Where is all of this coming from if you gon’ take pictures with the girl and let her portray you in a movie? I know Etta James was great in her time (apparently) but Beyonce is an incredible talent for OUR time. I know Etta’s on that i’m-so-old-i-can-say-what-i-want tip… But she should sit the hell down.

The term “feud” would make one believe that there was some back and forth argument between Etta James and Beyonce and as far as I know Etta was the only one to launch into immature name calling and physical threats.

It is one thing to be upset but to threaten someone and to claim that he is “not my president” goes over the line for having your feelings hurt for not getting “the singing gig”.

While Etta made that song famous for her rendition of it, she did not write, produce or compose the lyrics or the music. It was created for a musical! So it is NOT “her song” as she likes to claim so much.

Sad that a performer sinks to these lengths to display hurt feelings.

Get over it and grow up! (or in her case…more mature)!

In an interview she did this morning she stated she she was just playing and that she is a comedian and singer.

It is very disheartening to see the world that we currently live in…

Who is Beyonce really?

Etta James has earned the right to speak however she feels about anyone.

1. She is the original performer of the song.
2. She should be respected by her age alone – who cares if you disagree with her – she is your(s) [and my own] elder.
3. As Blacks today, we are quickly forgetting the struggle of our RECENT past as nothing more than animals. Our President is Black – that is an outstanding and wonderful thing. But I believe it is also going to make people forget about the Don Imus’s and Rodney King beatings… the Oscar Grant murders. We are still FAR from being seen as equal. (Which leads me to #4)
4. Though her reaction is crass for someone of her stature, I feel that she was robbed of a moment in history. Considering her struggles to break into the music business in the 1950s and ability to prevail with such great success (she was inducted in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1993), she should have had the opportunity to sing the song (that she popularized) for the president.

Do you people (especially my fellow Black people) get that a woman such as Etta was not even allowed to perform, let alone eat, sit, or even visit portions of this country at the time that her career began?

Who cares?

You people should respect your elders – no matter what they say and even if you disagree with it (it is not as if she is spewing racism or some other unfathomable action).

My grandmother would STILL slap my mother (whom is older than “Mama Tina”) if she spoke out to a 71-year-old.

Sad you obviously have no respect and either weren’t taught it, or are disrespectful to your parent’s teachings.

Etta James should draw this out as long as possible, it might help her sell a few more records

If it’s one thang that Etta ain’t, it’s funny. I toured in her band for over 5 years and she is one Queen Bitch. I have seen her treat everyone from hotel staff to concert promoters like dog poop. And you sure don’t wanna be in her band unless you have a strong constitution. She be thankin’ she is Hot Sh*T on a stick but she be real cold dookey in a Dixie Cup. She is a mean ole woman!
