Mugshot Madness: Tommie from “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” Has One Helluva Criminal Background

“Love and Hip Hop Atlanta” newcomer Tommie is a match made in heaven for her boyfriend Scrapp DeLeon.

On last night’s episode of the show, we learned Tommie doesn’t play around when it comes to Scrapp after things popped off between her and Scrapp’s baby mama Tiarra at Mimi’s “coming out” party.

Well, turns out Tommie is certainly about that life, and, like her ex-felon bf Scrapp, she’s no stranger to run-ins with the law. The girl has mugshots on mugshots ON MUGSHOTS.

Mugshots from her lengthy arrest record were released after the episode aired … and they date all way back to 2003.

According to an unconfirmed e-mail tip sent to Fameolous.com, “Tommie” isn’t even her real name. It’s reportedly “Atasha Jefferson” (though not confirmed) and she is supposedly wanted in Minnesota for a “fraud case she caught with Karen King.”

As we previously reported, Scrapp, his brother Sas, and their mother Karen “KK” King (who all appear on the show) were arrested in the past for their involvement with the severe brutal beating and kidnapping of Karen’s ex boyfriend Lyndon Baines Smith, however, their charges were later dropped due to lack of evidence.

Scrapp is currently in jail serving time after being found guilty in January for trafficking marijuana and could face up to five years.

A recent post from Scrapp’s IG also confirmed his arrest.

So, the fact that Tommie rides with Scrapp and his family, it shouldn’t surprise anybody that she stays in and out of jail. Hopefully being on the show will slow her down. But probably not.

As for Tommie’s lengthy criminal background, which includes dozens (DOZENS!) of arrests, Starcasm has more on that:

We can’t confirm that Atasha Jefferson and LHHATL‘s Tommie are indeed the same person. What we do know, however, is that some of the claims the [Fameolous] tipster made regarding Atasha Jefferson appear to be at least partially true. Atasha C. Jefferson–who in turn goes by the alias Atasha Chizzaah Moore–was booked into the DeKalb County (GA) Jail on May 2nd, 2013, on one first degree felony charge. Jefferson posted a $3,500 bail and was released four days later.

Before that, the Atasha Jefferson arrest records include an appearance in court in Gwinnett County Court (also in Georgia) back in 2010. In that instance, Jefferson faced three charges: one count of “Giving False Name, Address, Or Birthdate” on June 19th of that year; one count of driving while her license was suspended, on the same day; and one count of driving while her registration was suspended, also on the same day. Jefferson received twelve months’ probation on the first charge; she received verdicts of “Nolle Prosequi” [i.e. charges were dropped] on the latter two charges, though the reason why isn’t immediately clear from the court record.

Atasha Jefferson’s arrest records are longest in Fulton County, which includes most of the city of Atlanta, and Clayton County, slightly north of the city. She was arrested nine times in Fulton between 2006 and 2014, on a variety of different charges: three different counts of battery (one of which involves–for real–a bus hijacking); five counts of shoplifting; and, most recently, of the more general “Theft of Service.” And, as far as Clayton goes, Jefferson went to court on thirteen different charges there, several of which, again in 2010, involved forgery.

In addition, the most recent Fulton County record lists a Florida address for Jefferson. That would appear to sync up with the Fameolous article–but the only Atasha Jefferson arrest record we could find in the state of Florida involved a car accident, and not theft, as the anonymous tipster alleged. Court records indicate that Atasha was actually not even arrested after being charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash on August 18th, 2014; she received a $50 fine and was released on her own recognizance.

It doesn’t look like there are any pending warrants or previous arrests for Jefferson in Miami. The claim that she is wanted for forgery in Minnesota, however, appears to have at least some truth to it. There is an outstanding warrant for Atasha Chizaah Jefferson (the spelling of “Chizzaah” differs almost from county to county) in the state, on the charge of a probation violation stemming from identity theft. The warrant is dated February 8th, 2013; it may be worth pointing out that 2013 was also the first year since 2007 that Atasha was not arrested in the state of Georgia.

