Michelle Williams Can’t Wait to Joke With Beyoncé About Sharing Her Name With a Destiny’s Child Member

There are two famous Michelle Williamses. One is an actress who has a daughter with late actor Heath Ledger, and the other is a Destiny’s Child singer who always seems to get the shortest end of the stick.

Last week, a Twitter user noticed that if you searched “Destiny’s Child members” on Google, Michelle Williams the actress and her picture shows up in the results along with Beyoncé Knowles and Kelly Rowland, instead of Michelle Williams the singer.

Asked what it felt like being a part of Google’s version of Destiny’s Child, Michelle Williams the actress said she was honored, and would definitely bring it up whenever she gets the chance to meet Beyoncé.

“It gets me one step closer to Beyoncé, so I’m pretty good with it,” Williams told HuffPost. “Now I’ll have an ice breaker if I ever get to meet Beyoncé. I’ll talk to her about the old days of Destiny’s Child. So thank you because I’ll obviously be tongue-tied if and when that ever happens, and now I’ll know exactly what to say.”

While actress Michelle Williams has never met singer Michelle Williams, who are both coincidentally 38 years old, actress Michelle Williams says she gets confused for the singer all the time.

“My daughter is an enormous Stevie Wonder fan, and we went to a Stevie Wonder concert,” Williams recalled, “and when I was in line to pick up our tickets, the guy said, ‘No, you’re not,’ and I said, ‘I am. I’m Michelle Williams,’ and he said, ‘No, you’re not.’ And I said, ‘I really am.’ I showed him my ID, and he said, ‘Oh, that Michelle Williams. I just assumed that it was gonna be … Oh cool. What?'”

Michelle Williams (the actress) stars in the latest Marvel film “Venom,” which was released in theaters this past weekend.

Janelle Monáe Cast in Disney’s “Lady and the Tramp” Remake With Rumored Girlfriend Tessa Thompson

Janelle Monáe is joining the voice cast of Disney’s Lady and the Tramp remake, according to Deadline.

The live-action reimagining of the classic 1955 cartoon will also feature Monae’s close friend (and rumored girlfriend) Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux as canine leads Lady and Tramp, respectively. Monáe will voice Lady’s wise-cracking friend Peg, which was originally performed by late actress Peggy Lee.

Other previously announced voice actors/actresses include Kiersey Clemons, Thomas Mann, Ashley Jensen, Benedict Wong and Yvette Nicole Brown. Andrew Bujalski wrote the script and Brigham Taylor produce the film, which is expected to debut on Disney’s direct-to-consumer streaming service launching in late 2019.

Lady and the Tramp will add yet another film credit to Monáe’s growing resume in Hollywood. She was recently tapped for a role in the upcoming Harriet Tubman biopic Harriet, and she will also star in the forthcoming animated feature UglyDolls.

Monáe previously starred in Hidden Figures and the Oscar-winning Moonlight, which have earned her acclaim as an actress. Her most recent album Dirty Computer was released last spring.

Bette Midler Apologizes for Tweeting “Women Are the N-Word of the World”

Bette Midler has apologized for a controversial tweet that sparked outrage on the social media platform last week.

In a brazen attempt to call out male patriarchy in response to Brett Kavanaugh’s Senate confirmation hearings, the actress wrote on Twitter: “Women are the n-word of the world.”

It didn’t take long for Midler to realize her mistake either, because just a few hours later, she returned with an apology, saying that she was quoting John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s “Woman Is The N****r Of The World” song, whose lyrics explain the plight of women.

“I gather I have offended many by my last tweet,” she said in a now-deleted tweet (FYI: She also deleted the “Women Are the N-Word of the World” tweet). “‘Women are the…etc’ is a quote from Yoko Ono from 1972, which I never forgot. It rang true then, and it rings true today, whether you like it or not. This is not about race, this is about the status of women; THEIR HISTORY.”

Midler went on to explain that she “angrily tweeted without thinking [her] choice of words would be enraging to black women” and apologized:

“The too brief investigation of allegations against Kavanaugh infuriated me. Angrily I tweeted w/o thinking my choice of words would be enraging to black women who doubly suffer, both by being women and by being black. I am an ally and stand with you; always have. And I apologize.”

But Black Twitter was furious that Midler quoted words stolen from famed Black author Zora Neal Hurston, who died in 1960.

“So Bette Midler quoted Yoko who stole the line from Zora Neale Hurston who shed light on how the Black woman is the mule of the world in her novel. But Yoko ignored that part. And so did Bette. So f**k both of them,” tweeted @nubiansweet.

“So first Bette Midler pretends black women don’t exist, and then tries to tell us to get out our feelings and that it’s not about race when she’s literally the one who brought race up??? I guess she doesn’t want us to enjoy Hocus Pocus this year…” wrote Twitter user @ShaniceDee.

Rapper and activist Killer Mike told TMZ that he accepted Midler’s apology and agreed that she made a good point, but he said no group of people are treated worse than black women.

“The grain of truth whether it’s there or not in terms of women being treated by their male counterparts, it starts with White male European patriarchy,” Killer Mike said. “So in terms of the first person oppressed by White male patriarchy […] was going to be person laying next to them. But ultimately, it’s not the type of truth to try to associate yourself with because Black women are treated worse than anyone.”

He added that if she really wants to be on black women’s side, like she says she does, she needs to step up and do more, and be a co-conspirator with black women, instead of simply just an ally.

Mugshot Madness: Katt Williams Arrested in Portland After Allegedly Assaulting His Driver at the Airport

Katt Williams added a new mugshot to his collection after he was arrested for assault in Portland, Oregon Saturday (Oct. 6) after he allegedly attacked his driver.

Port of Portland police said the 47-year-old comedian allegedly assaulted the driver of a town car at Portland International Airport Friday night following an argument about transporting Williams and his dog from Atlantic Aviation—a terminal at Portland International Airport for private planes—to the Moda Center, where Williams was supposed to appear in a live performance of Nick Cannon’s “Wild ‘N out Live” concert.

Cops said Katt’s driver sustained minor injuries to the face, including swelling and cuts, and was treated at a local hospital.

