Michael Turner — a running back for the Atlanta Falcons — got a little carried away after celebrating his team’s win against the Denver Broncos, and was arrested for DUI the next morning.
According to TMZ, just hours after Turner helped his team defeat Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos Monday night, the NFL player (who scored a touchdown and rushed for 42 yards) was pulled over by Atlanta police in his black Audi R8 at around 4:06 AM Tuesday morning (Sep 18) for going 97 mph in a 65 mph zone.
Officers say they believed Michael was under the influence of alcohol when they stopped him, and they arrested the 30-year-old on the spot for DUI after he refused to submit to a breathalyzer test.
Turner — who is in the 5th year of a 6-year contract worth $34 million — was taken to Gwinnett County Jail, and was released two hours later on $2,179 bond.
After news broke of Turner’s arrest, the Falcons released a statement saying, “We are aware of the situation involving Michael and are in the process of gathering more information. Because this is now a legal matter, the club will have no further comment at this time.”
