PETA Faces Backlash After Criticizing Google for Steve Irwin Doodle

PETA is under fire after the animal rights organization criticized Google’s Doodle tribute to Steve Irwin.

Today (Fri, Feb. 22) marks what would have been Irwin’s 57th birthday, and Google honored him by giving him a Google Doodle on the search engine giant’s front page. The Doodle featured an animated slideshow showing the Crocodile Hunter’s life, work, family and dedication to the protection of Australian wildlife.

PETA, however, had thoughts about Google’s Steve Irwin Doodle tribute. And not good ones either. The group said in a statement via Twitter that Google’s animation honoring Irwin sent a “dangerous, fawning message” because they didn’t approve of Irwin’s work with animals.

“Steve Irwin was killed while harassing a [stingray],” PETA wrote. “He dangled his baby while feeding a crocodile and wrestled wild animals who were minding their own business. Today’s Google Doodle sends a dangerous, fawning message. Wild animals are entitled to be left alone in their natural habits.”

The comments from the group, which is known for being very outspoken when it comes to their views against any form of animal cruelty, sparked backlash on social media and made “PETA” a worldwide trending topic on Twitter.

“Saw PETA was trending and I figured that couldn’t be good,” one Twitter user wrote. “But I was not prepared for them to be disrespecting Steve Irwin. The Irwin family are angels and Steve’s death was a tragedy. Also a tragedy: the continued existence of PETA.”

“I can love animals and hate PETA at the same time. I’m a multitasker,” wrote comedian Marie Connor.

“The hatred I have for PETA has SKYROCKETED after the Steve Irwin tweet. F**k yall,” wrote another Twitter user.

Other users pointed out that Steve Irwin has helped more animals than PETA has.

PETA didn’t back down from their comments either.

PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said in a statement to Daily Mail Australia Friday: “PETA must ask who commissioned these dangerous, hagiographic cartoons of a man who died while harassing a stingray, dangled his baby while feeding a crocodile, and ‘wrestled’ wild animals who were minding their own business.”

She added: “This fawning, ignorant tribute is a slap in the face to the vast majority of people who acknowledge that wild animals are entitled to be left alone in their natural habitats.”

The group also maintained their stance against Irwin on Twitter, writing: “Steve Irwin’s actions were not on target with his supposed message of protecting wildlife. A real wildlife expert & someone who respects animals for the individuals they are leaves them to their own business in their natural homes.”

PETA continued: “It is harassment to drag exotic animals, including babies taken from their mothers, around from TV talk shows to conferences & force them to perform as Steve Irwin did. Animals deserve to live as they want to, not as humans demand—the #GoogleDoodle should represent that.”

Folks still weren’t trying to hear all that noise, and promptly let PETA know.

R. Kelly Turns Himself in to Chicago Police on Sexual Abuse Charges

Robert Sylvester Kelly, best known as R. Kelly, voluntarily turned himself in to the custody of Chicago police Friday night (Feb. 22), AP reports, after he was charged for sexually abusing four girls—at least three of whom were minors.

As we previously reported, Kelly was charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving underage girls.

Records obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times revealed that most of the counts the embattled R&B singer was charged with involved girls who were between the ages of 13 and 16 at the time the alleged sexual abuse occurred, which prosecutors say was between 1998 and 2010.

Prosecutors said of the 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, nine of them involve alleged victims ranging in age from 13 to 16 years old. There are four alleged victims in total and one of them is the subject of four different counts.

A judge issued a no-bail warrant for Kelly’s arrest early Friday because the singer is a flight risk and would have likely tried to leave the country after posting bail in an extreme effort to evade the law.

R. Kelly’s attorney, Steve Greenberg, told the Associated Press that his client was “extraordinarily disappointed and depressed” by the aggravated sexual abuse indictment involving underage girls. Greenberg also said Kelly was “shell-shocked” over the charges.

Greenberg said Kelly maintains his innocence and is looking forward to being acquitted at trial.

R. Kelly has dealt with allegations of sex crimes for two decades. Friday’s indictment marks the first time he’s been charged with a sex crime since he was acquitted of child pornography charges in 2008.

The new charges against Robert Kelly come one week after it was revealed that a new videotape emerged that allegedly shows Kelly engaging in multiple sex acts with a 14-year-old girl.

Each count brought against the singer-songwriter is a Class 2 felony, which can be punished by at least three to seven years in prison or probation.

“Hangover” Actor Brody Stevens Dies by Suicide at 48, Comedian Hanged Himself

Stand-up comedian Brody Stevens has died by suicide. He was 48 years old.

According to The Blast, which broke the sad news, Stevens—who was born Steven James Brody—was found dead Friday (Feb. 22) around 1:00 p.m. in his home in Los Angeles.

The Blast reported that the comedic actor’s cause of death was being investigated as a suicide by hanging.

According to our sources, LAPD was dispatched to the scene and investigators spoke with his family. The Blast obtained audio from the emergency dispatchers, where officials described the scene as a “hanging.”

