Cardi B Explains Jet Ski Photo With Offset: “I Just Had to Get F**ked. That’s All.”

Cardi B says she has a perfect explanation as to why she got back together with Offset (temporarily) and why we saw them all “boo’d up” on a Jet Ski a few days ago.

The “Money” rapper, who announced her split with her husband of a little over a year earlier this month, took to Instagram to address the photos that surfaced showing her and the Migos rapper riding on a Jet Ski in San Juan Friday (Dec. 21) ahead of her performance in Puerto Rico at the Electric Holiday festival, explaining that it was all about satisfying her sexual urges.

“I just had to get f**ked. That’s all,” Cardi said in an Instagram Live video Saturday.

So, in other words, Cardi and Offset are NOT back together. This was just a d**k appointment for her.

The Grammy-nominated rapper also explained how TMZ got a hold to the photos.

“Let me tell you something about the jet ski n***a, right?” she said in the video. “The instructor or whatever the f**k he is, he was taking pictures of us on the phone like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna send you these pictures so you guys can have a memory and I’m going to delete it.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, OK.'”

But Cardi said the man didn’t delete the photos and sold them to TMZ. “What type of professional sh*t is that?” Cardi asked before holding up a copy of the company’s brochure and advising people not to do business with them.

Cardi and Offset’s brief reunion came shortly after Offset crashed her Rolling Loud Festival performance with a floral arrangement spelling out the words “Take Me Back Cardi.”

Offset, who was slammed on social media for doing the most, had also taken to social media to beg Cardi for forgiveness, insisting that he didn’t cheat on her and saying all he wanted for his birthday (which was December 14th) was for her to take him back.

Well, it looks like Offset’s begging and pleading is finally starting to work.

Beyoncé Shares Rare Photos of Twins Rumi & Sir Carter From Trip to India

Beyoncé recently updated her website with a bunch of new photos and offered us a rare glimpse into her private life by sharing never before seen pics of her twin babies Rumi and Sir Carter.

Documenting her recent trip to India, where she performed at a lavish wedding for the daughter of a multi-billionaire, Queen Bey posted two new photos featuring Rumi and Sir.

In one of the photos (above), the 37-year-old pop icon can be seen standing on what looks like a secluded beach, smiling and lifting Rumi in the air as she plays with a seashell.

Another photo (below) shows both Rumi and Sir sitting on the edge of the beach facing away from the camera and looking toward a beautiful sunset.

Sir (L) and Rumi Carter (R)—born June 13th, 2017—are now 18 months old.

Not featured in this latest photo update is Beyoncé and JAY-Z’s oldest child, daughter Blue Ivy, who will celebrate her 7th birthday a few weeks from now on January 7th.

Bey and Jay welcomed twins Rumi and Sir Carter about a year and a half ago in June 2017, and save for a few random photos here and there, we haven’t seen much of them since, so it’s always a special occasion when Bey shows off her babies.

Swae Lee (Accidentally?) Flashed His Penis on Instagram Live While Showing Off New Tattoos

Oops! Swae Lee of Rae Sremmurd was showing fans his new tattoos on Instagram Live Wednesday morning (Dec. 19) when he “accidentally” flashed his penis, which made him a trending topic on Twitter for a few hours.

The video showed the rapper-singer standing naked in a bathroom as he showed off his tattooed body. Seconds later, as he moved the camera towards his lower body, Swae’s junk was exposed to the thousands of fans watching his IG Live video.

Of course, screenshots were taken, and the footage immediately surfaced on social media, prompting a wave of jokes and reactions on Twitter.

Once Swae caught wind of the NSFW screengrab, he said the flash was unintentional, and made it clear to those making jokes that he’s a grower not a shower.

“I was tryna see my tattoo, accidentally posted,” he tweeted. “If you see me in real life you know what’s going on. Don’t let the camera [angles] make y’all get it twisted. Everything [is] working properly but yes it was an accident.”

Twitter, meanwhile, had a field day with the incident. Peep some of the best/funniest responses below:

Detroit Meteorologist’s Suicide Raises Concerns About LASIK Eye Surgery: Here’s What You Need to Know

A 35-year-old Detroit meteorologist died by suicide after struggling for two months with a very challenging Lasik recovery period.

Loyal viewers of Detroit’s WJBK Fox 2 news station were shocked on the morning of Thursday, December 13th to learn that popular meteorologist Jessica Starr had died of suicide the day before.

Starr, described by colleagues as “funny, bright and bubbly,” had admitted to “struggling” with persistent dry eye and dimming vision after undergoing LASIK eye surgery in mid-October. She took a month off from work following the procedure and returned on November 13th.

In a Facebook Live video on her first day back at work, the wife and mother of two explained what she had been going through for the past month or so. “I had LASIK SMILE surgery done about a month ago, so I’m still healing. I wore contact lenses for 20 years and I also had a really high [prescription], so the vision is getting there,” she said in the video.

https://www.facebook.com/fox2jessicastarr/videos/1127078980773881/

“I have a tad side of dry eyes, so I have to use a lot of drops,” she added. “When the drops are in, I can see clear, but then they fade pretty quickly.”

She continued: “I am struggling a little bit, so I do still need all the prayers and the well wishes because this is a hard go. The doctor said it could take up to three months or so before I feel 100% again.” Starr then asked for people to tell her in the comments about their LASIK recovery and how long it took them because she was “trying to stay strong and get through this recovery,” she said.

The next day, Starr tweeted out what would eventually become her last interaction with the public via social media.

“Yesterday was a struggle for me. I really wanted to come back but I need more time to recover,” she wrote. “Please keep me in your thoughts during this challenging time.”

On Wednesday, December 12th, Starr hanged herself, according to officials at the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office. “My colleague went out there… it was just a gruesome scene,” a spokesperson for the medical examiner told Radar Online. “It’s just very sad.”

