though, is JAY-Z’s rumored appearance at the 2018 Super Bowl. Rumor has it the rapper and good friend Justin Timberlake are in talks to headline the Super Bowl LII Halftime Show in 2018.

The two have obviously collaborated before (“Suit & Tie” and “Holy Grail”), and during a 2013 interview with Billboard, Timberlake revealed the duo has several unreleased songs. The halftime show would allow Jay to capitalize on his 4:44 momentum and Timberlake has hinted at releasing new music sometime in the new year.

A Super Bowl headliner has yet to be named, but this is a mini-concert I would definitely tune in to see.
