J. Cole thrilled the 2019 NBA All-Star Game audience with a well-received halftime show performance.

Unlike this year’s “meh” Super Bowl Halftime Show in Atlanta, which featured performances from Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Big Boi, Cole’s NBA All-Star Game halftime show in Charlotte was praised by viewers.

Smack dab in the middle of the big game, a showdown between Team LeBron vs. Team Giannis (#TeamLeBron won, btw), J. Cole—a North Carolina native—ran through some of his biggest hits, past and present, in a 10-minute medley that features the songs “Middle Child,” “ATM” and “No Role Models.”

Cole also gave a shout-out to 21 Savage during his brief performance of “A Lot,” which features the Atlanta rapper who was just released from ICE detainment. “21 Savage! We love you,” he said.

Social media made it clear that Maroon 5’s halftime show pales in comparison with J. Cole’s

“J. Cole’s performance during the All-Star Game really put the Super Bowl halftime show to shame,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “Shoulda just let J cole do the Super Bowl halftime show,” tweeted another.