The next morning, Fox 2 Detroit morning anchor Amy Andrews reported on her colleague’s devastating suicide.

“Our hearts are broken,” she tweeted. “Last night we were informed our Jessica Starr took her life. Her Fox 2 family is deep shock and cannot believe such a wonderful, bright and intelligent woman is gone. Keep her family in your prayers in the coming days as we all deal with our grief.”

“It’s hard to believe someone so funny, bright and bubbly won’t be here anymore,” Kellie Rowe, another co-worker, wrote. “Thanks for the laughs, you’ll be so very missed.”

Starr’s death is putting a spotlight on LASIK eye surgery. According to LasikComplications.com, there has been more than 20 laser eye surgery-related suicides reported over the years, and many more are suspected. “Countless more are suicidal, blind, visually disabled, or in incapacitating pain,” the website says.

27-year-old Max Cronin took his own life in 2016 “as a direct result of complications he experienced from LASIK,” his mother said. “He left suicide letters stating this and kept details of his complications. He experienced vision loss, constant eye pain, dry eyes, haze, and loss of quality of life resulting in depression and his suicide. He was unable to work or continue his life goals due to his eye complications.”

Colin Dorrian was 28 when he ended his life due to complications from LASIK six and a half years after having the procedure done. The surgery was done at a LASIK center in Canada that has since closed. “If I cannot get my eyes fixed, I’m going to kill myself,” he wrote in a note police found on his body. “I just cannot accept the fact that I’m supposed to live like this.”

In an article on the website Lawyers and Settlements, the author wrote that Dorrian had LASIK surgery to relieve himself from a condition known as chronic dry eye. However, instead of improving his vision and freeing him from his contacts, the procedure left Dorrian with so much eye pain and fussy vision that he took his own life.

“Dorrian should have been disqualified from having the surgery,” the article’s author wrote. “His pupils were overly large, and he suffered from extreme dryness of the eyes—two conditions that should have disqualified him from having the procedure. And yet he was cleared for it.”

A 54-year-old Canadian man named Paul Fitzpatrick killed himself on October 6th, 2018—more than 20 years after laser eye surgery side effects “ruined his life,” his family said.

Fitzpatrick, a resident of Ontario who had PRK surgery (the first form of laser eye surgery before LASIK was popularized), was believed to have suffered from a rare condition called “corneal neuralgia” that can cause severe pain, CTV News reported.

Fitzpatrick, a father of two, left a note for his family, writing: “I cannot experience any type of pleasure anymore. Just the pain of burning eyes inside my head and throughout myself … Since 1996 Pain, pain and more pain, please forgive me for not being strong enough to cope. The past few months have been unbearable.” Paul’s death is believed to be the first documented suicide linked to laser eye surgery in Canada, according to CTV News.

Jessica Starr’s mother, carol Starr, told Radar Online that the LASIK procedure her daughter underwent was fairly new and she possibly suffered from “brain trauma” before her suicide. “She went to, like, four specialists,” Carol said. “From what we’re hearing now, it can have other implications, including on the optic nerve. It can cause some brain trauma.”

Carol said the family had recently learned that the surgery Jessica underwent was risky because it was a new procedure created within the last couple of years. The heartbroken mom told Radar she had “no idea” that her daughter was struggling “so much.”

Carol explained that Jessica suffered from poor vision throughout her life and she began wearing glasses and contacts at a young age, which is why she underwent the procedure in the first place. Ultimately, the complications wer too much for her to handle.

“It was affecting her sleep. She lost weight. You never expect it to get this bad,” Carol said. “She made it through so many bad things in her life. She was always a trooper and a fighter. She was a strong woman. I raised a strong woman.”

In another case, Paula Cofer says she has suffered through decades of pain following a LASIK procedure she underwent years ago. “My eyes began to burn and burn and burn and it just never let up. It was just constant burning sometimes stinging, stabbing,” she told Inside Edition.

Cofer is now an anti-Lasik advocate who runs a LASIK online support group for patients of the surgery dealing with complications. “Pain is way more common than people realize,” she told the New York Post. “When you throw in the fact that your vision is blurry in a way no one understands, you can’t function anymore.”

Dr. Eric Donnenfeld, a spokesman for the American Academy of Opthalmology, says that despite its apparent risks, LASIK is safe for the vast majority of patients. “The risk of complications is small and [in] the trials that have been done recently usually 96 percent of patients say they are extraordinarily happy with the procedure,” he told Inside Edition.

But a doctor who helped get LASIK approved the FDA is now campaigning to have the eye surgery banned. “Don’t do it! There’s no reason to do it! You’re just looking for trouble,” Dr. Morris Waxler said.

Paula Cofer says you should be very careful when considering having an irreversible procedure done to your eyes. “It’s your eyes, your only pair of eyes and it’s a one-way street. If it goes badly there’s no going back,” she told Indianapolis news station Fox 59.

Mugshot Madness: North Carolina Woman Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Faking Pregnancy

A woman from North Carolina will spend some time in prison for faking a pregnancy in order to receive Medicaid benefits and donations.

According to the New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office, 39-year-old Wendy George used a pregnant friend’s urine to obtain a positive pregnancy test that she then used to receive Medicaid benefits from the Department of Social Services.

The DA’s office said George also posted online about putting her “baby” up for adoption and got more than a dozen people to send her money for food, doctors’ appointments and housing. George also reportedly paid a friend who was actually pregnant $20 for an ultrasound image that she shared with donors.

Prosecutors said George found couples on adoption websites like Domestic Adoption Support Network, Expectant Moms Thinking of Adoption and Mommy’s Angels Support Group. George reportedly scammed more than a dozen people who thought they were paying George so they could adopt a baby.

