In what started out as an unconfirmed rumor, we can now officially report that young rapper Soulja Boy was actually robbed at gunpoint outside of his Georgia home last week following the release party for his sophomore album, iSouljaBoyTellem. Rumors began to circulate across the internet that the 18-year-old rapper, who recently released a video stating that he believes Nas killed hip-hop, and members of his entourage were assaulted and robbed at gunpoint last Tuesday night (Dec. 30th) after six unnamed men invaded his home.
The next day, a video was leaked to the internet featuring two masked men who claimed responsibility for the attack. In the video, the two guys bragged about how they followed Soulja Boy from his album release party, which was held on December 30, 2008. They also cleared up some misconceptions about the robbery, stating that instead of six people being armed with pistols and AK-47s, the crime was completed between the two of them, using only one lone weapon.
But of course, the fans and the media blew the video off, marking it as a rumor. However, a rep from Soulja Boy’s camp confirmed the incident to AllHipHop.com, stating that it actually did take place, but provided no further details. The only information they provided to the popular hip-hop news site was that the crime was “a serious situation.”

Rapper/singer/actress Queen Latifah was robbed last Monday (Dec. 29th), and thieves stole over $10,000 worth of jewelry from her luxury villa in Tobago. Investigators believe the theft was an inside job and may have been committed by a member of the house and grounds staff at Stone Haven Villas in Black Rock Tobago.
According to reports published by Trinidad and Tobago’s newsday, investigators said there was no forced entry into the villa, where the Oscar nominated actress was staying for Christmas with a female friend. Queen was reportedly upset over the incident, stating that the jewelry had sentimental value and that she was willing to offer whoever returns it a reward.
Good help is hard to find these days… You can’t even trust paid security guards anymore.

Oscar-nominated actor John Travolta and his family suffered a major loss Friday, January 2nd 2009, when his teenage son died after a seizure while on a family vacation in the Bahamas. 16-year-old Jett Travolta, who had a history of seizures, had an episode on Friday morning. According to reports published by CNN, he died on the scene, and all attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
According to sources, Jett was last seen going into the bathroom at the family’s private suite at the Old Behama Bay Resort. The caretaker, Jeff Michael Kathrein, discovered Jett’s body, and a police spokeswoman later confirmed that Jett hit his head in a bathtub.

According to People.com, rapper/producer Dr. Dre’s son, Andre Young Jr, apparently died of an heroin & morphine overdose. The drug test results had been pending for four months and it has now been confirmed by the LA County Coroner’s office on Friday.
“This case has been closed, it’s been ruled an accident due to morphine and heroin intoxication,” coroner spokesman Larry Dietz told People.
On the morning of August 23, 2008, Andre, 20, was found unresponsive by his mother in their home located in Woodland Hills, CA. Paramedics pronounced Young dead at the scene. His mother Jenita Porter told investigators that her son had been out late that night with his friends and recalls hearing him snoring around 5:30 a.m.
Someone please tell right wing and controversial political commenter Ann Coulter to stop drinking on that “hatorade” because it’s definitely not a good look for her. Apparently she’s been saying some not so nice things about President-elect Barack Obama’s wife Michelle Obama. According to her latest book which is said to be published next week, titled “Guilty: Liberal ‘Victims’ and their Assault on America,” she accuses the liberal left of playing the victims when in fact of course they are the victimizers.
But wait … the fun doesn’t stop there. She then goes on to bash Mrs. Obama about her choice of style in which she says she is an imitation of Jackie O’s personal style. Jackie O was the first lady and wife of President John F. Kennedy.
Coulter wrote, “Her obvious imitation of Jackie O’s style – the flipped-under hair, the sleeveless A-line dresses, the short strands of fake pearls – would have been laughable if done by anyone other than a media-designated saint.”
Married couple Usher Raymond and Tameka Foster celebrated the New Year with a big party at The Bank in Las Vegas, NV. My only question is … who was at home with the newborn baby? Better luck next time Beyonce! Sources are reporting that Jennifer Hudson is being courted to perform at the swearing in of President-elect Barack Obama which will take place on January 20th, 2009. If in fact she does choose to perform during the ceremony this will be her first appearance since the brutal murders of her mother, brother, and nephew back in October of last year.
“Organizers want Jennifer to sing ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ at the Inauguration on Jan. 20,” a source told Page Six. “They are talking to Jennifer about it. It would be the first time she performed since the murders. She is from Chicago and a huge Obama supporter.”
Jennifer also sang the National Anthem at the Democratic National Convention in Denver in August.
I hope Jennifer does decide to do the honors at the inauguration. Who would want to miss the chance to become a part of such an historical event?!
Your boy DMX didn’t really have a good 2008. On December 30th 2008, in a Maricopa, Arizona courthouse, he plead guilty, guilty, guilty and guilty! And no, that is NOT a typo. He really did have a court hearing for four different charges in one day, and plead guilty to all of them, in true DMX fashion. According to Associated Press, the rapper reached a plea deal agreement that will allow him to accept a guilty plea on one count of animal cruelty, one count of theft and one count of felony possession of marijuana and a narcotic drug.
He isn’t due for sentencing until January 30th 2009, but the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office says X is expected to receive a minimum 90 days in jail and will receive no credit for time served. Once he gets out, he will be on probation, and if he violates his probation, he could get more than 10 years behind bars. In addition to staying off of drugs while on probation, he’s not allowed to own pets or firearms. The pets and firearms thing sounds pretty plausible, but staying clean? Unless he gets some serious help, home boy just might be serving that 10-year sentence VERY soon.
In a recent interview with GQ Magazine, rapper Lil Wayne said what the world would be like if he ruled it. Apparently he loves education … and polygamy.
“First of all, I already know, men would be able to marry however many women they want. School would not be optional. It would be mandatory. Because I do not like unintelligent people – it’s a pet peeve. If you dumb, you not around me. Other than that, did I mention the men would be able to marry women? Ain’t no limit on that.”

