#1 — Ryan Seacrest wearing… Kim Jong Il, by Burberry, by Sacha Baron Cohen

Probably one of the most talked about moments of the night came about 75 minutes before the curtain came up inside the Hollywood & Highland Center, when Sacha Baron Cohen made his big red carpet arrival.

The actor, best known for his role in the movie “Borat,” carried an urn filled with what he said were the ashes of Kim Jong Il, the late supreme leader of North Korea.

While telling red carpet correspondent Ryan Seacrest that KJI had asked to have his ashes spread over the red carpet (and on Halle Berry), the urn found its way upside down and all over Seacrest.

Cohen had said that he’d arrive in costume/character for his new movie “The Dictator” (in theaters May 11th). The Academy warned Cohen not to use the red carpet to publicize his movie, but the funnyman went ahead with his plans, and was successful at making headlines without ever getting into the show.

Ryan Seacrest went on with the show, after a short commercial break, of course. Also, Giuliana Rancic, his red carpet and E! News co-host, had to ask one of the funniest questions of the night, “Who are YOU wearing?”

See the moment, as it happened on the air, here:

Overall, the show was a little fun, but not the most fun.

It was exciting, at moments, but definitely not the most exciting of them all.

It had good moments, but few great ones, but when it’s all said and done, it’s the Oscars and it’s still the biggest awards night on the planet. But what do I know?

What did you think of the show?
