It’s been over a year since the film adaptation of the raunchy BDSM tale “Fifty Shades of Grey” was announced and speculation over who would be chosen to star in the flick has been rampant. Now the wait is over!

The book’s author, E.L. James took to Twitter on Monday to announce that Charlie Hunnam will take on the role of Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson will star as Anastasia Steel.

Hunnam, 33, is best known for his role on “Sons of Anarchy” and recently starred in “Pacific Rim.” Johnson, 23, is best known for being the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Jonson. Oh, she did something in “21 Jump Street” too.

“Fifty Shades of Grey” is the first book in a trilogy that is rounded out by “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Fifty Shades Freed.”

The story follows a 21-year-old virgin who falls for a 27-year-old billionaire and agrees to become his sexual submissive.

The book, which grew out of “Twilight” fan fiction, contains more than its fair share of sex scenes, so it’s safe to say that the actors in the film should be prepared for endless scenes of hot encounters that take place everywhere from an elevator to a private boat.

We’re not going to lie, the announcement is somewhat disappointing. Sure, Hunnam has an amazing…um body of work but many fans were hoping for a more interesting casting choice.

Audiences have to believe that this man has a hypnotic power over women, so much so that he convinces the heroine to do unspeakable things.

As for Johnson, it’s always a pain to see the children of famous people score a highly sought after role. Plus, she does NOT fit the description of the mousey and awkward Anastasia.

What do you think of these two for the roles?