Katt left the scene of the alleged assault in another vehicle, and was located and questioned by Portland police Saturday morning. He was arrested and booked for misdemeanor assault around 12 p.m.

Katt is currently being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center on $2,500 bail. He’s also reportedly being held on a warrant from Georgia.

“The Walking Dead” Actor Scott Wilson Dies at 76

Scott Wilson, a veteran actor most recently known for his role as Hershel Greene on “The Walking Dead,” has died. He was 76 years old.

According to Scott’s representative Dominic Mancini, Wilson died due to complications from leukemia. He passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday (Oct. 6), TMZ reported.

Wilson’s Hollywood career kicked off in 1967 with a role in the classic film “In the Heat of the Night” and he went on to appear in a number of other legendary movies like “In Cold Blood,” “The Great Gatsby” and “Dead Man Walking.” He earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor for playing Captain Billy Cupshaw in the 1980 film “The Ninth Configuration.”

Wilson has more than 50 film credits and over a dozen TV credits, but his biggest role in recent years was Hershel Greene from “The Walking Dead,” a role he held for four seasons before being killed off. Hershel’s death on the show was one of the most shocking and heart-breaking for TWD fans.

TWD showrunner Angela Kang recently revealed at the show’s panel at New York Comic-Con that Wilson—along with former stars Sonequa Martin-Green and John Bernthal—would be returning for the show’s upcoming ninth season, which premieres Sunday (Oct. 7). It wasn’t clear whether Wilson had filmed his scenes before he died.

Brett Kavanaugh Confirmed As Next U.S. Supreme Court Justice After Senate Votes 50-48

Brett Kavanaugh will replace Anthony Kennedy as the next justice on the United States Supreme Court after receiving enough votes from the Senate. He could be sworn in as early as Monday (Oct. 8).

BuzzFeed News reports:

The Senate voted 50-48 to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court Saturday, the narrowest vote on a Supreme Court nomination in 137 years.

The confirmation is a major victory for Republicans after sexual harassment allegations against Kavanaugh threatened to sink his nomination in recent weeks. His appointment could move the top court to the right for a generation.

It was the most heated and controversial confirmation in recent memory, with hundreds of people protesting in the halls of the Senate over the last two weeks as well as outside the Capitol and the Supreme Court on Saturday. During the vote, several protesters started screaming and shouting from the gallery down toward the senators on the floor, before being escorted out.

Only James Garfield nominee Stanley Matthews, who was nominated by a 24-23 record in 1881, has had a tighter nomination victory than Kavanaugh.

Only two senators broke with their parties on the nomination. Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia was the only Democrat to vote for Kavanaugh. Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska was the sole Republican to oppose him, however she was officially marked as present rather than a no.

This is because she “paired” her vote with Republican Sen. Steve Daines, who would have voted yes but was in Montana Saturday for his daughter’s wedding. By voting present, Murkowski removed one no vote to match his missing yes vote. Daines was prepared to fly back to DC, so the only real-world effect of Murkowski’s move was to allow him to stay at the wedding. Had they both voted, the outcome would have been unchanged, but the final tally would have been 51-49 in favor of confirmation.

Vice President Mike Pence was on-hand for the vote, though he was not needed to break a tie. Pence made the final announcement that Kavanaugh will now be the next Supreme Court justice.

Kavanaugh’s confirmation could mark a significant shift to the right for the Supreme Court. He replaces Justice Anthony Kennedy, widely seen as the swing vote on the court, who retired in June. With the court being made up of four reliable conservative-leaning justices, and four liberal-leaning justices, Kennedy often played the role of tie-breaker.

Kavanaugh’s nomination initially seemed like a safe bet in July, but became imperiled in September after Palo Alto professor Christine Blasey Ford came forward with allegations that Kavanaugh held her down, groped her, and covered her mouth to muffle her screams during a party when they were both in high school. The vote was delayed to hear testimony from Ford and Kavanaugh, and then delayed again when Republican Sen. Jeff Flake sided with Democrats demanding a week-long FBI investigation into the allegations.

Senators spent Thursday reading the results of the FBI investigation. Republicans say the FBI cleared Kavanaugh and found no signs of wrongdoing. Democrats have suggested that’s not wholly true and railed against the process, pointing to the fact that only 9 people were interviewed despite dozens of names of possible witnesses being put forward. “It smacks of a whitewash,” said Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal.

Because the report is confidential, senators refused to discuss specifics of what the FBI found and the public has no way of drawing its own conclusions.

Republicans dismissed Democrats’ criticisms as pure obstructionism and pushed forward with a vote, with Majority Leader Mitch McConnell saying Thursday, “There’s no way anything we did could satisfy Democrats.”

Just before the vote Saturday, McConnell argued that “a vote to confirm judge Kavanaugh today is a vote to end this brief, dark chapter in the senate’s history and turn the page toward a brighter tomorrow.” McConnell added that Kavanaugh will “make the Senate and the American people proud.”

The nomination battle has caused a surge in grassroots anger on both the left and right, with midterm elections just weeks away and control of Congress hanging in the balance. In his own speech ahead of Saturday’s vote, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer acknowledged that Democrats had lost the battle on Kavanaugh, but encouraged the “many millions who are outraged by what happened here” to vote.

Now that the Senate has confirmed him, Kavanaugh can be sworn-in as a justice at any time and could begin work at the Supreme Court as early as next week. The court is set to hear cases on Tuesday, so Kavanaugh could potentially be on the bench as soon as Tuesday at 10 a.m. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on when he will be sworn-in.

Kavanaugh, who worked in the George W. Bush White House and was part of Ken Starr’s team investigating Bill Clinton, is expected to be a more consistently conservative justice than his predecessor. While Kennedy was appointed by Ronald Reagan and frequently voted with the conservative bloc, he also sided with the liberals on key cases such as legalizing same-sex marriage and placing limits on the death penalty.

But not everyone agrees with that assessment. Sen. Susan Collins, a moderate Republican whose endorsement of Kavanaugh on Friday put him over the 50-vote threshold, said in a speech announcing her decision that she believes he will not support overturning gay marriage, the pre-existing condition protections of Obamacare, or Roe v. Wade.

