Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz Drop Joint Project “ColleGrove”

After Kendrick Lamar pulled a Beyoncé last night and treated fans with a surprise album, 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne dropped their collaborative project ColleGrove.

The 12-track project (named after both rapper’s hometowns) includes their tracks “Rolls Royce Weather Every Day” and “Gotta Lotta,” which they recently performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Earlier this week, Kanye revealed the artwork for the album on Twitter.

Now clear your weekend, roll up some of that good stuff and listen to 2 Chainz and Weezy spit.

Kendrick Lamar Releases Surprise Album “Untitled Unmastered”

Kendrick Lamar has “pulled a Beyoncé” and released a surprise album!

Mere weeks after his noteworthy performance at the 2016 Grammy Awards, K.Dot has shocked us all with the release of an album (which he refers to as a “project”) called untitled unmastered, which is currently available on popular music services such as Apple Music (iTunes), Google Play, Spotify and TIDAL.

The seven-time Grammy Award winner tweeted a link to untitled unmastered a little after 11 pm Thursday night (Mar 3).

The project, Kendrick’s fourth album, which follows the rapper’s 2015 Grammy-winning album To Pimp a Butterfly, is comprised of eight “untitled” tracks (hence the name) that were apparently recorded between 2013 and 2016.

Last Tuesday, LeBron James tweeted at Top Dawg Entertainment CEO Anthony Tiffith to release the untitled Kendrick tracks, and it looks like TDE came through in a major way.

Here’s an interesting fact album the album: Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys’ five-year-old son Egypt produced the entire second half of “untitled 07,” which also reportedly features the youngin’s vocals.

“This is the best Dad moment everrrrr!!!” Swizz wrote on Instagram. “thx #Kendrick for investing in the future!!!”

Donald Trump Wants America to Know He Has a Big Dick

Just when you think you’ve seen and/or heard it all from Donald Trump, he goes and proves you absolutely wrong.

At the beginning of the Republican presidential debate tonight (Mar 3) in Detroit, Trump made it a point to address GOP candidate Marc Rubio teasing him for having small hands, implying that he has a small penis.

He held up his hands to the crowd and said:

“Look at those hands. Are they small hands? He referred to my hands, ‘If they’re small, something else must be small.’ I guarantee you there’s no problem. I guarantee.”

That Donald Trump. Always focusing on the bigger issues at hand.

Study: How #BlackLivesMatter Blew Up on Twitter

Black Lives Matter is now considered a major political force, but can you believe that it hasn’t even been two years since the protest movement began as a simple Twitter hashtag?

An interesting new study by a group of media scholars traces how #BlackLivesMatter exploded on Twitter between June 2014, right after the police killing of Eric Garner in New York City and May 2015, just after the protests over the killing of Freddie Gray at the hands of Baltimore police.

The researchers (Charlton McIlwain, Deen Freelon and Meredith Clark) reportedly spent a tremendous amount of time combing through millions of tweets and conducting dozens of interviews to come up with their theories on who led the conversations regarding the movement and how they were connected to each other.

Based on their research, they determined that there were six big “recurring communities” that regularly talked about police violence during the explosion of the #BlackLivesMatter movement:

  1. Black Lives Matter: movement activists and organizers who called for systemic change
  2. Anonymous and BiPartisan Report: left-leaning hacktivist collectives
  3. Black entertainers: celebrities who were vocally in support of the movement
  4. Mainstream news organizations covering the stories
  5. “Young black Twitter”: young black people discussing the news
  6. Conservatives who were vehemently in opposition to the movement

From there, the researchers studied the roles played by each group and the evolution of the conversation over time.

This is what they discovered (via NPR):

The researchers stress that Black Lives Matter, the diffuse political organization, is distinct from #BlackLivesMatter, the Twitter hashtag, although many of the organizers and activists use the hashtag as well. (It’s also worth noting that Black Lives Matter is the most well-known organization, but its name is often conflated with other groups with similar aims, like BYP100 and the Dream Defenders.)

