Solange and Beyonce to Duet for Solange’s Next Album

Hot on the heels of rumors (that were later denounced) of Solange being dropped from her record label comes news that the Geffen Records singer is set to begin working on her follow up to Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams. And word on the sidewalk is that we will finally hear a duet between her and her superstar sister Beyonce!

“I definitely think that they’ll be a time and a place for me and my sister to collaborate,” Solange told MTV News. “It’s just all about the time and the place and letting it evolve naturally — and whenever that day happens well embrace it well come up with something good. I’ve actually started the early groundwork for the third record,” she explained. “More so in finding out and experimenting on who I want to be on board with … just more so experimenting with the ideas of finding one or two solid musicians and building from there.”

Kid Cudi Signs with Universal Motown

G.O.O.D. Music artist Kid Cudi has officially joined the likes of Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes by signing a recording contract with Universal Motown and plans to release his debut album Man on the Mood: The Guardian via the label’s imprint this summer! UM President Sylvia Rhone confirmed the news last Wednesday.

“Kid Cudi is at the vanguard of a game-changing new generation of artists,” Rhone said in a statement. “He crosses musical boundaries with an appeal that goes beyond genre, format, race, language, and culture. Cudi lives easily in the hip-hop, indie rock, pop, and R&B worlds…He is a breath of fresh air – a dynamic and important new voice, not only in the next phase of hip-hop, but as a groundbreaking trendsetter who represents the future. I am thrilled to welcome Kid Cudi into the Universal Motown family.”

For those who are wondering, Kid Cudi changed his mind and decided not to retire after his first album. He confirmed this last month at the SXSW festival. But we called him on his bluff a while back when he announced his “retirement” so we’re in no way surprised.

Snoop Dogg to be Immortalized in Wax

Snoop Dogg is going to become the first living rapper ever to be immortalized in wax for Madame Tussauds famous wax museum. He’ll be the third rapper on display at the museum in Los Angeles, and his figure will be unveiled sometime Monday, April 20th. The figure will stand in the “On Stage” area and he’ll be the third rap icon on display, joining the likes of the late Tupac Shakur. The statue reportedly will be worth $300,000 and he’ll be rocking his trademark cornrows.

“Fa shizzle dizzle I said yes when asked,” the rapper tells PEOPLE. “I’m honored! The D O double G got a double. It’s real to be immortalized [in wax] in the ranks with President Barack Obama,” he said.

Jay-Z & Crew Accused of Skipping on $1,500 Nightclub Bill

Word on the sidewalk is that a nightclub owner in new York City is accusing Jay-Z, his crew and a few of his record exec friends of skipping out on a $1,500 bill earlier this year. We hear the owner is pressing charges too.

In February, Atlantic Records executive Michael Kyser and Universal Music Group honcho Shawn Costner invited rapper Jay-Z and his crew out to M2 in Chelsea, NY. But the club’s owner, Joey Morrisey says Kyser and Costner are refusing to pay their $1,500 tab, which had a bottle of Patron and a ton of expensive champaigne on it.

“Jay-Z ordered a bottle of Patron Platinum and some expensive champagne, and everything was going great,” M2 man- ager Dan Develin tells Page Six. “The waitress has known him for five years, and he’s a good friend of Joey’s, so we ended up comping a lot of their bill.”

Lil Kim Linked to Scott Storch’s Stolen Bentley

You guys remember that Bentley Scott Storch leased and never returned? Turns out, Lil Kim‘s ol’ scary lookin @ss is involved in all of this mess too! New reports are suggesting that the vehicle (estimated to be worth $250,000) that was repossessed from the rapper around this time last year actually belonged to Scott Storch, who was just arrested and charged with grand theft auto Friday for failing to return the leased Bentley.

The repo company figured out he had given the car to Kim so that’s why they went to her home back in May 2008 and took it back. Storch, who is currently in rehab for a drug addiction, posted an undisclosed amount of bail when he was arrested, and is required to appear in Broward County Court on May 29th. And Kim is supposed to take the witness stand!

Amy Winehouse and Snoop Dogg Collaboration Delayed … Because of Weed!

New reports are suggesting that singer Amy Winehouse and rapper Snoop Dogg sketched out a couple of tracks together back in 2008! But we hear they couldn’t finish them because they took way too many breaks to smoke weed and were way too high to finish what they got started…

A source tells Britain’s The Sun, “Amy came to the studio buzzing with ideas and the pair got on really well, even though Snoop turned up in his dressing gown with slippers on, which had Amy giggling. They were working at a frenetic pace at first but as the day wore on and more smoke breaks took place, the work rate slackened. By the time their studio time ended they had a pair of tracks sketched out but no finished product.”

Since Amy is in all this legal trouble (Google her, baby!), getting her hands on a visa to come back to the states to finish up the tracks will be damn near impossible. And isn’t Snoop banned from the UK or something like that?

Scott Storch Arrested for Grand Theft Auto in Miami

When he’s not losing his home, dodging bill collectors and harboring fugitives, Scott Storch is running from auto dealers! The latest news on the dirt broke producer is that he was apprehended by Miami police Friday and charged with grand theft auto.

According to the police report, Storch began leasing a 2004 Bentley GT in February 2006 and was set to return it in March 2008. Well, here it is April 2009 and apparently, Scott Storch never turned in the vehicle! And Atlas Leasing Company, the owners of the vehicle, say they have been looking for the car for over 7 months! They said Storch failed to comply with the terms of their leasing agreement and they claim his negligence has cost the company $65,000 in revenue that could have been accruing from other potential clients who wanted to lease the Bentley.