George’s pregnancy scam was foiled by a couple from Ohio couple who called the police in Carolina Beach, N.C. and told them they’d been sending money to a woman who said she was pregnant and would let them adopt her baby, WWAY reported.

The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to 10 counts of obtaining property by false pretenses, and one count each of medical fraud and using a computer to perpetuate a fraud, the Wilmington Star News reported.

A judge sentenced George to up to five years in prison, followed by three years on supervised release.

No, Justin Bieber & Hailey Baldwin Don’t Have Head Lice Together

A viral tweet claiming that Hailey Baldwin said that she and Justin Bieber both had lice and she said it was “romantic that we have it at the same time” is totally fake.

It all started when a Twitter account disguising themselves as the popular celebrity news account Pop Crave tweeted this:

As you can see, the tweet racked up thousands of retweets and likes. The celebrity gossip blog Hollywood Unlocked even picked it up as a legitimate news story.

And Twitter had a field day with the fake news:

Thankfully, some Twitter users were smart enough to figure out the tweet wasn’t real and pointed out that the Twitter handle was NOT Pop Crave’s official account.

And here’s the original tweet after they changed their name and profile photo back:

The original tweeter has since apologized to Justin and Hailey for making the world think that they were romanticizing shared head lice:

And there you have it folks. You can’t just be out here believing EVERYTHING you read/see on the internet … even if it does sound somewhat plausible.

Pastor John Gray Defends Buying His Wife a $200,000 Lamborghini

John Gray, a South Carolina megachurch pastor, has been catching a lot of flack on social media for his decision to surprise his wife with a $200,000 Lamborghini Urus—one of the most expensive cars on the market.

Pastor John Gray—who heads Relentless Church in Greenville, S.C.—defended his actions in a lengthy Facebook Live video on Thursday (Dec. 13), saying that “not a nickel, not a penny” from his church went towards purchasing the gift, which was an eighth-anniversary present for his wife and fellow pastor, Aventer Gray. “May God take my life on this feed if I did,” he added.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sodyRRM4s3g

Gray’s critics were worried about the “optics” of the gift, with many suggesting that it looks bad to have a Christian leader shelling out nearly a quarter of a million dollars on a luxury vehicle. But Gray shrugged off the critics, saying that he used his own money to make the big purchase. He said that he didn’t buy the gift as a pastor, he bought it “as a man” looking to make his wife of nearly a decade happy.

“I’m 45. I’m supposed to wait ’til I’m 70 to live my best life? My best life is seeing my wife happy. It’s not like I’m sitting up trying to do something for me. I want my wife to be happy and every man should be able to do whatever is in his ability to do,” he said.

Pastor Gray said that his “heart is pure” after presenting the luxury vehicle to his wife during a wedding vow renewal party on December 8th. He said the revenue from his book deal, his reality show on the Oprah Winfrey Network, his savings and “wise investments” allowed him to purchase the lambo for his wife—not church money.

Defending his right to buy nice things for his family, Gray said that as long as what he does is “honorable, ethical and not illegal,” it’s nobody else’s business how he chooses to express love for his wife.

“The stories that I hear, and I’ve tried to not listen to it, but one of them is, ‘Pastor buys his wife, you know, this expensive car,'” John Gray said in the video. “First of all, it wasn’t a pastor that bought the car. It was a husband that bought the car.”

“I’m a husband first. Don’t confuse what I do with who I am,” he added. “What I do is, I pastor God’s people. Who I am is a husband and a father, and I’ll do anything to honor them, and I won’t ask permission from anybody to do it.”

Gray also quoted Bible verses from the Book of Ephesians during his Facebook Live video to explain why he spent $200K on a Lamborghini for his wife. He talked about the importance of a “good marriage,” explaining that he had never seen a successful marriage when he was growing up. And he said that since he had never seen a happy marriage, he used to worry that he would never be able to be a good husband.

Gray mentioned men in his family who had abandoned their wives and families, leaving the women to raise their children alone. “I grew up with those stories,” he said. “I grew up seeing physical abuse, seeing domestic violence.” Gray also talked about witnessing men in his family abusing drugs and committing adultery. “I swore to God I’d never perpetuate that,” he said. “I swore I’d be more.”

Taking a verse from Ephesians, Gray talked about the importance of being a good husband. “Here’s the truth, husbands love your wives like Christ loves the Church,” he said. “Even giving himself a ransom. That means give everything. Sow everything. Give the best of everything. And that’s where I’m at.”

Video footage of John Gray presenting his wife with the keys to the SUV during their vow renewal celebration earlier this month was widely viewed on social media. The Grays said that they didn’t post the video and that it was shared by someone else.

Still, the video sparked a ton of backlash online, with some people using it to suggest that Gray is a prosperity preacher, like Creflo Dollar, for instance. Prosperity theology is a religious belief among some Christians that suggests God wants all Christians to be prosperous and that material wealth is a sign of God’s favor.

Gray rejected the idea that he is a prosperity preacher in his Facebook Live video, saying instead that the gift was just him wanting to make his wife happy.

“My wife has pushed for my dreams and my vision. And she has toiled with a man who was still trying to find himself, and that carries a weight,” Pastor Gray said in Thursday’s video. “I wanted to honor her for how she has walked with me. I’ve covered her, she’s covered me.”

Gray said he came up with idea to buy his wife the Lamborghini Urus back in February when the couple saw a presentation about the new vehicle at a hotel. The vehicle, which premiered in December 2017, typically sells for $240K or more with options, and it’s one of the fastest SUVs in thew world, with the ability to go from zero to 60 in under 3.6 seconds.

“I saw my wife’s eyes light up,” he said, referring the moment she saw the SUV. “She said, ‘This would be a dream,’ and that’s all she had to say to me.” He said he spent the next 10 months planning how to purchase the SUV. “I’m a 45-year-old man, and I’ve worked my whole life,” he added. “I should be able to bless my wife.”