A rep for Brody Stevens tells The Blast, “Brody was an inspiring voice who was a friend to many in the comedy community. He pushed creative boundaries and his passion for his work and his love of baseball were contagious. He was beloved by many and will be greatly missed. We respectfully ask for privacy at this time.”

Brody Stevens was very well known as a stand-up comic from Los Angeles and for his oddball comedy. He regularly performed at clubs around L.A., including The Comedy Store.

He also bit some bit parts in big movies like “The Hangover” and “The Hangover II.” Below he appears as a police officer in a hilarious scene from the first film.

Stevens also created his own Comedy Central series “Brody Stevens: Enjoy It!” with his friend, “Hangover” star Zach Galifianakis. He was also an avid baseball fan and even played the sport in college as a pitcher at Arizona State University until he injured his elbow.

Stevens had struggled with mental health issues in the past, and he was hospitalized in 2011 after having a manic bipolar episode in which he said during a Twitter meltdown “I’m off Lexapro and I have a gun in my mouth! Do you believe me?” and got into a verbal altercation with a random stranger at Starbucks.

Stevens, who was very open about his problems with depression, recently expressed disappointment at the negative reactions to a comedy special he taped.

Sources close to Stevens’ circle told The Blast that he’s been taking care of his mother in Palm Springs, California for

R. Kelly “Shell-Shocked” by Sex Abuse Charges, Singer’s Lawyer Says He Will Turn Himself in Tonight

R. Kelly’s attorney says the singer is “shell-shocked” after being charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and he plans on turning himself in to Chicago police Friday night (Feb. 22).

Steve Greenberg, who is representing Kelly, told the Associated Press that his client is “extraordinarily disappointed and depressed” by the aggravated sexual abuse indictment, which involves underage girls.

PREVIOUSLY: No-Bail Arrest Warrant for R. Kelly Issued After He’s Charged With 10 Counts of Criminal Sexual Abuse Involving Underage Girls

Greenberg said before the charges were filed, he offered to sit down with Chicago prosecutors to discuss why he considered the charges “baseless,” but they refused.

Greenberg said Kelly maintains his innocence and is looking forward to being acquitted at trial.

Michael Avenatti, a well-known attorney who said he recently sent a videotape of R. Kelly having sex with a 14-year-old girl to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office, is representing at least one of the girls that were included in the indictment.

Avenatti declined to identify his client, who he said was a minor at the time of the alleged abuse.

Avanatti said that the video he provided shows two separate scenes on two separate days at Kelly’s residence at the time during the late 1990s. Avenatti said both the victim and Kelly referenced her age 10 times in the video.

Avenatti also said that he believes more than 10 people associated with Kelly—including his agents, bodyguards and other workers—should be criminally charged as “enablers” who “turned a blind eye” to his alleged sexual abuse of underage girls.

Asked if he had a message to R. Kelly, Avenatti said: “It is high-time that you face justice for the conduct you have engaged in for over two decades and don’t count on getting out of prison.”

“Empire” Considers Recasting Jamal Lyon Role After Dropping Jussie Smollett From Season 5 Finale

Producers for Empire announced early Friday (Feb. 22) that Jussie Smollett’s character Jamal Lyon would not appear in the final two episodes of the show after his cast mates made it clear that they want nothing to do with him after his arrest for lying to police about being attacked by racist, homophobic Trump supporters.

And now, reports suggest producers for the hit Fox series are considering bringing in a new actor to replace Smollett instead of simply writing his character out of the show.

According to TV Line, showrunner Lee Daniels—who loosely based the Jamal Lyon character on his own life—is a “strong proponent of the recast option.”

Fox said in a statement earlier today about Smollett’s Season 5 ousting: “The events of the past few weeks have been incredibly emotional for all of us. Jussie has been an important member of our EMPIRE family for the past five years and we care about him deeply. While these allegations are very disturbing, we are placing our trust in the legal system as the process plays out.

“We are also aware of the effects of this process on the cast and crew members who work on our show and to avoid further disruption on set, we have decided to remove the role of ‘Jamal’ from the final two episodes of the season.”

Fox added that Lee Daniels and his team of executive producers—including Danny Strong, Brett Mahoney, Brian Grazer, Sanaa Hamri, Francie Calfo, and Dennis Hammer—all agreed that it would be best to remove Jussie from the Season 5 finale.

Smollett, who has played Jamal Lyon on the Fox drama since its debut four years ago in January 2015, was turned himself in to Chicago police Thursday after he was hit with a felony criminal charge of disorderly conduct for filing a false police report in connection to last month’s alleged hate crime attack.

Chicago police said in a press conference Thursday that Smollett paid two men, Nigerian brothers Abel and Ola Osundairo, to stage the attack because he was unhappy with his Empire salary.

After leaving Cook County jail Thursday on $100k bond, Smollett went straight to the Empire set and apologized to everyone, but maintained his innocence.