Roe had been a major concern of pro-choice activists who feared Kavanaugh will be the fifth Supreme Court vote to overturn abortion rights. But Collins said that in her two-hour discussion with Kavanaugh he described Roe as settled law, and said Supreme Court justices have no right to overturn settled law just because they disagree with it.

President Donald Trump told reporters just before Saturday’s vote that he was pleased that Collins came around, calling her speech “from the heart” and said he looked forward to Kavanaugh joining the Supreme Court. “He will be a great justice of the Supreme Court. People have thought that for ten years. They thought he’s just an extraordinary person, a great, great talent and I think he’s going to make us all very proud,” Trump said.

Mugshot Madness: McDonald’s Worker Who Poisoned Police Officer Could Spend 20 Years in Jail

A McDonald’s worker could be spending the next two decades of his life behind bars for poisoning a Kansas police officer.

Authorities said 22-year-old Trevor J. Hockaday, who apparently is not too fond of police, put a peroxide-based cleaner usually used to clean the restaurant’s counter tops in an Allen County Deputy’s drink.

According to investigators, the deputy picked up food and a drink from the McDonald’s drive-thru while Hockaday was working, and a short time later, he began to experience flu-like symptoms. But the sheriff’s deputy wasn’t sick. He had been poisoned.

Officials said the deputy he didn’t find out until two weeks later when one of Hockaday’s coworkers told police that Hockaday had added “four little squirts” of cleaner into his drink.

“He thought he caught the bug, but we found out two weeks later when an employee came forward and told the police department,” Allen County Sheriff Bryan Murphy said.

Hockaday was arrested on Wednesday, September 12th and charged with suspicion of aggravated battery against a law enforcement officer.

Kansas police say a McDonald’s worker, 22-year-old Trevor Hockaday, poisoned an Allen County Deputy by putting a peroxide-based cleaner in his drink.

Sheriff Murphy said when he contacted the McDonald’s regional office in Joplin, Missouri, he was told that Hockaday had been suspended after an internal investigation, but law enforcement was never contacted.

Murphy said a regional restaurant official told him that the local manager had also not notified any regional or corporate managers of the incident. The sheriff said a McDonald’s official told them that it wasn’t their procedure to contact law enforcement when tainted food is reported, however, they said they would work on changing that policy.

Under Kansas law, adulterating or contaminating “any food, raw agricultural commodity, beverage, drug, animal feed, plant or public water supply” is considered a felony.

According to KOAMTV, the aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer is a level 3 person felony and those charged with it could face sent to prison for anywhere from 55 months (about 4.5 years) to 247 months (about 20.5 years), depending on their criminal history.

Glen Nichols, the owner of the McDonald’s where Hockaday worked, was horrified to learn that one of his employees would do such a thing to someone.

“In our restaurants, nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of our customers,” Nichols said in a statement. “We are very disappointed by the allegations made regarding the behavior of one of our former crew members. This kind of behavior goes against our food safety standards and is not tolerated. Our organization will take all appropriate measures to gather facts and will work closely with authorities in their investigation.”

Suge Knight Jr. set the internet on fire earlier this week with a shocking claim that Tupac is alive and well and living his best life in Malaysia.

It’s been 22 years since Tupac was murdered, and his death has long been speculated as having been “faked,” with longstanding rumors saying that Tupac is “alive” and in hiding.

But according to Suge Knight’s son, Tupac being alive is NOT just a rumor.

22-year-old Knight Jr. said in a post on Instagram Tuesday (Oct. 2): “TUPAC IS ALIVE.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/BocV6_MnzFQ/

The day before, he posted a screenshot of a headline saying that Tupac’s estate was planning to release new albums on behalf of the legendary rapper after settling a lawsuit. “Man if they have PAC talk about Kanye or Trump something ain’t right lol,” he said.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BoaEPrCHyyM/

A few hours after proclaiming that “TUPAC IS ALIVE,” Knight Jr. posted a screenshot of a questionable iMessage thread in which the sender says “You said to [sic] much, time to go.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bocs2UlnbF_/

He even went so far as to post terribly photoshopped photos of Tupac with Beyoncé, 50 Cent and Kanye West. “He never left us. They’ll be after me soon smh. For y’all tho,” he wrote in the caption on one.

He also posted a video saying he was afraid for his life. “They following me man!” Knight Jr. said.

And for any of you questioning his sanity or sobriety at the moment, Suge Knight Jr. says he’s “not on drugs.”

And for those worrying about Knight Jr’s safety, he has a message for y’all. “I’m safe and just know it was self defense. #killuminati,” he says. “Just know. They been tryna destroy powerful names and legacies. I saw what I saw and they saw me.”

Lamar Odom Laughs Off Report That He Was Kidnapped & Held Hostage Over Gambling Debt

Lamar Odom wants the world to know that reports of him being kidnapped are completely false.

Earlier this week, Radar Online reported that the former NBA player had been kidnapped back in June while he was visiting a woman named Savanna Waldrop. The alleged kidnapping was said to be over a gambling debt.

According to Radar, Odom, Waldrop (who was his girlfriend at the time) and Waldrop’s 2-year-old daughter were “held hostage” and “terrorized at gunpoint” for two days.

However, it turns out the incident never happened. Or at least that’s what Lamar and his manager are saying.

“The kidnapping is false, it’s a lie, it’s made up,” Odom’s manager Zoul El Fassi told E! News. “He does know [Savanna Waldrop]. He’s not going to deny that but she was just a girl he used to party with.”

Odom’s publicist Eve Sarkisyan-Nunn chimed in, saying: “We are aware of the false story circulating around regarding Lamar. We are not denying that Lamar does know this woman, however she was merely an acquaintance.”

Lamar himself also spoke out about the rumors, which he found hilarious. He took a screenshot of Radar’s headline and posted it on his Instagram page.

“@radargram i also got lost in a rabbit hole together with my kidnapers, rapunzel and the 7 dwarfs saved me!” he joked in the post’s emoji-filled caption. “We all lived happily ever after. Can you please add this to the story? Don’t leave out the juicy facts … this bullsh** makes me wanna start my own gossip online platform and report stories only about me. What y’all think?”

