During Wednesday night’s (February 23) “American Idol” round 2 auditions in Las Vegas, Jennifer Lopez, along with fellow judges, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler, searched for the next star.
They were tasked with narrowing the group of 61 hopefuls down to 40, which would in turn be trimmed to 24 as the show made it’s return to Hollywood where it would resume its normal weekly format.
Wednesday’s (Feb 23) competition saw the lucky 40 challenged with the task of performing their very own renditions of legendary Beatles songs.
Although the Beatles’ renditions made for a very exciting night, it was 26-year-old Chris Medina, the barista from Oak Forest, Illinois who ultimately stole the show.
Willow Smith was all smiles Monday night (Feb 21) as she hosted the official “Whip Your Skates Back and Forth” party at Fleetwood Roller Rink in Summit, IL. The event served as a forum for Willow to meet her young fans and also advocated her “I Love Me” campaign, which encourages kids to love themselves and each other.
Meanwhile, the 10-year-old Pop singer is due to release her new song “21st Century Girl” and the accompanying music video (which was shot in California last month) any day now.

Some of the celebrities who walked the red carpet before entering the Barker Hangar to catch Cartoon Network’s first-ever sports awards show were R&B diva Monica, tennis phenom Venus Williams, pro skateboarder Tony Hawk, NFL player Terrell Owens, rapper Nelly, R&B newcomer Miguel, WNBA player Lisa Leslie and others. Beyonce is stirring a hell of a lot of controversy with this new L’Officiel Magazine photoshoot!
In the shoot for the March issue of the French magazine, the R&B/Pop superstar appears in blackface as part of “paying homage to the African queens through the ages.” However, a lot of people don’t see the “homage” and actually think that Beyonce wearing blackface is offensive.
“Blackface is not fashion forward or edgy and in my opinion, it is just flat out offensive. Black folks must have a zero tolerance policy for any manifestation of blackface, period,” wrote one blogger.
“If people allow this blatant cross into the offensive zone there will certainly be more to come,” writes another. “Whether the decision to pass off blackface as fashion was made ignorantly or not, there has been enough rumble in the jungle for the industry to be aware of itself.”

Nelly and Kelly Rowland got close (REAL close) in Cancun, Mexico on the set of their new music video yesterday (Wed. Feb 23) for their collabo track “Gone.” Directed by Marc Klasfeld, the clip is set to premiere early next month in conjunction with Nelly’s upcoming VH1″Behind the Music” TV special.
“Gone” serves as a follow-up to the pair’s 2002 smash hit “Dilemma,” which went on to earn a Grammy Award for “Best Rap/Sung Collaboration,” and is featured on Nelly’s latest album 5.0. The video premieres on March 7th. However, in the meantime…