Aventer Gray came to her husband’s defense on social media, writing that when celebrities buy expensive gifts for their partners, it’s seen as “fun and cool,” but when pastors do it, “we are stealing.”

“I don’t see anyone screaming about how basketball players drive what they do while you paying $$$ to see them play in arenas and on fields,” Aventer Gray wrote last week in a since-deleted Instagram post. “We don’t live for people! We live for God!”

John Gray rose to fame as a former associate pastor at Houston’s Lakewood Church, the megachurch run by the popular American televangelist Joel Osteen.

Gray moved to Greenville, South Carolina to work at Relentless Church, a megachurch that was named Redemption Church (started by Apostle Ron Carpenter) and had five campuses and an active membership of 22,000 people when Gray took over in May.

Gray previously received backlash for being one of several black pastors who accepted an invitation to meet with President Donald Trump at the White House back in August. Gray has since said that while he initially thought the purpose of the meeting was to discuss prison reform, he now believes it was simply a photo opp for Trump.

On Sunday (Dec. 16), during a church worship service, Relentless Church members showed support for the Grays, giving Pastor Gray a round of applause when he mentioned the controversy over his wife’s new Lamborghini.

“I got one wife, I got one life, I got two kids, and while they’re alive, I’m going to do whatever I can to bless them,” he said in his Facebook Live video. “And I hope you do the same to your family.”

Earlier this month, Pastor Gray switched up the collection plate while blasting “pulpit pimps” during his sermon. He told his congregation that members in need should take cash from the offering plates instead of donating.

“For too long people have stood in a pulpit and told you to give, give, give,” he said. “Very rarely have I seen churches stop and said ‘leave the baskets out, let the people get what they need.’ We’ve got too many pulpit pimps who want to get fat off people but don’t want to meet the needs of the poor people.”

He added: “And Jesus said that’s who you supposed to be taking care of. We got widows, we got orphans, we’ve got single moms in here. We might not be able to do everything but we can do something. I wish we could do more but it’s the best we can do right now.”

“Are there any single mothers in here?” he asked. “You had an orange light in your gas tank when you pulled up, where are you? Come to the altar. Hurry. Single mothers. Are there any single fathers and you had less than a quarter tank of gas, where are you? Come to the altar, come to the altar.”

Cardi B Says Her Breakup With Offset is NOT a Publicity Stunt: “I Don’t Need No F**kin Publicity B**ch”

As Cardi B and Offset’s breakup continues to dominate gossip headlines, Cardi B wants the world to know that her split with her husband is the real deal, Holyfield.

Over the weekend, Offset pulled off an elaborate stunt that saw him crashing Cardi B’s Rolling Loud performance and begging her to take him back in front of a screaming audience of thousands of fans. The rapper appeared on stage with a cart of roses spelling out the words “Take Me Back Cardi.”

“I just wanted to tell you I’m sorry, bruh, in person, in front of the world,” Offset said. “I love you. Whatever I got to do to show that, I’ll do it.”

Cardi looked mortified, and the entire moment was captured on video and quickly went viral on social media, where some folks suggested that the whole thing was a publicity stunt.

Making matters even worse, a video clip surfaced showing Offset being led to Cardi’s stage by the “Money” rapper’s publicist Patience Foster.

Which begs the question, if this moment was so sincere, why was Patientce a part of it? Well, according to Cardi herself, Patientce is more than just her public relations manager—she’s family to both Cardi and Offset.

“That’s my bitch. That’s my homie. That’s like my big sister,” Cardi said on Instagram Live. “She’s not like any other publicist. She’s my friend.”

Cardi continued: “She has taken my husband and my sister as a client and she has helped us a lot. Yeah, sometimes she does a little bit more, you wanna know why? Because we are a family and she cares about my family. I’m not gonna let y’all drag her. I don’t give a f**k … I will never let y’all disrespect people this close to me.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0BJcoQeTt8

Cardi said she had no idea that Patientce and Offset were working in tandem for the viral stunt, and she’s in no way mad at Patientce because she knows she was just trying to do what she thought was best. “She was just trying to help a man that was telling her, ‘Yo, I love my wife. Please help me get my wife,'” Cardi said.

“I’m not gonna let y’all drag my bitch for that,” she added, threatening to delete her Instagram account and not drop her new music video for “Money” if her fans didn’t back off.

Cardi reiterated her sentiments in an Instagram Story post, writing: “Fan or not you talk about my publicist/friend you can eat a d**k period.”

Responding to a fan’s comment on Instagram, Cardi added: “She was there when I gave birth to my daughter and the only person I have kept [with] me since the beginning of my career cause everybody saw [me] as nothing but a piece of opportunity.

She continued: “You wanna know what’s sooo funny? The last publicist I had when I first got on TV told me if I don’t change the way I talk or act I won’t blow up because I wouldn’t appeal to big brands. [They] even [tried] to make me get a damn etiquette class. I found somebody who fit my personality and look how far we have [come]. You can’t be mad at somebody for trying to help somebody else.”

Foster responded to the note with her own caption: “For those of you who question where I stand with the people who MATTER!”

Cardi went on to say that she didn’t want people to criticize Offset for “f**king trying,” adding that she was also tired of people saying the rapper’s actions were a sign that he was trying to manipulate her.

“I’ve been married and y’all haven’t noticed that I be talking some sexual sh** and I be saying whatever I want and wanna know why? Because nobody can manipulate me to change who I am. Period. So stop with the sh**,” she said.

This comes after Cardi pleaded with fans to leave Offset alone.

“I don’t want people to keep doing f**k sh**, saying f**k sh**,” she said. “I just want things to die down. I just need time so we can see eye-to-eye. I can’t predict the future. I don’t know. But, the whole coming at my baby father bullsh**, that doesn’t make me feel any better, because at the end of the day, that’s family.