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bofl2jIhbL8/

Some fans slammed Radar for spreading fallacies and falsehoods about Lamar, while others laughed off the reports like Odom.

“Let this man live. literally walked past him at the airport on Tuesday.. This man is minding his business,” one person wrote. “Leave my boi Odom alone,” said another.

“Thank God for the 7 dwarfs. You’re saved,” one person joked. “How bout the time the aliens beamed you up cuz you owed them money? That’s a super exclusive,” joked another person.

2-Week-Old Baby Hospitalized in Critical Condition After Alleged Rape By 25-Year-Old Man

A two-week-old baby is reportedly fighting for its tiny little life in the intensive care unit of a hospital after allegedly being raped, and the main suspect is a 25-year-old male.

According to the Daily Mail, the infant is recovering at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children in Northern Ireland, UK.

The 25-year-old suspect, whose identity has not been revealed, was charged with rape and grievous bodily harm with intent. He appeared at Armagh Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (Oct. 2).

According to Belfast Live, the alleged incident occurred last Saturday (Sep. 29). The man is being without bail at Maghaberry prison and is due to appear before a judge next Wednesday (Oct. 10), Belfast Live reported.

It wasn’t made clear what the man’s relation to the baby was.

Folks Are Going IN on Kim Kardashian Over This “Ridiculous” Instagram Photo: “You Should Be Ashamed!”

At this point, we should all be used to Kim Kardashian showing off her naked body (sometimes fully nekkid, others almost nekkid) on social media.

But that didn’t stop some folks from going in on her on Instagram today when she posted this racy photo of her wearing an itsy bitsy teeny weenie Chanel bikini:

https://www.instagram.com/p/Boj1icSnVqI/?hl=en&taken-by=kimkardashian

She posted a similar photo on Monday (Oct. 1):

https://www.instagram.com/p/BoZfBcpnsxS/

AOL News reports:

The KKW Beauty founder shared another photo of herself on Friday rocking a teeny vintage Chanel black-and-white bikini that left little to the imagination, and her ____ Instagram followers’ reactions were completely divided. Some people — including some of her famous pals — praised the star for her svelte physique, while others called her out and questioned why she felt the need to share the skin-baring snap.

“Same,” Amy Schumer commented. “This body is giving us life!!” her best friend, Simon Huck, posted. “That’s hot,” Paris Hilton said.

Others weren’t as friendly.

“This is ridiculous,” one user wrote. “This lady really loves attention. This is not normal.”

“I don’t [really] do this, but this time I feel like I must. What point really, showing off a body that is not made of anything but plastic,” someone else sounded off. “And for what for strangers to look at? Save it for your man instead. It’s really sad and that’s a call for desperate need of attention. You have three beautiful kids and a man that loves you. Be aware of your choices. You should be ashamed.”

Someone else noted that it was “time to unfollow Kim.”

Getting mad at Kim Kardashian for sharing a half-naked photo of herself is like getting mad at the sun for rising every day. You should be used to it by now.

Popeyes: Our 24-Karat Gold Chicken Wings Were a HIT!

Popeyes says their 24-karat gold chicken wings were a huge hit with customers.

On Thursday (Oct. 4), the popular restaurant chain celebrated a huge milestone—the opening of their 3,000 restaurant in Elizabeth, New Jersey back in August—by serving boneless chicken wings dipped in champagne and drenched in a 24-karat gold batter at four random Popeyes’ restaurants in New York City, New Orleans, Anaheim (California) and the new Elizabeth location.

The golden wings were only available for that day, and by 7 p.m., they had completely sold out of them at all four locations, as noted by a tweet from the company.

Popeyes said depending on consumer demand, they would consider bringing the 24k gold-battered dish to more locations in the future.

Black Ink Crew Brawl: Sky Got Her Wig Knocked Off By Newcomer Herb, and Teddy Returned the Favor by Knocking Herb’s Block Off

Damn near half the cast of “Black Ink Crew (New York)” got into a huge brawl on this week’s episode, and Twitter went HAM over it.

When the Black Ink Crew Season 7 trailer was released a few weeks ago, we all saw someone beating the crap out of someone, and now we know who those someones were. The man on the receiving end of the beatdown was a new tattoo artist named Herb, and the man delivering the beatdown was Teddy.

It all started last week when Herb was brought to the shop by Alex (aka the Vagina Slayer). When Herb was introduced to Sky at the Black Ink New Orleans launch party, Sky got pissed off that Herb didn’t know who she was and give her the respect she was demanding from him.

Things immediately went downhill from there, and got even worse when at a backyard pool party, which had just gotten shut down by the po-po, mind you, Sky and Herb got into an argument (He called her “fake”) and Sky stole on him.

Herb responded by punching her in the face, knocking her wig clean off, and that’s when it all went to hell. It was pretty much over with for Herb at that point.

Walt was all like “That n***a punched my sister in the face!” and Teddy immediately ran after Herb, with Ceaser following not too far behind.

At that point, Herb decided he wanted to fight everybody, and stole on Ceaser, and then Teddy came up from behind and swung on Herb, and when Herb tried to take off, Teddy knocked him to the ground and started pummeling him as he lay there like a defenseless animal.

Of course, Twitter had things to say about how everything went down.

While most people agreed that it wasn’t cool for Herb to react the way he did, even though Sky technically did throw the first punch, there were some who did not agree with a man retaliating like that on a woman, no matter what, and others who felt like they both were in the wrong.

Dead Baby Found in Maryland High School’s Bathroom

Police say someone found a dead baby in a bathroom at a high school in a Maryland suburb of Washington, D.C.

The baby was reportedly delivered on Wednesday (Oct. 3), the same day it was found. A school resource officer at High Point High School was alerted to the newborn’s body earlier that morning.

Police said the “female who delivered the baby” is a student at the school. The mother was located at the school and is receiving medical care, WBAL-TV reported.

The letter below was sent home to parents from the school’s principal Nicole Isley-McClure:

Dear Parents and Guardians:

This message is to inform you about an incident at High Point High School on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. There was a large police presence at our school today. Authorities were addressing a personal and private matter involving a student.

