Beyonce Performs at Las Vegas’ Wynn Hotel for “I Am…” Tour
Beyonce‘s intimate four-day stint at Las Vegas’ Wynn Hotel officially wrapped Sunday night (Aug 2) and is being reported as a tremendous success! Her 90-minute set featured the singer in an up-close-and-personal stage show and was re-arranged exclusively for those four nights. She only had three costume changes and played narrator to her audience of 1,500, telling the story of her music career in a playful manner starting from the top.
Sunday’s show was taped for a DVD, set to be released this November. Meanwhile, she’s set to embark on the final dates of her “I Am…” world tour starting next week when she visits Japan. She also has upcoming dates in Australia, China and Europe, where she’ll record the arena version of the tour for the aforementioned live DVD.

Rapper Kanye West surprised the audience and performed on stage with fellow rappers Malice and Pusha T of the Clipse during the Diesel U Music 2009 NYC Tour at Webster Hall last Thursday (Jul 30) in New York City.
In related news, Kanye and Eminem are both nominated in the same four categories for the upcoming 2009 MTV VMAs: Video of the Year, Best Male Video, Best Hip Hop Video and Best Special Effects. It’ll be interesting to see who takes what September 13th when the VMAs air live from Radio City Hall in NYC.

★ Spotted: Rihanna at a Heliport in Manhattan
Pop singer Rihanna was spotted by the paps Monday afternoon (Aug 4) as she made her way through a Manhattan Heliport (an “airport” for helicopters for all you rocket scientists out there) after spending the weekend in the Hamptons.
In other news, it’s being reported that she had a crush on the doorman of one of the parties she hit up over the weekend! Sources he was “really hot” and was also a model. They also said she even took his number on the way out…
Ri-Ri hit Fabulous’ Friday night performance at the AXE Lounge in the Hamptons with three girlfriends. By the end of the evening, I’m told, Rihanna was smitten with the celebrity hot spot’s doorman! But he wasn’t just any doorman. The dude is also a model. “He’s really hot,” said one of the sources. Rihanna, sources report, asked for his number on the way out. Her rep declined to comment.
Meanwhile, her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown is supposed to be making an appearance on CNN’s Larry King Live sometime this week, which would be Brown’s first televised interview, or live television appearance for that matter, since the February incident.

Beyonce on Jay-Z Revealing Secrets About Their Relationship: “It’s Never Gonna Happen.”
Just as we predicted, Jay-Z will not be revealing any vivid details on his marriage with Beyonce in his upcoming book. When asked about the book after her stint in Las Vegas this past weekend, Beyonce said:
“I think he’s doing a book — it actually is not a biography.” When asked if Jay would ever write about their love story, Beyoncé replied, “It’s never gonna happen.”