The hashtag #BlackLivesMatter was created in July 2013, around the time of George Zimmerman’s acquittal in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. But the hashtag sat quietly for a long time: the month before Michael Brown’s shooting in early August 2014, it was only used a total of 48 times a day across Twitter. Freelon, one of the study’s authors, said it was being “kind of used in a generic way,” with mostly affirmative messages that weren’t necessarily even political.

Come August, though, the hashtag was used more than 52,000 times. And that was only the beginning.

“You can actually see the day it goes mainstream — Nov. 25, the day that the decision not to indict Darren Wilson came down,” Freelon told me. In the first 20 hours of that day, #blacklivesmatter was used on Twitter about 10,000 times. In the four hours of that day following the verdict, it was used 92,784 times.

“If you remember, there were a number of other hashtags that were jockeying for supremacy — #handsupdontshoot, #icantbreathe, #justiceforall,” Freelon said. There were also the hashtags made up of the names of individual people killed by police. “What’s interesting is the one that [won out] was the one that framed these stories in explicitly racial terms.”

Another fascinating tidbit: The prominence of the Michael Brown case, relative to some other stories of police violence, is somewhat counterintuitive. The incident that led to Eric Garner’s death was captured on video and took place in New York City, the nation’s largest media market, while Michael Brown’s death was in a tiny suburb in the Midwest. Yet, while #ericgarner was appended to about 4.3 million tweets in the study period, #ferguson showed up in 21.6 million tweets, and #michaelbrown/mikebrown was used in about 9.4 million.

The study goes on to describe how clusters of conservative Twitterers helped bolster the conversation, though their hashtags were a bit different (e.g. #pantsupdontloot).

It also talks about how even though you would expect mostly women to be the driving force of #BlackLives Matter, that’s actually not the case.

“If you look at the top 10 … it’s half activists … some media folks,” one of the study’s authors, Deen Freelon,  told NPR.

“You’ll notice that only one of them is a woman,” he said, referring to Johnetta Elzie, @Nettaaaaaaaa on Twitter, who was profiled in the New York Times and co-edits a prominent newsletter focused on race and policing.

Katt Williams Allegedly Robbed 5 Women at Gunpoint in Atlanta

What the f**k is going on with Katt Williams?!?

Before the troubled comedian was arrested in Georgia after punching a pool supply store employee in the face, he allegedly held five women in Atlanta at gunpoint and then robbed them.

Loletha Hale, an attorney representing four of the five women, held a press conference in front of Atlanta PD headquarters Wednesday afternoon (Mar 2).

KattWilliamsConference

According to Hale, Katt and a gang of 15 people (purportedly members of his entourage and security team) attacked and stole cellphones from five women visiting Atlanta for the weekend.

Hale also criticized Atlanta police for failing to adequately investigate the incident. “The police should have conducted a thorough investigation,” Hale said. “They should have retrieved these young ladies’ cellphones at the very least.”

More via AJC:

The alleged incident began about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, when Salena Boston and a group of friends spotted Williams walking near West Peachtree and 3rd streets, according to an Atlanta police report.

Boston said they approached the comedian, whose real name is Micah Williams, and he agreed to take a photo with them.

When one of the women with Boston began filming Williams, he got angry and started fighting them, according to the report. Boston told police Williams punched her, pointed a gun at the group and took the women’s cellphones at one point.

According to the police report, Williams refutes Boston’s account of what happened. He said the group of women started harassing, filming and taking pictures of him without his consent.

They then “became irate” and snatched a chain from his neck, which led Williams to start a fight with the group, according to the report.

His security team saw what was happening and allegedly approached the women. At one point in the incident, one of the women said “she was going to her car to get something to pop somebody,” Williams told police.

A member of Williams’ entourage then took a firearm out and sat it down on a concrete post, according to the report. Police later arrived and handcuffed Williams but made no arrests.

“Upon responding to the scene, the officers were not able to determine what occurred due to conflicting testimony by all parties and a lack of an independent witness,” Atlanta police Sgt. Warren Pickard said. “Based on the information they had in real time and the totality of the circumstances, the officer used their discretion to not arrest anyone on the scene.”