TMZ reported that Smollett changed his number “because certain pissed off cast members were blowing up his phone,” and he only gave his new number out to the people who still support him.

Not long after his arrest Thursday, the actor’s legal team released a statement saying: “Today we witnessed an organized law enforcement spectacle that has no place in the American legal system. The presumption of innocence, a bedrock in the search for justice, was trampled upon at the expense of Mr. Smollett and notably, on the eve of a Mayoral election.

“Mr. Smollett is a young man of impeccable character and integrity who fiercely and solemnly maintains his innocence and feels betrayed by a system that apparently wants to skip due process and proceed directly to sentencing.”

No-Bail Arrest Warrant for R. Kelly Issued After He’s Charged With 10 Counts of Criminal Sexual Abuse Involving Underage Girls

UPDATE: R. Kelly Turns Himself in to Chicago Police on Sexual Abuse Charges

Original story:

R. Kelly was charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in Cook County Friday morning (Feb. 22), court records show.

Records obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times reveal that most of the counts the embattled R&B singer was charged with involved girls who were between the ages of 13 and 16 at the time the alleged sexual abuse occurred, which prosecutors say was between 1998 and 2010.

These new charges against Robert Kelly come one week after it was revealed that a new videotape emerged that allegedly shows Kelly engaging in multiple sex acts with a 14-year-old girl.

Earlier today, TMZ reported that a Chicago grand jury listened to testimony from two women who accused R. Kelly of having sex with minors. One of the women also reportedly turned over physical evidence.

Sources familiar with the hearing tell TMZ … one alleged victim testified she was underage when she had sex with the singer in Illinois between 2008 and 2010. We’re told she provided prosecutors with physical evidence to back her allegations. We do not know the nature of that evidence.

Our sources say the second woman told the grand jury she had knowledge of sexual encounters between R. Kelly and underage girls, and also corroborated details revealed in “Surviving R. Kelly.”

We’re told as many as a dozen accusers have come forward and testified before the grand jury since it convened.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, a judge approved a no-bail arrest warrant for R. Kelly after the charges were announced.

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx went through the charges in a brief news conference Friday and noted that Kelly could be arrested at any moment and was expected to appear at a bond hearing Saturday.

Each count brought against the singer-songwriter is a Class 2 felony, which can be punished by at least three to seven years in prison or probation.

Kelly’s attorney, Steven Greenberg, said Friday afternoon before the press conference that he hadn’t been notified that his client had been charged. Greenberg has said in the past that Kelly denies any wrongdoing.

Kelly has dealt with allegations of sex crimes for two decades. Friday’s indictment marks the first time he’s been charged with a sex crime since he was acquitted of child pornography charges in 2008.

T.I.’s Sister Precious Harris Dies at 66 Years Old

T.I.’s sister, Precious Harris, has died, according to a social media post from her daughter. She was 66 years old.

Precious passed away Friday (Feb. 22), a little over a week after she was involved in a serious car accident in Atlanta.

According to sources, Precious ran into a pole, which triggered an asthma attack. She’d been hospitalized in the ICU since the crash.

Precious’ daughter Kamaya Harris wrote on Instagram:

“From my bestfriend on earth to My beautiful angel in heaven… mama girl you know ima miss you… I love you so much. I’m so heartbroken but the way you looked so @ peace this past week has confirmed that you are resting… no more asthma attacks… damn but baby I am going to miss you.”

T.I. and his wife Tiny shut down production of their TV show Friends & Family Hustle last Wednesday (Feb. 13) after finding out Precious was involved in a car crash earlier that morning.

Sources close to the Harris family said Precious, who regularly appeared on the family’s VH1 show, had been on life support since the accident and was never responsive.

T.I. and Tiny are said to be “devastated,” as they were both incredibly close to Precious. The rapper shared a message on Instagram, saying: “We Love You Dearly Baby Girl…”

Jussie Smollett Released on $100K Bail, Actor Told Police He Has an Untreated Drug Addiction

Jussie Smollett was released from the custody of Chicago police Thursday afternoon (Feb. 21) after posting $100,000 bail.

RELATED: Jussie Smollett Texted Nigerian Brothers “Might Need Your Help on the Low” Before Staging Attack

The Empire star looked pathetic as he did the walk of shame from Cook County jail and was swarmed by the media before leaving in a black SUV.

According to TMZ, during his arrest, Smollett told police he has a drug problem that’s never been treated, which could become relevant later in the case because cops said Jussie bought ecstasy from Abel Olundairo.

“IF he were convicted, a drug issue could be a mitigating factor that gets his sentenced reduced,” TMZ reported.

Smollett turned himself in to Chicago police early Thursday morning after he was indicted on a felony charge of disorderly conduct for filing a police report when he said he was attacked in downtown Chicago by two men who hurled racist and anti-gay slurs at him and looped a rope around his neck.

It was later revealed that the actor paid two men $3,500 to help him stage the attack because he was unhappy with his Empire salary.