She added: “I’m not saying that I’m gonna get back together with him. I just don’t like that bashing online thing. I know how painful it is when you have millions of people bashing you every single day. I don’t like that, and it doesn’t make me feel any better. Period.”

Cardi also directly responded to claims that her breakup with Offset is a publicity stunt, saying that she doesn’t need the publicity.

She said in a profanity-laced rant on IG Live: “This year I was one of the most tweeted b**ches. This year I was one of the most searched b**ches even on f**king PornHub. Do you think I need f**king publicity hoe? F**k outta here. B**ch, I sell! F**k is you talking about? I don’t need no motherf**king publicity b**ch! Right now on my live there’s 101,000 viewers. You think I need f**king publicity, b**ch?”

She added: “Do you think I want n***as to be f**king talking sh** about my baby father? The n***a I conceived a kid with? No, so shut the f**k up. You think I wanna give these bum a** bitches clout. So what makes you think I wanna do this sh** for publicity?”

“Laverne & Shirley” Star Penny Marshall Dead at 75

Penny Marshall—actress, comedian and director—has died at the age of 75.

Marshall, best known for her starring role in the 1970s sitcom Laverne and Shirley was reportedly found dead at her home in Hollywood Hills Monday night (Dec. 17). According to TMZ, Marshall’s cause of death was complications from diabetes.

In addition to diabetes, Marshall dealt with a number of health issues during her final years. In 2010, it was reported that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer that had metastasized to her brain, but she revealed in 2012 that she was in remission.

“Well I had lung cancer and that mesta, whatever that word is (metastasized) on my brain,” she told FOX News in 2012. “I felt no pain or anything by the way. The rags said I had liver cancer, I don’t drink! They made up sh*t, I’m sorry about my language but I get pissed at these things. But I’m fine now.”

Marshall, the younger sister of Happy Days creator Garry Marshall, rose to fame in the 1970s when she starred in the spinoff series Laverne & Shirley.

She received three Golden Globe Awards nominations for “Best Actress in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy” for her role as Laverne DeFazio. The series ran from 1976 to 1983, making her and co-star Cindy Williams (who played Shirley Feeney) both household names.

When asked why thought the series was popular with viewers, Marshall told Fox it was because of how relatable the premise was.

“We were poor girls,” she explained. “We worked in a brewery. We had to make five bucks to make the rent. That’s what’s going on the country now. We were before our time. So I think it still appeals because we were working class.”

Marshall’s other acting credits include films like “Hocus Pocus” (1993), “Get Shorty” (1995) and “High Fidelity” (2000). She also did work behind the camera, making her directorial debut with the 1986 comedy “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” before going on helm a string of critically acclaimed and commercially successful films such as 1988’s “Big,” 1990’s “Awakenings,” 1992’s “A League of Their Own,” 1994’s “Renaissance Man” and 1996’s “The Preacher’s Wife.”

“Big” was the first film directed by a woman to gross more than $100 million at the U.S. box office and “A League of Their Own” was eventually chosen for preservation in the United States Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”

Marshall also produced the 2005 films “Cinderella Man” and “Bewitched,” as well as episodes of the ABC sitcom According to Jim (2001-2009).

Penny Marshall is survived by her 54-year-old daughter Tracy Reiner, whom she had with her first husband Michael Henry and was later adopted by Marshall’s second husband, director Rob Reiner. Tracy is an actress who has appeared in some of her parents’ best-known films, including “When Harry Met Sally…” (1989) and “A League of Their Own.”

Penny’s family released a statement on her death, saying: “Our family is heartbroken over the passing of Penny Marshall. Penny was a tomboy who loved sports, doing puzzles of any kind, drinking milk and Pepsi together and being with her family.”

Marshall’s family noted that she gave Mark Wahlberg his first acting job in “Renaissance Man.”

“As an actress, her work on ‘Laverne & Shirley’ broke ground featuring blue-collar women entertaining America in prime time,” Penny’s family added. “She was a comedic natural with a photographic memory and an instinct for slapstick. We hope her life continues to inspire others to spend time with family, work hard and make of their dreams come true.”

Penny’s ex-husband Rob Reiner, who spent 10 years of his life married to Marshall, wrote on Twitter: “I loved Penny. I grew up with her. She was born with a great gift. She was born with a funnybone and the instinct of how to use it. I was very lucky to have lived with her and her funnybone. I will miss her.”

Penny’s family says a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Mugshot Madness: Disney Channel Actor Arrested for Allegedly Trying to Have Sex With 13-Year-Old

A Disney Channel actor was arrested in Salt Lake City, Utah for allegedly arranging online to have sex with someone he believed was 13 years old.

48-year-old Stoney Westmoreland—who played the grandfather, Henry “Ham” Mack, on the Disney Channel series “Andi Mack”—was taken into custody on Friday (Dec. 14) by the Salt Lake City Police Department and the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force for allegedly enticing a minor by internet or text, and dealing in materials harmful to a minor, which are both felony charges.

According to court docs obtained by local news station KSL, Westmoreland began communicating with an online user he believed was just 13 on an app used for dating and setting up sexual encounters.

Westmoreland reportedly asked the person to engage in sexual acts with him and to send him nude pictures. The actor also sent pornographic photos to the person he thought was a minor.

Westmoreland was reportedly arrested after he was caught taking an Uber to meet up with the person he believed was 13.

Disney later released a statement saying that Westmoreland had been fired. “Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the welfare of employed minors, we have released him from his recurring role and he will not be returning to work on the series which wraps production on its third season next week,” the statement read.

Stoney Westmoreland’s other acting credits include “Breaking Bad,” “Scandal” and “Justified.” He also starred in the 1998 movie version of “Godzilla.”

