Chris Brown Headed to Trial After Turning Down Plea Deal in D.C. Assault Case

Chris Brown could still face time in jail after the R&B singer rejected a plea deal in his Washington, D.C. assault case.

According to reports, Brown was offered a deal to plead guilty to simple assault and time served in his D.C. assault case, but the singer’s lawyer Mark Geragos and the prosecutor weren’t able to agree on what happened outside the W hotel the night of the alleged assault.

Geragos said after the hearing, “They wanted him to read from a script that wasn’t true.”

Chris was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault last October after he was accused of hitting a man who was trying to get in a photo with him.

Brown’s bodyguard Christopher Hollosy, who was also involved in the incident, has already been convicted of the assault.

If Brown had pleaded guilty to assault, he wouldn’t have to serve any additional jail time … but since he’s deciding to do otherwise, jail could still be a possibility.

His trial date is scheduled for September 8th, so he better keep his fingers crossed and enjoy the rest of the summer.

Prince Recorded A Rap Song with Rita Ora For His New Album

Is Prince giving rap a chance?

The rock legend recently invited Jon Bream from the Minnesota Star Tribune to preview a few new tracks off his upcoming album, and one of the songs that stuck out the most was a track Prince raps on featuring British singer Rita Ora.

The track was described as “a rare rap song on which the music was as aggressive and menacing as the rapping.”

According to the newspaper:

Prince talked about the urgency of releasing that tune because with Ora “time is money.” As a celebrity with lots of endorsements, she makes money walking out of the house wearing a certain kind of makeup or sunglasses, he explained.

Prince hasn’t revealed the album’s name or release date, but just know that it’s in the works!

Beyoncé and Jay Z kick off their joint “On the Run” summer tour in Miami tonight, and despite reportedly failing to sell out several shows, the reps for the duo claim the tour will be the second most successful tour of all time.

The superstar couple will tour together through September, and according to People, they will perform more than 40 songs a night, so obviously the superstar couple has been working around the clock to prepare for their concerts.

In celebration of their new song “Touchin, Lovin,” Trigga surprised Nicki with a studio full of pink roses.

Nicki posted this photo of Trey’s gift on Instagram and wrote in the caption:

“Walked into the studio to this. Whoa! U rlly shldnt have @treysongz. I’m playing, u should have. Lol. Listen to our song #TouchinLovin”

Trey also left Nicki this note telling her how proud he was of her, congratulating her on all of her success and expressing his love to her, to which she responded:

Teyana Taylor’s Audition Videos for Aaliyah Biopic Surface

Recording artist and Disney Channel star Zendaya Coleman was recently cast in the leading role of an upcoming Aaliyah biopic produced by Lifetime, and amid the backlash/criticism surrounding that, old videos have surfaced of actress/dancer/singer Teyana Taylor auditioning for the same role.

Dancer/choreographer TyronBee, a friend of Teyana’s, posted three clips from the 23-year-old’s audition on his Instagram. According to him, Teyana sent in her tapes for the role, but withdrew from the project after she found out the Haughton family wasn’t involved.

I know teyana is gona be mad at me for posting her audition clips but i honestly feel no one deserves this role more then her. She embraces Aaliyah dancing , acting and singing. (Which I’ll be posting all 3parts) but unfortunately @teyanataylor heard that Aaliyah’s family isn’t involved & she no longer wanted to be apart of the film.

Aaliyah’s family has already expressed their displeasure with the small scale nature of a “made-for-TV” movie and feel like she deserves the big-screen treatment, which is totally understandable.

According to TMZ, the late singer’s uncle and former manager Barry Hankerson is pissed that no one form the network contacted them about hte movie, and he says the Haughton family will block any attempt from Lifetime to use any of Aaliyah’s music.

While the family isn’t opposed to a big, theatrical film (with their involvement, of course), Hankerson said they have lawyered up and will do any and everything they can to block the TV movie’s release.

Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez Went To Bible Study Together, Were “Openly Affectionate”

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are reportedly back together, at least for now, and the on-again, off-again, back on-again, back off-again, then back on-again couple (they’ve been doing this since 2010, smh…) were spotted attending a bible study service at a church in Los Angeles last Wednesday (Jun 18).

