After enduring a painful, tension-filled season of “American Idol” together, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj can both agree that they’re glad it’s all over. For good.
It’s no secret that Mariah and Nicki didn’t end up being BFFs while the two superstars judged Idol together. Who you think is to blame for the repeated cat fights depends on whether you’re a Barb or a Lamb.
While the bad blood between the two divas was intriguing at first, it grew old rather quickly and the ratings for the show tanked. In fact, this past season of Idol had some of the lowest ratings in the show’s history.
Longtime judge Randy Jackson bowed out before the show ended, announcing that he wouldn’t be returning as a judge next season. And now Mariah and Nicki have made it official too.
“Nicki Minaj is a superstar who brought a level of honesty and passion to American Idol and who had a tremendous positive impact on so many contestants this season,” Fox and Idol producers FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment said in a joint statement. “Given her extremely busy career, we understand and respect her decision and wish her the best.”
Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn’t trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!

Mariah’s PR team did her dirty work for her and made a similar statement on Twitter as well.

So now that the show is over, will Nicki and Mariah kiss and make up? Probably not. Y’all know Mariah holds on to a grudge like a winter coat. Just ask her about J.Lo and see what happens.
