A paparazzo thought it’d be a good idea to antagonize ex-heavyweight championship boxer Mike Tyson at a ticket counter at Los Angeles’ LAX airport Wednesday (Nov 11). So he went through with his little plan and he ended up lying on his back on the floor bleeding. And then he and Mike BOTH got arrested.

TMZ has learned Mike Tyson has been arrested at LAX airport for battery after a bloody confrontation with a paparazzo outside the United terminal. We’re told Tyson punched the pap in the face and there is blood everywhere. We’re told Tyson was at a ticket counter at the United Airlines terminal when the incident occurred. The photographer got punched in the face, hit the ground, got up and began walking, leaving a trail of blood. An LAPD spokesperson said the photographer suffered a minor laceration to the forehead.

Someone at the scene tells TMZ … the photographer got very close to Tyson before the boxer struck him. Our says there’s blood on the ground and Mike was taken away in a squad car. We’re told an ambulance was dispatched at 4:39 PM to LAX and the paparazzo was transported to a local hospital.

Cops say Tyson and the photographer performed citizen’s arrests on each other — both are expected to be booked for misdemeanor battery. Cops also said witnesses backed both stories … so that could get interesting. If Tyson is prosecuted, given that he’s a former boxing champ, the charge could end up being assault with a deadly weapon.

It probably sounded like a good idea in the beginning, but we’re sure  the thought of “oh sh*t I don’t think I shouldn’t have done this!” came across the photographer’s mind as Mike delivered that blow to the face.

Retired championship boxer Mike Tyson was a special guest on Monday’s (Oct 12) episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” But this wasn’t the same Mike Tyson we knew in the media back in the day. This was a new Mike Tyson, ready to focus on his family and try to change the way the public sees him. He told Oprah he was “tired of failing.”

Tyson opened up about most of his headline-grabbing actions over the years, including his years in prison, his tempestuous eight-month marriage to Robin Givens, his long addiction to drugs, the $400 million fortune he squandered, the 1997 comeback match in which he bit Evander Holyfield’s ear, and — for the first time — the death of his 4-year-old daughter earlier this year.

Former championship boxer Mike Tyson has spoken out for the first time since his daughter’s death more than two months ago. In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tyson says that his recent acting roles have helped him with the grieving process.

Following his cameo in ‘The Hangover,’ Mike Tyson heads to the small screen for a role in FOX’s new series, “Brothers,” starring Michael Strahan and Daryl “Chill” Mitchell.

“I knew Chill over 25 years ago. I met Mike recently,” the heavyweight champ tells ET, which is first on the set of the new comedy. “I really was beating myself up over my daughter. I was staying in the house, depressed; it was a dark moment in my life. This keeps me functioning as a healthy human being,” Tyson continues. “I am working with dealing with it,” he says. “I have spoken to a lot of people. I have become a member of an exclusive club no one wants to join. I have been told the pain never stops but you get over it. I am going through a process, trying to heal. I am in denial, because I don’t know how to handle it. I don’t know what to do or say. I appreciate everybody who supported me.”

Tyson says that his role on “Brothers” is a “Godsend,” and that if they want him to return, he would be happy to do so.

“Brothers” will premiere on Friday, September 25 at 8 p.m. on FOX. Tyson’s episode will air later in the season. In it, he shows up to collect money from Mike (Strahan) at his brother’s (Mitchell) restaurant.

Just two weeks after suffering the tragic loss of his 4-year-old daughter Exodus, retired boxer Mike Tyson married his longtime girlfriend Lakiha Spicer in a private ceremony at La Bella Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. Tyson and Spicer signed the marriage license on June 6th, just 30 minutes before they exchanged their vows in the low-key wedding, which Shawn Absher, owner of the wedding chapel, said was in keeping with a special request from Tyson himself.

“They were very heartwarming, and I think they really do love each other,” Absher said. “He seemed happy -and his life’s been up and down. They just wanted to say the vows and be married … it was very sincere.”

This is Tyson’s third marriage. He was previously married to actress Robin Givens (1988) and Monica Turner (1997), of whom he has two children with.