Our students’ well-being is our top priority. We assure you that today’s circumstances did not pose a threat to our students or staff. Due to privacy concerns, we cannot share further details at this time. We encourage you to speak with your child about the importance of confiding in a trusted adult, such as a counselor, teacher, administrator or coach, if they have any concerns about their safety and well-being.

Thank you for your continued support.

Detectives are working to find out whether the baby was a stillbirth and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the baby’s cause of death. No further information, including whether the infant was girl or a boy, was immediately released.

LaShonda Childs: Quick Facts About Ohio Teen Shot to Death & Set on Fire by Her Abusive 28-Year-Old Ex-Boyfriend

A 17-year-old girl from Dayton, Ohio lost her life as the result of an ongoing domestic violence situation with her 28-year-old ex-boyfriend, who shot and killed her.

According to WHIO-TV, a CBS affiliate in Dayton, LaShonda Childs was rushed to Grandview Medical Center after being shot in the head late Tuesday night (Oct. 2).

Childs was pronounced dead early Wednesday morning. Her ex-boyfriend, 28-year-old Trendell Goodwin, was arrested Tuesday and charged with her murder Wednesday.

LaShonda’s 18th birthday would have been Friday (Oct. 5).

Here’s what you need to know:

1Trendell Goodwin lied to LaShonda Childs about his age when they started dating in September 2017. Trendell was abusive towards LaShonda and would often harass her. He also bit her so hard one time that she started bleeding.

LaShonda’s mother, Nina Childs, told reporters that her daughter and Trendell Goodwin started dating last September after he lied about his age.

Trendell had told LaShonda he was 20 years old, and when LaShonda found out he was lying about how old he was, he started showing signs of abusive behavior.

Earlier this year, in February, Nina said Trendell bit LaShonda so hard that she started bleeding. Court records confirmed that incident.

Goodwin was arrested on February 19th after Childs told police he hit her in the face and bit her left shoulder during an argument about text messages involving another woman.

“Childs had a fresh bite mark on her left shoulder,” a Dayton police officer wrote in an incident report. “The left side of her face was swollen where she claimed Goodwin hit her. She also had had abrasions on the right side of her neck and her nose was bleeding at one point.”

Goodwin served 19 days of a 180-day sentence for misdemeanor assault, Dayton Municipal Court and jail records showed. Goodwin was ordered not to have contact with Childs, received home detention and was ordered to receive counseling.

LaShonda’s mother also said Goodwin would often steal LaShonda’s phones and harass her and her family. “He was the type of guy who would call you 70 times a day,” Nina said. “Nonstop. It was aggravating as well as annoying and scary.”

LaShonda’s brother said Goodwin continued to reach out to LaShonda, even after they broke up. “She was really in the process of leaving,” said Jaylon Childs.

2LaShonda and her family went to the police for help on multiple occasions, and filed a restraining order against Goodwin after he pulled her wig off, set it on fire and threw it at her.

Nina Childs said that LaShonda eventually confided in her about how abusive Goodwin was towards her.

“LaShonda told me, ‘You know mom he made me walk from our house to his house with a gun pointed at my back. I was scared for my life as well as my family’s life,'” Nina said.

According to court records obtained by WHIO-TV, LaShonda and her family sought help from the police on multiple occasions.

“Goodwin was on probation for a misdemeanor assault case against Childs and was ordered not to see her when he allegedly pulled her hair and wig, set it on fire and threw it at her causing burns last month,” WHIO-TV reported.

Detective Justin Ellis wrote a statement about the September 13th incident in an effort to establish probable cause for an arrest warrant.

“Mr. Goodwin caught Ms. Childs on her front porch and tried to pull her by the hair,” Det. Justin Ellis wrote. “Her hair had been a wig and was pulled off. After noticing it was a wig Mr. Goodwin lit the wig on fire and threw it onto Ms. Childs causing burns to her left bicep. The burning sensation caused her to drop her phone. Mr. Goodwin picked the phone up and fled the scene. Mr. Goodwin has been sending threatening comments to Ms. Childs and Ms. Childs’ friends and relatives since this incident.”

A termination entry in that case filed a week later on September 20th said “Upon application of the Prosecuting Attorney and for good cause was shown,” the case was dismissed without prejudice.

WHIO-TV reported: “On Sept. 10, 2018, Dayton Municipal Court Judge Daniel Gehres ordered an additional year of probation for Goodwin and continued an April decision for a criminal protection order that Goodwin was to stay 500 feet away from Childs. The order also prohibited Goodwin from contacting Childs by telephone.”

A criminal complaint and affidavit filed in Dayton Municipal Court revealed that Goodwin also reportedly kidnapped LaShonda on January 31st, 2018.

“Trendell Goodwin slapped his girlfriend, LaShonda Childs in the face after she told him she was leaving to hang out with a friend,” Dayton police officer Sara VonHolle wrote. “The argument escalated until Goodwin threatened to knock out Childs. Goodwin then kicked Childs out of the residence with little clothing.”

Officer VonHolle’s statement continued: “After Childs attempted to make contact with neighbors she returned to the residence in an attempt to retrieve clothing and shoes. Goodwin then dragged Childs into the residence and would not allow her to leave. When DPD arrived on scene Childs could be heard from inside the residence yelling that he would not let her out. To affect the arrest, DPD forced entry into the home where Goodwin was taken into custody.”

Court records show that the case was presented to a grand jury for possible felony charges, however, a termination entry was filed on February 9th, 2018 that showed no counts moved forward. “Case ignored by the grand jury,” the entry read.

3Less than two weeks before her shooting death, LaShonda posted a lengthy message on Facebook saying “domestic violence is real not just in movies.”

On September 21st, LaShonda Childs wrote a long message on Facebook about the dangers of ignoring signs of domestic violence. “Everybody want a crazy n***a until he got you hiding & dodging bullets,” she said. “If you see the signs don’t ignore it y’all. Domestic violence is real not just in movies.”