Jussie Smollett faces up to three years in jail if convicted.

Jussie Smollett Texted Nigerian Brothers “Might Need Your Help on the Low” Before Staging Attack

Prosecutors have released not-so-shocking new details in the Jussie Smollett case following his arrest for lying to police.

According to the court documents, obtained by TMZ, Smollett sent a text to Abel and Ola Osundairo four days before the staged attack, then met with them to go over details.

Prosecutors also said Smollett “received” the now-infamous hate mail letter, which contained homophobic and racial epithets, on January 22nd at the Chicago studio where Empire is shot.

TMZ has the details below:

The letter contained an “unknown white powdery substance.” It would appear that was intended to make people think it was Anthrax or some other dangerous chemical … but prosecutors say it turned out to be crushed Ibuprofen.

Then on January 25, Jussie fires off the text to Abel Osundairo, saying … “Might need your help on the low. You around to meet up and talk face to face?” Cops say Abel and Jussie had been friends since the fall of 2017, and that Jussie sometimes scored ecstasy from him.

Later on the 25th, they did meet face to face outside Abel’s Chicago apartment and talked in Jussie’s car about staging the attack. Cops say this is when Ola was brought onboard.

The original plan, according to cops, was for Ola to place a rope around Jussie’s neck, pour gasoline on him and yell, “This is MAGA country.” At that point, they say Jussie gave them a $100 bill to go purchase necessary items for the “attack.”

On January 27, they meet again and drive around Chicago to scout locations. Cops say Smollett told them to leave their cell phones and pointed out the surveillance cam near Jussie’s residence that he believed would record the incident.

They made a late change from gasoline to bleach — although cops don’t say why — and Smollett also handed them the $3,500 check payable to Abel and backdated to Jan. 23. As we’ve reported, Jussie noted in the memo line that the check was for training.

On January 28, the brothers bought the materials and Abel deposited the check.

Now to the “attack” … at 12:49 AM, on January 29, cops say there was a 3-minute call between Smollett and Abel, and Jussie told him the “attack” would go down at exactly 2 AM.

As you know, the Osundairos boarded a flight for Nigeria later on the 29th — but police say Jussie spoke to Abel on Jan. 30. They say Jussie called him for 8 minutes and 48 seconds, while Abel was in Turkey.

And, there’s this … you’ll recall Smollett’s camp told TMZ the day of the attack, he believed his attackers were white. Cops say he also told them, “he could see that the area around this person’s eyes was white-skinned.”

Whew chile, this whole thing has turned into a HUGE mess!

Donald Trump Slams Jussie Smollett on Twitter After Actor’s Arrest for Staged Attack: “What About MAGA?”

President Donald Trump weighed in on Jussie Smollett’s arrest Thursday, calling the actor out for making “racist and dangerous comments” and insulting “tens of millions of people.”

The Empire star turned himself in to Chicago police early Thursday morning to face a felony charge of disorderly conduct for filing a false police report. During a press conference after his arrest, Chicago police said Smollett staged his attack because he was “dissatisfied” with his Empire salary.

Trump’s Twitter fingers went to work this morning after Smollett’s arrest. He wrote: “.@JussieSmollett – what about MAGA and the tens of millions of people you insulted with your racist and dangerous comments!? #MAGA”

In his initial report about the incident, Smollett claimed that his attackers yelled “MAGA,” a reference to Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign slogan. The actor also claimed his attackers poured bleach on him, put a noose around his neck and yelled racist and homophobic slurs at him.

Trump was asked about the alleged attack on January 31st, two days after it happened, and said: “I can tell you that it’s horrible. It doesn’t get worse.”

Smollett has been attacking the president and his supporters for years. In one post from January 20th, he called Trump “and all his white cohorts” a “national disgrace.”

“And if you support them … so are you. Clowns,” he wrote along with a video showing far-left lawmaker Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) speaking.

The week before the attack, Smollett posted a video on Instagram showing the front of the Trump hotel in Chicago while Ice Cube’s “Arrest the President” song played in the background.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BsyCNyMBveP/

In Smollett’s Good Morning America interview that aired the day before the men who police say helped the actor stage the attack were arrested and held for questioning, Smollett claimed that he was targeted because he’s critical of Trump.

“I come really, really hard against 45,” Smollett told Robin Roberts. “I come really really hard against his administration, and I don’t hold my tongue.”

Wendy Williams’ Strange Disappearing Act Has Her Staff Freaked Out (Report)

One of New York’s most notorious shock jocks-turned-daytime-TV-hosts is on the brink of losing it all. Her signature tagline is “How YOU doin’?” and if the question were to be directed at her at the moment, the answer would be “NOT GOOD.”

Yes, I’m talking about Wendy Williams. Her talk show has been put on hiatus since December of last year when Wendy took a planned break as we all got ready for the new year.

But then Wendy didn’t return and instead cited vague health concerns as the issue. But ok, Wendy’s getting up there in age and she’s had some goofy injuries lately so that kind of made sense.

