President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Malia Obama and Sasha Obama // President Barack Obama's Inauguration

Here are a set of photos from President Obama’s Inauguration in D.C. a couple of weeks ago on January 20th 2009 in front of the Capitol building. Continue reading for an amazing set of historical photos. Download them and put them away for safe keeping. We can only celebrate having the first Black president in office once in a lifetime!

Kelly Rowland Fires Mathew Knowles

Kelly Rowland & Mathew Knowles

About damn time, right? R&B singer Kelly Rowland has dropped Mathew Knowles from the roster as manager of her career. According to reports, the agreement was mutual and a statement from Rowland herself said the following:

“Mathew Knowles has been a positive influence in my career. I have had great success under his guidance – both as a member of Destiny’s Child and with my solo projects. Although we have decided to part ways professionally, the Knowles family and the entire Music World Entertainment team will always be my family.”

Mathew Knowles said in a statement:

“After a very positive meeting between Kelly Rowland and myself, we have amicably agreed to end our professional relationship. As an artist Kelly has incredible talent and I only wish her the best. We will always be family first and foremost and as a dad I can only have love for Kelly.”

Smart move, Kelly. Smart move.

♫ [NEW BEATZ] Rihanna F/ The Dream – “Hatin’ On The Club”

Rihanna & The Dream

Here’s a left-over track from Rihanna‘s Good Girl Gone Bad LP, which is well on its way to Diamond status. About damn time, right? Especially since her label’s been pushing GGGB since 2007. Not to mention the fact that she’s recorded a video for almost every song on the album too. Okay that’s a bit of an exaggeration (about the videos) but still … it’s time for some new sh*t Rihanna!

But anyway, here’s “Hatin’ On The Club” featuring The Dream. From what I could gather from the lyrics, the song talks about how the club can ruin a relationship. Take a listen for yourself below and leave comments letting us know what you think!

♫ [NEW BEATZ] Usher – “Get Used to Her”

Usher and Tameka

Here’s an unreleased track from Usher‘s lackluster “Here I Stand” album. Produced by Soundz, the track is called “Get Used to Her,” and after seeing the title I could immediately pinpoint that this was from this most recent era. Just look at it … he’s obviously talking about Tameka. He’s basically telling everyone to get used to her because she isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, despite the rumors and how anyone else feels. He apparently loves this woman and wants to stick by her, which is something that should definitely be respected.

But isn’t it about time for him to hit the studio and redeem himself and his career? Don’t get me wrong, Usher’s doing his thing and what-not, despite him not selling many albums from this last project or having much of a tour to support it. But let’s just say I still keep Confessions, 8701 and My Way in present rotation and Here I Stand really hasn’t been touched since I first listened to it. And I can guarantee you I’m not the only person who feels that way.

It’s a Girl for Erykah Badu & Jay Electronica

Erykah Badu & Jay Electronica

The internet has definitely brought celebrities a lot closer to the general public and if you follow @fatbellybella, you’ll know that Erykah Badu gave birth sometime between 10:00 AM and 6:49 PM this past Sunday (Feb. 1st 2009). How? Because she posted the following messages to Twitter, the hugely popular social networking site that’s the next best thing since Facebook and MySpace and YouTube.

But that’s okay. Boyfriend and father of the child, Jay Electronica, who goes by @JayElectronica, kept everyone abreast with what was going on and everything. Even when he saw the baby’s head:

Dawn Richard Confirms Danity Kane Split

Danity Kane

Out of the three ladies left in Danity Kane, only two (the two furthest to the right of the pic above) showed up to an important meeting, according to Dawn Richard. Rumors had been circulating the ‘net for weeks talking about how Shannon had left the group, but now since Dawn has brought everything to light, those rumors are obviously true. In an interview with MTV, Dawn talked about how she feels about the group’s break-up and even mentioned that Diddy is “devasted” about the whole situation.

On Danity Kane’s split:
“I’m shocked,” she said of Danity Kane’s dissolution, which has saddened and angered fans. “You can tell by my answers — I really don’t have them. It’s devastating to talk about this over and over again. It is crazy! It doesn’t even make sense. I still can’t understand it.”

On Diddy’s push for the best:
“Puff only hangs with people who break their necks,” she said. “I don’t think he’s even on that tip yet [regarding a solo career]. He just wants to see how great I can be at what he tells me to be great at, and that’s what a businessman does. He wants his employees to be the best.It makes you great ’cause it challenges you,” she added. “I want to learn. I want to be where he is mentally because if you can be there, you have mastered this interest. And that’s brilliant. I want to be here. I’m trying to stay here. I thought everybody was on that plan.”

On Diddy’s devastation:
“I think he’s devastated. I think he thought people would get over it ’cause he’s a man,” Richard said. “He’s just confused. I think that’s what makes him crazy the most. He’s like, ‘I’m the master of all of this, and they totally pulled the wool.’ I think he’s bitter and angry.”

All of this happened so fast! How can so many people f**k up a successful girl group (the ONLY successful girl group since Destiny’s Child went solo) in such a short amount of time?