Once he was arrested and booked, Storch posted an undisclosed amount of bail and went on his way. No word yet on a court date.

Don’t you just hate when you get a new cell phone number and the original owner of that number has a ton of “phone baggage” (stalkers/bug-a-boos, telemarketers, bill collectors, estranged family members, etc.)? Well imagine if you were Lil Jon and you discovered you had Miley Cyrus‘ old number!

“I was basically in shock, like how did that happen?!” he said in a statement. “Especially when I get texts like ‘CONGRATULATIONS ON TEEN VOGUE!’” Lil Jon told Access that Miley’s friends have been calling him by mistake, but he’s planning on keeping the line.

Eminem’s Brother Nathan Mathers Charged with DUI

Eminem Rapper Eminem‘s little brother Nathan Mathers has been charged with DUI (driving under the influence) in his home state of Michigan!

Nathan Mathers, who raps as Nathan Kane, was arrested early on Wednesday morning in the Detroit suburb of MAComb Township. According to local police, Mathers failed to pull over to let an ambulance pass and failed sobriety tests after he was stopped by cops. His blood-alcohol level was 0.16 per cent, twice the 0.08 per cent legal limit. The 23-year-old was charged with DUI and operating a vehicle while impaired and released on personal bond. He is scheduled for a hearing in Shelby Township’s district court on May 7th.

Eminem Covers June 2009 XXL Magazine (x2) // Speaks on T.I., Lil Wayne, Hip-Hop and more!

Eminem landed himself not one, but two, covers for the June 2009 issue of XXL Magazine, set to hit newsstands May 5th. After a three year hiatus from the music industry, the Detroit bred rapper is preparing to release his fifth studio album, Relapse, on May 15th. The cover on the right is a special collector’s edition and features Eminem as Marvel Comics’ notorious vigilante “The Punisher.” Below is a quote pulled from the interview where he talks about how he feels about T.I., Lil Wayne and hip-hop and general, which he felt has gone way downhill. But he said he respects Tip and Weezy’s respective flows.

On T.I., Lil Wayne & Hip-Hop:
“I stayed up on the music, and obviously I watch TV and saw what was going on. And without naming any names, it just felt like hip-hop was going downhill. And it seemed like kinda fast. You know, in them three years, it was like everybody just cares about the hook and the beat; nobody really cares about substance. But with this new T.I. album, with this new Lil Wayne album of recent, it seems like things are looking a lot better now. You can appreciate Lil Wayne using different words to rhyme and actually rhyming words that you know. Or T.I., where you hear shit and you’re like Whoa, ah, I wish I would have thought of that! You know what I mean? Or you hear all the compound-syllable rhyming and all that. It just seems like now the craft is getting cared about more.”

Billy Ray Cyrus says Jamie Foxx’s Comments about Miley were “Hurtful”

Billy Ray Cyrus himself has finally publicly addressed the comments Jamie Foxx made about Cyrus’ 16-year-old daughter Miley on The Foxxhole, Foxx’s popular radio show in Sirius XM Satellite Radio. Jamie has since then apologized for making the statements, saying that he didn’t mean what he said.

“It was hurtful,” Billy Ray said on Thursday’s “Bonnie Hunt Show,” according to Us Weekly. “There wasn’t nothing funny about it. And, quite frankly, I think if I said those things about his daughter, he might not find it so comedic.”

Fantasia Lands her Own VH1 Reality Series

R&B singer Fantasia will return to her reality television roots come early 2010 when she stars in a new unscripted series on VH1, who is well known for their reality shows. Her first experience with reality television was when she was a contestant on FOX’s hit singing competition show American Idol.

“Fantasia has one of the most fascinating stories in show business, from her tough upbringing to her meteoric rise on the national scene thanks to American Idol,'” Jeff Olde, executive vp original programming at VH1 said.

“Her challenges from fame and her unwillingness to fail have combined to create a larger-than-life talent who appeals to music lovers around the world. So many people wanted to work with her on this, but Fantasia is now part of the VH1 family, and we’re so happy to have her.”

Rihanna Set to Perform in Dubai in May

Rihanna is reportedly preparing to take the stage in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on May 28th, in her first performance since her February 2009 altercation with her (former?) boyfriend Chris Brown. Her last concert was January 29th in Los Angeles.

“There will be over 25,000 tickets available,” says Mary Rachelle Cherpak, a spokeswoman for Dubai Tourism. “They will be going on sale in the next couple of days.”

Though the location is still TBD, she says it will most likely be a designer outdoor venue.

Says Cherpak: “Normally they create a special stage in the desert for these events.”

T.I.’s Former Bodyguard Corey Williams Sentenced to One Year and a Day in Prison

It has been confirmed that Corey Williams has been given the same sentence (via a very nice plea deal) as his former boss T.I. A judge sentenced the former bodyguard/informant to one year and a day behind bars in a federal prison for his role in T.I.’s recent weapons scandal.

In court records, Williams revealed that he started working for T.I. in July 2007. Soon after, Williams’ previously clean record allowed him to purchase weapons for T.I., who is barred from obtaining any due to his previous criminal convictions. The arrangement was discovered by ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) authorities when Williams attempted to purchase a machine gun without registering the weapon, which is required by federal law.

Upon his arrest, Williams agreed to wear a wire during face-to-face meetings with T.I., which led to the rapper’s arrest on felony weapons charges. Although no charges were filed, Williams also implicated T.I. protégé Alfamega in the conspiracy.
