Bad News…

If that doesn’t inspire you to register to vote, then I don’t know what will!

Video from Last Night’s Debate

PHOTO: GETTY IMAGES

Senator PRESIDENT Obama and that old dude they call “John McCain” participated in a debate last night in Mississipi. If you’re living on planet earth right now, you’d know that the U.S. is currently struggling financially, and when Obama begins his 8-year term (yes, he will get re-elected … no doubt about that) on January 20th 2009, it is going to be up to him to fix all of this. And after watching last night’s debate, I sincerely believe that between him and McCain, he’s most definitely the man for the job. The two of them also weighed in on issues regarding foreign policy, foreign oil dependence, and more. If you didn’t get a chance to catch the debate last night, then there’s absolutely no excuse for you to not be able to catch the full videos somewhere online. I even did the looking for you 🙂 Click here!

Also, according to our demographics, 35% of GOT’s readers are between the ages of 18 and 34. If you are a legal United States citizen, then there is no reason (or excuse for that matter) for you not to be registered to vote. You have up until this Saturday (October 4th 2008) to get off of your lazy behind and register! If you visit www.VOTEFORCHANGE.COM all you do is fill out a simple form online and they register for you! This takes all of what … 3 minutes? (depending on the speed of your computer). So what the hell are you waiting on? If Obama doesn’t get into office because of the 55 million Americans not registered to vote, then we don’t deserve to have him as our president. And that’s the truth.

Oh, and by the way, if you turn 18 on or before November 4th, then you are still eligible to vote in this year’s election. So if you are currently 17 years old and your 18th birthday isn’t until November 4th 2008, then you can still register NOW (even before you actually turn 18). SO DO IT!!

[MOVIE TRAILERS] “Notorious”

Notorious isn’t set to hit theater’s until January 2009, but the teaser has already been making it’s way around the net! The film based around the life and death of Brooklyn rapper Biggie Smalls/Notorious B.I.G. The film features Angela Bassett as Voletta Wallace, Derek Luke as Diddy, Anthony Mackie as Tupac, Sen Ringgold as Suge Knight, Antonique as Faithe Evans, Naturi Naughton as Lil’ Kim, and stars Jamal Woolard as Biggie Smalls. I’m curious to see how Biggie’s death was filmed, everyone knows the case is still a unsolved homicide. I wonder if they will be showing who they think killed Biggie or if they will leave it up to the viewers to decide. Check out the teaser above! Shout out to WSHH for sending this one over!

♫ Britney Spears – “Womanizer”

On September 26th Jive/SonyBMG released Britney Spears‘ latest single “Womanizer” to radio worldwide, NYC’s Z100-FM was one of the first radio stations to official debut the single. “Womanizer” is produced by Atlanta-based producer The Outsyders for Spears’ sixth studio album following Blackout, entitled Circus. The song appears to be a mix of Spears’ early works such as “Stronger” and “Toxic” with its enticing sirens, catchy beat, anthem-like appeal. I think I can hear Keri Hilson in the background vocals, which leads me on to believe that maybe she penned this single.Circus in stores Winter 2008.

Lil Wayne Blogs For ESPN

So it looks like Kanye West, Solange, and Pharrell aren’t the only big time celebs making their presence known in the blog world. Weezy has completed his first post in a blog series for ESPN: The Magazine. Check out some of his post below and let me know what you think.

Hello, everybody.

This is the first entry in the blog I’m doing for ESPN The Magazine. I don’t watch nothing but sports—no movies, no news, no television shows—so I thought this would be fun.

Because I watch so much sports, I like to think I know what’s gonna happen. But with the NFL this year, some things have shocked me, some things have been just terrible. Like the Bengals. Damn. I kind of had a feeling things were gonna be bad, but I didn’t want them to be this bad. And oh my God the Chargers.

They won on Monday, but it still wasn’t the Chargers. Then again, I think LaDainian is going to figure out how to work his way back through this injury. LaDainian is tough. I think that last game will be a big motivation boost for him. I’ve talked to some people who’ve had similar injuries with the toe, and they tell me that it’s the mental thing you have to get over first. The pain never goes away, so you gotta accept that and just fight your way through it. I think once he gets used to it you’re gonna see he’s the same LaDainian. I’m not worried about him. He’s gonna be fine. [CONTINUE]

♫ Jazmine Sullivan is “Fearless!”