Meanwhile, Tommie seems unbothered by her mugshot gallery and criminal background being leaked online. This is what she posted on Instagram:

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta: Tommie & Tiarra’s Fight Ruins Mimi’s Party, Tammy Rivera Attacks Betty Idol

It’s about to be a … GIRL FIGHT! Well, actually two. Monday night’s (Apr 11) episode of “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” started with one fight, and ended with another.

The first fight went down at Mimi‘s all-white affair celebrating the announcement of her new boo Chris Gould.

Last week, we were introduced to a group of new cast members: The “notorious” King Family, which includes Karen “KK” King (whose first national TV appearance was “America’s Most Wanted”) and her ex-felon sons Scrapp DeLeon and Sas, as well as Scrapp’s baby mama Tiarra and his girlfriend Tommie.

If you’ll recall, in last week’s episode, Tommie enlisted the help of the always messy Karlie Redd to spy on Tiarra at her part-time waitressing job.

While there, Karlie and Co. set their plan in motion to lure Tiarra to Mimi’s event so that they could get the tea on her relationship with Scrapp — not to be confused with LHHATL veteran Lil Scrappy, who has more than enough baby mama drama of his own to deal with.

Still, Karlie seemed to be shocked when Tiarra “actually showed up” to the party that she invited her to. Why wouldn’t she show up, Karlie? You did invite her, right?

Meanwhile, Tommie is pissed because Scrapp told her that he was going to tell Tiarra that they’ve been messing around for the past year, and judging by her happy go lucky demeanor at the party, Tommie knows that Scrapp ain’t told her a dayum thang.

Tommie and Tiarra spark a conversation, and in the middle of their discussion about what Tiarra does for a living, Tommie comes for Tiarra, asking her “When are you a mom?” which completely blindsides Tiarra, and from there, all hell breaks loose.

Tiarra asks Tommie how she knows anything about her parenting skills, and Tommie’s response is that she knows her baby daddy and she “sits on his dick” almost every other night.

Yeah, “that bitch” who doesn’t wear any panties, lol. Drinks were tossed, punches were thrown, vaginas (and p**sy hairs, according to Karlie) were exposed, and Mimi’s party was ruined.

Later in the episode, we are introduced to yet another set of new faces: transgender music producer D. Smith and her bestie Betty Idol.

After D. Smith makes her debut in a breast cancer awareness fashion show, Tammy Rivera-Malphurs considers working with her for her own fashion line, and is shocked to learn that Smith is “transitioning from male to female.”

Prior to their meeting, however, D. Smith was informed via her friend Betty Idol that Tammy’s husband, rapper Waka Flocka Flame, is not very LGBT tolerant (based on him criticizing Caitlyn Jenner and her supporters), and she tells Tammy that she’ll have to “think about” working with her. It’s not a definite no, but it’s not a solid yes either.

In another meeting, this time with Betty Idol, who D. Smith feels will be perfect as a model for Tammy’s line, things don’t end as well.

Betty Idol still “feels some type of way” about Waka’s comments (which is odd because she seems more invested in the situation than D. Smith) and Tammy, who makes it clear that she did not come here for her, throws a drink in her face and a fight ensues, which we won’t get to see until next week.

Hell hath no fury like a baby mama scorned.

Ciara may have once been well known for her catchy R&B hits like “Ride,” “1,2 Step” and “Promise,” but these days she’s more known for who she’s dating (Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, her fiance) and who she’s dated (Future, her baby daddy).

While Ciara’s music career remains firmly on life support, (what kind of artist tells her fans she’s canceling a leg of her tour so she can focus on her new album?) she’s remained incredibly visible thanks to paparazzi shots, red carpet appearances and hosting duties.

Her latest hosting duty was alongside Ludacris, her one-time collaborator on her hit song “Oh,” as they announced the nominees for the 2016 Billboard Music Awards on Good Morning America Monday morning (Apr 11).

Everything was going peachy keen right until they got to the Best Rap Artist category, which counted her ex-fiance Future among the nominees.

Ciara, who is currently suing her ex for defamation, refused to speak Future’s name when it came time to do so during the broadcast and poor Ludacris had to scramble to fill the awkward silence as it all went down on live television.

After watching her music career essentially go up in smoke (we’d all be better off if her dreadful collaboration with Britney Spears never happened), the one thing Iggy still had going for her was that she was slated to be boo’d up with her baller boyfriend, Los Angeles Lakers player Nick Young.