Nas Finally Speaks Up: “I was a hell of a husband and a hell of a dad!”
Speaking to a Canadian newspaper, rapper Nas admits that he’s not perfect, but he was a “hell of a husband and a hell of a dad” and he’s not worried about what people think about him, even though it boggles his mind that they care enough to.
“It’s unfortunate when business is out there about your personal sh-t, especially when you’re really not the guy to be having his sh-t out there,” he says. “The sad thing is, you’ve got to get used to it. My skin is so thick that I probably need to write a book for people who are not ready for anything crazy. It’s funny that someone would even care about some Nasir Jones sh-t,” says the MC, on the line from Atlantic City. “I’m still that kid from the block at the end of the day.… So when I watch this sh-t, it’s surreal. We get a good laugh off it and say, ‘Hey, they’re talking about me again and it’s some funny sh-t.'”
All of this adds fuel to fire that is his very public divorce from R&B singer Kelis, who recently gave birth to their first child Knight last week and will be receiving over $40 grand a month from her future ex-husband in spousal/child support. She also put out that Nas was a cheater, a claim that Nas himself denies.
Drake Blogs About His Condition: “Angels And Demons”
In a post titled “Angels and Demons,” rapper Drake has taken to his personal blog to update fans about his condition. Going on tour with a serious injury and performing on stage every night, whether it be 3 songs, 2 songs or even 1 song, wasn’t exactly the smartest move, but you’ve definitely gotta respect this young man’s hustle! He’s in it to win it, and there’s no torn ACL, MCL, LCL, LOL or any other 3-letter-term that’s gonna stop him. This bottle of Opus One is low but my spirits are high my friends. I am about 2 hours away from Toronto, CA where I will be spending the next chunk of time recovering from a surgery that I now must have. I embarked on this tour with a torn ACL, MCL, and LCL and due to the events that happened the other night lord only knows what other damage I have done. On the bright side I will begin the reflecting and soul searching that its going to take to make this album and my outfit on the night I fell was crack. I will forever push myself beyond the limits despite advice and recommendations given because even with this new found success I am still the kid who wanted this more than anything in the world. Its funny when I read comments from previous fans who have lost interest because of the radio play and exposure I have. I just want to assure anyone reading that nothing has changed on my end. I still work as if So Far Gone had never dropped and I’m still trying to figure out how I’m going to gain entry to this game.

Singer Chris Brown surprised fans Sunday night during Lil Wayne‘s concert in his home state of Virginia when he filled in for Drake by performing “Best I Ever Had.” Brown also performed “Every Girl” with Wayne and his Young Money crew and later paid tribute to Michael Jackson. When Jackson’s song “Billie Jean” played, Chris moonwalked across the stage as Weezy shouted, “Ya’ll make noise for the new Michael!”

Did you like Drake‘s “Best I Ever Had” music video? The general consensus is that it was just a bunch of big bouncing boobies and held no real substance. So not many people liked it. And Kanye West, the director of the video, even offered to redo the video … but Drizzy apparently turned him down and took the whole situation as an early lesson to the music biz. Hey, you can’t please everyone!
“That career move was very important to me,” he explained at the America’s Most Wanted Music Festival kickoff in Scranton, Pennsylvania. “We’ve done such a great job of building it all up. It’s kind of like people were getting this impression of me that I’m never gonna make a mistake. I’m not made of Teflon. I’m gonna do things for myself sometimes, as opposed to what people want me to do.”
Drake said the abundance of big-breasted women in the video didn’t put up any red flags that the video would offend anyone. He enjoyed the final cut of the video and thought it was right on point.
Chris Brown Tats Up Rihanna’s Tattoo Artist “Bang Bang”
Looks like Chris Brown and Rihanna have a mutual friend! Last Tuesday night (Jul 28), Chris came up with a little tattoo sketch of his own and permanently etched it to Keith “Bang Bang” McCurdy, the guy responsible for Rihanna’s most recent tattoos.
After Bang Bang pimped Chris’s forearm earlier in the week, the “No Air” star agreed to return the favor by putting a cartoon face on Bang Bang’s leg with the word “Bang” above it. “He drew it,” Bang Bang told OK!,”“It’s pretty funny. I told him, ‘Do whatever you want,’ and he drew something and I liked it. He did a great job too. He’s a natural, which is funny because I said the same thing about Rihanna. She was really good the first time, but he was better. He wasn’t nervous at all. I asked him if he was, and he said, ‘Nope — not at all.'”
But didn’t Rihanna almost get into legal trouble for doing the same thing?
Baatin from Slum Village (1974 – 2009) Found Dead
It was confirmed over the weekend that Baatin (real name: Titus Baatin Glover) of the hip-hop group Slum Village was found dead early Saturday morning (Aug 1) in Detroit. A cause of death still has yet to be determined, but Wayne County spokeswoman Vanessa Denha said Monday there were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play.
Baatin was a founding member of Slum Village and left the group a few years ago due to an unknown health condition, and it is currently unknown whether or not that condition had anything to do with his death. He was 35 years old.
