VH1 has announced that they will be pulling Chad Johnson and Evelyn Lozada‘s upcoming reality series “Ev & Ocho“ from their fall line-up in light of Chad’s recent domestic violence arrest.
The network said in a statement Monday (Aug 13):
“Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series ‘Ev and Ocho’ from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it.”
As you’re probably well aware by now, unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few days, NFL star Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson was arrested and booked on criminal domestic violence charges Saturday night (Aug 11) after he got into an altercation with his new wife Evelyn Lozada that turned physical.
Lozada, who stars on VH1’s hit reality show “Basketball Wives,” received a pretty bad cut to her forehead (as the result of Chad allegedly head butting her), which sent her to the hospital, where she remained for several hours as she was treated for her injuries.
In addition to their reality show being cancelled, Chad is personally looking at fines and time behind bars. He was also reportedly cut from the Miami Dolphins just hours after he was released from the Broward County Jail on $2,500 bond.
Sources say that the veteran player had a meeting with Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin on Sunday (Aug 12), and that’s when he found out that he had been cut from the team.