Pickard said the incident is still under investigation.

Mugshot Madness: Katt Williams Arrested in Georgia for Punching Employee at Pool Supply Store

Katt Williams is clearly off his meds again.

Remember at the end of 2012 when Katt went into full “cuckoo” mode, getting into bar fights, walking out of shows, attacking fans, and leading police on a high-speed tricycle chase (no, we aren’t making this up) before slapping a Target employee moments later who he claimed called him the N-word?

Or what about that one time he allegedly pulled a gun on actor Faizon Love and called him a snitch for speaking out about the incident? Yeah, Katt Williams has no chill at all … and apparently, he’s back on that bullshit again.

On Monday (Feb 29), the troubled comedian was arrested in Georgia for assaulting an employee at a pool supply store.

Katt allegedly got into a verbal altercation with the employee and threw a pair of goggles at him. Williams then went behind the counter and punched the employee, according to various reports.

Katt, who was said to be lying on the ground with his hands behind his back when police arrived, was charged with battery and released on $5,000 bond.

When TMZ caught up with him a day after his arrest, Katt didn’t deny punching the employee and said that the man called him the N-word “on the last day of Black History Month,” of all days.

Katt also said the employee tried to take his money without giving him the items he paid for.

Is it just us or does Katt’s story sound a lot like when he punched the worker at Target? Sounds like someone needs to be admitted to the nut house!

#WhereWasBLM: Where Was Black Lives Matter When This Stuff Happened?

Over the weekend, a writer who goes by the pseudonym Sister Toldjah took to Twitter to share an opinion article she wrote criticizing #BlackLivesMatter leaders and the movement in general for not responding to the murder of a 6-year-old boy named King Carter who was shot in killed in Miami.

In response to her piece, Black Twitter clapped back with the hashtag #WhereWasBLM, satirically highlighting the idiocy of Sister Toldjah’s opinion that “black-on-black crime” is a regular occurrence and #BlackLivesMatter leaders really don’t care about black lives because they fail to focus on every single incidence of violence that happens in the community.

Before #WhereWasBLM became a thing, Twitter user  (who birthed the hilarious hashtag) called out the foolishness of Sister Toldjah’s opinion piece in a series of tweets:

And from there, other Twitterers quickly caught on and joined the party:

It looks like #BlackLivesMatter has missed numerous incidents of “black-on-black violence” and they have some serious catching up to do, as most of these incidents happened in the 80’s/90’s and early 2000’s.

Chris Rock Brings Out Stacey Dash for Confusingly Awkward Black History Month “Joke” at the 2016 Oscars

Those who actually watched the 88th annual Academy Awards probably saw Stacey Dash waltz onto their screen, say some things, giggle and then walk off the stage in a confusingly awkward moment that likely left you wondering “Did that really just happen?”

Well, we’re here to tell you yes, that really did happen.

In one of the most confusing and awkward moments in award show history, 2016 Oscars host Chris Rock introduced Stacey Dash as the “director of our new minority outreach program” before the actress strutted on stage and wished everyone a “Happy Black History Month.”

Stacey Dash is known for her controversial opinions on race-related issues, like her stance on Black Lives Matter (she’s firmly on the “All Lives Matter” side, along with Kevin Gates) and her opinion that things for African Americans such as Black History Month and BET shouldn’t exist.

This is how Chris Rock and Stacey Dash’s “skit” played out (via Jezebel):

“It’s hard to get a job, and that’s the truth out there for black actors,” Rock began. “But let me tell you some good news: the Academy has taken steps to fix this problem, and that is why it is my honor to introduce the director of our minority outreach program. Please welcome Miss Stacey Dash!”

The silence was deafening.

She came onstage with a weird, villainous giggle, and said: “I cannot wait to help my people out. Happy Black History Month!” Then she giggled again, said “Thank you,” and walked offstage.

AWK-WARD!

