Following in the footsteps of R&B singer Mario, troubled NBA player Gilbert Arenas posed for PETA’s “Ink Not Mink” anti-fur campaign.
Gilbert is a three-time NBA All-Star and a three-time member of the All-NBA Team. His sizzling moves have earned him nicknames such as “Agent Zero” and “Hibachi,” a Japanese word that means “bowl of fire.” Gilbert’s a fierce competitor on the court, but it’s his compassion toward animals off the court that makes him a true all-star. Join Gilbert in refusing to contribute to animal suffering by not buying or wearing fur or fur trim!
This was obviously done way before Gilbert was suspended indefinitely from the Washington Wizards. Other athletes who support the PETA movement and have posed for the animal rights activist group include Amar’e Stoudemire, Tony Gonzalez, Michael Strahan, “Sugar” Shane Mosley and more.

NBA Commissioner David Stern suspended Gilbert Arenas, a star point guard for the Washington Wizards, Wednesday (Jan 6) for bringing guns into an NBA locker room and pulling one out on a teammate during an argument over a gambling debt. Arenas is is currently under a six-year contract worth $111 million, but he will not receive pay during his suspension.
David Stern said via statement:
The possession of firearms by an NBA player in an NBA arena is a matter of the utmost concern to us. I initially thought it prudent to refrain from taking immediate action because of the pendency of a criminal investigation [however]… his ongoing conduct has led me to conclude that he is not currently fit to take the court in an NBA game.
