Fantasia Barrino is on a mission to reinvent herself and her career after tarnishing her image with a salacious scandal involving her married baby daddy Antwaun Cook.
If you’ll recall, Fantasia was dragged through the mud by the blogs and the media for being a homewrecker. Cook’s wife took Fanny to court over her affair in fact. Then Fantasia tried to commit suicide with some dang baby aspirin. It was a mess, y’all.
But that was then and this is now. In an attempt to wipe the slate clean, Fantasia did an interview with JET magazine talking about how she’s turned her life around. As part of this fresh start, she sent along images that she wanted to be considered for the cover. Apparently the new Fantasia equals a fake beauty mark and a Miss Swan wig.
JET magazine wasn’t feeling Fantasia’s pictures though so they went with her older promotional photos which are nearly 10 years old.
Fantasia was not pleased, of course, and the singer threw a temper tantrum on Instagram over the cover:
“This saddens Me!!! It is clear that this picture is 10 Years Old and JET Magazine puts it on the Cover!! After I send them the NEW LOOK AND DIRECTION. . SAD!!! I WANT A PUBLIC APOLOGY FROM JET. Now im not sure if the interview is correct. SEE!! America they and use me as they crash Dummy BUT NO MORE. IF I DONT STAND FOR SOMETHING ILL FALL FOR ANYTHING.”
The editors at JET magazine are saying, however, that Fanny’s pics just weren’t good enough. The photos that Fantasia sent obscured her face and didn’t meet the magazine’s standards for a cover, according to TMZ.
Well, this is really a case where neither side is really in the wrong. Fantasia’s new photos are bootleg as hell and look ratchet and foolish.
But JET’s decision to use a 10-year-old photo is pretty inexcusable. Instead of running the old picture, why not reach out to Fanny’s team for alternate shots. Or, brace yourselves for this game-changing idea, maybe JET could hire a photographer to TAKE Fantasia’s picture for the cover.
Imagine that, a magazine commissioning original photography.
