Kanye West, T.I., Jay-Z & Lil’ Wayne have all decided to collaborate on one track titled “Swagger Like Us!” The track is sampled from M.I.A.‘s “Paper Planes.” Can you even imagine the buzz … or hype this song will cause?! I’m not sure who’s album this will appear on because Jay-Z, T.I., or maybe even Kanye are all working on new albums. But anyhow, I know ya’ll have to check this beat!

A premiere party for MTV’s Making the Band 4 (Season 3) went down last night in New York City. Let me start this off by saying that I apologize for predominately including photos of Boom Kat in the first part of the post. But her pictures were way past hilarious! Homegirl looked like she was too excited to be out of the house for a change. Jumping in folks’ pics, grabbing ’em, standing up on couches and posing for pics, everything! If nobody enjoyed this little premiere party, I know for sure one person did. Laurie Ann momof*ckin Gibson. Lol! Oh, and I see Teyana Taylor done went and got a perm! But it’s gonna take more than that for homeboy to start looking like homegirl! I’m just saying. And where the hell was the rest of Danity Kane? Rumors have began to spread regarding rapper Yung Joc‘s child support payments. Joc cleared up the allegations live on the radio via Atlanta’s popular V-103 station this past Monday (Aug. 18th) stating that he was, in fact, up-to-date with child support payments to his baby mama, Fatimah Jester. But a problem recently arose which caused a temporary delay with the payments, so basically homegirl made a big deal about the situation not considering the fact that what was going on wasn’t Joc’s fault.
“I never missed a payment,” Joc said during the radio interview. “I don’t pay it directly to her; I pay it through [the Georgia Department of Resources Office of Child Support Services]. My banker wires the funds to DHR; they wire the funds right to her account. However long that takes, she needs to discuss that with them, and not put me out there bad like that.”
I knew it would not be long before young music starlet Solange Knowles (aka Solange or Solo) got the chance to scholar in her own right with the new album appropriately entitled SoL-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams (Music World Ent./Geffen). Featured guest appearances on this project, both composition and production, include Bama Boyz, Bilal, Mark Ronson, and The Neptunes to name just a few.
Hadley Dreams is a jazzy tune composed of soul and blues to last a lifetime; to give you a general idea, some of Hadley Dream‘s tracks can cite old inspiration from Diana and The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis as far as production. Overall, Hadley Dreams is a bluesy, harmonic, melancholy — yet “When all is said and done, move on with stride“-type of record.
I think Solange has grown — not only as a singer — but also as a songwriter, it really shows, especially with the album Hadley Dreams; with sounds spouting from the 70s/80s, this album is like a groovy gem! I think Solange flourishes eclectically with this entire project and I am just so amazed of the talent spewing from this artist creatively as a whole.
My recommended track listens would have to be “T.O.N.Y.“, which is definite single material, “Would’ve Been the One“, “6’O Clock Blues“, “Dancing in the Dark“, “Valentines Day“, and the melodic “Cosmic Journey“.
The album, Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams (Music World Ent./Geffen) will be available in stores August 26th and will include the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart-topping hit “I Decided” and “Sandcastle Disco“. Click Here To Listen To Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams!

I posted a few candids of Dawn & Que last week and posed a question. With Beyonce and Jay-Z we have “Jayonce.” With Chris Brown and Rihanna we have “Chrianna.” Now, with Dawn & Que making their rounds as a couple, what the hell should we call them? The memory of comedian/actor Bernie Mac was honored yesterday at a public memorial service in Chicago. According to the Chicago Tribune, over 7,000 people packed into Chicago’s “House of Hope” and celebrated the memory of the Chicago native, who died last week from complications from pneumonia. Comedians Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Harvey and D.L. Hughley spoke at the service. Other celebs who spoke at the service included: Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Suaraz (The Bernie Mac show) and Rev. Jesse Jackson.
Brandy‘s official Web site was recently updated not too long ago with news, pictures, and other information regarding Brandy’s forthcoming album entitled Human (Epic) in stores November 11th! I am so loving everything about this project, I want Brandy to win so badly, she really is underrated. “Right Here (Departed)” is just … amazing! I swear I’ve played it over 400 times (iTunes does not lie) nonstop! This song is so beautiful, from the lyrics to the production and arrangements.

The red, white and blue is the last standing colors once again! The Senior Men’s Basketball Team of USA has been progressing more and more every game and making their statement on where they stand in this competition. Two years ago, this accomplish of Team USA seems unreachable but the tables have definitely turned. USA overthrew Greece by 23 points (92-69) and is digging closer to the gold! Dwyane Wade finished with 17 points and felt their teamwork is the major difference between the past few olympic games:
“We played like we wanted to win. We played together,” Dwyane Wade said. “We were very aware of their offensive sets, we were very aware of their personnel and we played like that. So we were kind of a step in front of what they wanted to do because we kind of knew everything already.”
R&B songstress Brandy has returned with all new music, the Darkchild-produced “Right Here (Departed)” debuted on the singer’s Web site and MySpace page August 13th and is expected to make its way to radio stations later in the following weeks this month. “Right Here” would be the first single lifted from Brandy’s forthcoming yet-titled album, reportedly set to be released later on this year.
So far, response to “B-Rocka”‘s latest material (“Right Here“) overall has been well-received all over the Internet on popular blog-type sites and messages forums due to it’s substantial crossover appeal. The song, however still recognizably Brandy in vocal arrangements, is whimsically crafted with urban edge. Brandy along with longtime collaborative partner Darkchild turns a rough beat and makes it their own. Brandy with her soft angelic tone and Darkchild fusing all the elements of pop, hip-hop and that classic R&B sound Brandy is known for citing her Never Say Never days, only this would be a more upbeat, modern day version sound.
The lyrics to “Right Here” itself are overwhelming and declarative, “When your tears have dried from cryin’ / And the world has turned to silence / When the clouds have all departed / You’ll be right here with me“. I also feel Brandy’s tone of conviction flourishes with “I will be there right beside you every step you take / I will be your strength, your shelter, shield you from the rain” leaving an euphoric shiver up and down your spine. Beautiful. I must have listened to this song well over 50 times!

It’s rumored that the singer is in LA to film a few episodes for the hit ABC series “Desperate Housewives,” and if everything goes well, the singer might end up as a permanent cast member!
