T.I. Performs with Iggy Azalea at the 2014 BET Awards

Chris Rock introduced T.I. at the 2014 BET Awards as the one of the best rappers in the world, and he proved why he’s one of the best by killing it on stage with a hot performance of “No Mediocre,” featuring his newest Hustle Gang artist Iggy Azalea.

T.I. then left the stage to let Hustle Gang’s First Lady do a solo performance of her No. 1 hit single “Fancy.”

Afterward, she tweeted:

Jennifer Hudson “Walks It Out,” Debuts “It’s Your World” at the 2014 BET Awards

Following a hilariously true introduction from host Chris Rock — “The one thing she didn’t lose at Weight Watchers was her voice” — R&B diva Jennifer Hudson took to the 2014 BET Awards stage to perform “Walk It Out” and to debut her new disco-soul-inspired jam “It’s Your World,” the latter of which features R. Kelly, however he wasn’t there to join her.

Watch out TGT, there’s a new R&B trio in town!

After giving an emotional speech for his “Best New Artist” award, August Alsina hit the 2014 BET Awards stage to perform “Kissin’ On My Tattoos” and “I Luv This Shit.”

Alsina then surprised the BET Awards audience by bringing out Trey Songz (we guess the beef is officially squashed now?) and Chris Brown for the “ILTS” remix.

Afterwards, Trigga hugged and dapped up his R&B bros and remained on stage for a solo performance of his hit single “Na Na.”

Nicki Minaj Goes to Alice in Wonderland, Performs “Pills N Potions” at the 2014 BET Awards

Nicki Minaj opened up her 2014 BET Awards performance propped on a bike, spitting bars from “Chiraq” before falling into a rabbit hole and transforming the stage into a trippy set inspired by Alice in Wonderland (or Nicki in Wonderland?) — complete with a huge mushroom, a rabbit, and the Mad Hatter — for “Pills N Potions,” the first single from her upcoming album The Pink Print.

The two singers had perfect musical chemistry, with John on the piano, and Jhene’s soft vocals, which went great with Legend’s voice.

Rick Ross Arrested in North Carolina After Super Jam Concert Over Missed Court Date

Rick Ross may want to keep up with his courts dates … or avoid shows at the town he is wanted in.

“The Boss” rapper and lemon pepper wing connoisseur was arrested Friday night after performing at Super Jam 2014 in Greensboro, N.C.

A warrant had been out for Ross after he failed to appear in court for a marijuana arrest back in 2013 … and since the rapper happened to be in town, cops went ahead and locked him up.

Ross was cooperative with police and was released after posting bail.

Usher & Juicy J Show Love to the Strippers in “I Don’t Mind” (New Music)

Usher may have a hit on his hands.

The R&B crooner shows love to the strippers on his new single “I Don’t Mind” featuring Juicy J. The track has a way cooler vibe to it than “Good Kisser,” and actually doesn’t suck.

“Shawty, I don’t mind if you dance on s pole/ It don’t make you a ho,” he sings on the chorus.

Usher and Juicy J are both scheduled to perform tonight at the 2014 BET Awards.

Beyoncé & Jay Z Flashed Justin Bieber’s Mugshot on Stage, Because “Even the Greatest Can Fall”

During Wednesday night’s opening performance of Beyoncé & Jay Z‘s “On The Run Tour,” the couple showed several celebrity mugshots during Jay Z’s “Izzo.”

While Jay Z raps, you see mugshots on the huge screen behind him from fine folks like Bill Gates, Russell Brand, David Bowie, Jim Morrison, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Lil Kim and Tupac.

The music stops when Justin Bieber’s pops up. “Poof! Vamoose, son of a bitch,” rapped Jay Z with the Biebs’ mugshot behind him.

Several websites are reporting (via the UK’s Mirror) that Beyoncé told fans “even the greatest can fall,” but in the following video, Beyoncé isn’t even on stage. WHERE ARE THEY GETTING THIS INFO FROM?