Kenneka Jenkins’ Family Sues Chicago Hotel for $50 Million Over Teen’s Death in Freezer

More than a year after Kenneka Jenkins was found dead in the walk-in freezer at the Crowne Plaza Hotel near Chicago, the 19-year-old’s family has filed a negligence lawsuit for $50 million against the hotel.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Jenkins’ mother is suing the hotel, its security contractor and a restaurant that was allegedly renting the space where Jenkins’ body was found.

Jenkins disappeared in the early morning hours of September 9th, 2017 after attending a party held in a room of the Crowne Plaza. When her friends told her mother she was missing, her family immediately went to the hotel to look for her, but authorities weren’t able to find her body until nearly 24 hours later.

Surveillance footage later released by police showed the teen stumbling through the hallways of the hotel until she ended up in the kitchen. The moment she walked into the freezer wasn’t captured by security cameras.

The lawsuit states that the defendants—the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel, Capital Security and Investigations, and the Murray Bros. Caddyshack restaurant—were negligent for not securing the freezer, which was located in an unused kitchen, and for failing to conduct a proper search when Jenkins went missing from a party.

The court documents claim a sticker on the freezer door “was completely faded and failed to instruct how to release the lock system of the door.” An investigation from Rosemont police found the door’s opening mechanism was operating properly, but could only be activated by pressing the corresponding handle.

The lawsuit also claims that Jenkins walked past several hotel employees while she was wandering the hallways. “Had Crowne Plaza defendants and employees and/or agents of defendant Capital Security properly intervened when they observed (Jenkins) visibly disoriented, confused and lost within their premises, they would have prevented her from entering the abandoned kitchen and prevented her death,” it says.

An autopsy revealed that alcohol and a drug for treating epilepsy and migraines were found in Jenkins’ system. Her death was officially ruled an accident.

The lawsuit also blames the security company for failing to stop the party Jenkins attended. Dozens of people were hanging out in a room meant for just four people, a smoke detector had been disabled and the odor of “strong intoxicants” was evident, the lawsuit says.

The lawsuit contends that if security guards had broken up the party, Jenkins would not have died. The suit also says that the Murray Bros. Caddyshack restaurant should have properly secured the kitchen and made sure the empty freezer was turned off.

A Crowne Plaza spokesman challenged the lawsuit’s allegations, calling Jenkins death “a tragedy” but denying any responsibility or wrongdoing.

The hotel said that the “proximate cause of her death were the unsavory individuals who used a stolen credit card to book a room and host an illegal party which Ms. Jenkins attended” on the night of her death. “Those criminals escaped the hotel before police arrived and have never truly been held accountable,” the hotel’s statement continued. “This lawsuit has no merit and we will vigorously contest it.”

Kim Porter died on November 15th at her home in Los Angeles. Her cause of death has yet to be determined, however, sources close to her said she was sick with flu-like symptoms in the weeks prior to her death.

Diddy and Porter dated on and off for 13 years between 1994 and 2007 and have three children together: 20-year-old son Christian, who raps under the moniker “King Combs” and twin daughters D’Lila Star and Jessie James. Snoop Dogg Blasts Kanye West Over Drake Tweets: “Somebody Take That Ni**a Phone!”

It’s clear whose side Snoop Dogg is on when it comes to this whole Kanye West vs. Drake thing.

The Hip-Hop veteran took a moment out of his busy day of smoking weed to call out Kanye following his Twitter rampage aimed at Drake.

In a video he posted on Instagram over the weekend, with Drake’s 2013 song “From Time” playing in the background, Snoop slammed Kanye after the “I Love It” rapper accused Drake of “threatening” his family and “sneak dissing” him.

“Is y’all getting tired of Kanye West and these tweets? Cause I am,” Snoop said. “I see why n***a, you and Donald Trump hangout. N***a, y’all tweet like a mothaf**ka, cuz! I think that n***a need Dr. Phil or Maury or … You know what? That n***a need Jerry Springer.”

Snoop went on to suggest that somebody “take that n***a phone” because “he acting a plum damn fool.” He continued: “Get your ass off your phone n***a and go holla at that n***a in real life. Stop telling the whole fucking world what you’re going through. We don’t give a f**k!”

This isn’t the first time Snoop has gone in on Kanye in recent months.

The 47-year-old rapper has made it known on multiple occasions that he does not agree with Kanye’s support of Donald Trump. And back in October, he alluded to the “Kiki” Drake was talking about in “In My Feelings” was Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian, which isn’t true at all, but it made for a good troll from Snoop.

“I may be on the late freight but I just found out who Kiki was,” Snoop said. “Kiki is your b**ch. That’s why you’re so mad! ‘Cause Drake put d**k in your b**ch,” he exclaimed. “He did, huh? […] I liked the song but I ain’t know why I like it, now I really like it.”

Not too long after Snoop posted the video, Kanye shared the following photo on Twitter:

Kobe Bryant Gets High School Students Out of Exam With Retweet

Kobe Bryant just made Christmas a whole lot better for a group of high school students in California.

A San Benito High School student named April Garcia tweeted out a photo asking Bryant to give her school a shoutout on Twitter so that her class wouldn’t have to take their final exam.

Garcia’s teacher, Mr. Albert E. Torruco, told the class that if Kobe tweeted a shoutout to San Benito High by December 17th, they wouldn’t have to take their scheduled exam the following week and would instead take an alternate exam.

“Help my class out !! #retweet @kobebryant,” April tweeted.

Incredibly enough, the Black Mamba delivered with two days to spare.

He tweeted on Saturday (Dec. 15): “Alternate exam? How about no exam at all @_aprilgarcia_ #MerryChristmas.”

Can you say real MVP?!

Snapchat Still Can’t Figure Out How to Make Money

Unlike Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, social media’s youngest sibling is having problems turning a profit.

