A 20-year-old Irishman had a $200,000 lunch — and now he might have to pay.
Security personal at a Sao Paulo, Brazil airport on Monday detained a nervous traveler later allegedly found to be smuggling approximately 72 bags of cocaine in his stomach, the Irish independent reports.
Authorities with the Brazilian Federal Police released x-ray images of the suspect, identified only as F.B.B., which appear to show his belly full of drugs. The nearly two-pound stash of coke is estimated to be worth $200,000.
Police said the man was boarding a flight to Lisbon en route to Brussels. Instead of making the trip, authorities escorted the man to a nearby hospital where the capsules were removed, MSNBC reports.
The suspect is charged with international drug trafficking and could face up to 15 years in prison.
911 is a powerful tool. It does this really neat thing where when you use any type of phone to dial the numbers 9-1-1, a nice person on the other end of the line answers and helps you sort out major life problems by sending appropriate responders (either EMS, firefighters or police) to wherever you are.
But just like any “powerful tool,” 911 sometimes gets abused, and it’s usually by really drunk people, like this cool guy named Terry Lynn Kimbell, who called the cops on Taco Bell after employees refused to serve him at the the drive-through window … because he had no car!
A man from Florida opened fire in the middle of a church’s prayer service Sunday morning (Sep 18) and shot the pastor right in the head as he prayed … just moments after he MURDERED his wife back at home!
And get this. Turns out … this guy was also convicted of “accidentally” killing his first wife 25 years ago!
A gunman who allegedly killed his wife and shot two pastors in a church on Sunday killed his previous wife 25 years ago, court records have revealed.
Jeremiah Fogle, 57, was tackled by people attending a prayer service in Lakeland, Florida yesterday, who took his .32-calibre revolver and held him down. Pastor William Boss was shot in the head as he prayed. Associate pastor Carl Stewart was shot in the shoulder, head and back, authorities said.
Fogle and his wife Theresa Brown Fogle, 56, married in 2002 and once attended Greater Faith Christian Center Church as members. But they had not been for several years and had started their own ministry out of their house, regularly hosting their own Sunday services.
Today it has been revealed he pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of his wife, Diane, but was only sentenced to 10 years’ probation in 1987. He allegedly answered the door with a rifle and showed a police officer her body in 1986. Prosecutors reduced the charge from first-degree murder. He handled the rifle in a ‘negligent, careless and reckless manner,’ authorities said at the time. It’s not known why the charge was lessened.
On Sunday, Mrs Fogle’s husband had allegedly walked to the church from their home nearby. She was later found dead in the living room by officials.
He entered through the front door of Greater Faith Christian Center Church, walked down the centre aisle and shot the men, police said. Fogle was then allegedly restrained by other parishioners until authorities arrived. No other church members were injured. He had six live rounds in his pocket and was prepared to shoot even more before he was tackled by ‘heroes’, Sheriff Grady Judd said.
We don’t know exactly why he went in to this mad rage,’ he added. ‘He was focused on killing his wife and certainly meant to kill the pastor and assistant pastor,’ he told the Orlando Sentinel. The pastor and associate pastor were in a critical but stable condition and were being treated for their injuries at a local hospital.
Authorities took Fogle into custody on charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder. They were investigating to determine his motive. During a hearing on Monday, Fogle was charged with murder and attempted murder after the shootings. He was ordered to be held without bond.
The couple ran a transportation firm and his wife had nursed him back to health after he had back surgery, Mrs Fogle’s sister Maria Beauford said. ‘We have no idea what his motive was,’ Ms Beauford said. ‘We just have no idea.’
Fogle was known as a community man and could often be seen in his home’s front garden with his wife.
Jeremiah Fogle’s older brother, Collis Fogle Jr, added: ‘It’s so sad. I’ve been trying to call to figure out what went wrong.’ Authorities said Fogle ran through the church doors after a morning service had wrapped up and just before another daily service.
The red-brick building also serves as a school and sits across from a mobile home park. Several police cars and tape blocked off the church. Fogle had a white bandage around his head on Sunday night and was led to a patrol car, refusing to speak with television reporters. ‘Of all the places you should be safe, you should be safe in a house of worship,’ Sheriff Judd said. ‘Especially on a Sunday morning.’ Fogle is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Monday.

