Brandy experienced an entertainer’s absolute worst nightmare this past weekend when she was scheduled to perform at an event in South Africa, but found an empty stadium once she hit the stage.

The R&B singer was reportedly the guest performer for Nelson Mandela Sports and Culture Day, which was held at the First National Bank stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, but apparently no one knew about her performance.

Maybe it was due to lack of promotion, or maybe people in South Africa just don’t know who Brandy is (which is highly unlikely since everyone loves Moesha!), but when it came time for her to perform, the arena, which seats a crowd of 90,000 at full capacity, was totally empty, except for about 40 or so people.

According to some reports, the venue saw a much larger crowd earlier in the day, but many of them had already left before Brandy’s set began. Needless to say, she was pretty upset about the whole thing and left after singing two songs for the dozens who did stuck around.

“I have no words for what I just witnessed,” tweeted South African musician Kabomo. “Brandy performed to an empty stadium. With the stadium lights on. She sulked after two songs and walked off.”

He added, “It was late. People didn’t know there was a concert after the games. No one knew Brandy was around.”

Neither Brandy nor the concert promoters have made a statement about the event, most likely because the entire situation is so horribly dreadful that they would probably rather everyone just forget it even happened. Seriously. As a matter of fact, what you just read is lies. ALL LIES!

No, but really. Someone should be held accountable for this travesty. This would never happen to Beyonce.