But Iggy’s rosy romance with Young turned a few shades darker when he was formally accused of sexual harassment last month, according to Sports Illustrated. Then there was that time D’Angelo Russell exposed him on video admitting to cheating with a 19-year-old woman.

Iggy has remained largely quiet since the scandals broke, but now, in an interview with the Orlando & the Freakshow radio show, she lets it all hang out.

Asked how she felt about athletes cheating on their wives and girlfriends, regarding her own personal situation, Iggy said:

“I’m not cool with it. Like, you will have half a penis. I already said, I was like, one more video, just one more thing, and you will lose a quarter of your meat.”

Madea Gets in “Formation” and Pays Homage to Beyoncé

It may not be a chart-topper, but there’s no denying the cultural impact of Beyoncé‘s Black power anthem “Formation.”

The creole diva debuted the song and video on TIDAL the day before the Super Bowl and performed the song to the unwashed masses at the big game. The black community has stood firm in solidarity with Queen Bey as white folks have had complete hissy fits over a song that praises babies for having baby hair and “Jackson 5 nostrils.”

Count Tyler Perry among those who see fit to salute Beyonce. Not that there was ever any doubt that Mr. Perry was a card-carrying member of the Beygency (you know “Freakum Dress” is his personal anthem), but just in case there ever was, let that doubt dissipate like Naomi Campbell’s hairline from now on.

Texas Youth Pastor Caught Molesting 6-Year-Old Boy Gets Well-Deserved Beatdown

A youth pastor from Texas is facing serious charges after he was caught molesting a 6-year-old boy.

29-year-old Willie Bell was reportedly beaten up by witnesses on March 31st after they caught him molesting the child behind an apartment building.

Bell is also accused of recently sexually assaulting two other boys.

A Cedar Hill youth pastor is accused of sexually assaulting three boys. Up until his arrest, Willie Lee Bell Jr. ministered to children at First United Methodist Church of Cedar Hill.

Police say Bell lured and sexually assaulted the boys at an apartment in February and was caught in the act last week at a Dallas apartment. He is facing charges for two sexual assaults of little boys in Cedar Hill.

The mother of the most recent victim, who didn’t want to be identified, says her 6-year-old kindergartner was lured behind an apartment building while he was playing outside.

“It’s painful. It’s devastating. It’s a nightmare,” the mom said.

Witnesses caught a man abusing her child Thursday afternoon. The mom says bystanders attacked Bell to stop him.

“If it wasn’t for them, he probably would have done more to my child,” said the mom.

Dallas police arrested the 29-year-old in West Oak Cliff. Police say two young boys said a man abused them behind their apartment complex on East Little Creek Road in February. The boys said the man was wearing “church shoes.”

United Methodist Church of North Texas said, in a statement, it has no knowledge of any criminal acts happening at the church, and that it’s cooperating with police.

The principal at Bray Elementary in Cedar Hill also sent emails to parents, notifying them that Bell had been inside the school to meet with a principal about setting up a mentorship program. The program never happened, and the school says Bell was never left alone with a student.

“When I heard he is a student pastor, I’m like really?” the mom said. “Who can you trust? Who can you believe?”

Bell is a stranger to the mother and her family. He did not live at their apartment complex. Court records show Bell has been accused of showing pornographic videos to a child in Tennessee. No other details were immediately available in that case.

“They will be fed both days and it’s not necessary parents stay with them. Just a couple hours this evening. Inbox me for details.”

Wow.

It’s sad that we live in a world where you can’t even trust pastors/preachers around your kids. And what’s even sadder is if this sick bastard wasn’t caught, who knows how many more children he would have sexually assaulted?

Orlando Brown Threatens TMZ’s Harvey Levin, Accuses Raven Symone of Aborting His Baby in Bizarre Music Video

Former child star Orlando Brown (of “That’s So Raven” fame) is calling TMZ‘s owner Harvey Levin and his staff out in his new music video for a song called “F*ck My Fame.”

Brown’s beef with TMZ stems over a story they reported about him getting arrested in January for allegedly attacking his girlfriend in a police station parking lot. Once Brown was brought into custody, cops found methamphetamine on his person.