“If You Think You’re Lonely Now” Singer Bobby Womack Dies at 70

The colorful and highly influential R&B singer-songwriter Bobby Womack died Friday (Jun 27) at the age of 70 years old.

Womack was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease two years ago and had been dealing with a number of various health issues, including colon cancer. He had performed just two short weeks ago at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee and seemed to be in good health and spirits.

The R&B legend’s publicist Sonya Kolowrat confirmed Friday that he died but didn’t prove any other details regarding his death.

Womack was born in Cleveland, Ohio and was raised in a musical and religious home with his four brothers, with whom he performed gospel music with as the Womack Brothers after their father took notice of Bobby’s guitar-playing talent.

The Womack Brothers were discovered by Sam Cooke in 1956 and they signed to Cooke’s SAR records four years later when Bobby was 16. They changed their name to The Valentinos and had their first hit “Lookin’ for a Love” in 1962.

In 1964, the group’s next hit “It’s All Over Now” would prove to be a major turning point for Bobby Womack, who at the urging of Sam Cooke, reluctantly let a then little-known British band called The Rolling Stones record the song, which resulted in the first No. 1 hit in the U.S. for the Rolling Stones, but it also meant that The Valentinos’ version would eventually fade out.

Cooke was shot in killed in December of that year, and Bobby used the success of “It’s All Over Now” as a path for him to branch out into his own solo act as a singer-songwriter.

“I know we outsang them on the song,” Womack told USA TODAY years later. “But when I saw the check, I was happy. I said, ‘Let me shut my mouth.’ It still takes care of me today. That’s when I said, ‘I’m going to be a songwriter.'”

Womack went on to pen songs for several high-profile artists, including George Benson (“Breezin”) and Janice Joplin (“Trust Me”).

In 1967, Womack released his first solo single “Trust Me,” and in 1972, his song “Across 110th Street” became one of his biggest solo hits … ut perhaps Womack is best known for his 1981 single “If You Think You’re Lonely Now,” which would go on to become an R&B classic.

Bobby Womack was formally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.

Erica Pinkett from “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” Attacked, Says The Bambi Put A Hit Out On Her

Uh-oh… There’s a ruckus in Momma Dee‘s palace!

According to TMZ, Erica Pinkett, an extra on VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta,” was “savagely attacked” in a nightclub (presumably in Atlanta?) earlier this month, and Pinkett believes that the hit was ordered by “a jealous rival on the show,” aka The Bambi.

Law enforcement sources tell us … Pinkett was coming out of a bathroom in Atlanta’s Taboo Club June 9 when a woman came up from behind her, hit her in the face and then threw her to the ground and slashed her arm with a razor blade. It was reported the gash spewed blood so badly, it looked like a scene from a horror movie.

Pinkett tells police … she thinks the attack was ordered by fellow “L&HH:A” star Bambi Johnson … because the two have had arguments over Pinkett’s relationship with Johnson’s boyfriend, Lil Scrappy. One of the fights (see video below) aired on the show.

The police report states that Stephanie Nicole Harp, the woman who attacked Erica, left the club before police arrived, but was arrested the next morning for committing aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Here is her mugshot:

The third season of “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” shows The Bambi and The Pinkett both vying for the attention of Momma Dee’s Prince of the South Lil Scrappy, which results in a brawl that happened at Scrappy’s birthday party.

The ladies also got into another altercation when The Pinkett threw a tray of food at The Bambi when the two were having a restaurant sit-down mediated by Momma Dee.

But The Bambi denies being involved with this latest incident.

“The recent rumors circulating are very disturbing, not to mention completely fabricated,” The Bambi said in a statement. “I feel it is necessary to make it clear to my supporters that I was not involved in any recent altercation, nor present at any venue in which an altercation occurred.”

Cementing their status as the first couple of “Hip Pop” music, the Carters delivered a flawless, entertaining two-and-a-half hour show, in which they performed over 40 songs, including their hit collabs “03 Bonnie & Clyde,” “Upgrade U,” “Crazy In Love,” and “Drunk In Love.”