Wendy’s team lined up a rotating line-up of guest hosts to fill in for Wendy while she took the time she needed to recover, but now we’ve run through the guest hosts and it’s the end of February and there’s no sign of Wendy coming back soon.

Radar Online says Wendy has been ignoring her staff and it was announced that Wendy’s show will soon start showing re-runs.

So what’s eating Wendy? Word on the street is that it has to do with another bout of infidelity from her much-loathed husband Kevin Hunter.

Charlamagne tha God, Wendy’s former sidekick, took the opportunity to throw her husband, Kevin, under the bus as he was asked for his hot take on Wendy’s disappearing act, reports Madame Noire.

“I don’t f**k with Kevin. I think he’s a terrible human being,” said Charlamagne. “I will just tell you that I hope Wendy Williams wakes up before one day she doesn’t wake up.”

Welp. Sounds like Kevin might be putting his hands on Wendy. So maybe the recovery time is to allow some bruises to heal?

While I wouldn’t put it past Kevin to treat Wendy badly, I have a hard time believing Kevin would do anything to Wendy that would leave visible marks, but hey, if Tina Turner went through it silently, so could Wendy.

My opinion is that Wendy is bored, tired and done with her TV show and she’s just ready to cut her ties and move on. But that contract has her locked up for too damn long so she’s burnt out and mentally over it. In which case, ok….but why not just wrap up this one mo’ season and quit?

Mugshot Madness: Jussie Smollett Arrested, Police Say Actor Faked Attack Because He Was Unhappy With “Empire” Salary

The look on his face says it all…

Jussie Smollett posed for this mugshot after he turned himself in to Chicago police Thursday morning.

The actor’s arrest came just hours after he was indicted on a felony charge of disorderly conduct for filing a false police report when he said was attacked in downtown Chicago by two men who hurled racist and anti-gay slurs and looped a rope around his neck.

Smollett, who is black and gay, was booked early this morning (he turned himself in around 5 a.m. CT) and a bail hearing is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

Police held a press conference Thursday morning at 9 a.m. to address the public regarding Smollett’s arrest.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nVfV3tnpxs?start=1552

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson expressed outrage at Jussie Smollett for allegedly betraying the African American and LGBT communities for staging a “publicity stunt” to further his career.

Johnson said Smollett orchestrated the attack because “he was dissatisfied with his salary” on Empire. The superintendent also said Smollett’s wounds were most likely “self-inflicted.”

Johnson said the Chicago Police Department is in possession of a $3,500 check which Smollett paid the Osundairo brothers to carry out his plan.

“[Smollett] took advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career,” Johnson said. “I’m left hanging my head and asking why?”

Commander of Area Central Detectives Edward Wodnicki provided a timeline of events, noting that “this investigation started to spin in a completely new direction” after authorities interviewed brothers Olabinjo “Ola” Osundairo and Abimbola “Abel” Osundairo, who were considered suspects at the time, but are now deemed as witnesses following a testimony to the Grand Jury.

As for that “MAGA” letter, Johnson said Jussie sent it to himself.

If Jussie Smollett is convicted of the felony charges brought against him, he could face up to three years in prison and could also be required to pay for the cost of the investigation.

Jussie Smollett Indicted, Charged With One Felony Count of Disorderly Conduct for Filing False Police Report

Not too long after Chicago police announced that Jussie Smollett had been officially classified as a suspect in a criminal investigation for filing a false police report, the Empire actor was indicted by a Chicago grand jury and charged with a felony related to the ongoing investigation.

According to various news reports, the 36-year-old actor was hit with the indictment after grand jurors listened to testimonies and evaluated evidence.

Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said that detectives would contact Smollett’s legal team “to negotiate a reasonable surrender for his arrest.”

Law enforcement sources said the two Nigerian brothers who were arrested in connection with the alleged hate crime attack, told police that Smollett hired them to stage the January 29th assault that has dominated news headlines over the past few weeks.

As we previously reported, Ola and Abel Osundairo were captured on surveillance video footage purchasing a bunch of supplies before the incident, including ski masks, gloves, bandanas, sunglasses, and red hats.

Even though police had officially classified Jussie as a “victim” early on the investigation, law enforcement sources said that Chicago police doubted the Empire actor’s story from the beginning.

According to TMZ, investigators said they found it weird that Smollett kept the rope around his neck for nearly an hour after the “attack,” and on top of that, their suspicions rose when he led them to the scene of the “crime” and quickly pointed out a camera that he said captured the alleged incident. As it turns out, TMZ reported, the camera was pointed in the wrong direction.

Abel and Ola Osundairo reportedly told police that in the days prior to the incident, they drove with Jussie to scout out a location and even rehearsed the “attack.” Law enforcement officials believe Jussie scheduled the “attack” for January 29th because he knew the Osundairo brothers would be leaving for Nigeria that day.

As for the hate mail letter allegedly sent to Jussie at Fox Studios in Chicago, Ola and Abel said they had nothing to do with that, but admitted to seeing it in a photo on Jussie’s phone.

