Tyga’s “The Gold Album” Only Sold 2,200 Copies Its First Week Out

Tyga isn’t really bothered by his fourth studio album ‘The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty’ being a total flop.

Yesterday, Complex reported on Tyga’s album (executive produced by Kanye West) only selling 2,200 copies in it’s first week according to SoundScan. The website also noted that Tyga’s sells were even worse than Troy Ave, who sold a measly 4,300 copies of his debut album.

As for Tyga defense, his battle with Cash Money caused the album (originally due out last November) to be delayed until he was finally able to release it on Spotify last month (Jun 23) without any form of promotion.

Tyga, of course responded to Complex’s story and explained how he put the album out for free and has already gotten “millions of streams.”

Ha. We all know Spotify streams aren’t worth isht. Poor Tyga.

Dej Loaf Got Into Fist Fight With Former Manager During BET Awards Soundcheck

Dej Loaf wasn’t playing around when she made her hit single “Try Me.”

During a soundcheck this past Saturday for the 2015 BET Awards, the pint-sized rapper allegedly got into a physical altercation with one of her former managers.

According to TMZ, Loaf was at a rehearsal Saturday (Jun 27) when two of her former managers showed up unannounced.

We are told Dej Loaf and the hired help ended on bad terms just a week ago. The 2 managers wanted to “talk it out” with her and, needless to say, it didn’t go well.

Dej Loaf, her brother and her new management got into a scuffle with the old manager… leaving him with a cut forehead. The manager went to the hospital for stitches.

Despite the scuffle that went down, Dej appeared to be all smiles on the red carpet Sunday night, rocking an all black see-thru dress.

Check out a few pics below:

On Monday (Jun 29), she sent out a tweet about how the media only reports on the bad instead of focusing on the good.

Dej’s former manager Detroit Charlie spoke with The FADER about the incident:

“Long story short. Fame change things. This is a very unfortunate situation. I hope we can all find our senses and the love that got us this far. I only wanna see DeJ become the legend we set out to make her.”

A source close to the situation explained that Dej herself wasn’t involved in the actual fight, and another source claimed no one was sent to the hospital. “Her camp leaked the story with spin than an ex-manager was hospitalized,” they said. “This is false.”

“The altercation happened because DeJ Loaf and camp feels like the former management had no right to attend awards,” the second source continued. “It was not a new manager nor DeJ Loaf involved in the altercation. Both of DeJ Loaf’s brothers and hype man Oba Rowland attempted to gang up on one of the former managers.

“He knocked out one brother, then it was broken up. The other brother hit the unnamed manager with a heel, causing a small cut on the top of his head. This did not require hospitalization…It’s a shame that someone took this as an opportunity to slander and make up lies.”

Puff Daddy Threw A Huge Bad Boy Reunion at the 2015 BET Awards

Just days after getting into a physical altercation with a UCLA football coach over his son that landed him in jail, Sean “Diddy” Combs (formerly known as “Puff Daddy”) called on his Bad Boy Records family for a huge reunion performance at the 2015 BET Awards.

The 11-minute performance, which was a celebration of Bad Boy’s 20th anniversary, was lauded as one of the best moments of the night, and featured several of the label’s biggest artists from back in the 90’s, like Ma$e, Lil Kim, 112 and Faith Evans.

This is how everything went down, according to our friends at Rap-Up:

The 11-minute Bad Boy reunion kicked off with Puff and Ma$e on “Feel So Good,” donning their signature red leather outfits. 112 followed, bringing “Peaches & Cream,” as it segued quickly into Diddy’s “I Need a Girl Part Two.” Faith Evans arrived in a red mink for “Love Like This,” and pandemonium ensued.

The momentum remained for Bad Boy 2.0 artist French Montana as he delivered his verse from Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot Ni**a (Remix).” Biggie’s verse from Total’s “Can’t You See” set off the classic “All About the Benjamins” with Jadakiss and Sheek Louch front and center.