JAZMINE SULLIVAN – FEARLESS

The jazzy, bluesy singer Jazmine Sullivan debuts “Fearlessly” with her 2008 release under J Records, Fearless. The album’s preceded by the Missy Elliott-produced single “Need You Bad”, which exudes a nice soulful, reggae feel.

Fearless can cite a few inspirations from Lauryn Hill, Brandy, Jill Scott, Mary J. Blige, Fantasia, etc. – at least that’s who I heard listening to the album from personal experience since those are all some of my favorite artists. A lot of the tracks that can be heard on Fearless are very big sounding and jaunty as far as production and some lyrical content.

Sullivan’s rhythmic raspy voice and arrangements are like that pleasurable cream sweetner or voice added that semi-perfect coffee or song. Fearless is highly relatable, highly enjoyable, highly buyable in my honest opinion.

My standout tracks on this album would be Salaam Remi-produced “Bust Your Windows” (which is also slated to be the next single), “My Foolish Heart”, “Call Me Guilty”, “Live a Lie”, and the very Brandy influenced “After the Hurricane”; I don’t know why but in some parts in this song I can picture Young Jeezy in the background saying his trademarked “Aye!” Also, single material in my opinion. Fearless in stores now, p-p-p-pick it uuuup!

DMX Admits Himself to Hospital for “Fear of Stroke”

Reports are saying that DMX was admitted to a Miami hospital yesterday for “fear of stroke,” but the coke head’s lawyer wouldn’t confirm whether or not those reports are factual.

Rapper DMX was admitted to an Aventura, Fla., hospital yesterday (Sept. 22), according to his laywer Bradford Cohen, a day before he was scheduled to appear in an Arizona court. While Bradford wouldn’t confirm media reports alleging his admittance was due to “fear of stroke,” he did say, “It was serious enough at the time but ultimately he should be OK.”

“It was serious enough for him to be brought and taken into a treatment facility. He spent the night there last night and he will probably spend tonight there as well,” Cohen told Billboard.biz. “I don’t think it’s going to be an ongoing thing or a life-threatening situation. He’s going to be alright.”

This dude is ruthless. How convenient of him to pick the day before his court date to “fear a stroke.” We can’t get too mad at the dude though. At least he didn’t pull no sh*t like this, lol!

Janet Jackson Leaves Island Def Jam?!

Janet Jackson has left Island Def Jam Recording label, as confrimed by producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins from his recent vlog on Rap-Up.

There had been speculation that the youngest Jackson was having issues with the label, but we now have confirmation that she has been released from her contract. Janet signed to Island Def Jam in 2007 and released Discipline, her first album on the label, in February of this year. It debuted at No. 1, but sold less in its first week than Janet’s last two albums, 2006’s 20 Y.O. and 2004’s Damita Jo. Jerkins produced the album’s first single “Feedback” and follow-up “Luv.”

“We didn’t get the support from the record company,” he discloses. “[Janet] felt like it wasn’t pushed. I felt like it wasn’t pushed correctly. She just didn’t get her just due as an artist of that magnitude.”

Jerkins also shares his thoughts on Janet’s Rock Witchu Tour and looks to the future. “I could make an album with her, possibly me, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis. Keep it real simple. They focus on what they’re great at, I focus on what I’m great at. We come together and make a classic Janet record.”

[RANDOM CELEBRITY QUOTES] Ne-Yo // Aubrey O’Day // T.I.

NE-YO ON R&B MUSIC AND SEAN GARRETT »

I don’t wanna name any names right now. You’re gonna get me in trouble. But you know what I’m talking about. There was an era when R&B wasn’t hot. … The whole hip-hop/R&B era just kinda threw me for a loop. Around early 2000 when every song kinda sounded like (one note repeated). Like for real, one note the whole song? That never made sense to me. ‘Cause like, if you’re gonna rap — rap. If you’re gonna sing — sing. Don’t try to do this combination hybrid of the two of them that sounds like (garbage). I didn’t dig it. I just never got into it

…Everybody was very much hip-hop/R&B. Everybody was very much Ciara- and Sean Garretted-out. No disrespect to Sean Garrett (writer of Ciara’s debut single “Goodies”), but I think he kind of fathered that era.