You can read her post, which has been shared more than 50,000 times, in its entirety here:

All jokes aside tho, everybody want a crazy n***a until he got you hiding & dodging bullets. If you see the signs don’t ignore it y’all. Domestic violence is real not just in movies. This n***a done broke several phones, busted windows out, followed me from my house to wherever, bit me several times, threw me into walls, made me walk places with a gun to my back, put all my stuff in a sewer, held me hostage in a house & didn’t let me leave, sat & waited at abandoned houses & watched me, pulled my whole sew in off leaving bald spots all that, now he done set my hair on fire & shot my house up that ain’t even half the shit he did but I’m telling y’all that ain’t where it’s at If y’all see the signs don’t ignore it i should’ve left that n***a a long time ago now I ain’t even safe in my own house..

Trenny Mack, Goodwin’s Facebook alias, responded the post and comments by other people. His comments have since been removed, but WHIO-TV copied them beforehand.

“If y’all really believe this s*** y’all sick,” read one comment by Goodwin. “This the 12th or 13th time she said I did something but still coming back. Stop it.”

When someone commented that Goodwin should let Childs “breathe,” he responded: “I’m a let her breathe today. She better come home tomorrow tho, I gotta big day planned and some good news.”

One of the most alarming comment threads on the post was from a friend who suggested she “block him” because “he got way too much access to you.” LaShonda responded: “Blocking don’t help he stole my phone he can get access to all my sh**.” Her friend then told her to “leave the city before you end up dead somewhere.” LaShonda said, “I am.”

On the morning of September 21st, Childs also posted that Goodwin had stolen her phone and set her on fire.

“Y’all Trenny Mack Stole my phone & set me on fire So if y’all been getting random inboxes or seeing dumb posts report it & if y’all see that n***a call the Police,” she wrote. “I’m sick of this sh** he on some ‘if I can’t have her nobody can’ weird a** sh**”

4Goodwin fired multiple rounds into a parked car Childs and her new boyfriend were sitting in. Childs was shot in the head and died at the hospital the next day.

Not even two weeks after LaShonda’s alarming Facebook posts, she was shot and killed by Trendell Goodwin.

Court documents state that Goodwin fired multiple rounds at Childs and her new boyfriend while they were sitting in a parked vehicle on Tuesday, October 2nd.

Childs was shot in the head and was driven to the hospital by her boyfriend. She was pronounced dead Wednesday morning (Oct. 3).

According to the Dayton Daily News, Childs called 911 before she and her boyfriend were shot at.

“This dude got a gun pointed to my boyfriend’s head,” Childs reportedly told the 911 operator on Tuesday. “I’ve got a restraining order on him. The police told me to call when I see him. I gave you the address. Can’t you just send somebody out there? I’m scared. He’s got a gun. I can’t talk … I can’t talk. I’m in a bad situation.”

An autopsy confirmed that LaShonda died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Goodwin was arrested the night of the shooting and charged with her murder the next day. The Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office approved charges against Goodwin of murder (two counts), felonious assault (three counts) and improper discharge of a firearm (two counts) on Thursday (Oct. 4), WHIO-TV reported.

LaShonda’s mother, Nina Childs, said she knew something was wrong Tuesday night when police knocked on her door and asked her if everything was alright. “I said, ‘Well as far as I know. Why are you here?’” Nina said.

Police told her that LaShonda had been involved in an altercation, but didn’t say that she was shot and they didn’t mention Goodwin. At that point, Nina started calling LaShonda, but she didn’t answer her phone. “I’m still not thinking that my child was shot,” Nina said.

Not too long after, detectives came to her house and asked Nina if she knew what happened between her daughter and Goodwin. “I told them there was a protection order in place,” Nina said. “The basic reason was that she did not want to date him. He had posted lots of things on Facebook that he would kill her.”

Detectives then told Nina that her daughter had been shot and took her to Grandview Medical to see her. When they arrived, Nina said she had to take a moment before seeing LaShonda. “I couldn’t see my child like that,” she said. “I just couldn’t do it at that moment.”

Nina called her son, LaShonda’s brother Jaylon, to tell him what had happened to his sister. “I was at Walmart shopping,” he said. “I left the cart where it was, dropped everything and headed straight to the hospital.”

When Nina went back to see LaShonda, she said she knew her daughter was dead. “It was very obvious,” she said. “Looking at her I knew she had already died.”

“It was hard,” Jaylon said. “I’d seen her in the hospital before, but nothing like that.”

Nina said she received a call from Grandview hospital around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday morning and was told LaShonda had died. Both Nina and Jaylon said they hope Goodwin spends the rest of his life in prison without parole. “Whatever happens to him, I can’t get my sister back,” Jaylon said. “As long as justice is served, there may be some peace.”

Jaylon also hopes that other women don’t have to go through the same thing his sister did. “I just want to tell all the young girls, all the females, families, friends, if you see the signs, don’t ignore them,” he said. “Do what you got to do. Use the resources. There’s too many out here not to.”

Nina said losing her daughter was “something that will be devastating for the rest of my life.”

According to a number of posts on Facebook from her friends and family, Friday, October 5th, would have been LaShonda Childs’ 18th birthday.

Nina Childs is accepting donations via GoFundMe to help with LaShonda’s funeral and medical expenses. “No donation is [too] small and our family [appreciates] all the love and support from everyone during this tragic time in our lives,” she wrote. CLICK HERE TO DONATE.

CJ Fuller Died After Being Rushed to the Hospital, Complained of Chest Pains Earlier That Day

Football fans were shocked yesterday when the news broke about the sudden death of former Clemson running back CJ Fuller.

Fuller was only 22 years old, so people naturally are asking questions like: How did he die? What was his cause of death?

PREVIOUSLY: Former Clemson Football Player CJ Fuller Dies at 22

While we still don’t have the definitive answer to those questions, as an official cause of death for Fuller has yet to be released, we do know what happened in the moments leading up to his passing.

According to the Pickens County coroner, a death investigation is underway, but she noted that there were no “suspicious” circumstances surrounding Fuller’s death.

TMZ says they spoke to a “source extremely close to Fuller” who said that the football star had torn his ACL playing flag football about two weeks ago, and had surgery to repair the injury at the end of September.