According to an Us Weekly source, Jelena was very “openly affectionate” with each other while listening to a sermon by Pastor Judah Smith.

“They were very lovey-dovey and cute,” the insider says of the stars, who “came and left together with a few friends.”

According to the source, Bieber, 20, and Gomez, 21, “sat next to each other and listened to [Pastor Judah Smith]’s sermon.” The insider tells Us they were “smitten with each other.”

Bieber shared an Instagram snapshot from Smith’s teachings Wednesday evening. “Bible study with Judah Smith,” he wrote alongside a photo of the City Church pastor onstage. The insider notes how Bieber appeared to be in a significantly better place at the study session.

“He looks so happy and at peace,” the source says, while Gomez seemed similarly pleased and tranquil.

Both Bieber and Gomez turn to Smith regularly for guidance. Gomez shared an Instagram picture on Easter Sunday from Smith’s church, which she captioned: “He is risen, @judahsmith just thank you.”

Smith and Bieber first connected back in 2010, after the star attended a sermon with his mom Pattie Mallette. Speaking with Us in January, Smith described Bieber as “pretty sensational” and “serious about his faith.”

Last month, Justin Bieber was baptized in a friend’s bathtub in New York City after undergoing an “intense” Bible study with NYC Hillsong Hipster Pastor Carl Lentz.

The feel-good record, which features an EDM-inspired beat, centers around Christianity as an ode to Jesus and features solo vocals from all three women.

“It’s Destiny’s Child time again,” Beyoncé said. “This song is so inspiring and it’s not enough music out there like this and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

Michelle, whose new album Journey to Freedom drops September 9th, added, “We’re still loving each other, supporting each other. They have no idea what it means to me and I think it’s full circle. We’re still rocking it out.”

Kim Kardashian & Kanye West Throw “Kidchella” Party for Baby North’s First Birthday

No one remembers their first birthday. Most of us either had our first bday celebration at home around our aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, etc. (and friends of our parents’ kids — who we probably didn’t even really “know-know” yet lol), or even somewhere extravagant like Chuck E. Cheese’s.

But for the West-Kardashian crew, money is no object, so of course Kim & Kanye‘s daughter North West had a huge, over-the-top Coachella-themed party for kids appropriately called “Kidchella” for her first birthday.

The party was held in Nori’s Aunt Kourtney and Uncle Scott Disick‘s backyard and was attended by a number of celebs and their kids, including Ciara and Blac Chyna, as well as the Kardashian crew of course (Kendall, Kylie, grandma Kris Jenner, and Aunt Khloe).

Guests at the party were given decorative “Kidchella” wristbands upon entry and were welcomed to a ton of fun-filled activities, like karaoke, face-painting and a huge ferris wheel.

Lupita Nyong’o Lands First Vogue Magazine Cover; Talks Oscar Win, “Star Wars” and More

2014 has arguably been the best year ever for “12 Years A Slave” actress Lupita Nyong’o, who has so far won an Oscar, been named People magazine’s “Most Beautiful Woman in the World,” and now has landed her very first cover of fashion magazine staple Vogue, and we’re only six months into the year!

Nyong’o, 31, who recently confirmed that she’ll be appearing in the new “Star Wars Episode VII” movie, as well as a live-action version of The Jungle Book and a movie adaptation of the Chimamanda Adichie novel “Americanah,” wears Prada, Jonathan Saunders and Givenchy in the shoot for Vogue’s July 2014 issue and talks about her highly eventful year, which no doubt was capped off by that big Oscar win.

She says: “It just feels like the entertainment industry exploded into my life. People who seemed so distant all of a sudden were right in front of me and recognising me — before I recognised them!”

She also described her recent “very confusing, very numbing” Oscar win and how she felt when they said her name.

She says: ” I was just repeating my name in my head, so I didn’t know whether I had said my name or they had said my name! And then my little brother screamed, and time was suspended and it was just noise in my head.”

Lupita also referenced actress Jennifer Lawrence’s infamous fall(s) at the Oscars, as she tried not to follow suit.

“Don’t fall on those stairs,” she says she told herself. “It’s not cute if you follow Jennifer Lawrence — it’s not cute if you’re the second one!”