The struggle actor/rapper opens up the video firing shots at Harvey, saying, “F*ck TMZ! F*ck Harvey and f*ck his whole staff!”

Orlando then proceeds to threaten Harvey and tells him he’s “gonna end up in his last suit in a box, body facing the roof,” all for “exploiting people’s lives like it’s cute.”

The ex Disney actor also says he is the protege of George Clooney and takes shots at his former co-star Raven Symone, who he accuses of aborting his baby.

“Like Raven aborted my baby, go crazy insane,” Brown raps.

Mimi Faust’s New “Girlfriend” Chris Gould Opens Up About Their Relationship

Mimi Faust‘s “girlfriend” Chris Gould is spilling all the tea on their relationship.

Gould was introduced as Faust’s new lesbian lover during the Season 5 premiere of “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” Monday night (Apr 4).

While some viewers of the show seemed just as “shocked” as her castmates, a lot of people on social media accused Mimi of being “gay for pay.” Even Stevie J chimed in, saying that he doesn’t want their daughter Eva being raised on a lesbian household.

But who is Chris Gould? Where is she from? How did she and Mimi meet? And is their relationship the real deal holyfield? Chris answered all of those questions and more in a recent interview with VH1.

Chris says she was “born and raised” in Atlanta and she’s a personal injury paralegal with aspirations of making it in the music world.

As for how she met Mimi, it sounds like Mimi chose her:

“I met Mimi at a club through a mutual friend who had invited me out because Mimi had a booking. I was in her VIP and after the club was over, she pulled me to the side and she was just like, ‘I find you intriguing.’ I was like, ‘Oh, okay.’ [Laughs] They had an after party at Mimi’s house and at the after party, we just kept always separating, just me and her, in conversation. It was just us two, and it kinda went from there.”

Chris said she didn’t know much about Mimi at first because she doesn’t watch “a lot of TV, period,” but she admitted she knew about the sex tape and that Mimi “was on Love & Hip Hop.” She said, “[Those were] the main two things that I knew about her.”

Gould added that while she was well aware of the sex tape, she didn’t end up watching it until after they were a couple. “I felt like I needed to see it because it was like the elephant in the room. I’m not going to lie to you, it was awkward,” she said.

Making things even more awkward was the fact that Mimi’s love life was sprawled all over TV too, most notably her failed relationships with folks like Stevie J and Nikko.

“I definitely didn’t want to get involved with that stuff. I’ll tell you I had a very new perspective from it. At first, I just wanted to hit. [Laughs] It kind of progressed from there,” Chris said.

“We had this connection, from the few years she spent in Atlanta as a child, we found out we grew up in the same apartment complex. You go in with one thought process and then you get to know somebody and then it kind of comes with the territory. But hell yeah, nobody wanted to deal with that craziness at all.”

Chris then went on to talk about the moment when she realized she was in a “real life relationship” with Mimi, a run-in she and Faust had with Nikko, and how Love & Hip Hop Atlanta producers asked her to be a part of the show:

VH1: At what point did you realize that it was becoming a real relationship?
Chris: The first time I felt like, okay, we’re together it was Halloween of last year. We went Halloween decoration shopping with Eva, and I’ve never dated anybody with a child, so I did have this moment of, this is for real. Like, a real life relationship. The ironic part? We came home and Nikko is waiting outside of her house.

Her homegirl was at the house and was like, Nikko’s outside. We come and we pull up and he kinda forcefully goes, “I wanna talk to you,” and I allowed those two to have closure. I wanna say at that moment I felt like it was real because I respected her so much I was so concerned. I was in the house concerned is he…even though I’m a buck twenty, I’m like, I’ll jump on this guy if he does anything wrong. I think that was the first inkling of like, okay, we’re together.

And how did Love & Hip Hop come to be? How did you agree to live your relationship out on television?
They asked if I wanted to do the show and I was like, “Yeah and tell the whole world that’s my woman.” That’s the gist of it. I was down for it because I don’t think anybody’s ever seen somebody like me on TV.