Meanwhile, the FBI is running tests to see if the postage stamp on the letter matches stamps police seized at the Osundairo brothers’ home and if the ripped out magazine pages found at their house matches the cut-out letters that were used.

According to Illinois law, filing a false police report is disorderly conduct and a class 4 felony that is punishable by a minimum of one to three years in prison.

WATCH: Beyoncé & Jay-Z “Bow Down” to Meghan Markle While Accepting Brit Award for Best International Group

Beyoncé and Jay-Z were honored at the 2019 Brit Awards, taking home the award for Best International Group for their 2018 joint album Everything Is Love.

Though hip-hop’s royal couple weren’t in attendance at the ceremony in London to physically accept their trophy, the couple posed with the award and thanked the Brit awards for honoring them in a video message that was played during the show featuring a surprise nod to Meghan Markle.

In their acceptance speech, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, collectively known as The Carters, recreated their “Apesh*t” music video, in which they pose in front of Leonardo da Vinci’s world-famous “Mona Lisa” painting. However, in place of Mona Lisa is a portrait of Meghan Markle looking regal wearing a sparking crown and pearl necklaces.

“Thank you so much to the Brit awards for this incredible honor,” Beyoncé said. “You guys have always been so supportive. Everything is love. Thank you.”

Jay-Z joked around, saying “You’re welcome” before the duo turned around to admire the portrait. The couple’s oldest daughter, 7-year-old Blue Ivy, can also be heard in the background screaming “why?!”

Beyoncé later shared a photo posing with the portrait on Instagram.

“Thank you to the Brits for the award for Best International Group,” she wrote. “I won this award back in 2002 with my besties, Kelly and Michelle. How lucky am I to have been in a group with my other best friend, the GOAT Hova.”

The pop megastar then explained why they were posing in front of a portrait of the Duchess of Sussex and congratulated her on her pregnancy.

“In honor of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas,” Bey wrote. “Congrats on your pregnancy! We wish you so much joy.”

Fans on Twitter were thrilled that Beyoncé and Jay-Z shouted out Meghan Markle, whose mother Doria Ragland is black, during the last few days of Black History Month.

The illustration, by artist Tim O’Brien, previously appeared on the cover of the alumnae magazine for Meghan’s sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, but the artist seemed surprise to see his work being used by Beyoncé and Jay-Z in their Brit Awards acceptance awards.

“Interesting to see my painting of Megan Markel behind @Beyonce and JZ for their Brit award,” he tweeted. “Congratulations to them both.”

Jussie Smollett is Now a Suspect in Allegedly Staged Attack, Faces 3 Years in Prison for Filing False Police Report

Chicago police have announced that Jussie Smollett has been officially classified as a suspect in a criminal investigation for filing a false police report.

Detectives are currently gathering evidence to present to a Cook County Grand Jury, according to a tweet from Chicago police.

Smollett faces up to three years in prison if he’s convicted of the felony charges.

TMZ reports that the Osundairo brothers are expected to testify as soon as today.

This development comes just moments after surveillance video footage was released showing brothers Ola and Abel Osundairo at a store buying a number of items for the allegedly staged attack, including ski masks, gloves, bandanas, sunglasses and red hats.

Video Shows Brothers Linked to Jussie Smollett Attack Buying Ski Masks & Red Hat Allegedly Worn in Assault

New video shows the two men who say Jussie Smollett hired them to stage the alleged hate crime attack buying a bunch of items they used during the incident.

The newly released surveillance footage, obtained by CBS2 in Chicago, shows what appears to be Ola and Abel Osundairo at the checkout counter ringing up ski masks, gloves, bandanas, sunglasses and red hats.

Police said Smollett claimed two men wearing a similar hat and masks attacked him on January 29th in Chicago. The Osundairo brothers were arrested last Wednesday, but were released without charges Friday.

Sources have said the two brothers, who are actors and appeared as extras on Empire, told investigators they helped stage the attack with Smollett. They said the Empire actor paid them $3,500 to assault him, pour bleach on him, and place a rope around his neck, all while yelling racist and homophobic slurs.

Sources said at least one of the brothers purchased the rope used in the incident, which was Smollett’s idea. The sources also said Smollett paid for the rope, which was bought at the Crafty Beaver Hardware Store the weekend of January 25th, just a few days before the attack.

One of the brothers is said to have held the rope and poured the bleach while the other wore a plain red hat and yelled the slurs at Smollett, sources said. The brothers reportedly told detectives that the attack was supposed to happen before January 29th and they, along with Smollett, rehearsed the attack days before it happened.

Smollett vehemently denies staging the incident, however.

Meanwhile, 21th Century Fox has repeatedly denied rumors that Smollett was being written off Empire.

“Jussie Smollett continues to be a consummate professional on set and as we have previously stated, he is not being written out of the show,” a Fox spokesperson stated.