He’s a rapper, he once owned a clothing line (Rocawear), he has a few nightclubs (in Vegas, NY and Atlantic city), and he’s recently launched “9IX,” a fragrance for men by Rocawear. But due to the poor state of the country’s economy, rapper Jay-Z‘s next money-making venture has been put on hold, according to reports published by the New York Times.
The mogul’s planned hotel venture, J Hotels, was scheduled to break ground this year, but unfortunately, it has been postponed indefinitely, in conjunction with New York’s real estate development market taking a heavy hit. The hotel acquired a $66 million mid-block parcel in Chelsea, NY, and Charles Blaichman, one of Jay-Z’s partners, said they had been seeking $370 million in loans and investments from various banks to begin construction, but have not been successful.
“A year ago it would have seemed a reasonable amount. Not now,” said Blaichman. “Even the banks who want to give us money can’t.”
But Blaichman is optimistic, hoping that his plans have been delayed, instead of cancelled.
“It’s one of the greatest stretches of undeveloped areas,” he told the Times. “I still think it’s going to take off.”
Analysts predict with the state of the economy, it may be another two years before any new buildings pop up on the NYC skyline.
After more than a year of dating, America’s Next Top Model winner Eva Marcille and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne star Lance Gross are engaged. They discussed the details in a recent interview with Essence Magazine, in which they revealed that Lance popped the question, on bended knee of course, in front of family and friends on Christmas Eve.
On Wednesday, December 24, while vacationing with their families at the couple’s favorite winter getaway spot—the Big Bear ski resort in the San Bernardino Mountains outside of Los Angeles—Marcille and Gross decided to open gifts after dinner in their rented cabin. When Marcille opened her gift—a pillow with a note attached that read: “Hope you like it. Give this pillow to the man you love and he will explain.” After taking the pillow and using it as a cushion, Gross got on bended knee and popped the big question with a 3.36-carat 1895 Pave Cartier ring at 11:30 P.M. According to reports published by famous gossip website The New York Post, singer Mariah Carey just may have Nick Cannon‘s bun in her oven. When spies spotted her vacationing in St. Barts, they described her as being zaftig, which by definition means, “a woman having a full rounded figure; plump.” They also mentioned that they have reliable sources who spotted her leaving an ob/gyn’s office at the beginning of December 2008, carrying what looked to be a sonogram, and when she emerged from the building, she was immediately greeted by her entourage with cheers and lots of excitement. The 2008 Finals was a great event in itself, but the final long awaited match-up between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics was nail biting, to say the least, until the final buzzer. The past rivalry between these two team is legendary. For the 11th time, they battled head to head for the championship title. Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce were known as the ‘Big Three’ all up against a one man stampede, Kobe Byrant. The Los Angeles Lakers showed their teamwork in the 2008 Finals, but the Celtics lead the series victoriously. Although the Boston Celtics took the 2008 Championship title, it was still very interesting watching every game they played against one another, making it the best moment in sports.