[VIDEO] Soulja Boy Opens up About the Robbery

Soulja Boy has finally opened up about the incident that occured in December 2008, in which two unidentified men busted up in his crib with AK’s and put a gun to his friend’s head. In an interview with Big Boy (from Big Boy’s Neighbord), the 18-year-old rapper broke his silence and let us know what really went down. He didn’t give up too much information though for the sake of his fans, he says. Check out the video above.

“Basically I was at my crib and I had my album release party at my club that night. I got back to my house at around three in the morning and I was in the studio recording. So two of my homeboys was in the living room and me and Arab (a friend) we was in the studio recording. And somebody kicked in the door.

“One dude ran in put the AK (gun) to my homeboy head, put him on the floor. The other two ran in – my homeboy jumped in the other room – so the other two dudes ran back so I peeped in the door and they running through my house with Ks and pistols – so I ducked back.

“I really can’t dwell on what happened after that, but it was a messed up situation (and) I’m glad everyone made it out alive.”

[VIDEO] Jennifer Hudson Performs the National Anthem at Super Bowl XL III

Jennifer Hudson performed the Star Spangled banner, our country’s national anthem, at the 2009 Super Bowl aka Super Bowl XL III. Saying that she did great would be a definite understatement because judging from what I heard through my own two years, I believe she tore the frikkin roof off! Metaphorically, of course. But anyway, peep the video above.

★ Celebrities at the Inauguration (01.20.09): Beyonce, Jay-Z, Oprah, Aretha Franklin and more!

Beyonce & Jay-Z // President Barack Obama\'s Inauguration Aretha Franklin // President Barack Obama\'s Inauguration

I’ve been a little detached from the internet over the past couple of weeks due to a few offline obligations and what-not, but I’m slowly getting Gossip On This back into the groove of things. I’m not sure if many other blogs have shown a lot of these but here are a few photos of some of the biggest names in Hollywood watching history in the making as Barack Obama was sworn into office as the 44th President of the U.S.

Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Open Letter to President Barack Obama

Rev. Jesse Jackson and President Barack Obama

Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr. was asked by Essence to write an open letter to President Barack Obama. In the letter, he mainly talks about ways to improve the future of our country by investing in the education of our youth. Check it out below, and after the cut.

Dear Mr. President:

What a joy and relief it is to be able to salute you as President Obama. Congratulations on a magnificently run campaign. Your discipline, vision, strength and courage will take America and the world a long way. Now that we have made it through the courtship of the primary season, the engagement party in Grant Park on November 4th, and the wedding on January 20th, we’re entering into marriage—the final stage, one that is full of challenges.

It’s high noon in our politics, where hope abounds. But it is midnight in our economics. But we have hope that the darkness will lead to a new light that will shine even brighter. We are in a time of the worst economic crisis of the last half century, and amid expanding wars and conflicts in Iraq, the Middle East and Africa. The two great themes of ending poverty at home and unnecessary wars abroad must dominate our priorities.

We need an economic stimulus. We also need equal protection under the law, which we’ve never had. Those who have been dealt the most inequality deserve targeted stimulation. Our character is measured, as you mentioned in your Inauguration speech, by how we treat the least of these. The least of these are gripped in poverty, high infant mortality, less access to capital, first-class jails and second-class schools, the highest victims of home foreclosures. They need targeted job creation and job training to offset targeted discrimination and denial leading to structural inequality. They need to be able to restructure and modify their loans, real foreclosure relief to save their homes.

♫ [NEW BEATZ] Lil Wayne – “Prom Queen”

Lil' Wayne

I wouldn’t necessarily call this “brand spanking new” but it’s new enough, and I’m sure not everyone has heard this attrocity Lil’ Wayne has put on the internet. If you haven’t heard it yet, you need to force yourself to listen to it at least once so you can join everyone else in wondering what the hell is going on with this dude. He can’t be serious, can he? Anyway, peep Weezy’s “Prom Queen” above. This next “rock” album should definitely be interesting…

Barack Obama’s Presidential Portrait

Barack Obama

President Barack Obama‘s official presidential portrait was unveiled a few weeks ago. They say it’s the first presidential portrait ever to be taken with a digital camera. You can add that to the historical list of “firsts” we as a country have experienced in such a short amount of time.

Obama Sets Fuel Efficiency & Global Warming Plan Into Action

President Obama

President Obama began to take action regarding fuel efficiency & global warming with plans to reverse several Bush decisions concerning green issues. Obama directed his Environmental Protection Agency to review a California application to regulate greenhouse gases and told his Department of Transportation to begin implementing fuel efficiency standards passed in late 2007 but not implemented by the Bush administration.

As well all know the President has been pushing for the passage of the $825 billion stimulus package in the House and Senate to help revive the economy.  Included in this package the bills include money for investments in renewable energy, conservation, and a better electric grid.

“America will not be held hostage to dwindling resources, hostile regimes and a warming planet,” said Obama. “This is the boost that our economy needs and the new beginning that our future demands.”