Beyoncé & Jay Z Kick Off “On The Run Tour” at Miami’s Sun Life Stadium

Wednesday night (Jun 25) also marked the first time the superstar couple performed “Part II (On the Run),” and on some of Jay Z’s songs, Beyoncé sang the hook in replace of the original featured artist, like how she sung Justin Timberlake’s part on “Holy Grail” and Chris Martin’s part in “Forever Young.”

“Thank you, Mr. Carter,” Beyoncé said as the show ended. “Thank you, Ms. Carter,” Jay Z replied before they “escaped back to their bubble,” as NY Times writer Jon Caramanica put it.

We’ve already shared a bunch of photos and some video footage from opening night, but here’s a set of high quality photos from Beyoncé & Jay Z’s official websites:

Pregnant Kelly Rowland Shows Off Baby Bump at Beyoncé & Jay Z’s “On The Run” Tour Opener in Miami

Beyoncé and Jay Z kicked off their “On The Run” stadium tour at Miami’s massive Sun Life Stadium Wednesday night (June 25), and among the 70,000+ spectators in the crowd taking in the show was Bey’s BFF and Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland.

Rowland, who appeared alongside Beyoncé in Michelle Williams’ newly released “Say Yes” music video after cryptically announcing her pregnancy on Instagram, was spotted showing off her growing baby bump, rocking a white crop top and a tight pencil skirt.

Fans at the show snapped a few photos of the mom-to-be hanging out and greeting fans while watching the thrilling concert.

August Alsina Hangs from Noose in “FML” Video feat. Pusha T

August Alsina has finally released his controversial music video for “FML.”

Last month, the R&B singer left fans in shock when he Instagrammed a photo from the video, in which he hangs from the ceiling with a noose around his neck. But now it all seems to make sense.

In the video for “FML,” which stands for “F*ck My Life,” August and Pusha T (who is featured on track) both face death in different ways.

August uses the video to promote suicide awareness and spreads a positive message at the end.

“I’ve been where you are. Through the struggle and through the pain. It’s what makes us stronger than most. When there seems to be no way forward you have to make a way.”

Beyoncé & Jay Z Kick Off “On The Run Tour” at Miami’s Sun Life Stadium

The most anticipated tour of the summer kicked off in Miami last night!

After performing separately on their own successful solo tours, Beyoncé and Jay Z have teamed up for their co-headlining “On The Run Tour,” which was launched Wednesday night at Miami’s Sun Life Stadium.

Thousands of fans packed into the stadium — which has a concert seating capacity of over 80,000 — to watch Hip Hop’s most powerful couple run through 40+ songs during the two-and-a-half-hour show, which was inspired by their star-studded “Run” movie trailer.

According to our friends at Rap-Up.com:

A screen displayed “This is not real life” before the Carters emerged through the smoke.

“I need some gangster shit,” said Bey before launching into “’03 Bonnie & Clyde.” She donned a fishnet mask and leotard for the opening number, while Jay played her partner-in-crime in sunglasses and a black blazer.

They transitioned into “Upgrade U” and “Crazy in Love” and dueted on “Holy Grail” and “Young Forever.” Bey was fierce as ever in her many wardrobe changes including a multicolor Atelier Versace bodysuit, cut-out leotard, and Vrettos Vrettakos red crystal catsuit.

They also sprinkled in never-before-seen footage from their wedding (“Young Forever”) and Blue Ivy’s birth (“Halo”). Jay Z spit a new verse on “Partition,” while Bey covered Lauryn Hill’s “Ex-Factor.”

“We celebrate love tonight,” said Jay-Z before kissing his wife in one tender moment.

The Carters’ next stop will be at the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio Saturday (Jun 28), followed by concerts in Canada (Jul 9 in Toronto & Jul 27 in Winnipeg), Atlanta (Jul 15), Houston (Jul 18), Chicago (Jul 24) and L.A. (Aug 2).

Beyoncé & Jay Z’s “On The Run Tour” wraps up August 5th in San Francisco, California at the AT&T Park.