Chrissy Teigen’s reaction face was the absolute best:

chrissy-teigen-face

The Weeknd’s reaction was pretty priceless too:

weeknd-oscars-laughing-stacey-dash

Shortly after exiting the stage, Stacey Dash published a lengthy blog post on Patheos.com titled “Who is Stacey Dash and why did she just walk across the #Oscar stage?” explaining her random as hell Oscars appearance:

You might be watching the Oscars and wondering why someone named Stacey Dash just walked across the stage. (Why was that funny anyway?)

Well, I’m Stacey – with an “e” – and it’s nice to meet you. I was born in the South Bronx, became an actress in Hollywood where I starred in the 1995 movie Clueless.

Since then, you won’t believe what happened. (Actually you can read the full story in my upcoming book There Goes My Social Life: From Clueless to Conservative.) Even though I voted for Obama during 2008 – even had a bumper sticker! – I didn’t make the same mistake twice. In 2012, I voted for Mitt Romney – and everyone freaked the hell out about it.

Why? Well, black people should support black candidates, I was told. But I’m not one to be told what to do. No matter my skin color, I was going to vote for the best candidate. Since I was blamed, mocked, and ridiculed in the press over supporting a Republican, I’ve spoken out about a LOT of stuff that black people try to stuff down my throat.

For example, I spoke out against Black History Month. ( Why should there be such a thing? Haven’t we had more than just one month’s worth of accomplishments? Here my thoughts HERE.) Plus, I spoke out against the #OscarsSoWhite controversy HERE. My take? We need to stop complaining about white people oppressing us, we shouldn’t boycott the Oscars, and we need to support Chris Rock the host.

Which brings me to the joke. When they added ME to increase the diversity, I’m sure many black people rolled their eyes. I’m not “black enough,” they say. But guess what? I’ve heard that all my life. I would rather be a free thinking, black than a cookie cutter black who thinks – and votes – just like all my friends.

Yes, I’m the actress from the South Bronx who has always dreamed of winning an Oscar. But God has a great sense of humor and this is my first encounter with one of my dreams of destiny. Bringing diversity to Hollywood… not merely because of color, but politics as well. (After all, different colors of skin is an easy kind of diversity. Ideological diversity is much harder, because it forces everyone to come face to face with actual beliefs. Hollywood needs BOTH.)

Anyway, this is a first. A beginning.

So that’s who I am. Nice to meet you.

Chris Rock Dissed Jada Pinkett Smith During Oscars 2016 Opening Monologue

Chris Rock hosted the 2016 Oscars Sunday night (Feb 28), and unsurprisingly, his opening monologue touched on the #OscarsSoWhite controversy and the celebrities who were boycotting the ceremony.

While Rock did mention a number of celebs who refused to attend the show, the brunt of his joke was directed towards Jada Pinkett Smith, who was very vocal about her boycott of the Academy Awards.

“What happened this year? People went nuts. Spike [Lee] got mad. Jada went mad. Will [Smith] went mad. Everyone went mad!” Rock said of the celebs protesting the Oscars. “Jada said she’s not coming. I was like, ‘isn’t she on a TV show?’ Jada’s gonna boycott the Oscars? Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties. I wasn’t invited!”

After the crowd laughed at Rock’s joke, he went on to say that he understood why Jada was so upset.

“Her man Will was not nominated for Concussion. I get it. You get mad. It’s not fair that Will was this good and didn’t get nominated. You’re right,” Rock said. “It’s also not fair that Will was paid $20 million for Wild Wild West!”

The 2016 Academy Awards marked the second time Chris Rock has hosted the annual ceremony.

Whoopi Goldberg Confused for Oprah on Oscars 2016 Red Carpet

Whoopi Goldberg, born Caryn Elaine Johnson, is an actress, comedian and TV host. Oprah Winfrey, born Orpah Gail Winfrey, is a media mogul, actress and TV host.

Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey starred alongside one another in the classic 1985 film The Color Purple, however, Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey are not the same person.

