Barack Obama Wins Even More States: Maine, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia
Senator Barack Obama got a major boost Tuesday with victories in the Democratic presidential primaries in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. Obama remains in a tight race with Senator Hillary Clinton, but the Illinois senator is favored to add to his delegate lead in next Tuesday’s contests in Wisconsin and Hawaii. VOA National correspondent Jim Malone reports from Washington. Experts were struck by the margins of the Obama victories on Tuesday, especially in Virginia and Maryland where he won 64 percent and 62 percent of the vote respectively. Obama benefited from strong support from African-Americans and a burning desire for change among many voters like this man in the nation’s capital.
“I just want to see change in the world and I think this primary can bring about change, specifically on Iraq and health care,” he said. Obama has now won eight contests in a row against Clinton and hopes to build unstoppable momentum with victories in next Tuesday’s primary in Wisconsin and a Democratic caucus in Hawaii. “It is about whether we are looking backwards or whether we are marching forward,” said Obama. “And when I am the Democratic nominee for president, that will be the choice we have in November.”

The song is called ‘Double Dutch Bus’ and it will appear on the College Road Trip soundtrack, which will be Raven’s new Disney movie staring opposite Martin Lawrence in theaters March 7th. The movie, as well as the single, sounds fun! I’m not complaining. I think what Raven’s doing is pretty cool, I saw the movie’s trailer and it seems like a great family movie! I think ‘Double Dutch Bus’ was produced by The Clutch becos I hear their trademark in the beginning plus Danja is all over this track, lol!

The Writers Strike is Finally Over!
After a little over 3 months on the picket lines, striking members of the Writers’ Guild of America voted approximately 93% in favor to accept a deal with producers to finally end the strike, reports People. The writers are expected to return back to their jobs as early as this week.
The agreement – which still needs to be formally ratified – removes the boycott threat that had been looming over the Feb. 24 Oscars. “I am ecstatic that the 80th Academy Awards presentation can now proceed full steam ahead,” Sid Ganis, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which organizes the ceremony, said in a statement. Under the new deal, producers agreed to give writers a piece of the profit from programs that run on the Internet. Writers also will receive an increase in residual payments for movies and TV shows downloaded online.
Thanks to the new agreement, “writers will lead the way as TV migrates to the Internet and platforms for new media are developed,” said Patric M. Verrone, president of the Writers Guild of America, West. As a key concession, the Guild did give up its push to have its membership include animators and reality television workers.
According to Newsweek, the strike costed the entertainment industry approximately $3.5 billion!

RIHANNA IN POST-GRAMMY CAR ACCIDENT » Singer Rihanna, who claimed an award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, was reported to have been involved in a minor car accident after partying at a Def Jam-sponsored afterparty. This is the same party where she and Chris Brown have been rumored to be getting “cozy” with each other. Early reports suggested that shortly after leaving the party, the singer, popular for her smash hit “Umbrella,” was in her car when it was hit from behind by another car. According to a Def Jam spokesperson, fortunately, no one was hurt.

Mariah Carey’s single recently premiered today via all radio stations and media outlets. The name of the song is ‘Touch My Body’ and it was written by Mariah, herself, and The-Dream and produced by Tricky Stewart. This song will be the first single lifted from Mariah’s follow-up to 2005’s Emancipation Of Mimi, appropriately titled E=MC2 (Island). What I think of the song? I mean, it’s that typical sound Mimi is known for, I see her people wanted to further spawn the ‘We Belong Together’ sound, sort of whimsical and melodic, making it a successor of the forthcoming album – which is smart I guess – maybe this song will grow on me once I see the video it portrays. Oh and I see they changed the album title – much better, see! Now … about that album cover? Lol.