The scenes we saw in the LHHATL Season 5 premiere were likely shot months ago, so it remains to be seen whether Mimi and Chris are still together. Though it may be worth noting that neither of them are present on each other’s Instagram pages, so there’s that.

Guess we’ll have to keep watching the show to see where things between these two go from here.

The Cheesecake Factory Opening First South Carolina Location

The Cheesecake Factory is coming to South Carolina!

The popular chain restaurant is set to open May 31st at the Haywood Mall in Greenville, South Carolina. This will be the state’s first Cheesecake Factory — the closest are in North Carolina and Georgia.

According to Greenville’s WHNS (Fox Carolina News), the company is looking to hire at least 20 people for the Greenville location, which is where the old Panera Bread used to be, next to Macy’s.

Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert Sexually Abused 5 Boys, Federal Prosecutors Say

A Chicago Tribune investigation has uncovered disturbing details behind the millions of dollars in hush-money payments former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert has paid out. The recipients of the funds were men who had been sexually abused by Hastert years ago when they were teenagers.

On Thursday (Apr 7), when the Chicago Tribune uncovered their investigation, they only mentioned four victims, but the following day, they updated their account to five, and there could be more.

From the Tribune’s April 7th article:

The Tribune has determined the identities of three of them, all men, whose allegations stretch over a decade when they were teenagers and Hastert was their coach. One is dead. The Tribune has approached the other two — described in federal court records as Individuals A and D — and confirmed their roles in the case.

The man who received $1.7 million from Hastert and is at the center of the federal indictment — Individual A — declined to be interviewed by the Tribune. Behind the government’s carefully worded court documents, reporters discovered a sometimes-pained narrative of his life since his days as a standout wrestler in the 1970s and how his interactions with Hastert might have affected him.

Individual D has talked to the Tribune at length but has not agreed to be named, although he is considering speaking at Hastert’s sentencing in federal court April 27.

Hastert is alleged to have sexually abused the teens identified by the Tribune when he was a teacher and coach at Yorkville High School in the far southwest suburbs, decades before he became the longest-serving Republican speaker.

One of the alleged victims served as a team equipment manager a few years after Hastert arrived at the school in 1965. Stephen Reinboldt died of AIDS in 1995, and his younger sister has long spoken out about the details she said he shared with her while alive. Two others, who came to the school later, were talented and popular student-athletes from well-known local families — the sort of combination that often bodes well for the future. They all graduated from college.

The identity of the fourth accuser whom authorities have deemed credible remains unknown.

In a statement, Hastert attorney Tom Green did not specify any sexual abuse by his client but did say Hastert was apologetic and had suffered humiliation and shame.

“Mr. Hastert has made mistakes in judgment and committed transgressions for which he is profoundly sorry,” Green said. “He fully understands the gravity of his misconduct decades ago and regrets that he resorted to … an effort to prevent the disclosure of that misconduct.”

It’s worth noting that Hastert has never been arrested for or charged with a sex crime, which, legal experts say would now be barred by statutes of limitation.

However, Hastert did plead guilty last year to “illegally structuring cash withdrawals to evade bank currency-reporting requirements” as he pooled $3.5 million in cash to give to “Individual A” to keep quiet about the sexual abuse allegations.

The Chicago Tribune’s April 8th article, in which they uncovered a fifth victim, offered more details into Hastert’s sexual abuse against the minors:

Four of the victims were wrestlers for Hastert at Yorkville High School, prosecutors said, while the fifth was an equipment manager for the wrestling team.

Two of the wrestlers told authorities that Hastert performed a sex act on them on one occasion, while the two other victims alleged that Hastert had inappropriately touched them once while giving them massages.

The student manager, Stephen Reinboldt, who is dead, told his sister that he was sexually abused throughout high school, according to the filing.

The article then goes into great detail about Hastert’s encounter with each victim.

Meanwhile, in a new 26-page memorandum that acknowledges Hastert’s sexual abuse allegations, federal prosecutors have reportedly asked a judge to sentence the former House Speaker to a maximum of six months in prison at a hearing on April 27th.

“He made them feel alone, ashamed, guilty and devoid of dignity,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven Block wrote. “While defendant achieved great success, reaping all the benefits that went with it, these boys struggled, and all are still struggling now with what defendant did to them.”

