After mMaking her way from starring in Hustle & and Flow to being nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, the talented actress sat down with Jet magazine to reveal the secret behind sustaining her most important role as a single mom to her 14-year-old son, Marcell.
“It can be challenging at times, but everything always works out for the good,” Henson says about juggling motherhood and her Hollywood career. “We take it in stride because I never let what I do get bigger than life. I just try to keep it really real and grounded around here.” (p. 26)

The Black Eyed Peas kicked off Grammy Weekend 2009 with their 5th annual Peapod Foundation Benefit concert in Los Angeles last night. Charlie Wilson Diagnosed with Prostate Cancer
R&B singer Charlie Wilson recently announced that he will be undergoing treatment for prostate cancer, a disease he was diagnosed with last fall. His second solo album, Uncle Charlie, will release to stores in a couple of weeks (Feb. 17th to be exact).
“When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in September, I thought to myself ‘I’m too young… this isn’t a cancer I should be getting,'” Wilson said in a statement. “While I was surprised to discover that this disease strikes one out of every six American men, I was astounded to learn that African American men are 1.6 times more likely than others to be diagnosed with prostate cancer. My wife, Mahin, and I are very fortunate. I was lucky to be diagnosed and begin treatment early. My prognosis is excellent.”
Etta James says She was Just Kidding
Etta James, who recently made a lot of noise on the internet when audio footage leaked of her making comments about Beyonce and President Obama, has apologized in an exclusive interview with the NY Daily News, saying that she was just kidding. She went on to say the only reason she kept going is because the crowd kept laughing. She said she’s still hurt she wasn’t invited to perform at any of the Inauguration Balls though.
“I didn’t really mean anything,” James said. “Even as a little child, I’ve always had that comedian kind of attitude. … That’s probably what went into it.” Still, James acknowledged being miffed she wasn’t invited to perform her signature song for Obama’s first dance with his wife on inauguration night. James said she was “feeling left out of something that was basically mine, that I had done every time you look around.” She said she liked Beyoncé’s performance, but when asked if she thought she could have done better, James answered, “I think so. That’s a shame to say that.”
Kellogs Drops Michael Phelps as Cornflakes Spokesperson
It has been reported that Kellogs will not be pursuing a new contract with Olympic champion swimmer Michael Phelps after a photo surfaced on the internet of him allegedly smoking marijuana through a bong.
Phelps also was suspended from competition and denied financial support for three months by USA Swimming, the sport’s national governing body.
“This is not a situation where any anti-doping rule was violated, but we decided to send a strong message to Michael because he disappointed so many people, particularly the hundreds of thousands of USA Swimming member kids who look up to him as a role model and a hero,” the federation says in a statement. “Michael has voluntarily accepted this reprimand and has committed to earn back our trust.”
T.I. and Justin Timberlake on the Set of “Dead and Gone”
T.I. and Justin Timberlake were spotted on location at the video shoot for their latest collaboration, “Dead and Gone,” off of T.I.’s latest LP Paper Trail. Etta James Talks Reckless About Beyonce!
Etta James, the lady Beyonce portrayed in Cadillac Records, apparently doesn’t like the Single Ladies singer. At a recent concert in Seattle, she had a few choice words to say about Sasha singing “At Last” at one of President Obama’s Inauguration ball.
This is not a joke: 71-year-old Etta James actually threatened to beat the crap out of Beyonce Knowles — and it’s caught all on tape! The war is all over Etta’s song, “At Last ” — Beyonce sang the tune at Obama’s 1st Inauguration Ball on Jan. 20th … but last week at a concert in Seattle, James was still pissed.
While on stage, Etta told the crowd, “Your President, the one with the big ears … he had that woman singing my song. She gone get her ass whipped.” She continued, “The great Beyonce … I can’t stand Beyonce.” Ironically Etta didn’t kick up this sorta fuss when Beyoncé portrayed her in “Cadillac Records.” Reps for Beyonce had no comment.

Fantasia Brings The Color Purple to Washington, D.C.
It’s been reported that Fantasia Barrino is set to return to her role as Celie in the musical stageplay adaptation of The Color Purple. The play ended its stint at broad a year ago back in February 2008, and is set to run for three months in Washington, D.C. starting June 30th 2009. She will also play dates when the show travels to Chicago and Atlanta as well. A rep for the production would not confirm the casting news.
“I don’t know anything about it, so I can not confirm this story,” said publicist Linda Stewart of It Is Done Communication.

Reggie Bush Gets Paid Endorsement Deal with Red Bull
New Orleans Saints runningback Reggie Bush, also most known for being Kim Kardashian’s main squeeze, landed himself a lucrative endorsement deal with energy soda pioneer Red Bull. He’s the first football player to be supported by the energy soda giant. The announcement came about last week with a full jet ski team who performed, while Bush himself flew over Raymond James Stadium in a sea plane.
“Like a lot of professional athletes, I’ve been drinking Red Bull for years,” Bush said in a statement. “It keeps me focused during training and is my favorite when I’m out with friends. Red Bull is fun, young, and energetic, and is also extremely passionate about sports – just like me. So joining the Red Bull team was a no-brainer.”
This should make his main squeeze Kim Kardashian VERY happy!