A former Fox Valley Technical College student who spiked her roommate’s water with eye drops as a prank will spend time in jail — a sentence the judge hopes will serve as a wake-up call.
Winnebago County Judge Barbara Key withheld a sentence Wednesday and placed Luciana Reichel, 22, on probation for 30 months for a felony conviction of placing foreign objects in edibles. Key also ordered the Oshkosh woman to serve 90 days in jail.
While Reichel had no previous criminal record, Key said a lengthy history of lying and manipulation, in addition to her alcohol issues, and the severity of putting eye drops into her roommate’s water, were concerning.
“This may seem harsh, but what you did was very serious,” Key said. “And you need to understand there are very serious consequences for your behavior and you can’t just slide by on this.”
According to the criminal complaint, Reichel was a Fox Valley Technical College student who was living in a University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh dormitory with the victim when she placed Visine in her roommate’s water bottle on several occasions in October 2010 to make the woman sick.
The roommate told police she went to a doctor complaining of nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite and fatigue. The doctor was unable to determine the cause of her symptoms.
Reichel told another woman she had spiked her roommate’s water with Visine as a prank. That woman told the victim, who called police.
Reichel told police she got the idea from the movie “Wedding Crashers.”
Reichel told the court she had a drinking problem at the time the incident occurred, but she has been receiving treatment. She also said she was ready to face the consequences of her actions.
But Key said solely addressing the alcohol issue was not enough. She said Reichel had a history of lying and being manipulative dating back to when she was young and those issues need to be addressed.
Key also ordered Reichel, who noted she would like to pursue a career in nursing, to not hold a job in the health care field while she is on probation.

It’s no secret that the recent economic downturn has forced a lot of companies to be a little more creative than usual in recouping lost funds. But now they’re just getting ridiculous.
Citigroup Inc. says that they are planning on charging their customers a monthly $10 fee (up from $8) if their checking and savings accounts combined don’t total up to at least $1,500:
Citibank is raising the monthly fee on its basic checking account.
The new fee will be $10, up from the previous $8. Customers can avoid the fee if they maintain a balance of at least $1,500 or set up direct deposit and online bill pay.
The bank also says it will no longer give rewards points for debit card transactions. But customers will be able to earn more points each year by opening a savings account or activating an automatic savings feature.
The changes reflect a broader industry push to deep relationships with customers. Banks have been hiking fees and scaling back rewards in the past year, but they’ve also been offering incentives for those who sign up for more services.

Ron Artest‘s name change to “Metta World Peace” has been approved!
Three weeks after his bid was blocked because of unpaid traffic tickets, a court commissioner granted the Los Angeles Lakers player’s request to officially change his name from “Ron Artest” to “Metta World Peace” (First Name: Metta, Last Name: World Peace.)
His publicist Courtney Barnes said the NBA player chose the name Metta because it is a traditional Buddhist word that means loving and kindness toward all.
“Changing my name was meant to inspire and bring youth together all around the world,” Metta World Peace said in a statement released after the hearing. “After this short delay, my tickets have been paid and I’m glad that it is now official.”
Ron Artest Metta World Peace (This is gonna take some getting used to!) first requested the change back in June, citing only personal reasons.
He is scheduled to appear on the next season of “Dancing With the Stars,” which premieres tonight on ABC!

In what many are considering a “controversial win,” pro boxer Floyd Mayweather claimed the WBC welterweight title after (literally) knocking Victor OrtizOUT at the end of the fourth round of the big Mayweather vs. Ortiz fight in Las Vegas Saturday night (Sep 17).
After a quiet opening, the fight burst into life in the fourth round with Ortiz getting Mayweather on the ropes without quite being able to find a decisive blow. Just before the bell Ortiz had Mayweather on the ropes for a third time, only to be penalized for a head-butt.
The 24-year-old then seemed to be apologizing and was not protecting himself as Mayweather landed two punches – the second a big right hand – to end the fight. [DM]
Immediately after the fight, Mayweather got into another fight — a non-physical one, of course — with HBO reporter Larry Merchant after Merchant tried to press the championship boxer about his controversial victory.
“You never give me a fair shake. HBO needs to fire you, you don’t know sh*t about boxing! You ain’t sh*t!” Mayweather shouted at the 80-year-old HBO sports commentator, who responded back by saying “I wish I was 50 years younger and I’d kick your ass!” with a smart chuckle.
Speaking at a press conference following the fight, Mayweather continued to explain his side of the story.
“I was always told to protect yourself at all times,” he said. “My mouth was split open. I said keep it clean. Once you touch gloves, it is go time. We came together to fight. It is fight time.”
He continued, “You want to do me dirty and then two minutes later you want to be my friend? This is the hurting business. Without the fourth round, he was going to get knocked out anyway. I was fighting stronger. I was keeping my composure and sticking to the game plan.”
“Floyd Mayweather isn’t ducking and dodging anybody. If he wants it, he can have a rematch,” Mayweather confidently stated, offering a rematch.
For his part, Ortiz said of headbutting his opponent Floyd Mayweather: “I fouled Floyd, I apologised in the ring and apologised after the fight as well. I would really like the rematch. I thought the ref (Joe Cortez) called a break and I am pretty sure he did and then I was like ‘whoa, whoa,’ and then I woke up after.”
After this weekend’s win in Las Vegas, Floyd Mayweather currently holds an unbeaten record of 42 fights.