Fuller had gone to physical therapy to rehab his knee just a few hours before his death “and it was clear something wrong,” the gossip site reported.

Fuller went to physical therapy for the first time on Wednesday (10/3) as part of his recovery and completed a full session without issue. When he arrived back to his home, we’re told he “went to the ground” and asked for water—clearly feeling something was wrong.

People close to C.J. called for an ambulance and he was rushed to a nearby hospital. He was pronounced dead a short time later. There are rumblings Fuller’s death was a direct result of complications from the knee surgery—but we’re told that hasn’t been determined yet.

When Fuller’s brother called 911, he reportedly told the operated it looked like he was having a seizure. He said Fuller had “passed out,” though it’s unclear if he was conscious at the time.

“C.J.’s brother and other family members desperately tried to help Fuller—following the operator’s instructions—and begged for an ambulance to be sent over quickly,” TMZ reported.

In an interview with The Anderson Independent Mail and The Greenville News, a close family member said Fuller experienced chest pains before he collapsed Wednesday, and his death may have been the result of a blood clot.

Fuller was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital via ambulance from Pickens, and he was pronounced dead not too long after.

“He had been having some chest pains before that day, but they got worse fast,” CJ’s aunt, Zola Fuller Beeks, said. “He was conscious at one point, but when he got to the hospital, his speech was slurred. Before we knew it, he was gone. We think it had something to do with a blood clot, but you just don’t expect someone his age to be gone so fast.”

Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley said she’s still investigating what happened and doesn’t plan to release further information about Fuller’s death until after she completes an autopsy. Kelley said it could take up to six to eight weeks to find out the results from the autopsy.

CJ Fuller played football at Clemson from 2014 to 2017 and was a key player on the 2016 National Championship winning team. He redshirted in 2014 before accumulating 599 yards and rushing on 147 carries with five touchdowns over the next three season.

Fuller also racked up 290 yards on 17 career kickoff returns, including a 20-yard kickoff return in the 2016 National Championship game that jump-started Clemson’s game-winning drive against the University of Alabama.

“His dream was Clemson,” Fuller’s aunt said Thursday. “He made us champions. From the time he was 5 until he was 22, he loved football. It was a part of him. And to us, he will always be a champion.”

Before spring practice, Fuller had announced that he intended to transfer to another school. He graduated from Clemson in August with a degree in sociology.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney issued a statement about Fuller’s passing Wednesday night.

“Our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies are with C.J.’s family,” Swinney said. “I’ve known C.J. a long time and watched him grow up through the Easley rec leagues all the way through Easley High School. I’m proud of what he accomplished as a Clemson Tiger, most of all, his accomplishment of being a Clemson graduate. Our deepest condolences and the thoughts of our program are with his family… May he rest in peace.”

Before attending Clemson, Fuller graduated from Easley High School, where he helped lead the program to three consecutive playoff appearances for the first time in the school’s history.

Back in March, Fuller was arrested along with his former Clemson teammate Jadar Johnson and his former high school teammate Quaven Ferguson and charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.

The case has not gone to trial, and Fuller’s aunt said she doesn’t want her nephew to be remembered as someone charged with a crime who hadn’t had his day in court yet to defend himself against the allegations.

“CJ had a lot of good to give the world,” Fuller’s aunt said. “Now, he won’t have the chance.”

Fred Hopkins: Florence Shooting Suspect ID’d as 74-Year-Old Disbarred Lawyer & Vietnam Veteran

74-year-old Frederick “Fred” Hopkins has been identified by authorities as the man accused of shooting several police officers in Florence, South Carolina.

Hopkins opened fire on seven law enforcement officers Wednesday (Oct. 3), killing Terrence Carraway, a beloved officer and family man who had just celebrated 30 years with the Florence Police Department. Two of the other wounded officers are in critical condition.

Authorities said Hopkins rained gunfire on the police officers from two agencies, killing Carraway and wounding six others, from a perch inside his home near Florence, South Carolina. Police were there to serve a search warrant for Hopkins’ 27-year-old son Seth, who was accused of sexually assaulting a foster child at the home.

Fred Hopkins, also known as Frederick Hopkins, was taken to the hospital because he fell and hit his head at the scene, and has not been able to speak with police. He is the husband of Cheryl Turner-Hopkins, a prominent divorce lawyer in the Florence area. Hopkins himself is a disbarred lawyer.

Here’s what you need to know about Fred Hopkins and the shooting:

1Frederick “Fred” Hopkins is a Vietnam Veteran who claimed he suffered from Agent Orange.

Fred Hopkins wrote in rambling posts on Facebook that he was a Vietnam veteran and survivor of cancer, an ailment for which he attributed to Agent Orange exposure.

Court documents from an old child support case in 2000 indicated Hopkins was wounded in Vietnam. “Father was injured in the Vietnam war; his sole source of income is his disability check of $1127.00 per month,” the documents say in reference to Hopkins.

He wrote in one particular Facebook post (via Heavy.com):

“Today was a fantastic day! I went to the Dorn VA Hospital in Columbia, SC, and spoke with my oncologist, who gave me some very good news. My recent P.E.T. scan from the Charleston VA Hospital shows that I have no evidence of an active case of ‘b-cell lymphoma.’ Once I complete my schedule of chemo sessions, they will let me rest for several months and monitor my case with simple scans. That means — no radiation treatments in the near future. I am in remission!!! My family couldn’t be happier. Looks like I will be around for a few more years. I just might make it to my birthday in two days! The sun was shining and the powers above looked upon me with kindness.”

Hopkins also wrote that he had “many things to be thankful for and life is one of those miracles. Now I can concentrate on my nine little pups and give them hope. Have a great day, one and all. Today I tried to remember those who passed on 9/11 and all those friends of mine from EMHS who crossed over much too early! Be patient, we will all be together in the far future.”

In that post, Hopkins claimed that he had lost 50 comrades in Vietnam.

“I miss you all very much and especially those who died 6 May 1970 on the slopes of FSB Henderson, RVN,” he wrote. “Time magazine in the May 1970 issue it was the bloodiest firebase attack in the Army’s history. I lost more than 50 of the best brothers I ever knew my short life. They deserved better.”