Due to the statute of limitations expiring, Hastert — who at one point was second in line to the presidency — is only being charged with banking fraud, which he pled guilty to back in October.

Bruce Springsteen Cancels North Carolina Concert Over Anti-LGBT Law

In a move that further shows the North Carolina LGBT community that they have friends in high places, Bruce Springsteen has canceled a show in Greensboro over a controversial bill in the state known as the “Anti-LGBT law.”

Last month, the governor of North Carolina signed a bill blocking cities from allowing transgender people to use public bathrooms for the sex they identify as.

In a broader context, the bill also restricts cities from passing laws against LGBT discrimination and would prevent those individuals from suing over human rights violations in the workplace.

As a form of protest, Springsteen has decided to nix his Greensboro concert, saying that he wants to “show solidarity for those freedom fighters [working against the bill].”

His full statement:

As you, my fans, know I’m scheduled to play in Greensboro, North Carolina this Sunday. As we also know, North Carolina has just passed HB2, which the media are referring to as the ‘bathroom’ law. HB2 — known officially as the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act — dictates which bathrooms transgender people are permitted to use. Just as important, the law also attacks the rights of LGBT citizens to sue when their human rights are violated in the workplace.

No other group of North Carolinians faces such a burden. To my mind, it’s an attempt by people who cannot stand the progress our country has made in recognizing the human rights of all of our citizens to overturn that progress. Right now, there are many groups, businesses, and individuals in North Carolina working to oppose and overcome these negative developments.

Taking all of this into account, I feel that this is a time for me and the band to show solidarity for those freedom fighters. As a result, and with deepest apologies to our dedicated fans in Greensboro, we have canceled our show scheduled for Sunday, April 10th. Some things are more important than a rock show and this fight against prejudice and bigotry — which is happening as I write — is one of them. It is the strongest means I have for raising my voice in opposition to those who continue to push us backwards instead of forwards.

North Carolina officials are now beginning to see the economic implications behind the passing of House Bill 2 (aka the “bathroom law”) in other ways too.

The CEO of Google Ventures also made it known that they will not be investing in any projects in North Carolina “until the voters fix this.”

Beware: This Dangerous Drug Has Killed 10 People & Caused Over 40 Overdoses in Sacramento

A drug said to be 100 times more potent than heroin has caused more than 40 overdoses and at least 10 deaths within a 12-day span in the Sacramento area.

Health officials are warning people to watch out for counterfeit pills containing Fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opiate usually prescribed to cancer patients and used to treat chronic pain.

The deadly drug is being sold on the street as Norco, a less potent opiate, and runs from $3 to $5 a pill. Natasha Butler says her 28-year-old son Jerome recently died after buying the drug from someone thinking that it was Norco.

“It shut down his organs. It shut down his kidneys. It shut down his liver. His brain was swollen. The doctor said he said there was nothing he could do for him. From one pill,” Butler said.

According to DEA agent John Martin, the drug is being smuggled into U.S. from China and Mexico. “We believe it is manufactured in China, it is being distributed to Mexico, it is brought up through the normal drug smuggling routes of the southwest border,” Martin said.

The drug is also being mixed with heroin to increase its potency and it is also sometimes sold as heroin, whose users are the most at risk for dying from the drug.

The number of people in Sacramento County who have become sick after overdosing on disguised fentanyl pills has risen to 48, according to the health department.

Of the 48 people sickened, nine people have died in Sacramento County, and one person has died in Yolo County, the Sacramento Department of Health and Human Services said. Although there have been no deaths in San Joaquin County, four people overdosed on the disguised tablets.

An equal number of men and women, ranging in age from 16 to 67, have overdosed on the counterfeit fentanyl pills, the department said.

Initial reports came in March 24 advising of overdoses related to what were thought to be Norco pills bought on the street. However, it was later discovered the pills were actually an opioid known as fentanyl made to look like Norco tablets, according to toxicology reports.

Fentanyl is estimated to be 80 times as potent as morphine and hundreds of times more potent than heroin.

Mimi’s baby daddy and Love & Hip Hop Atlanta co-star Stevie J also voiced his disapproval over her new lesbian relationship and told TMZ he doesn’t want their daughter raised in a lesbian household.