Beauty website Total Beauty seemed to be completely taken aback by the fact that Oprah arrived all tat-tat-tatted up on the red carpet of the 2016 Oscars.

Too bad that’s not Oprah though. IT’S CLEARLY WHOOPI GOLDBERG.

Once Total Beauty realized their mistake — after they were roasted on Twitter, of course — they deleted their tweet and posted this apology:

https://twitter.com/TotalBeauty/status/704113071116021760

How embarrassing!

You’re damn right there are no excuses, it’s good you realize that. Too bad the damage had already been done though.

Mind you, this happened smack dab in the middle of the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, which came about due to the lack of diversity in Hollywood and Oscar nominations.

Of course since this is the Internet, screenshots were taken (see above) and jokes were made:

The jokes even continued well into the ceremony…

The news got back to Oprah, and she and her BFF Gayle King’s daughter Kirby made light of the gaffe on Instagram:

We’ve gotta do better, you guys.

Aww: Look at the First Photo of Kim & Kanye’s Son Saint West

The first public photo of little Saint West, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s newborn son, is finally here, and he’s just as adorable as we imagined.

Nearly three months after giving birth to Saint, Kim Kardashian shared a photo of her baby boy Monday morning (Feb 22), which was her late father’s birthday.

She wrote on her website:

Today is my dad’s birthday. I know there’s nothing more in the world he would have wanted than to meet his grandchildren. So I wanted to share this pic of Saint with you all.

Saint West was born on December 5th, and Kim has shared a few glimpses of the little one here and there, however, this is the first time we have seen his cute little face, which is all Kanye. Kris Jenner wasn’t joking when she said Saint looked just like North.

Also worth mentioning is this photo Kim posted to Instagram showing Kanye and North knocked out in the middle of a baby store. How sweet!

Watch: Rich Homie Quan Sounds Absolutely Ridiculous in Tim Westwood Freestyle

Rich Homie Quan should stick to writing his rhymes on paper because the “Flex” rapper recently appeared on Tim Westwood TV and totally bombed during a freestyle session on the show.

Quan rapped/warbled over a number of beats (Bryson Tiller’s “Exchange,” Gucci Mane’s “Pillz,” Tupac’s “Ambition Az a Ridah,” and Nas’ “If I Ruled the World”) and sounded like pure DEATH during most of his 16 minute performance.

It was just a freestyle so we’re going to give Rich Homie a pass on this one, but we’ve heard crows do a better job at singing.

Woman Tries to Kill Barber After She Messed Up Her Own Haircut

This is beyond crazy. A California woman is facing attempted murder charges after she tried to kill her barber over a bad haircut that he didn’t even give her … which makes no sense what-so-ever, right?

After getting a Rihanna style cut and leaving a $20 tip, 29-year-old Adrian Blanche Swain returned to the barbershop hours later and fired three times at her barber, but the gun jammed.

The barber and another worker at the shop were able to tackle the woman to the ground before police arrived on the scene.

Police found razors in the woman’s car and it was determined that she had, for reasons unknown, shaved her own hair after getting a cut at the barbershop, leaving a bald spot in her head.

According to Fox 40:

Adrian Blanche Swain, 29, got a haircut around 9:30 a.m on Wednesday. She returned to the barber shop three hours later complaining about her haircut, San Diego police Sgt. Ray Battrick told KSWB.

The woman pulled out a gun, tried to pull the trigger three times, but the gun jammed, police said. “The gun had bullets but malfunctioned,” Battrick said.

The barber and another person wrestled the woman to the ground and were able to get the gun out of her hand, police said.

“She messed it up with some straight razors… she erased everything I did, messed it up with a razor took it all off… and then she came in and said ‘Look what you did to my hair!'” the barber told KSWB.

Swain was arrested and faces charges of attempted murder.

Wow. We’re not sure what kind of drugs this lady was on (or maybe she has mental issues?), but let’s just pray she gets the help that she needs.

Watch: Trina Gets Into Fight With Fan Outside Miami Nightclub

Trina doesn’t play any games when she feels disrespected, and the “F*ck Boy” rapper recently put the paws on a male fan who she felt was totally out of line outside of a Miami nightclub.