Twitter Reacts to Lebron James Opting to Become Free Agent

ESPN broke the news this morning that LeBron James‘ agent Rich Paul had informed the Miami Heat that their star player would exercise his early termination option to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

ESPN’s NBA Sportswriter Chris Broussard tweeted:

As ESPN points out, James opting out of his contract doesn’t necessarily mean he’s going to leave the Heat for another team. He’s just excercising his right to threaten to do so if the team doesn’t get their sh*t together, like building a better team around him, etc.

James had until June 30 to decide whether to opt out of the final two years of his contract with Miami. He was scheduled to make $20 million next season and had two years and about $42.7 million remaining on his deal.

“I was informed this morning of his intentions. We fully expected LeBron to opt out and exercise his free-agent rights, so this does not come as a surprise,” Heat president Pat Riley said in a statement. “As I said at the press conference last week, players have a right to free agency and, when they have these opportunities, the right to explore their options.

“The last four seasons have been historic, and LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Erik Spoelstra have led the Miami Heat to one of the most unprecedented runs in the history of the NBA. We look forward to sitting down with LeBron and his representatives and talking about our future together. At the moment, we are preparing for the opportunities in the draft and free agency as we continue with our goal of winning NBA championships.”

Of course this isn’t the first time this has happened, as James opted out of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2010 and actually left them for the Heat.

So naturally, Twitter is having one hell of a field day with their jokes/memes, suggesting that he might repeat the same thing all over again this year.

Migos Refuse to Cooperate with Police in Finding Fan’s Murderer

The Migos are reportedly not cooperating with police after a fan was killed at their concert nearly two weeks ago.

The victim Paris Brown was hit by a stray bullet intended for Migos group member Kiara Cephus a.k.a. Offset.

In surveillance footage, two men are spotted walking down a corridor with guns in their possession. They disappear for about 10 seconds and police say that’s when the murder took place. The men then return to camera view running back and still firing.

Police arrested Cory Marzette, who is known to be in the Migos’ rival group called 2G, who is believed to be behind the murder, however cops still haven’t been able to identify the second shooter.

Kiara Cephus a.k.a. Offset was questioned by police, but he seemed more interested in keeping his street cred than revealing any details on the murder. In other words, “no snitching.”

“We know he was there, however he would not cooperate with the investigation,” police said. “Obviously there’s a difference between entertainment, which is what these guys are affiliated with, and real-life violence and crime … We want to end this as quickly as we can.”

This isn’t the first time the Migos’ name have been brought up in a violent altercation. If you can recall, the group got into a shootout in Miami earlier this year, in which their tour bus was riddled with bullets and one of their bodyguard’s was shot in the leg.

Stevie J Tested Positive for Coke, Weed After Child Support Arrest

Stevie J will have to remain drug free from here on out … or else he’ll be sent directly to jail and will not be able to pass go or collect $200.

We already know the “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” star was arrested earlier this month for owing one of his baby mamas more than a million dollars in back child support.

But what we didn’t know was that during his arrest, he was drug tested, and cocaine and marijuana were both found in his system. Wow!

According to TMZ, Stevie appeared in court yesterday and has been ordered to submit to random drug testing.

We guess Mr. Steven Jordan has two choices at this point. He can either take care of his kids and stay clean, or go straight back to jail!

Bow Wow No Longer Wants To Be Bow Wow: “Call Me Shad Moss”

Bow Wow is changing his name because he finally realized that being a grown man named “Bow Wow” just isn’t going to cut it any longer.

The 27 year-old rapper/actor announced on Instagram that after this year’s BET Awards he will be going by his birth name Shad Moss.

“After BET awards i will no longer go by Bow Wow! Im going by my real name ‘Shad Moss.’ We made a lot of history as Bow Bow, now it’s time for the next chapter and challenge.”

Bow, who 12 years ago dropped the “Lil” from his name, went on to explain that his old name no longer fits who he is today:

“Bow wow does not fit who i am today. I’m a father, business man, TV host, Actor, and rapper! Time for MR Moss to take over.”

For those who don’t already know, the BET Awards will air June 29th. After that you can say goodbye to Bow Wow and hello to Shad Moss!

We don’t blame the guy for the name change though. Even Diddy had to change his name from Puff Daddy. It happens…
