Thank God Hulk Hogan answered the phone! The heavyweight champ was in a state of depression following a terrible sequence of events in his life. He was going through a very nasty divorce from his wife Linda (who was in the middle of a fling with a 19-year-old), his son Nick was in jail and above all, the Hulk says he felt lonely. In his new tell-all book, “My Life Outside the Ring,” he confesses that he had downed a cocktail of Xanax and Rum and was damn close to pulling the trigger on a loaded gun before his phone rang and his friend/co-star Laila Ali was on the other end. Ali had noticed Hogan acting very distracted and “distant” on the set of their show “American Gladiators” earlier that day.
Hogan, who still hadn’t gotten over losing the couple’s 23 years of marriage, claims his desperation came from his ex-wife Linda and the courts, who were trying to get him to pay $40,000 a month in alimony. He also said all of the constant partying, clubbing and drinking, and having women fall all over him every night made no difference when all he came home to was an empty house.

Professional female boxer Laila Ali and actresses Joy Bryant and Vanessa Williams all attended NYFW 2009’s “See Now, Wear Now” Runway Show, hosted by fashion designer Ann Taylor, Thursday (Sep 17) at the Celeste Bartos Forum in the New York Public Library in New York City.
Joy Bryant, star of the upcoming NBC series “Parenthood,” posted to her Essence blog last week her disdain for the use of leashes on young children. She says parents should teach their children to keep close to them instead of resorting to the use of a method of dog/animal control.
leash (noun): a chain, strap, etc., for controlling or leading a dog or animal
Yesterday, I was parked in front of a strip mall restaurant and noticed a man holding a leash. The man was standing near a pillar, so I couldn’t see what was on the other end. Understand, I am a huge dog lover. So, I couldn’t wait to see what kind of doggie the man had. Was it a little hot dog, or a big mastiff? A puggle or a pit? Eventually, the man walked near my car. My jaw dropped.
“Hey!” I said to myself. “That ain’t a dog, that’s a little boy!” A two-year-old, little boy. What the ????

Actress Holly Robinson Peete and her husband, former NFL football player Rodney Peete, hosted the HollyRod Foundation’s 11th Annual DesignCare Fundraiser at a private residence Saturday (Jul 25) in Beverly Hills, CA. Holly recently spoke out about the treatment of autism, calling it “expensive.” She and Rodney have a son with the disorder and have been trying to raise funds for his treatment through their HollyRod Foundation.
“We started the HollyRod Foundation years ago to help people with Parkinson’s disease – my dad had Parkinson’s and then about five years into the foundation, my son was diagnosed with autism… Much like Parkinson’s, autism is very expensive to treat so we started raising money for the quality of life for people suffering from both because of our personal experiences,” she revealed at the 11th annual DesignCare event in Hollywood.
“You can’t even know how expensive it is to treat a child with autism, especially families who don’t have insurance – it’s next to impossible. It destroys families.”
Holly added: “We raise money through these fundraisers and we beg people to use their gorgeous homes, we beg all of our friends to get dressed up and play with us.”
Other celebrities who showed up to support the cause were Ciara, Sanaa Lathan, Gabrielle Union and more. Continue reading for all of the pics!

KANYE WEST SUED FOR COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT » Another day, another bogus lawsuit against my boy Kanye West. Kanye is being sued by a Maryland songwriter/producer for copyright infringement.
Dayna “D’Mystro” Staggs filed the lawsuit in Maryland District Court last week claiming West “didn’t obtain a license” to sample his record “Volume of Good Life” for the song featured on West’s third album, “Graduation,” reports WENN. In legal papers, Staggs states West “was only at the age of six or seven years of age” when his song was written. He has also objected to the “vulgar and offensive” images associated with the song, claiming it “harms the reputation” of his inoffensive tune.
Staggs seeks 85 percent of all world sales of the proceeds from “Good Life,” although he fails to detail exactly how he came up with that number, reports WENN. West is named in the lawsuit alongside his various record labels, including his own G.O.O.D. Music and Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter’s Roc-A-Fella Records. [ VIA EUR WEB » ]
85%? Dude must be on something serious! And here I am thinking Good Life sampled Michael Jackson’s PYT. I gotta take a listen to this Volume of Good Life song though. The only thing that and Kanye’s “Good Life” probably has in common is the name, lol!

A finalist on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, Laila Ali is the latest celebrity to wear the famous Milk Mustache. Queen of both the ring and the dance floor, Ali knows a healthy diet combined with staying active are important for feeling and performing at your peak. Drinking three glasses of lowfat or fat free milk everyday helps her maintain a healthy weight and get the nutrients, including calcium and protein that her active body needs. The ad copy reads:
Knockout. Take it from me, milk really packs the punch. Some studies suggest the nutrients in 24 ounces of low fat or fat free milk a day can help you maintain a healthy weight and the protein helps build muscle for a lean body. So eat right, train hard and drink milk. Now, that’s a winning combination – in the ring or on the dance floor.
The ad debuts on October 22nd in Real Simple.
This is Ali’s third Milk Mustache ad.