In the footage captured of the incident, Trina and the man go back and forth before she throws and lands a few punches as security tries to break things up.

“Take yo a** home with that bulls**t!” Trina shouts in the clip.

In the background, another man is also heard yelling “Don’t touch my cousin!” after Trina attacked the guy she was arguing with. We’re obviously guessing he wasn’t on the femcee’s side.

Rihanna stayed true to her word and released her “Work” video today, and she came through with not just one, but TWO videos!

The first video, which features unlimited steamy scenes between Drake and Rihanna takes place in a lit dancehall club with pot smokers, twerkers, and delicious-looking food being whipped up in the kitchen.

Both singers grind all over each other while the rest of the party dances the night away before the visuals switch to another full length video.

In the second video, RiRi and Drake take the fun back to a solo room where they get close and personal.

The chemistry between Drake and Rihanna is undeniable in both videos and just further proves why we think they would make a good couple. Maybe there’s still hope for these two.

Dada 5000 Went Into Cardiac Arrest After Kimbo Slice Fight

Dada 5000 collapsed in the ring over the weekend after barely getting touched by Kimbo Slice following a sluggish bout between the two MMA fighters.

Dada (real name: Dhafir Harris) was immediately placed on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital in Houston after receiving oxygen treatment at the Toyota Center, and according to recent reports, Harris’ troubles worsened from there.

According to Bleacher Report‘s Jeremy Botter, the fighter’s heart stopped temporarily Friday night (Feb 19) and he was placed on a ventilator while he was in the hospital.

https://twitter.com/jeremybotter/status/701137492980858881

A statement from the Harris’ family stated that he had apparently suffered “severe dehydration, fatigue and renal failure” due to high levels of potassium in his blood brought on by him losing 40 pounds just before the fight.

Harris is now in stable condition as he continues to recover at the hospital.

Here is the statement in full:

“The Harris Family would like to inform Dada’s friends and fans that Dada is ok and resting comfortably in a Houston area Hospital under the care of an incredible staff of doctors and nurses.

“The doctors have now informed us that Dada had accumulated extremely high levels of potassium in his blood which led to severe dehydration, fatigue and renal failure. The high potassium levels were likely caused by his 40lbs weight loss in preparation for the fight.

“Thanks to the EMTs and doctors, Dada is now recovering nicely.

“Dada showed the heart of a lion in the cage – not backing down throughout. He worked extremely hard preparing for the fight and stepped forward for 3 rounds against a tough veteran. He kept digging through the adversity- leaving it all in the cage for his fans and supporters. You can never take that away from him.

“We’d like to thank all those who have supported Dada as well as express our sincere appreciation to Scott Coker, and the good people at BELLATOR and Spike who have been on-site to visit Dada and support the family.

“We ask for the public and media to respect Dada’s privacy as he recovers.”

Jeb Bush Drops Out of GOP Presidential Race

Jeb!‘s attempt at becoming the next President of the United States is officially over.

Jeb!, who just so happens to be related to not just one but two former U.S. presidents with the last nam Bush, has dropped out of the Republican presidential race following an embarrassing loss in South Carolina to Donald Trump, who received more than 32% of primary votes.

Via AP:

A teary-eyed Bush says he’s proud of the campaign he ran to unify the country and advocate conservative solutions.

The son and brother of former presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush entered the race to huge expectations in June, and quickly fueled them with fundraising.

But he quickly slid in the polls behind some of his more outspoken Republican rivals such as billionaire businessman Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who have billed themselves as anti-establishment alternatives to the early front-runner.

Following disappointing performances in both Iowa and New Hampshire, Bush pinned his hopes on South Carolina, a state where the Bush name has maintained some clout. But Bush was unable to break into the top three in South Carolina. He would likely have faced pressure from GOP leaders and donors to drop out had he stayed in the race.

Aww. Poor Jeb!

