The fate of Lil Wayne‘s new “rock-inspired” album is very unclear, but that hasn’t stopped the New Orleans rapper from releasing his new music video for “On Fire,” the latest single from the album, titled Rebirth.

After being accidentally leaked by online retailer Amazon, news broke that the album might be getting pushed back for the millionth time, but according to Young Money’s Mack Maine, that’s only a rumor and the album will indeed hit stores in February (the 2nd to be exact) as planned. Mack said that the version of the album that was prematurely shipped to fans who pre-ordered the album isn’t the same version that will sit on music shelves come February, though he didn’t reveal exactly how different the “new version” will be.

Meanwhile, Illseed over at All Hip Hop is saying that sources are telling him that the album isn’t even coming out AT ALL!

I told you this one once in a rumor and I’m going to tell you again, because a source told ME. That pseudo rock album that Lil Wayne has been trying to force people to like ain’t coming out. I got this rumor last year and I was lucky enough to get it again. The Rebirth album’s not going to see the light of day. As you know, it has leaked in its totality. The label said that version of the album isn’t coming out anyway and a different version will come out in March 2010. I’m speculating here, but they may have a different, non-rock album on deck or something. But, my sources say the rock-with-autotune isn’t going to make it.

Ay-yi-yi! Guess we’ll have to wait until February comes to see what the real deal is. Honestly, we don’t even care about the damn album anymore and it’s probably best that they just scrap the project, move on to The Carter IV and put “Prom Queen” and “On Fire” on that. Anyway, check out Wayne’s new music Chris Robinson directed video after the break…
