Silly court hearing in Los Angeles. Amanda Bynes doesn’t have time for you. She’s too busy reinventing herself in New York City.
Unsurprisingly, Amanda Bynes skipped out on a mandatory court hearing in L.A. Monday (Sep 24) because “she has moved to New York indefinitely to start her fashion line,” a source close to the actress revealed to E! News.
Just last week, Amanda was telling People that she was doing “amazing,” despite recent news reports saying the contrary, and that she was a “retired actor” and planned on “moving to New York to launch [her] career.”
And it looks like Amanda was serious (or at least as serious as someone in Amanda’s mental state can be), because she was not present for her court hearing in L.A., even though a judge urged the actress to appear.
Though Amanda wasn’t legally required to attend the hearing, it probably would have helped her case just a little if she had.
Her poor attorney Richard Hutton had to explain that horrendous driving record of hers — speeding tickets, DUIs, hit-and-runs, driving without her headlights on, you name it — all on his own, while she was busy “launching her career” over 3,000 miles away.
The outcome of Monday’s hearing won’t be revealed for another two weeks, and Amanda has another hearing scheduled for Thursday (Sep 27) for her hit-and-run chargeS (yes, she has more than one, hence the “S” in charges).
Because the case is a misdemeanor, Amanda’s presence isn’t required for Thursday’s hearing, which means that she will probably be way too busy launching her career in New York to attend that one too.
If convicted, Bynes faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail and/or a $1,000 fine for each her misdemeanor hit and run charges (stemming from two totally separate incidents) … which means that she could be jailed for up to two years and/or she could face a $2,000 fine.