Read Jeb!’s full concession speech (via TIME’s Philip Elliott) below:

When I began this journey in Miami, I committed that, I would campaign as I would serve, going everywhere, speaking to everyone, keeping my word, facing the issues without flinching, and staying true to what I believe. For the better part of a year, I have endeavored to do just exactly that. I have put forward a vision for America that includes all and includes all … because our country deserves a president for everyone. The presidency is bigger than any one person … and it is certainly bigger than any candidate. This is not, we’re different in our country because our head of state is not above us, but because the head of state, the people who aspire to the presidency are of the people. In a government “of the people, by the people, and for the people” we elect a president like us .. .imperfect under God’s watchful eye. I have had a front row seat to this office for much of my adult life. I have seen fallible men rise up to the challenges of our time, with humility, and clarity of purpose … to make our nation safer, stronger, and freer. I firmly believe the American people must entrust this office to someone who understands that whoever holds it is the servant, not the master. Someone who will commit to that service with honor and decency. Our next president will lead an extraordinary country, whose people have always made the improbable, possible … in ways big and small. Every day, Americans test the boundaries of freedom and achieve more than what they could have dreamed. But over the last seven years, our nation’s bright light has become little more than a flicker. We have retreated from the world stage. The American values that have brought peace and opportunity are fading. That is not the America we know and love. America is a country that thinks big, acts boldly and leads without apology. It will be up to the next president to restore that kind of leadership. I’m proud of the campaign that we have run to unify the country. And to advocate for conservative solutions that would give more Americans the opportunity to rise up and reach their God-given potential.

But the people of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina have spoken. I respect their decision. So, tonight, I am suspending my campaign. I congratulate my competitors, that are remaining on the island, on their success in a race that has been hard-fought, just as the contest for the presidency should be because it is a tough job . In this campaign I have stood my ground, refusing to bend with the political winds. We put forward detailed, innovative, conservative plans to address the mounting challenges that we face. Because despite what you may have heard. Ideas matter, policy matters. I truly hope that these ideas that we have laid out will serve as a blueprint for a generation of conservatives leaders at every level of government so that we can take back our country. We laid out plans on everything from reforming our tax and regulatory system, to reviving our economy, to rebuilding our military, to fixing the VA once and for all. Finally, I am grateful to Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, for his steadfast support and his amazing humor. He stole the line that I’m now saying which is that he has become a friend for life. I thank all of the Jeb alumni, many of them are here that have been going door-to-door all across the country, who put their lives on hold for this cause. To my mom and brother, who came here to South Carolina, America truly loves them and respects them and so do I. I want to thank all of my family, 2.0 is always back there in the back. To my dad, who has always served an inspiration to me and is the greatest man alive.

To the volunteers and supporters I have met along this incredible journey. And to all the fellow grinders” on our campaign, our staff who never ever gave up. I’ve had an incredib le life and for me, public service has been the highlight of my life. But no matter what the future holds, here’s the greatest safety landing if you can imagine, tonight I’m going to sleep next to my best friend and the love of my life. I am totally blessed to be the father of three extraordinary children and you might know, four near-perfect grandchildren. And I will be blessed to say I am living in the greatest country the world has ever known. I remain optimistic that, with the right kind leadership, that we all need to work to make sure happens, America’s best days are ahead. With strong conservative leadership, Republicans can win the White House, and we can get back to being in the verge of having the greatest time to be alive and that’s what I honestly believe and I know you do as well. I look forward to working you to make that dream come true. I will do it as a private citizen, just as you are. Thank you for the opportunity to run for the greatest office on the face of the earth. I love you all, God bless you.

5-Year-Old Girl Saved Her Blind Grandmother From a House Fire

A 5-year-old Louisiana girl is being praised as a hero after she used a lesson she learned at school to help save her and her blind grandmother from a house fire.

Back in October, Cloe Woods, a Pre-K student at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Kenner, Lousiana, went with her class on a field trip to the Kenner Fire Department, where they learned about fire safety.

“They talked to the kids saying if there was a fire you need to get out of the house,” her teacher, Brittany Gaillot, told WWLTV.