Hopkins also wrote about being exposed to “heavy doses” of Agent Orange:

“Had the biggest ‘gut check’ of my life yesterday. I underwent 8.5 hours [of] chemo for ‘mantle cell lymphoma’ because I was exposed to heavy doses of ‘Agent Orange’ while performing combat duties with the 101st Airborne Division in Viet Nam in 1969-1970. I have been fighting this disease for five years on my own and the VA finally found out why I had pain and swollen nodules in my neck. Next chemo on June 12th. Feeling well so far, but was allergic to several meds they gave me. No pain, no gain! My eight kids are all in the house and one on the way — due about August 8th, plus or minus ten days. Updates to follow.”

2Fred Hopkins’ wife, Cheryl Turner-Hopkins, is a prominent divorce and family attorney in the Florence area.

Fred Hopkins is married to Cheryl Turner-Hopkins, a well-known divorce attorney in the Florence area. In a 2011 news story, Cheryl Turner-Hopkins was quoted because she was representing a woman whose husband was accused of killing her.

According to Heavy, Hopkins recently posted on Facebook a series of pictures of flowers and other gifts his wife received for Mother’s Day. “These are pictures of my Bride’s (Cheryl Hopkins) many presents from Mother’s Day (13 May 2018) and posted on my timeline,” he wrote.

Hopkins indicated on Facebook that he and Cheryl have been married for more than 30 years.

“Today I spent several hours getting medicine for my wife of 30+ years,” he shared in one post. “I am very proud of her and know how important good medicine is a getting it on time. I would be lost without her good cheer and great jokes and stories from the courthouse. I am about to go to dinner in Garden City, SC and hope to meet my fourth son, Jeremy, who is now attending Clemson. Since I received my doctorate from USC, he is bound and determined to tell me that Clemson (ranked #3 nationally) is the best. Well, whatever.”

3Fred Hopkins is a former lawyer himself, who was disbarred in 1984. He was also charged with disorderly conduct in 2014.

Fred Hopkins is a former lawyer who was disbarred in 1984, according to public records from the South Carolina Bar Association. His name was given as Frederick T. Hopkins, Jr. and the records show that he obtained his law degree from an unlisted law school in 1980.

According to the Associated Press, Hopkins lost his law license over $18,000 in wrongfully collected attorney fees. The state Supreme Court allowed Hopkins to pay back the debt over time and surrender his license in lieu of spending six months in jail, a court order from 1984 shows.

The court wrote that Hopkins was ordered to jail after he failed to return the money as part of a previous order. The order notes that Hopkins spent more than two weeks in jail before the court allowed his wife to be held jointly liable for paying back the money.

In 2002, Hopkins sued two men over the building of his home, but the court dismissed his case because he refused to participate in mediation as required by court order. Hopkins acted pro se, meaning he represented himself in the case, according to court documents.

Hopkins was charged with disorderly conduct in 2014, but the case was disposed of a few weeks later, court documents stated.

4Fred Hopkins’ wife Cheryl Turner-Hopkins helped him with a previous divorce.

Fred Hopkins pictured with his wife Cheryl Turner-Hopkins.

According to a Supreme Court decision from 2000, Fred Hopkins was previously married to a woman named Carol Hopkins, and his second wife, Cheryl Turner-Hopkins, helped him with the divorce.

“Mother and Father were married in 1967; they divorced in May 1983,” that court case said, in reference to Fred and Carol Hopkins. “They had two children: (a son), born May 26, 1972, and (a second son), born December 4, 1969. Father was ordered to pay child support of $350.00 per month. In November 1986, Father was found to be $18,693.00 in arrears in his child support, and an order garnishing $432.60 per month of his military disability payments was entered.”

The court case continued: “The younger son…went to live with Father for approximately 5 months, from late April, 1990, through September, 1990. In early May 1990, Father instituted the instant action seeking custody of (the son); a hearing was held on May 13, 1990, three days prior to (the son)’s 18th birthday. Father sought termination of support for his older son …claiming he was over age 18 and was not entitled to post-emancipation support; Father did, however, request Mother be required to pay post-emancipation support for (the son). The family court gave Father temporary custody of (the son) but required Father to continue making his child support payments pending the final hearing.”

The court documents indicated that Hopkins “was represented at trial by his current wife, attorney Cheryl Turner Hopkins.”

5Fred Hopkins is the father of sons who worked in law enforcement.

Fred Hopkins’ family in an undated photo.

According to Facebook, at least two of Fred Hopkins’ sons have worked in law enforcement, and one is currently a police officer in South Carolina whose profile picture on Facebook shows him wearing a police uniform.

Another one of Hopkins’ sons posted a crying emoji as his profile picture on Facebook and shared a graphic that reads, “Light up Facebook with this blue candle for all of our fallen officers.” That son wrote on after the shooting of multiple Dallas police officers Facebook in 2016: “I have made a tribute video if anyone would care to see it….please feel free to visit my page and view it. Having been in law enforcement now for 11 years thought it was the least I could do to honor all of the fallen. If you like the video please feel free to share it.”

Another son of Hopkins listed his job as running odd jobs at the Cheryl Turner Hopkins law firms.

6Authorities said Hopkins’ gunfire “was being shot all over” and the way he was positioned gave him an “advantage” over responding officers.

Officials said gunfire from Hopkins “was being shot all over” and officers saw fellow officers being gunned down.

The way Hopkins was positioned, officials said his “view of fire was several hundred yards,” which gave him a clear advantage over the responding officers. Authorities said the officers “couldn’t get to the ones who were down” due to the raining gunfire.

Hopkins opened fire on seven total officers, killing one, who was later identified as Florence Police Department Officer Terrence Carraway. Carraway had received a 30-year service pin within the last few months from the department, officials said.

The disabled Vietnam veteran, who barricaded himself in the home with children, was taken into custody Wednesday. He’s unable to speak with officers due to a head injury he suffered in the shooting incident.

According to WIS, the warrant that brought cops to the home was related to an accusation that Hopkins’ 27-year-old son sexually assaulted a foster child in the home. Son Seth Hopkins was ID’d as the civilian who was shot during the confrontation.