According to the Motley Fool (via IB Times), Snap, Inc. is quickly transitioning itself as a direct sales business into a self-serve platform to sell ads to its flagship app Snapchat.

In other words, this is Snap, Inc’s last-ditch effort to prove to the big boys that they can generate revenue.

TMF reports:

The self-serve approach enables Snap to reach a much broader audience of marketers. In fact, the auction dynamics of the self-serve platform are heavily reliant on Snap attracting a critical mass of advertisers in order to bid up average ad prices.

During Snap’s third-quarter earnings call, CEO Evan Spiegel said, “We have a significant opportunity to grow the number of active advertisers.” A recent survey from eMarketer makes that very clear. Just 28% of U.S. marketers use Snapchat, according to the research firm. That compares to 69% of marketers using Instagram and 86% using Facebook.

However, while there’s a massive opportunity to increase its penetration of marketers, Snap hasn’t done a very good job of it. Snap’s active advertiser penetration in the U.S. is up just 13% year over year, according to the survey. By comparison, Instagram’s advertiser penetration is up nearly 11% on a much larger base.

In other words, it makes more sense for advertisers to spend their marketing dollars on Instagram vs. Snapchat, which, obviously, is a huge problem for Snapchat.

The Motley Fool’s article continues:

Snap has invested a lot of time and money in developing its self-serve ad platform and new ad products that might appeal to smaller advertisers. Smaller advertisers tend to be more focused on direct-response ads, which produce instant results — a website click, an app download, a sale, etc. To that end, Snap has created several new ad formats as well as improved its measurement capabilities.

However, just because it built all of these capabilities for small advertisers doesn’t mean they’ll come flocking to Snap. The company still has a lot of work to do to onboard more advertisers to the platform. It’s spent $300 million on sales and marketing through the first nine months of 2018. That’s down from $412 million in 2017. And while investors might see that as the company becoming more efficient, it’s ultimately going to limit the number of new advertisers it brings onboard.

Perhaps the biggest challenge for Snap in attracting advertisers is that marketers don’t really use Snapchat organically, as eMarketer’s Debra Aho Williamson points out. Snap redesigned its app at the beginning of the year to “separate the social from the media.” In effect, Snap curtailed the ability for marketers and influencers to reach a wide audience.

By comparison, Facebook and Instagram encourage marketers to join the platform and produce organic content. 90 million business have a Facebook Page set up to share content with their audiences. Over 25 million have an Instagram Business profile. Facebook offers businesses free tools to find and engage an audience on its platforms, and then asks if they’d like to spend money on premium features later. Snapchat just asks marketers for their money upfront.

Instagram also benefits from its relationship with Facebook. Marketers can buy Instagram ads on the same platform they buy Facebook ads, and they can use the same targeting data available through Facebook. So, Instagram has a major advantage in getting its ad products in front of marketers efficiently.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai Explains to Congress Why Googling “Idiot” Shows Donald Trump

Google CEO Sundar Pichai was recently put in the awkward position of explaining to Congress why photos of Donald Trump were being presented when people searched for the word “idiot” on Google’s world famous search engine.

On Tuesday, December 11th, 2018, refuting Rep. Zoe Lofgren’s (Democrat-California) tongue-in-cheek suggestion that “a little man sitting behind a curtain” was manipulating Google’s SERPS, or “Search Engine Result Pages,” Sundar Pichai said that Google doesn’t “manually intervene” when it comes to searches.

Pichai explained:

“We provide search today for any time you type in a keyword. We, as Google, have gone out and crawled and stored copies of billions of their pages in our index, and we take the keyword and match it against the pages and rank them based on over 200 signals.

“Things like relevance, freshness, popularity, how other people are using it. And based on that, you know, at any given time, we try to find the best results for that query.”

Pichai added that we, as human beings, should be worried about the downsides of artificial intelligence.

In an interview with Washington Post, Pichai said that AI tools will need a set of ethical guardrails and will require companies to think deeply about how technology can be abused, otherwise, we’re all in for a world of trouble.

“I think tech has to realize it just can’t build it and then fix it,” Pichai said. “I think that doesn’t work.” Pichai noted that tech giants in positions of power ensure that artificial intelligence with “agency of its own” doesn’t harm humankind.

The tech executive, who is himself placed in a position of power and runs a whole company that uses AI in many of its products, including its powerful search engine, said he’s optimistic about the long-term benefits of technology, however, his assessment of AI’s potential downsides correlates with that of critics who’ve warned about the potential for misuse and abuse.

Advocates and technologists have been warning folks about how the power of artificial intelligence could be used to embolden authoritarian regimes, empower mass surveillance and spread misinformation, among other possibilities.

In fact, SpaceX and Tesla Founder Elon Musk once said that one day, AI could prove to be “far more dangerous than nukes.”

He told the Post: “Sometimes I worry people underestimate the scale of change that’s possible in the mid- to long-term, and I think the questions are actually pretty complex.” Pichai added that AI, if handled properly, could have “tremendous benefits,” including helping doctors detect issues such as eye disease and other ailments through automated scans of health data.

“Regulating a technology in its early days is hard, but I do think companies should self-regulate,” he told the newspaper. “This is why we’ve tried hard to articulate a set of AI principles. We may not have gotten everything right, but we thought it was important to start a conversation.”

Pichai, who joined Google in 2004 and became the company’s CEO just 11 years later, said AI is “one of the most important things that humanity is working on” and said the technology could be “more profound” for human society than “electricity or fire.”

However, Pichai said that even with scientists’ good intentions with AI, the race to build machines that can operate without human interference has rekindled fears that Silicon Valley’s disruption culture could someday result in technology that harms people and eliminates jobs.