“In 2016 we should not be using gay and lesbian as a way to degrade someone. Someones sexuality is not a reflection of their character and more importantly what type of parent they are. The most important thing is that the child feels love regardless of whether it comes from a man or a woman. We should continue the strides we have made over the last 50+ years and allow people to be who they are.”

DEA Says Marijuana Could Be Downgraded From Schedule 1 Drug

For years, marijuana, has been classified as a “Schedule 1” drug along with heavy drugs such as heroin, ecstasy and cocaine, but a new move from the DEA could change all of that.

The United States Drug Enforcement Administration sent a letter to legislators today saying that they plan to make a decision in the first half of 2016 on whether they will reclassify cannabis in a category outside of Schedule 1, which includes drugs that have “no medical use and a high potential for abuse,” as well as “potentially severe psychological or physical dependence.”

Currently, marijuana is considered more dangerous than prescription painkillers, which have been responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths via overdose, yet there isn’t one single proven case of someone dying from overdosing while using marijuana.

Don’t get too excited though, because the DEA’s reclassification does not mean that weed will be “legal.” This does, however, make it easier for researchers to learn about the longterm effects of regular marijuana use and whether or not it can actually be used to help people. (Spoiler: It’s not harmful and it does help people.)

Currently, the government grants a monopoly on marijuana production for research purposes to one program at the University of Mississippi. “Because of this monopoly, research-grade drugs that meet researchers’ specifications often take years to acquire, if they are produced at all,” a Brookings Institution report argued last year.

According to the memo, in the years between 2010 and 2015, the government provided marijuana for research purposes to an average of nine researchers per year. Given the rapidly changing marijuana policy landscape, experts say that level of support is nowhere near enough to keep up with research demand.

“That number is totally insufficient to meet public health needs and to answer the number of [research] questions that pop up yearly,” the Brookings Institution’s John Hudak said in an interview.

Hudak said the small number of researchers working with marijuana in any given year is less a function of the government turning down applications, and more a function of an onerous, convoluted application process — one that requires approval from multiple government agencies and deters academics from even pursuing this type of research. “People just aren’t applying because of all the headaches involved,” he said. “It’s a huge disincentive for the academic community.”

In addition to the research benefits, the DEA downgrading cannabis from a Schedule drug could also mean eventual federal decriminalization of the substance.

The DEA teasing a decision to modify its classification of marijuana comes after increased requests from politicians asking them and other federal bodies to create a research strategy in response to the growing patient pool of medical marijuana users.

So far, at least 23 states (that’s almost half the country!) have legalized at least some form of marijuana, with Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, Washington and D.C. allowing recreational use.

But the head of the DEA is firm in his belief that medical marijuana has zero health benefits.

“What really bothers me is the notion that marijuana is also medicinal — because it’s not,” Chuck Rosenberg, a former federal prosecutor and the current acting head of the DEA, said back in November. “We can have an intellectually honest debate about whether we should legalize something that is bad and dangerous, but don’t call it medicine — that is a joke.”

Chris Brown Goes Off on Tinashe, Calls Her a “16 Year Old Hobbit Face Ass”

We all know Chris Brown has zero chill when it comes to the comments he makes on social media. So it’s no surprise that he went off on Tinashe recently, calling the singer a “16 year old hobbit face ass” in an Instagram comment.

Well, actually, it is a bit surprising, considering the two seemed to be good friends at one point, having collaborated with each other on hits in the past, like “Player.”

The apparent feud between Chris and Tinashe started brewing when Tinashe unfollowed Chris on social media after he called up and coming singer Kehlani‘s suicide attempt a publicity stunt and told her to “stop flexing for the ‘Gram.”

But Tinashe wasn’t the only female singer who felt some type of way about Chris’ comments about Kehlani. Zendaya Coleman and two members of Fifth Harmony also unfollowed Brown after his rant, which led to this since-deleted post on Instagram:

He added, “There is a difference between career and life. Y’all are made into figure. I WAS BORN CHRIS BROWN!”