And it looks like Cloe was paying close attention too, because early Wednesday morning (Feb 17), while Cloe’s mother was out running an errand, the stove in their home caught fire and set off the smoke alarm, and little Cloe quickly sprang into action, saving her grandmother and herself from the fire.

Cloe’s mom, Shone Arceneaux-Woods, said Cloe hopped out of bed and instantly ran to her blind grandmother’s bedroom.

“She told my mom to hold her shoulder and that they had to get out of the house,” Arceneaux-Woods said, adding that her mom tried to stop and grab a pair of shoes, but Cloe told her, “Grandma, don’t worry about your shoes, the house is on fire.”

More via The Times-Picayune:

The fire broke out just before 7 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 17) at the Gerry Drive home that Cloe shared with her grandmother, Claudia Arceneaux, 76; her mother, Shone Arceneaux-Woods, 39; and her brother Koy Moore, 14. Arcenaux-Woods had just left the house to drop her son off a few blocks away for morning carpool to Jesuit High School.

“They were both asleep when I left,” Arceneaux-Woods said of Cloe and her mother. But Cloe woke when she heard their home’s blaring smoke detector and realized there was a fire in the house.

Cloe led the way out of the house, with her grandmother holding on to her shoulder and their dog, Coco, trailing behind them. She then ran to the homes of several nearby neighbors asking for help and a bucket of water.

She learned that, too, from firefighters during her visit to the station house. “They let us bring water,” she said, referring to the firefighters who allowed the students to handle a fire hose.

Arceneaux-Woods returned home within minutes to see her daughter dashing down the sidewalk and her mother holding on to a gate.

“I pushed the door open, and you couldn’t see,” Arceneaux-Woods said, describing the smoke billowing through the house. “It was pitch black and you could see flames towards the right side.”

The accidental fire started on the stove and caused smoke and water damage to the kitchen and living room, according to Hellmers. But thanks to Cloe’s actions, no one was injured.

Arceneaux-Woods said she realizes the fire could have taken a tragic turn if not for her daughter. “I’m proud of her. I consider her our little hero,” she said.

Kenner Fire Dept. Chief John Hellmers said that the fire easily could have turned tragic, but thanks to little Cloe, it didn’t.

“She saved her grandmothers’ life and saved her own life,” Hellmers said. “It’s remarkable that Cloe didn’t hide, but took action when she heard the smoke detector activate, alerting her grandmother and insisting they go outside.”

Cloe and her family have been temporarily located to a hotel for about a week, and her school has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help them “recover from the loss of their home and personal possessions.”

Flossie Dickey Gives Zero F**ks About Her 110th Birthday … Or This TV Interview

Washington state resident Flossie Dickey is 110 years old, so you’ll have to excuse her if she isn’t particularly interested in her birthday or the cameras you keep shoving in her face.

“Good Day Spokane” paid a visit to the Cheney Care Center in the state of Washington on Thursday (Feb 18) to interview Ms. Dickey on her 110th birthday, and it’s clear that the supercentenarian was not here for any of it.

From the New York Post:

“Are you excited for your party?” anchor Nichole Mischke asks Dickey as the senior sips coffee from a “Good Day Spokane” mug.

“Not one bit,” Dickey replies. Mischke also asks Dickey how she’s feeling on her birthday. “I am tired,” Dickey answers morosely. “I take a nap as many times as I can.”

Dickey has three children, 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. When asked what the secret to living such a long life is, Dickey says: “I don’t know, I don’t fight it. I live it.”

Dickey’s caregiver, Kris Bahr, joins the pair for the remainder of the segment. When asked what Dickey’s like, Bahr happily responds, “She’s a jokester. Her favorite thing, according to her family, is to sit down and have some whisky, straight up.”

So, according to Flossie Dickey, the secret to a long life is:

1.) Naps
2.) Don’t fight it. Live it.
3.) Drinking whiskey (straight up, of course)
4.) Being so low on f**ks to give that the amount of f**ks you have to give are well into the negatives.