HQ Trivia & Vine Co-Founder Colin Kroll Found Dead of Apparent Drug Overdose

Colin Kroll, the CEO and co-founder of the popular HQ Trivia app, was found dead early Sunday morning (Dec. 16) of a suspected drug overdose. He was 35 years old.

According to TMZ, Kroll’s girlfriend called police early Sunday to do a welfare check after she was unable to get in touch with him.

When police arrived at his Manhattan apartment, he was found unresponsive lying face down in his bed with drug paraphernalia nearby and pronounced dead at the scene by EMS responders, the Daily Beast reported.

Police are investigating Kroll’s death as a possible overdose, however, an official cause of death will be released by the New York City medical examiner’s office.

An NYPD official told The Daily Beast that the drugs recovered near Kroll included envelopes that contained white powder substances believed to be heroin and/or cocaine.

Kroll was named CEO of HQ Trivia in 2015. HQ Trivia is an app that goes live twice a day on weekdays (once on weekends) and allows users to play along in a live game show via their smartphones.

Kroll co-founded HQ with Rus Yusopov, and the game debuted on iOS in August 2017 and was immediately a smash hit. An Android version was released a few months later in December.

HQ users compete with hundreds of thousands (sometimes millions) of other players and whoever answers all 12 trivia questions correct gets to split the prize money, which can be as low as $5,000 or as high as $400,000. According to Time Magazine, more than 2 million people logged onto their phones during the Oscars to play the game.

Before taking over HQ Trivia, Kroll was an adviser for Twitter. He also co-founded the now-defunct app Vine, and had previously been the CTO (Chief Technology Officer) for Jetsetter.

HQ Trivia was reportedly having problems in recent months, and the app was steadily losing its audience. In January 2018, HQ was in the top list of most downloaded iPhone games, according to TMZ, and now sits between #250 and 500. Kroll was also dealing with an H.R. complaint by an HQ employee for his “aggressive management style,” TMZ reported.

The year before Kroll was named CEO of HQ Trivia, he was fired from Twitter after he was determined to a “bad manager.” According to the New York Post, allegations had surfaced that he had “creepy” and “inappropriate” interactions with female colleagues, however, no sexual harassment claims were ever filed.

Kroll apologized earlier this year for saying things in the workplace “that made some people feel unappreciated or uncomfortable.”

A spokeswoman for HQ Trivia said of Kroll’s passing: “We learned today of the passing of our friend and founder, Colin Kroll, and it’s with deep sadness that we say goodbye. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”

Rus Yusupov, Kroll’s Vine and HQ Trivia co-founder, reacted in a tweet, saying: “So sad to hear about the passing of my friend and co-founder Colin Kroll. My thoughts & prayers go out to his loved ones. I will forever remember him for his kind soul and big heart. He made the world and internet a better place. Rest in peace, brother.”

Kroll, Yusupov and Dom Hofmann launched Vine in 2013, and Kroll was the company’s general manager between 2013 and 2014. Before Vine and HQ Trivia, Kroll also served as an engineering manager at Yahoo! for 2 years between 2007 and 2009.

Kroll and Yusupov had recently announced plans to launch another app, “HQ Words,” a Wheel of Fortune-style game.

Hilarious Meme Accurately Describes the Whole Kanye and Kim Kardashian West vs. Drake Thing

A hilarious meme that oh so accurately paints a vivid picture of this whole “Kanye and Kim Kardashian West vs. Drake” debacle is making the rounds on Twitter.

The meme itself isn’t new, but the way that it’s used is. A black man is rapping, pretty horribly, tbh, and his white lady friend is hyping him the hell up in the background. If you can’t see how this relates to Kim and Kanye by now, I don’t know what to say to you.

Check it out and see for yourself below:

The latest drama between Kanye and Drake began on Thursday when Ye took to Twitter and claimed the “God’s Plan” rapper threatened his family, targeted people suffering from mental illness and contacted his wife and mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, behind his back.

The next day, supporting her husband, Kim tweeted: “My husband is the most brilliant person, the most genius person that I know. He has broken so many boundaries, everything from music, stage design, fashion and culture and will continue to change the world.” She also warned Drake to “never threaten my husband or our family,” arguing that Kanye “paved the way for there to be a Drake.”

Even though Kim Kardashian West is out here riding for her man (as she should, honestly, because she is his wife, after all) she reportedly wants to move on from all the drama and put the controversy behind them.

“Kim spent Friday in L.A. while Kanye was still in N.Y.C.,” a source told People. “Kim doesn’t plan on making another comment about the drama and she asked Kanye to do the same. Clearly he is not doing well again. Kim just wants him off Twitter.”

Cardi B Wants Fans to Leave Her “Baby Father” Offset Alone

Cardi B didn’t look too pleased with Offset after he crashed her Rolling Loud performance last night.

Cardi was in the middle of her performing Saturday (Dec. 15) at the Rolling Loud festival in Los Angeles when Offset took over the stage in his latest attempt to beg for her forgiveness in front of the whole world. This came not too long after he and 21 Savage got the crowd to chant “Cardi, take Offset back!”

“I just want to tell you I’m sorry,” Offset said to Cardi, who clearly looked annoyed and/or pissed and/or terrified. “You’re my best friend in the world. Whatever I got to do to show I love you, I’ll do.”

Following Offset’s stunt, Cardi took to Instagram to thank her fans for their love and support. She said she also appreciates folks for coming to her defense, but she doesn’t want them to attack her husband, estranged or not.

“I don’t want people to keep doing f**k sh**, saying f**k sh**,” she said.

“I just want things to die down. I just need time so we can see eye-to-eye,” she continued. “I can’t predict the future. I don’t know. But, the whole coming at my baby father bullsh**, that doesn’t make me feel any better, because at the end of the day, that’s family.” (Notice how she called him her “baby father” and not her “husband.”)