Tinashe was asked about Brown’s comments in an interview with 106 KMEL’s Shay Diddy, and her response was pretty mature:

“I felt like it was just so unnecessary. I just think it’s silly. Petty… It’s not even worth it, it’s not a big deal to me. I don’t think that follows on Twitter are a big deal. If I see him, I would love to speak to him. I would love if he would reach out. I have absolutely nothing against him. We’re on good terms, as far as I knew.”

Brown’s response to Tinashe’s response, however, wasn’t mature, and made very little sense, if any:

Welp. Looks like there won’t be any joint live performances of “Player” anytime soon, which is too bad because it’s actually a pretty hot single.

Nicki Minaj Says She’s “Single” and Not Engaged to Meek Mill

Nicki Minaj doesn’t want any labels on her relationship with rapper Meek Mill.

During her appearance on Thursday’s (Apr 7) airing of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Nicki was quick to shut down rumors that she is engaged.

“First of all, that’s not an engagement ring. I have two rings from this boy who likes me,” she told Ellen after being asked about the diamond ring Meek gave her in December. “He said that that’s my second ring and if I get a third ring that that would be the engagement ring.”

When questioned on if she was ready to take things to the next level with Meek, Nicki admitted that she’s unsure about marriage at the time. She also said that she wants fans to consider her “single.”

“I don’t know. We’re still figuring each other out. In fact, I don’t even want to say I’m in a relationship anymore cause I think when people hear that, they go to a mean place,” she said. “I used to say I’m not in a relationship even though I was in a 12-year relationship. And then now i feel like just going back to that and saying you know what? I’m single.”

Nicki gave an example of how on Valentine’s Day, many thought she and Meek broke up because she didn’t post any of the gifts she got on Instagram. In reality, they were lying in bed together and she got some pretty amazing gifts.

“It just made me realize, no matter how great your life is, you can’t even impress people. You just have to do you and make yourself happy,” Nicki told Ellen. “And forget trying to get everyone’s approval. It’s better to just keep those things sacred. So now, I don’t really care to say I’m in a relationship. There’s a boy that likes me, that’s all.”

She added, “He and I are just two souls right now passing through the universe and I don’t know what’s going to happen and I have learned over the years to just let things be and come and go.”

After fans took the interview as Nicki saying she and Meek were no longer together, she went on IG to set the record straight and let it be known, she’s not really “single.”

With Chris and Benny riding around a beach boardwalk on bikes as beautiful women in bikinis enjoy the sun, this video is a perfect reminder that summer is right around the corner.

“Are you Chris Rock?” a woman asks Kevin in a video posted on his snapchat. With a smile on his face, Kevin responds, “Yes I am. Pleasure to meet you.” He then invited the woman to his show later that night called “Rock The World.”

Kevin absolutely took no offense to the woman’s mistake and wrote afterwards that the incident humbled him.

“These are the moments that keep me Humble. #RockTheWorld #AllYouCanDoIsLaugh,” he captioned his video.

Last month, Kevin tweeted Google asking them to remove his picture from search results of the keyword “Bill Cosby net worth.”

Evidently, when you typed in Bill Cosby’s net worth in Google, Kevin’s picture came up instead of Cosby’s. Google eventually responded to Kevin and fixed the problem.

Janet Jackson Postpones World Tour to Plan Family With Husband

Janet Jackson is working on having her first child.

The 49-year-old singer revealed in a video message to her fans that she will be postponing the second leg of her “Unbreakable” World Tour due to doctor’s orders.

Janet says she and her billionaire husband Wissam Al Mana are planning their family and that it’s important that she takes time out to rest.

“We’re in the second leg of the tour, and there actually has been a sudden change. I thought it was important that you be the first to know,” Janet said in a video statement (above). “My husband and I are planning our family. So I’m going to have to delay the tour.”

She continued, “Please, if you can try and understand it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor’s orders. I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can.”

Back in December, Jackson pushed back several dates for her “Unbreakable” World Tour because of an “unspecified surgery,” and the following January, she denied having throat cancer after rumors began to surface.

Janet has been vocal in the past about her desire to have children, and in 2010, she told Access Hollywood, “I would love to, I would love to have a family, but it’s in God’s hands. So if it’s meant to be, it’ll happen. I hope it does.”
