Oh, Joe. You’ve done it again.
It’s no secret that Vice President Joe Biden is known for making, shall we say, “colorful” remarks in public.
The king of self-sabotage has spilled company secrets and he’s called Hillary Clinton a better choice for VP than himself. And now it’s time to add another one to Joe Biden’s long and storied gaffe list.
At a recent rally in Danville, Virginia, Biden spoke in front of a crowd with a significant amount of black voters.
He was warning the crowd about the Republican Party’s plans to “unchain” Wall Street. That’s when he made the wrong figurative leap, according to a report from AP/HuffPo:
“Unchain Wall Street. They’re going to put y’all back in chains.”
Hayyyulll to the naw, suh.
While claims about the GOP being racist are nothing new or entirely inaccurate, Biden’s comments aren’t ones that should be made in such an overt way because it plays into the “Democrats are calling us racist” victim game that Republicans love to play. And boy have they gained significant yardage with this Biden fumble.
Romney staffers were quick to cry out in disgust about Biden’s comments:
Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said Biden’s comments are, quote, “not acceptable in our political discourse” and a, quote, “new low.”
But President Obama said he is standing by his man JoBi in an interview with People magazine.
“The truth is that during the course of these campaigns, folks like to get obsessed with how something was phrased even if everybody personally understands that’s not how it was meant,” Obama said.
Let’s just hope that we don’t have a repeat of the race meltdowns like we had in the 2008 election when Bill Clinton lost his cot-damned mind.
Be easy, Joe. Be easy.