According to TMZ, the brothers attended a court hearing Tuesday and were ready to testify for the grand jury, but they were called off at the last minute because Jussie’s attorneys plan to speak to police.

And guess what? This list is subject to updates and renewals. And after the latest reports, it’s safe to say that you can add Kylie Jenner’s BFF Jordyn Woods to that list of former friends cause Khloe Kardashian is calling the young girl OUT.

In the comments section of a post on Hollywood Unlocked’s Instagram, Khloe and her long-time friend Malika pretty much confirmed that Jordyn was getting cozy with Khloe’s man, Tristan Thompson, at a party over the weekend.

Yikes.

The fact that Tristan may or may not have cheated on Khloe again isn’t terribly surprising news to the world, given that he was caught cheating on her and embarrassed her publicly when she was pregnant with their daughter, True.

But what IS surprising to everyone, including Khloe, is that Jordyn Woods would betray Khloe in this way given her close friendship with Kylie Jenner, Khloe’s younger sister.

According to a report from E! News, the whole family is cutting Jordyn out of their lives.

This scandal marks the end of a friendship that spans well over a decade. A source tells E! News: “The whole family is writing Jordyn off.”

Cutting ties with the 21-year-old is going to be hardest for Kylie, who, according to a source, “was in denial for days.”

The makeup mogul “is very torn on how to handle the situation,” and for good reason. [Kylie’s 1-year-old daughter Stormi] fondly refers to Woods as Auntie Jordyn and [Kylie] reportedly lets her friend live in her guest house.

Man, Jordyn is about to be the new Blac Chyna among these girls. She is definitely getting deleted from the group chat and the social media unfollows are bout to be lit, if they haven’t already happened.

So far, Jordyn has kept it cute and hasn’t come out guns ablazing on social media. She and Tristan tried to mildly temper the fiery situation by claiming the rumors were “fake news,” but they couldn’t really run with that lie given that Khloe was running around on social media confirming every damn thing.

Wheeeeeww! One thing you have to give Khloe credit for is being the Kardashian who gives the least f**ks among her klan.

As for Jordyn, if she doesn’t have credible receipts to rebuke these claims, she’s better off just taking the L, packing her wigs and heading on out of Kylie’s guest house ASAP.

Mo’Nique Compares “Sellout” Steve Harvey to a House Slave After Heated On-Air Argument

Following Mo’Nique and Steve Harvey’s heated discussion on his talk show last week, the “Precious” actress kept that same energy on social media by sharing two videos accusing him of being a sellout.

Mo’Nique appeared on Harvey’s show last Wednesday (Feb. 13) and talked about being “blackballed” by Hollywood over accusations that she’s difficult to work with.

Harvey claimed Mo’Nique had “burned too many bridges” and said that she went about things the “wrong way,” citing the time she tried to organize a boycott against Netflix after she was offered $500k for a comedy special, while Amy Schumer was given $13 million by the streaming giant for hers.

“The two problems we had,” Harvey said, “No. 1, the boycott of Netflix, we never gave people a point of action … the second problem with me was that the problem you had with Netflix is rich people problems.”

Mo’Nique didn’t agree with Harvey’s sentiment. “Inequality is devastating and it’s extreme,” she said. “When people said, ‘Mo’Nique, do you think calling a boycott on Netflix is extreme?’ You’re damn right. Isn’t inequality extreme? We got to get to a place where we are unafraid to say it aloud.”

At one point during their back-and-forth, Steve told a clearly annoyed Mo’Nique: “This is the money game. This ain’t the black man’s game, this ain’t the white man’s game. This is the money game.”

After the tense on-air conversation aired, Mo’Nique shared two videos on Instagram aimed directly at the “Family Feud host.” The first, which she posted on Thursday, showed Muhammad Ali explaining why he would never “sell out” no matter how much money it may cost him.

“As of now, money means nothing to me, nor boxing, when it comes to the freedom of your people. So, everything I’m doing, if it means hitchhike tomorrow, if it means be raggedy, if it means looking for a job. I’ll be happy because I can go to bed, my conscience is clear, and I didn’t sell out or trade my people just because I can be rich in Hollywood with a yacht out here,” the boxing legend says in the video. “But I wouldn’t want that damned yacht if I couldn’t go back over in the black neighborhood and protest a black woman being raped. The hell with your yacht; the hell with the championship.”

The video was posted in a meme format with the title “Y’all Think Steve Harvey Need to Hear Title.”

Mo’Nique wrote in the post’s caption: “I JUST HAD TO REPOST THIS. THIS IS FOR ANYBODY PUTTING MONEY FIRST AND NOT THE LOVE OF YOUR PEOPLE. I LOVE US FOR REAL!!!!!!”

A second video Mo’Nique shared the next day shows the most tense part of her interview with Steve intertwined with a scene from “Roots,” basically comparing Harvey to the house slave in the film.

