Keri Hilson: My very first check was for Ruben Studdard’s first album, like $25,000. And my family was like, “What the hell is this? This is what you’ve been doing? Who the hell brings home a check like this?” They’re thinking $2,500 here and there, whatever. It was crazy.Did you blow it?
Keri Hilson: No! I’m very frugal. Very.We haven’t seen you as much as your contemporaries on blogs and gossip sites.

Keri Hilson: My first reaction was “Thank God I never did that.” I never let anybody take any naked pictures of me, so there would be none. I was always one of those over-paranoid people, convinced that someday that I would be living the dream, so as early as middle or high school I wouldn’t do certain things, just in case.

After spending over 8 years in prison, former Bad Boy recording artist Shyne will be released from prison this October. A Manhattan judge officially signed the court order that will spring the rapper from jail Tuesday (Aug 4). Upon his release, Shyne will receive two-and-a-half years of post-release supervision.
An attorney for Shyne — born Jamal Barrow but now going by Moses Levi after converting to Judaism while in prison — said that the order marked one of the last remaining hurdles in the way of his client’s release from prison in October.
“He’s about 90 percent of the way home now,” attorney Oscar Michelin told MTV News following the hearing.
The district attorney’s office had recommended Shyne receive the maximum amount of five years of post-release supervision (essentially probation), due to the violent nature of his crime. In June of 2001, Shyne was sentenced to 10 years in prison — the most serious charge he was found guilty of was first-degree assault, after a patron in the club was shot in the face following a melee that started between a group of clubgoers and Diddy’s entourage, which included his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez and Shyne. Shyne brandished a gun and fired shots into the air to break up the argument.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell has denied allegations that she assaulted a photographer in Italy last year, saying that they are “completely untrue.” An Italian paparazzo who goes by the name of Gaetano Di Giovanni alleges the model, known for her violence, hit him with her purse as he took pictures of her and her billionaire boyfriend Vladislav Doronin, who were vacationing on the island of Lipari.
Di Giovanni told Italian newspaper La Repubblica, “First she hit with her bag, screaming at me and then she tried to slap me. I managed to avoid her – but her nails still got my eye (sic). For a few seconds I could not see a thing. I could hear that her bodyguards and her boyfriend were trying to drag her away.”
But a rep for Campbell denies the claims, insisting she had nothing to do with the attack.
“Media reports circulating that Naomi Campbell attacked a photographer in Lipari, Sicily, are completely untrue.”
Who do you believe? Crazy Naomi … or the crazy photog? We’re gonna go with Naomi on this one. We think she’s cleaned up her act after having to do that whole community service thing a couple of years back. No supermodel ever would want to return to that type of punishment!
Hip-hop mogul Diddy has got himself into a bit of trouble! His Bad Boy recording label has been sued for copyright infringement by a singer named Kirby Shields. Kirby alleges that his song “I’m Just Getting Started” is identical to Day 26‘s “Just Getting Started” record, which is featured on their sophomore album Forever In A Day.
But peep this! Shields says the track was produced by Christian Davis Stalnecker, a producer he hired to work “exclusively” for him back in 2007. So now you may have a case of a producer selling the same record to two different artists! And we’re sure Diddy, Bad Boy and Day 26 had no idea, which makes this whole thing that much more crazier.

Singer Ciara took park in the 2nd annual Staples/Do Something 101 National School Suppply drive Tuesday (Aug 4) at the Children’s Aid Society Dunlevy Milbank Boys and Girls Club in New York City. The purpose of the annual event is to provide school supplies to low-income youth.
According to a press release, over 5,000 bags were filled with notebooks, calculators, binders and other back-to-school essentials, which will all be donated to local students in need just in time for the upcoming school year.

According to Rihanna‘s lawyer Donald Etra, the pop singer doesn’t think that 50-yard protection clause (10 yards at events) a judge ordered against her and Chris Brown is necessary. Etra plans on asking the court to get rid of the order of protection at Chris Brown’s sentencing today.
The 21-year-old “Umbrella” singer wants a less-stringent “level one” order, with no distance requirement, her lawyer said.
“Our position has not changed. We still believe a level one is sufficient. It would protect her against Chris annoying, harassing or molesting her in any way,” said Rihanna’s lawyer Donald Etra. “She doesn’t feel it’s necessary [to have a 50-yard buffer].”

MTV announced the nominations for their 26th annual Video Music Awards Tuesday (Aug 4) and Beyonce and Lady Gaga both scored nine nods a piece! Beyonce, nominated for Video of the Year, Best Female Video, Best Choreography and more, says she’s excited to share the spotlight with Lady Gaga.
“I’m excited and honored to be tied for most nominated for the VMAs,” Beyonce said. “I’ve been blessed this year to have ‘Single Ladies’ become a video people really connected with and responded to. I’ve spent so much time watching all the great versions people created all around the world. It’s beautiful to feel you touch people and bring a song to life with a video.”

Fox television has confirmed that Paula Abdul will not be returning for another season of their hit singing competition reality series American Idol.
“With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to Idol. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon. What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me. It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month. I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all.
Before we get to the drama surrounding the Atlanta Housewives, let’s start you off with the stats from last week’s season 2 premiere! The Season 2 premiere of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta reality TV show drew in a record setting 2.7 million viewers, the most for any “Real Housewives” debut. In comparison, the New York Housewives’ Season 2 premiere brought home 1.6 million viewers, while the second season premiere of the Orange County Housewives opened at 1.1 million viewers.
Due to the popularity and anticipation for the show’s premiere, Bravo aired it twice, with the actual premiere at 10 p.m. and the re-run airing an hour later at 11 p.m. In total, over 4 million people tuned in to watch the show! Why is this such a big deal, you ask? Well, last season’s premiere only saw 656,000 viewers, though 2.8 million people caught the finale at the end of the season.

Actor Shemar Moore was hit by a car! But he’s okay and only suffered a broken leg.
According to his representative, the “Criminal Minds” actor was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries shortly after being knocked off his bicycle by a car in Los Angeles Saturday (Aug 1).
Moore was discharged and is now recovering at his LA home.
Melanie Brown and her husband Stephen Belafonte were spotted on their way out of Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills, along with LaToya Jackson, Melody Thornton of the Pussycat Dolls and actress Lark Voorhies, best known for her role as Lisa from 90’s sitcom “Saved By The Bell.”
