Just in time for Easter (which was yesterday, in case you didn’t know) … it’s being reported that “New Birth Missionary Baptist Church” pastor Bishop Eddie Long is very close to reaching a settlement with four former church members who accused him of sexually abusing them.
Four former members of the church have filed lawsuits against the bishop, his youth academy and the church alleging Long used his position to coerce them into sex.
Sources told Channel 2 that court-ordered mediation sessions in the case are close to an agreement. The sessions were suggested because some involved in the case didn’t want negotiations to drag on past Easter.
Sources told Channel Action News 2 reporter Tom Jones that there was one major obstacle preventing a resolution to the case, but now that appears to have been settled. The sources said mediation will continue as all sides try to resolve the few remaining issues.
So, in other words … all of this will be quietly swept under the rug and those four guys will probably get one helluva cash payout!