“[Master] can do anything he wants with you. Ain’t nothing you can do about it!” the man in the “Roots” scene says. “I’ve been scratching and scrambling most of my days to get where I got. Now, I eats in the big house kitchen. I got pine boards on the floor in my cabin. And it don’t take much coughing for the master to make me have a cup of corn whiskey for my medicine. Now, that is fine living for a ni**er and I’ll be damned if any African Guinea man is gonna make me lose all I’ve been working for.”

Above the video, also in meme format, reads the text: “Selling out. A common idiomatic pejorative expression for the compromising of a person’s integrity, morality, authenticity, or principles in exchange for personal gain, such as money. In terms of music or art, selling out is associated with attempts to tailor material to a mainstream or commercial audience.”

Mo’Nique said of the footage: “THIS GAVE ME CHILLS! WHAT HAS CHANGED!!! Y’all I LOVE US 4 REAL!!! WE DESERVE TO LOVE US BETTER!”

Do you agree with her?

Jussie Smollett Denies Paying Nigerian Brothers $3,500 to Beat Him Up, Says He’s “Angered” by Claims He Orchestrated Attack

Jussie Smollett is “angered and devastated” by reports that he paid two friends to help him stage his alleged hate crime attack in Chicago.

Over the weekend, reports emerged that law enforcement sources with knowledge of the investigation said that Chicago police believed the Empire star rehearsed the attack with the two Nigerian brothers who were arrested in connection with the attack and also paid them $3,500, promising them an additional $500 when they returned to the U.S. from a trip to Nigeria.

As we previously reported, the brothers—Abimbola “Abel” Osundairo and Olabinjo “Ola” Osundairo—are friends with Jussie, according to their lawyer, and have appeared as extras on Empire. One can be seen in the background of this screengrab from Season 2.

Police said the brothers are the shadowy figures captured by surveillance cameras the night Smollett says he was attacked. They were released from police custody Friday night (Feb. 15) after reportedly agreeing to cooperate with the investigation.

Chicago police said they were “eager” to re-interview Jussie Smollett in light of the claims he orchestrated his attack and after the brothers reportedly confirmed to them that they were paid for their services and rehearsed the attack with the Empire star.

But Jussie has so far stuck to his story. He was attacked and he had nothing to do with it, and he doesn’t appreciate claims that suggest otherwise.

The 36-year-old’s team of attorneys released the following statement:

“As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with. He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.

“One of these purported suspects was Jussie’s personal trainer who he hired to ready him physically for a music video. It is impossible to believe that this person could have played a role in the crime against Jussie or would falsely claim Jussie’s complicity.

“Jussie and his attorneys anticipate being further updated by the Chicago Police Department on the status of the investigation and will continue to cooperate. At the present time, Jussie and his attorneys have no inclination to respond to ‘unnamed’ sources inside of the investigation, but will continue discussions through official channels.”

Smollett told police he was attacked by the two masked men in Chicago around 2 a.m. on January 29th while he was walking to a Subway near his apartment. He said the men, who he believed were whit, yelled racial and homophobic slurs at him, poured a chemical believed to be bleach on him, put a rope around his neck and yelled “this is MAGA country!”

The day the Osundairo brothers were arrested, police raided their home and seized bleach, a “black facemask hat,” an Empire script, shoes, electronics, receipts, and other items.

“When the police came, I kept the clothes on. I kept the rope,” Smollett told Good Morning America‘s Robin Roberts in his first (and so far only) interview since the alleged attack. “I mean, it wasn’t like wrapped around, but yeah it was around because I wanted them to see. I wanted them to see what this was.”

Has Bow Wow Moved on From Kiyomi Leslie? Rapper Spotted With Mystery Girl in Atlanta (PHOTOS)

Is Bow Wow on the rebound from his relationship with Kiyomi Leslie?

The rapper was spotted out with a mystery girl at a party hosted by NBA star Lance Stephenson at Oak nightclub in Atlanta last Thursday night (Feb. 14), which just so happened to be Valentine’s Day.

It isn’t clear whether Bow Wow and the young lady arrived at the club together or if she’s someone he met there, but one thing we do know is that Mr. Shad Moss is clearly interested in moving on to the next one.

Bow and the mystery girl seem inseparable in the photos, as he clings to her and she holds on to his arm while dancing the night away and sipping on a bottle of Ciroc.

Bow Wow’s outing with the new girl comes a little over a month after his explosive confrontation with his ex-girlfriend Kiyomi Leslie that put the both of them in an Atlanta jail during Super Bowl weekend.

Initial reports said the police couldn’t determine who the main aggressor was, so they locked them both up, however, Bow Wow’s war wounds are clearly visible in the mugshots that were released.

Kiyomi (real name: Leslie Holden), meanwhile, appeared to be unscathed, however, she later said that sustained three broken ribs during the fight, and she told a 911 operator the rapper “was hitting me in places he said no one’s gonna believe.”

It’s a good thing Bow Wow is apparently moving on from Kiyomi Leslie, because regardless of who the aggressor in their big fight was, their relationship seemed hella toxic.
