A Phoenix police spokesman released the sad news that Mike Tyson‘s 4-year-old daughter Exodus Tyson was pronounced dead Tuesday morning.
“The Tyson family would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks for all your prayers and support, and we ask that we be allowed our privacy at this difficult time,” the family said in a statement.
R&B singers Chris Brown and Usher were spotted kicking it courtside Sunday night as the Orlando Magic beat the Cleveland Cavaliers (99 to 89) in Orlando. The glare of Usher’s sunglasses along with the flash of the camera and the arena’s lighting makes it look like Chris has a black eye (as reported by a view other blogs) but clearly in the second photo you see no black eye. Not sure where that rumor came from, but if it were true it’d definitely be pretty funny and ironic. Shout out to Chris Brown Web for the pics!
According to a statement released last Wednesday (May 20) by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office, an Atlanta man was formally charged last Wednesday (May 20) with the murder of rapper Dolla. In court, the man, identified as Aubrey Louise Berry, answered to two counts of assault with a firearm and one count of murder after he allegedly shot and killed Dolla (real name: Roderick Burton) at the Beverly Center Mall in Los Angeles.
In addition to shooting 21-year-old Burton, Berry allegedly fired at two other people who were also present at the fatal altercation. If convicted, Berry, who is currently being held on $5 million bail (raised from $1.1 million on Wednesday), faces a maximum of life in prison with the possibility of parole, according to the statement.
In a rather lengthy post on his personal blog, Nick Cannon ranted on and on about Eminem in response to the Detroit rapper’s diss to him and Mariah Carey in the new song, “Bagpipes from Baghdad.” Cannon’s blog entry generated a lot of buzz in the media, saying that he wanted to meet Eminem face-to-face and handle the situation like men. Nick has since taken the post down, saying that the thousands of comments in response to the post coupled with the onslaught of new traffic almost crashed his site. But even though he took the post down, he says he has zero regrets:
“I feel exactly the same way by it and stick by everything, but I think it’s one of those things where it becomes that it’s not really that big of a deal, you know?”
After a couple of push-backs and a bit of confusion here and there on just when T.I. would begin his sentence, the Atlanta raper turned himself in Tuesday (May 26) at an Arkansas federal prison, where he began serving his notorious 366-day sentence stemming from those weapons charges he received in Atlanta back in 2007.
According to several reports, Mr. Clifford Joseph Harris is now in custody at a low-security section of the Forrest City Federal Correctional Center, where he will reportedly be in the general population with the rest of the inmates, despite his celebrity status.
Rapper Eminem can breathe easy knowing that the hip-hop industry in general has welcomed him back to the scene with open arms. His latest album, Relapse, currently holds the spot as the number one album in the country, with 608,000 units moved in its first week, also setting a record as the biggest sales week of the year for any album.
This also marks Em’s fifth straight number one debut and fifth overall number one out of six total albums. His debut album, Slim Shady LP, bowed and peaked at number two 10 years ago in 1999.
And while we’re shooting off numbers here, we should add that collectively, over the span of his 10-year career, between his six albums he has sold over 34 million units in the United States alone, making him the biggest selling hip-hop act in the SoundScan era (1991 – present).
Former championship boxer Mike Tyson is in the news again, but this time it’s sad news. His 4-year-old daughter, Exodus Tyson, is hanging on to her life after getting her neck tangled in a cord from a treadmill in her home in Phoenix, Arizona Monday (May 25). According to police reports, little Exodus was playing on the treadmill at the time of the accident, where her 7-year-old brother found her tangled in the cord and called for his mother.
At the time of the incident, the mother, whose name has not been released, was in a separate room cleaning and upon hearing her 7-year-old son, she immediately called 911 and Exodus was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she remains as of now, in critical condition and on life support.

According to Charysse Alexander, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia, reports of T.I. only serving two months in prison are completely inaccurate. She told MTV News that the Atlanta rapper was definitely given credit for his 305 days of house arrest, but that, unfortunately, has nothing to do with his year-and-a-day prison sentence.
She went on to say that according to federal sentencing guidelines, anyone who serves more than a year in prison is eligible for a 15 percent “good time” credit, which in T.I.’s case would mean that he could get close to 55 days knocked off of his total sentence.