Of course it couldn’t be complete without the Queen Bee. Rising from beneath the stage like a phoenix, Lil’ Kim asked “Wanna bumble with the bee, huh?” spitting her “Benjamins” verse over the beat to “Queen Bitch.”

While the crowd was still amped, Ma$e and Puff returned for “Mo Money Mo Problems” and Biggie’s voice could be heard as the track emanated over the award show airwaves.

Diddy capped it off by debuting his new single “Finna Get Loose” with help from Pharrell, while Chris Brown danced through the aisles and Janelle Monáe joined her Bad Boy family, making this reunion a most memorable one.

GTFOH: Young Thug Says Kanye West Called Him the New Bob Marley

Kanye West thinks that Young Thug is a modern day Bob Marley … or at least that’s what Young Thug is telling the world.

In the past, Yeezy has been known for making outlandish comparisons of current and new coming artists to actual real legends, once even comparing himself to Michael Jordan, Steve Jobs, Walt Disney and Michael Jackson.

At Big Sean’s private listening party back in 2011 at the Standard Hotel, Kanye was quoted saying his protege could be as big as Beyonce.

So it shouldn’t have come as a surprise when Young Thug told Rolling Out magazine in his new cover story that Kanye donned him as Bob Marley and wants to do a whole album with the “Lifestyle” rapper.

“[Kanye] didn’t have a phone for like three or four years,” Young Thug says. “When I first met him, I went to his house and he was like, ‘We gotta keep in touch; here’s my email.’ But he came on tour with Travis Scott and me. [Kanye] said he has a phone now because he has a wife. So he had to get a phone. But he called me Bob Marley. We [were] backstage at one of the tour dates at the Staples Center in L.A. and Kanye was backstage. He had a Beats Pill and was like, ‘I wanna hear all of your music in the world that’s not out.’ So I was letting him hear all the music. Then he said I was like Bob Marley and he wanted to do an album with me. I was like, ‘Let’s roll!’ He’s a fan. So that leads back to me saying fans are the main reason you stay motivated and become who you want to be. Kanye is like my brother, but he’s a real fan. He bought me some Yeezys and went on eBay to get them for me. That’s motivation.”

Young Thug and Bob Marley? GTFOH, Kanye! Bob Marley is rolling in his grave as I type this.

Kendrick Lamar Opens the 2015 BET Awards with “Alright” Performance

In the wake of the Confederate flag controversy, the always politically conscious Kendrick Lamar repped the American Flag hard in his performance for his latest single “Alright,” which opened the 2015 BET Awards.

Via Rap-Up:

The performance was full of hiii power. K-Dot arrived on stage standing on a graffiti-embossed police car flanked by a gigantic tattered American flag as he ricocheted bars from “Alright.”

Compton’s own brought out the big guns, as his backup dancers landed from stage to audience—waving flags and breakdancing in TDE tees.

In the middle of the performance, an army of civilians marched on stage, surrounding the rapper cypher-style, as he tossed his impassioned verses around, receiving a standing ovation from his fiancée Whitney Alford, Robin Thicke, and BET boss Debra Lee.

Needless to say, Kendrick’s performance was everything but “alright.”

President Obama Leads the Crowd in “Amazing Grace” at Rev. Pinckney’s Funeral

In a touching moment, as President Obama closed his eulogy for his late friend, Rev. Clementa Pinckney, who was gunned down last week by racist mass shooter Dylann Roof, he led the crowd at the funeral at Charleston’s TD Arena in song with “Amazing Grace.”

Before singing the popular hymn, Obama talked about the racist motivation behind the shooting, saying that it “raises questions about a dark past of our history.” He also said the Confederate flag was a “reminder of systemic oppression and racial subjugation.”

“It’s true, the flag did not cause these murders,” Obama said, but “we all have to acknowledge the flag has always represented more than just ancestral pride. For many, black and white, that flag was a reminder of systemic oppression and racial subjugation. We see that now.”

“By taking down that flag,” he said, “we express God’s grace.”
