MARY J. BLIGE & JAY-Z SUED OVER HIT SONG » R&B soul singer Mary J. Blige and long-time rapper friend Jay-Z are being sued over Mary J’s hit single, “Enough Cryin'” According to the federal lawsuit, which involves allegations of song theft, Jermaine Jumpp and MIchael C. Adams claim they dropped off a CD at Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins’ office, and that CD had a song on it caleld “On My Grind.”
Despite not hearing back from the megaproducer, they say the track appeared on Mary J. Blige’s album, The Breakthrough, as a song titled “Enough Cryin’.” The song, which was produced by Darkchild, later went on to become a single and had a fairly successful run on the Billboard charts. Adams and Jumpp claim MJB’s song sounds awfully familiar to their “On My Grind” song.
No amount in damages has been specified, but the duo is likely to request something to the tune of millions of dollars since the album went multi-platinum. Jay-Z wasn’t featured on the track vocally, but he received album credit as the co-writer of the song. No trial date has been announced yet.

BRAVO’S REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA RENEWED FOR SECOND SEASON » Bravo’s hit reality series, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” has been renewed for a second season. The show followed the lives of five “wealthy” women living in Atlanta, and was very popular among adults aged 18 – 49. It averaged 1.5 million views over the entire first season, according to Variety.com.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta is a part of Bravo’s “Real Housewives” franchise, and received higher ratings than any of the “Orange County” seasons or the “New York” season. The Atlanta season’s reunion special also produced the most number of viewers of a single episode in the history of the entire “Real Housewives” franchise, with nearly 3 million total viewers.
No word yet on when the season will premiere, but we do know the Leakes’ will have a ton of explaining to do. Especially after all of that digging Faux (Fox) News did. Racist bastards…
[NEWS ROUND-UP] Akon Charged in Fan Tossing Incident // Michael Vick Moving into Halfway House // Soulja Boy Cartoon Coming Soon
AKON PLEADS GUILTY IN FAN TOSSING INCIDENT » Singer Akon, and owner of Konvict Musik, reportedly pleaded guilty to harassment last week for tossing a fan from the stage during a concert last summer in Fishkill, New York. He accepted a plea deal in which he will serve zero hours behind bars, but he must perform 65 hours of community service, in addition to paying a $250 fine.
During a June 2007 concert in the small town of Fishkill, NY, the “Right Now (Na Na Na)” singer threw the boy off the stage, as in literally picked him up in the air, and threw him into the audience, after he had apparently thrown something at the 35-year-old singer. A woman in the crowd claims she suffered a concussion when the teen landed on her. The incident hit Youtube and subsequently every major website on the planet.
After accepting the plea, Akon shook hands with 16-year-old Anthony Smith, the guy he threw in the crowd, apologizing to him and his parents. Akon’s lawyer released the following statement:
“We are pleased that the case has been resolved and Akon looks forward to putting this unfortunate incident behind him.”
Akon’s original charges included minor second-degree harassment and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a minor.

Eartha Kitt Dies at 81
Some sad news hit the entertainment industry on Christmas Day. A family spokesperson alerted the media, saying that sultry singer, dancer and actress Eartha Kitt died on December 25th 2008 at a hospital in New York, where she was being treated for colon cancer.
Groundbreaking actress and the sultry singer of the stylishly sexy Christmas standard “Santa Baby,” Eartha Kitt, died on Christmas Day in New
York City, her publicist confirmed to CNN. Kitt, 81, had been treated for colon cancer. Her daughter Kitt Shapiro was by her side at the time of her death.Known primarily for singing in her distinctively raspy voice and purring like a cat as Catwoman on the ’60s TV series Batman, Kitt was a star of stage, the small and big screen and music. She was nominated for three Tony awards, two Grammy awards and two Emmys, according to her official Web site. A performer to the very end, Kitt taped a PBS special in Chicago six weeks ago that is set to air in February, CNN reports.

CHRISTMAS DAY SPECIAL RECAP: Los Angeles Lakers Vs. Boston Celtics
The rematch we’ve all been waiting for is finally here and under our christmas tree. My wish has come true. The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics at home in the Staples Center. It’s been a great Christmas in the NBA. The Lakers has ended the 19 straight game winning streak the Celtics once held, shattering their high record. The star of the game, Kobe Bryant finished with 27 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. The Lakers won by a 9 point lead (92-83). Sasha Vujajcic, who scored 10 points, claims he doesn’t like the Celtics … period.
“We’ve been waiting for that opportunity for a long time, and we won,” Vujacic said, “I don’t like them at all. A lot of people called us softies or whatever. It doesn’t matter at all. We know what we can do.”
Dwyane Wade Grants Christmas Wish

Dwyane Wade brought real Christmas joy and hope to a local Miami family whose house had been accidentally torched by a South Florida woman’s nephew. Most, if not all, of their possessions were destroyed in the fire. Ironically, Wade, the Miami’s Heat Guard, decided he had to help this family out with not only shelter but a huge Christmas wish … a home. Along with the home, Wade furnished the house, replaced clothing and even a few gifts under the tree. Wade spoke about the teachings that can be greater than just materialism.
“That’s what I try to teach my kids,” Wade continued. “It’s not about what you’re going to receive – It’s what you can give others from what you’ve recieved.”
It’s always good to see that successful celebrities have huge bank accounts and even bigger hearts.
